Viking Yachts Debuts New Center Console Line

The Viking Yacht Company has introduced Valhalla Boatworks, a new company dedicated to designing and building high-performance center consoles with Viking’s same quality, craftsmanship and expertise.

“Valhalla Boatworks will allow our dealers and customers to fulfill a strong desire for high-end center consoles built by the Viking Yacht Company,” says Viking President and CEO Patrick Healey. “It’s a very exciting time and another important chapter in our history of building a better boat every day.”

The Valhalla Boatworks V Series consists of three outboard-powered deep-V monohulls from 33 to 41 feet, which are designed to excel as hard-core fishing boats and built to the highest levels of workmanship and fit and finish.

The V-33, V-37 and V-41 are the result of the cooperative effort of the Viking Design and Engineering team and Michael Peters Yacht Design. The V Series utilizes MPYD’s patented stepped-v ventilated tunnel running surface that reduces drag while increasing speed, stability and efficiency.

“It’s the most advanced and proven stepped-hull design in the world,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. “The twin steps and tunnel not only give you fast and efficient performance but also precise handling and a very stable ride.”

The same resources of Viking’s vertically integrated company are at the disposal of Valhalla Boatworks, so major components of each build such as hardtops, marlin and gap towers and electronics packages are being manufactured at Viking to guarantee turn-key delivery.

The V-33, V-37 and V-41 are powered by four-stroke outboards with horsepower ratings from 300 to 425 in twin, triple or quad configurations, depending on the model. The efficiency of the stepped hulls and these direct-fuel-injected engines deliver best-in-class fuel economy and range. Power-assist hydraulic steering will be standard and joystick helm control systems will be optional for all three models.

Building on the overwhelming success of the V Series high-performance luxury center consoles, the Viking Yacht Company has begun the next chapter in the evolution of Valhalla Boatworks – the V-46.

Viking announced the creation of Valhalla Boatworks (VBW) in February 2019, and introduced the first three models – the V-33, V-37 and V-41 – simultaneously only eight months later in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The trio set new standards in performance, fishability, engineering and build quality, along with personalization opportunities never seen before in this genre.

“We’ve established Valhalla Boatworks as a dominating force in the center console market,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “The response has truly been tremendous as we approach 70 Valhallas delivered in our first year of production.”

The Valhalla 46 takes the V Series to an entirely new level, broadening its appeal through additional accommodations and amenities while maintaining its fishing boat DNA. “We never stop innovating, fine-tuning and staying out in front of the needs of our owners and the marine industry,” says Pat. “The V-46 is a result of that commitment.”

Mission Like its stablemates, the V-46 is an outboard-powered center console that utilizes the patented Michael Peters Yacht Design (MPYD) double-stepped hull. “We’ve been extremely pleased with the performance of the first three boats,” says Design Manager David Wilson. “Our close collaboration with MPYD has continued, and we expect the same high level of performance in this boat.”

The V-46 possesses the same signature design traits (S-shaped sheer, doubles chines, tumblehome transom bustle), aesthetic enhancements (teak toerails and transom) and 360-degree fishing prowess of the V Series. This Valhalla’s significant length (46’ 7”) and beam (13’ 4”) allow for a massive console that functions as an air-conditioned cabin. Through the port-side console door, a powder-coated pedestal with teak stair treads leads to an inviting living space. You’ll immediately notice the headroom (6’ 7”) and free-flowing open layout that’s filled with natural light flowing through four shapely portlights. Forward, a dinette with U-shaped seating and bolstered backrest surrounds a drop-down table that converts to a queen berth. On the starboard side is the galley, which features a polished Corian countertop, stainless steel sink, brushed nickel and chrome faucet, two-burner recessed stove, refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven and cabinet storage. Directly aft of the galley is the private head with a molded-in vanity with freshwater sink and faucet, toilet and shower.

Machinery Room The head provides access to the machinery room, which houses the 8 kW diesel generator, batteries and distribution panel, battery charger, hot water heater and provides access to helm electronics. “The proper installation and protection of mechanical and electrical equipment is more important than ever on open outboard-powered boats,” says Viking Design and Engineering Vice President Lonni Rutt. “That’s why we’ve equipped the V-46 with a dedicated and protected walk-in space that houses critical electrical and mechanical components. The machinery room essentially serves the same purpose as the engineroom on a Viking.”

