You'll Never Get Seasick In This $25 Million Transforming Submarine Yacht

U-boat worx's latest submarine takes inspiration from 20,000 leagues under the sea..

What’s the most elaborate display of wealth you can imagine? A massive yacht that’s more like a luxury floating hotel? That would have been our answer too, until we laid eyes on the latest concept from submarine builder U-Boat Worx. The company wants to give the obscenely wealthy the best of both worlds with a luxury superyacht that can also dive to depths of 650-feet .

When it comes to vehicles that don’t primarily use wheels, submarines have always felt more or less unattainable, even to the super wealthy. Buying a private plane is easy if you’ve got the funds, but submarines seem relegated to researchers and the militaries of the world. U-Boat Worx wants to change that. Back in April, the company revealed the Nexus , a nine passenger submarine with a bulbous “transparent elliptical pressure hull” providing unobstructed views under water. In May, the company followed that up with its Under Water Entertainment Platform , or UWEP: an underwater banquet hall that can take up to 120 passengers to depths of 650 feet.

U-Boat Worx’s latest idea , revealed at the recent Monaco Yacht Show , is its largest and most ambitious watercraft yet. The 123-foot long Nautilus is first and foremost a luxury superyacht, with amenities that include four state rooms for guests plus a main suite for whoever’s footing the bill, a dining and lounge area set below the water line with large viewing windows, quarters for up to six crew members, and a full galley.

The Nautilus also boasts an expansive sundeck with a freshwater pool, a bar, and an additional outdoor dining area. B ut all of that can be retracted and sealed away, because this superyacht can also dive to depths of 650-feet for up to four entire days. I ts cruising speed drops from nine knots on the surface to four knots when fully submerged, but f or those who can’t endure a storm or choppy waters, the Nautilus can simply dip below unpleasant weather and either ride out a storm or navigate to calmer waters. That alone might be its biggest selling point.

Other features that help justify the Nautilus’ starting price of $25 million and the 30 month wait for it to be built and delivered include an all-electric tender boat that can be used for day trips or delivering scuba divers to dive spots ( because it also doubles as a submersible). The yacht’s also got a diesel-electric power system that provides a range of 3,200 nautical miles, which is just shy of the maximum width of the Atlantic Ocean.

BLACK LEGEND Yacht – Overmarine’s Stunning $25M Superyacht

The 50-meter BLACK LEGEND yacht was launched in 2017 by Overmarine in Italy. She is worth US$25 million and can reach speeds up to 37 knots.

The interior was developed by the Over Marine Design team to fit the specific needs of her owner.

Much like the exterior of the yacht, the interior features a lot of dark elements with striking red skulls as accent pieces.

The upholstery is made from dark fabrics and leather, with suede elements and exotic wood.

There are four guest cabins, including a large master, one VIP room, and two doubles. The entire interior of the BLACK LEGEND yacht is air-conditioned, and she features a state-of-the-art entertainment system.

Almost all of his vehicles and vessels are black with red skulls as a unique form of branding.

The BLACK LEGEND yacht reportedly cost her owner US $25 million with an estimated US $1 to 2 million annual running costs in addition to the sale price. 

Specifications

The yacht has a length of 49.9 meters (163.9 ft), a beam of 9.2 meters (30.2 ft), and a 1.9 meters (6.9 ft) draft.

She displaces 483 tons and can reach top speeds of up to 48 knots, making her much faster than larger models. Her average cruise speeds lie at 35 knots.

She is powered by four diesel MTU engines which provide her with a reach of up to 691 nautical miles.

Since her draft is exceptionally low she is the perfect yacht for accessing shallow areas that other larger vessels might not be able to reach.

The exterior of the BLACK LEGEND yacht was designed by Stefano Righini, an Italian naval designer specializing in superyachts. He recently passed away in October 2021. The vessel is mainly black with some white accents and, of course, the signature red skull, which marks the left side of the bow.

Large black and red letters spell out the name on the aft, and she is decorated with a red stripe along her waterline.

The BLACK LEGEND yacht is the 12th in Overmarine’s successful Mangusta 165 series. She is also the 8th largest vessel ever built by the Italian shipyard, which was founded in 1985.

