The Wait is Almost Over: Tanasi Clubhouse at Tellico Village to Reopen in 2026
by Rick Smenner | Nov 11, 2024 | 0 comments
The Tanasi Clubhouse at Tellico Village will reopen in 2026 and be even better. When a kitchen fire in August 2022 destroyed the building, the community came together to plan a rebuild. Now, with construction underway, residents can’t wait to have a new, modern clubhouse to call their own again.
We Unite After a Fire
In August 2022, a fire broke out in the Tanasi Clubhouse kitchen. The fire spread quickly, and the Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department responded. Loudon County and Greenback fire departments joined to fight the fire, and everyone was evacuated safely and without injuries. They saved lives, although the building was a total loss.
The loss went beyond just the building. Residents loved the clubhouse as a place of memories – golf games, family dinners, and community events. The community decided to rebuild, and Tellico Village leadership started planning to bring back this iconic landmark.
RTC General Contractors Contract Signed
Tellico Village has contracted with RTC General Contractors , who built the Toqua Clubhouse, to build the Tanasi Clubhouse. This brings experienced hands to the project. The budget is $11.5 million and covers construction, landscaping, kitchen equipment, and furnishings. Construction will take 12-14 months, and we expect to open in early 2026.
What’s in the New Tanasi Clubhouse
The new Tanasi Clubhouse will have a mix of new and old dining, golf, and socializing amenities. Here’s a sneak peek:
- Full-service restaurant with old and new favorites
- Private dining rooms for family gatherings and community events
- Golf pro shop with top-of-the-line gear, apparel, and accessories
- Golf spaces for small outings to large tournaments
The restaurant will have plenty of seating and a warm, cozy atmosphere. Residents can meet here for a casual meal or after golf. The private dining areas will be quieter and more intimate for events and the pro shop will have all the golf gear and apparel.
Old Meets New
The original Tanasi Clubhouse opened in 1996 and is a beloved part of Tellico Village history. Residents loved the open layout and big greens. The new clubhouse will keep the tradition while adding modern amenities for today’s residents.
The Tellico Village Property Owners Association has been involved in every step of the process—from selecting the architects to the final designs. Tellico Village CEO Chet Pillsbury said, “We’ve been working on this for over two years to get it right for Tellico Village.” So it will feel like home from day one.
Tellico Village: A Top Retirement Community
Tellico Village has become one of the Southeast’s top retirement communities. Founded in 1987, the village sits on 4,800 acres of lakefront property on Tellico Lake and is home to around 10,000 residents. Tellico Village attracts retirees nationwide with three championship golf courses, a yacht club, walking trails, wellness facilities, and social events.
The Tanasi Clubhouse has always been a big part of what residents love about this community. Rebuilding it keeps a piece of that lifestyle.
A Community Gathering Place Returns
The new Tanasi Clubhouse will bring more than a building to Tellico Village. It will bring back a place where residents can connect, relax, and celebrate life. Golfers will have upgraded facilities, dining options, and space to play, practice, and socialize. Tanasi will also have new opportunities for community gatherings and be the center of social life in Tellico Village.
2026 Here We Come
Construction will be completed by early 2026, and residents are counting the days until the clubhouse opens. The design combines community needs with modern amenities and will be an iconic part of Tellico Village. For those who miss the warmth and community of the original, the wait is almost over.