Stringer Grid/Seakeeper The V-46 was designed and engineered with a mounting structure molded into the vessel’s resin-infused structural stringer grid for the installation of an available Seakeeper SK 6. “Like the infused stringer grid, all of the materials used in the 46 are analyzed for weight reduction, optimal performance and ultimately the best structure we can provide,” says Lonni. The Seakeeper is accessed through a dedicated hatch on centerline forward of the lazarette, which is home to the custom-designed fuel management system and Hooker sea chest live well system. All hatches are equipped with heavy-duty gasketing that sits in recessed channels for a tight seal.

Helm The console, helm seating modules and the forward lounge are all elevated on a 7-inch-high platform, which maximizes visibility and allows for increased interior volume below. The console maintains the streamlined, clean design of the V Series, with its controls and information displays positioned for ease of access and viewing. An expansive recessed black acrylic helm panel can hold three electronics displays up to 22 inches each. A row of flush-mounted Bocatech switches (with backlit labeling) lines the lower dash. The engine controls and Zipwake interceptor trim control panel are positioned to starboard of the centerline helm pod (available in teak or faux teak) and Edson stainless steel wheel with power knob. Quick downward glances allow for regular performance checks via the high-definition engine monitor. There are port and starboard glove boxes for storage of personal items, and four convenient stainless steel cupholders are nested neatly in the console.

Seating The seating opportunities on the V-46 are diverse and plentiful from bow to stern. Like the V-33, V-37 and V-41, the new Valhalla features standard Costa Marine bench seating at the helm with optional Release Marine or Llebroc seating consisting of three chairs with individual armrests, folding bolsters and electric slides. The V-46 also offers a second row of seating for up to four additional crew or guests, as well as the aft-facing mezzanine seating that has been so popular on the first three V Series models. Owners can also go with a Costa Marine bench for the second row of seating or four Release Marine or Llebroc chairs with shared armrests, folding bolsters and electric slides. The second row is elevated another 3 inches and has a footrest area for enhanced visibility and comfort. GG Schmitt transom seats are also available. VBW uses premium Sunbrella Horizon upholstery – offered with Diamond/Bentley stitching – for the V-46’s seating and coaming bolsters. The seating’s main sections, insets and piping can all be color coordinated to the owner’s liking.

The three-person lounge integrated into the console has folding armrests and a leg-elevating design. There’s also a two-person seat molded into the lounge’s forward section. The port and starboard forward seats feature available Release Marine teak backrests. The deck layout was also designed with a centerline step-up platform for increased access to the anchor locker and ground tackle, and it also provides a convenient elevated position for casting.

Fishability The hardtop package is loaded with top-shelf components for both fishing and navigation, including Lumitec Mirage spreader lights, overhead lights, a molded-in radar pod, a six-rod rocket launcher and an integrated overhead electronics pod in the hardtop above the helm. Custom hardtop options include Gemlux outrigger bases and 22’ Gemlux outriggers, Miya Epoch US-6 electric teaser reels (mounted inside the hardtop) and Lumitec Razor light bars. Aesthetic enhancements include a white powder-coated hardtop frame and the option to have the hardtop underside match the hull color. The Valhalla 46 can be outfitted with a custom Palm Beach Towers gap tower or fold-down marlin tower with removable sunshade.

A dynamic and versatile fishing platform, the V-46’s deck layout optimizes freedom of movement and stresses ease of access to all pertinent equipment. Live bait anglers will be impressed. Dual 50-gallon transom live wells anchor the cockpit. Inlet and discharge fittings are located in the cockpit corners for additional on-deck live well capacity. An in-deck live well is available in lieu of the Seakeeper, and the forward section of the lounge seating can also serve as a live well. The Valhalla 46’s deck holds five fishboxes – all insulated, equipped with macerator pumps and plumbed for overboard drainage. Six standard stainless steel Gemlux rod holders line the cockpit coaming, and you can add more along the coamings forward. Convenience options include a bow thruster, anchor chute with stainless steel anchor and windlass, a teak deck for the raised platform seating area, mezzanine step and forward step, underwater lights, a Costa Marine sunshade and a Reverso automatic outboard flushing system.