She is currently ranked number 904 on the list of largest motor yachts in the world

The World’s Most Expensive Yachts—Including Some That Cost Billions

Though superyachts are already among the most costly consumer items available, the prices of the most expensive yachts in the world are still astounding. In recent decades, those with money to burn have settled on these floating palaces as an ideal locus for demonstrating their prosperity, and, as such, the global luxury yacht industry is undergoing a golden age. The world’s überwealthy think of their motor yachts as toys, and they’re constantly trying to outdo each other in scale, design, amenities, materials, and sheer profligacy.

Knowing this, what features does it take to own one of the most expensive yachts in existence? And how much do these opulent vessels actually cost? To that end, AD has compiled a list of the five priciest superyachts currently out on the water. As with many things connected to the very wealthy, details are shrouded in secrecy—often intentionally—to shield the assets from taxation or seizure, or to protect privacy.

Below, dive into the five reportedly most expensive yachts in the world.

5. Dubai ($400 million)

This 531-foot yacht is reportedly owned by United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. Though it was originally planned for another Middle Eastern potentate, Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei, he suddenly voided the contract in 2001. With exteriors designed by Andrew Winch and interiors by Platinum Yachts, this German-built Blohm + Voss vessel features several Jacuzzis, a pool inlaid with handmade mosaic tiles that is reportedly large enough to hold 115 people, a circular staircase, a discotheque with an appropriately sized dance floor, squash courts, a movie theater, a dining room for 90 guests (the other 25 presumably have to eat in the pool?), a helipad, and a submarine.

4. Topaz ($527 million)

Resembling a stealth bomber, this 483-foot ship is reportedly owned by Russian fertilizer and coal oligarch Andrey Melnichenko. With exteriors by Tim Heywood Design Ltd. and interior designs by Terence Disdale Design, this German-built Lürssen Yacht features a 2,500-square-foot primary bedroom, six guest suites (with moveable walls so they can be transformed into four grand staterooms), glassware and tableware fashioned from French crystal, a helicopter hangar, a 30-foot speedboat tender, and three swimming pools, including one with a glass-bottom dangling menacingly above a disco.

3. Azzam ($600 million)

This 590-foot ship is currently thought to be the largest private yacht in the world and one of the fastest, with a top speed of 35 miles per hour. To achieve this immense scale and speed, it required a pair of gas turbines and two stratospherically potent diesel engines, rendering it very difficult to build. It is reportedly owned by a member of the royal family of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. With exteriors by Nauta Yacht and interiors by French decorator Cristophe Leoni, this yacht was also built by Lürssen in Germany. The vessel is set apart by its early 19th-century Empire-style veneered furniture, as well as its state-of-the-art security systems, including a fully bulletproof primary suite and a high-tech missile deterrence capabilities.

2. Eclipse ($1.5 billion)

In addition to being the second-costliest, this 533-footer is thought to be the world’s second-largest private yacht. Owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich , the ship was claimed to be located in Turkey and may be impounded as part of the United Kingdom’s sanctions against Russia. Designed by Terry Disdale and built by Blohm + Voss, it features two-dozen guest cabins, two swimming pools, two helipads, and multiple hot tubs. For privacy and security reasons, it hosts a missile detection system, bulletproof windows in the primary bedroom and on the bridge, an anti-paparazzi shield, and, when all of that fails, a mini-submarine that can take a few VIPs 164 feet under the ocean’s surface.

1. History Supreme ($4.8 billion)

History Supreme has never actually been seen in a major port, and rumors suggest that the yacht may not be real and instead just a publicity stunt. Reportedly owned by Malaysia’s richest man, Robert Kuok, and designed by Stuart Hughes in the UK, the yacht is only a paltry 100 feet long. Its worth is said to be derived from its lavish finishes, including a statue constructed from genuine Tyrannosaurus rex bones, a liquor bottle embedded with an 18.5-carat diamond, and a primary bedroom with one wall made from meteorite and another from a 24-karat gold Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium. Also, Somnio, the 728-feet dream-monikered yacht liner that tops our list of the world’s largest private yachts , isn’t quite done being constructed. And it is not, like most of the largest superyachts, privately owned by one individual or family—it’s a kind of floating condo, with 39 eight-figure homes available to potential owners solely by invitation.