Propulsion The V-46 can be powered with either quad Mercury V8 450Rs, Mercury Verado 400s or Yamaha V8 425s. Both packages utilize fly-by-wire electric power steering and are available with joystick control and GPS station-keeping systems. With a nearly 700-gallon fuel capacity, the V-46 has the legs for long trips to the canyons or extended cruising and diving in the islands. “It’s the ultimate fish-and-cruise hybrid,” says David Wilson. The Valhalla 46 will make its world premiere at the Viking Yachts and Valhalla Boatworks VIP Preview in Riviera Beach, Florida, on January 29 and 30.

Valhalla Boatworks: A New Center-Console From Viking Yachts

Viking Yachts CEO Pat Healey shocked the boating world at the recent Miami Yacht Show by announcing a brand-new line of center-consoles called Valhalla Boatworks. Viking is known as a legendary American  boat builder and is the unrivaled leader when it comes to the construction of tournament-winning sportfishing yachts. In recent years, the Viking team has developed several smaller models in their feet including the popular Billfish Series and the new 44 Convertible. Aimed at enticing large center-console owners to make the leap into a larger sportfishing yachts, the Billfish series has sold dozens of hulls and will introduce a new 46 model this Summer.

The first three Valhalla Boatworks models will include the V-41, V-37, and a V-33. “Valhalla Boatworks was developed to allow our dealers and customers to fulfill a strong desire for high-end center consoles built by the Viking Yacht Company,” says Viking President and CEO Patrick Healey at the press announcement. “It’s a very exciting time and another important chapter in our history of building a better boat every day.”

In an already crowded center-console market, it will be Viking’s reputation and commitment to cutting edge-design that will differentiate them from the competition. Center-Consoles by nature are versatile boats that can be used in a variety of ways and the new Valhalla models are no different. Each model is equipped with a “boat-load” of fishing features for the hardcore angler. Innovative and intelligently designed desk spaces open up the opportunities for multiple in-deck fish boxes, a raised transom live-well, a port dive door for easy entry/exit for divers, strategically placed rod holders, and lots of storage for bait and tackle. Don’t overlook the Valhalla series as a nice day boat either, perfect for snorkeling or anchoring at a sandbar.

As you would expect from the Viking factory, the Valhalla models began with the most technologically advanced hull design, materials, and construction. The designers at the New Gretna based factory employed Michael Peters Yacht Design and their patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel running surface to improve the hull. The MPYD stepped hull design improves performance, stability, and handling. “It’s the most advanced and proven stepped-hull design in the world,” says Viking Design Manager David Wilson. “The twin steps and tunnel not only give you fast and efficient performance but also precise handling and a very stable ride.”

Viking’s sportfishing yachts are also known for their comfortable and conveniently-placed seats. After all, trolling a weedline for 3 hours can be exhausting without a place to sit down. The cockpits on Viking’s sportfish are always designed with an observation mezzanine so that anyone watching the action unfold can do so in comfort. Although somewhat smaller than their larger siblings, the  Valhalla models will also come with an aft mezzanine that is positioned directly behind the helm seats. Lounge seats perfect for sunbathing are also placed on the bow and become a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery while cruising.

Viking has always had a preference for speed and the Valhalla center-consoles will be no different. The V-41, V-37, and V-33 will be powered by four-stroke outboard engines and the owner will have their preference of brand. Depending on the model, the horsepower ratings will range from 300HP to 425HP in either twin, triple, or quad configurations. These engines configurations complimented by the patented stepped-hull design will deliver a best in class performance and fuel efficiency.