Described as a “sports car of the sea,” Bluephire is an open cruiser with sleek, elegant lines and a low-slung profile. Designed for a Mediterranean lifestyle, the yacht is geared toward indoor-outdoor living and can cover some serious nautical miles. With a beam of almost 23 feet and an interior volume of 230 GT, Bluephire also offers a vast and comfortable interior.

The loft-like living quarters center around a striking glass salon that opens at both ends to connect the interior and exterior. This $25 Million Yacht Looks Like A Supercar, Comes With One Inside

Let's say you invent a suppository that extends your lifespan, keeps you looking young, and gives you an orgasm any time you smell vanilla extract. What would you do with the piles of money you'd make? If you answered "buy a massive yacht that looks like a car and comes with its own supercar," then I'm relieved because that's what I'm writing about.

The yacht is called, classily, the Xhibitionist , and it was designed by Eduard Gray of Gray Design. As far as anyone knows, this crazy, massive yacht only exists in these many, detailed renderings. It's sort of like Eduard Gray has taken the idea of drawing awesome boats and cars and planes stuff that push the limits of taste and reason in his spiral school notebook and turned it into a business.

The Xhibitionist is a very striking and dramatic trimaran-type ship. It's clearly and unashamedly designed along the lines of a car. Specifically, it feels to me something like a an old '30s-era Delahaye or something with those exaggerated long hood/short deck proportions and dramatic, flowing, sweeping fenders.

Most blogs are referring to this as looking like the "Batmobile." That feels a little lazy to me. It's big, swoopy, and a steely yet warm dark grey, but I'm not so sure I really see much Batmobile in here.

The 'hood' area of the yacht folds out to become a big platform, usable as either a helipad, a place to do donuts with your supercar, a stage for when you use your resources to re-animate Nick Drake and have him perform, or anything else you want. The yacht also is capable of working in differing 'modes,' so it can be used for guests, or as a showroom, or for retail. Here, look:

I guess there's a market for a floating, high-end mall I was never aware of? It's possible, I'm barely allowed near land-based Gucci stores as it is.

The yacht is said to be powered by "a choice of hybrid drive systems,' which would be visible behind glass, but since it doesn't actually exist, that could be a hybrid of antimatter/matter reactor and fairy dust. Or maybe an advanced pasta/antipasto reactor system.

The supercar that's designed for the yacht is called the Xhibit G, and at first glance looks a bit like a cross between a Bentley Continental GT Coupé and a modern Cadillac front end. With a little bit of Audi R8 in the middle there.

Like the boat, it exists in the same world where you can get a full-release massage from the Tooth Fairy while a unicorn watches, and in that world the carbon fiber and aluminum and probably adamantium Xhibit G has 630 HP V12 and has a limited top speed of 155. Because, you know, when you're making shit up, safety first.

I know our readership is about 25% Bond villains and/or future Bond villains and other assorted supervillian billionaires, so I'm pretty sure one of you will be ordering one of these soon enough. And once that happens, it'll become real, which will be a nice step up from this bonkers pipe-dream of wealth-masturbating.

The aforementioned outlet reports that the couple has acquired the plot for the construction of a mansion. However, they will not be able to enjoy their new home until the end of the year, which is when the construction process is scheduled to be completed and they will receive the keys to the property.

This real estate project, managed by the Palace Luxury Living group , has enjoyed great success in the United Arab Emirates thanks to the influential people and millionaires who have invested their wealth into the purchase of a house on Jumeirah Bay Island.

This island, which is shaped like a seahorse , as shown by Google Maps , was artificially built by the country’s government with the aim of building an exclusive and intimate space intended for the wealthiest and privileged people of society.

It is located just eight kilometres from the city centre and has a direct connection to the coast thanks to a 300-metre-long bridge. The island also has all kinds of amenities and services, including high-end restaurants, a yacht club, five-star hotels and various gyms.

At the moment, there are only 15 mansions completed , although it is expected that the number will increase throughout this year with the arrival of new neighbours. Among them are huge names in the public eye, such as Teddy Sagi and the daughter of the former Angolan president, José Eduardo Santos , among others.