All of the components, electronics, and optional tower will all be handled in-house by the Viking team, resulting in exceptional quality control. Viking has several subsidiary companies including Atlantic Marine Electronics, which will provide all of the different electronics packages offered to the owner. Palm Beach Towers will also be responsible for providing and installing the optional hardtops, Marlin Towers, and Gap towers. There is even a dedicated compartment for a Seakeeper Gyro that doesn’t sacrifice any deck space. Having all of these components installed at the factory means that your new Valhalla center-console will be delivered turnkey and ready to fish.

Viking has hinted that we could start to see the new Valhalla models this fall, but no official date has yet to be released. While pricing of each model is also still being kept secret, don’t expect this to be a value-level boat. Viking is a premium brand with all of their sportfishing and motor yacht models costing in the millions. The Valhalla Boatworks models won’t be as much as the new 58 Convertible, but owners can expect a higher price for exceptional quality and performance.

Update on February 4th, 2022: Valhalla Announces New Flagship Model - The V55

The new Valhalla V-55 was announced at the 2022 Viking VIP Event ahead of the upcoming Miami Boat Show. The V55 will be the new flagship model for the luxury center-console brand and will be the largest resin-infused center-console of its kind. It will also be the largest center-console built with the Michael Peters Yacht Design Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel Hull, a design that benefits the speed, efficiency, turning, planing, and performance. 

Seating on the V55 is abundant with 9 Release Marine Chairs on the raised platform behind the helm, mezzanine seating facing aft, two optional cockpit corner seats, and forward seats in the bow. The optional bow table can turn the V55 into a nice cruising boat with al fresco dining opportunities.

Anglers will especially love the dual 65-gallon live-wells, the integrated Seakeeper 9 Gyro space, Gemlux rod holders, multiple tower options, and a choice of either Garmin or Simrad electronics. Below deck, the V55 boasts a spacious salon, a private stateroom with a queen berth, and other sleeping options for guests. 

The V55 will be powered with either quad or quint Mercury V12 600HP Verado engines for serious horsepower and speed. It will begin production this summer and debut at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Update On July 27th, 2020: Valhalla Announces Brand New Model

After the incredible success of their center-console line debut, the Viking factory has announce the all-new Valhalla V-46 . The new model will make its debut at the annual Viking Sea Trial Event at the Viking Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida at the end of January. The new V-46 will feature quad Mercury or Yamaha outboards with a maximum of 1,800HP. 

The new Valhalla V-46, like the rest of the models, is built on the Michael PetersYacht Design double-stepped hull that has proven to be extremely efficient at planing and provides an unbelievable ride. The V-46 features a cabin, seakeeper, loads of fishing equipment, and so much more. Stay tuned as more becomes available on this exciting new model.

Update On October 15th, 2019: Valhalla Boats Will Make Their Public Debut At The Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

The Viking Sea Trial event has passed as well as the Viking media day where editors from major magazines had a chance to vigorously sea trial each Valhalla models. The reviews from the Valhalla media day have been impressive and the test results will soon be revealed. The next chance that the general public will have to climb on board each model will be the 2019 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show that begins on October 30th. Viking's display impresses every year with their collection of sportfish and motor yachts so everyone is excited that center-consoles have now been added to their line-up.

Viking also recently released a brand new "First Look" video of the V-41. The video shows the gorgeous exterior lines, but also the smoothness with which the twin steps and tunnel designed of the hull performs.

Update on July 30th, 2019: Your First Chance To See The All-New Valhalla Boatworks center-console yachts!

The Viking Yachts Sea Trial Event will take place in Atlantic City at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino on September 10th and 11th.  At this annual boat show style event, customers are invited to come tour and sea trial all of Viking's newest models alongside Viking factory representatives. 

This year's event will be the first time that the new Valhalla Boatworks V-Series models will be publicly displayed. "We're really excited to have the new Valhalla V-41 , V-37 , and V-33 at the event this year," said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. "These center-console yachts are going to lead the market and will be an excellent tender option for our Viking customers who own bigger sportfish and motor yachts." Update on 4/26/2019: New Pricing For Valhalla Boatworks Models Finally Released

New information including pricing, options and available hull colors was just made public from Valhalla Boatworks yesterday. The new brochures were made available for all three models: The V41, V37, and V33. (Scroll down for pricing!)

Here's what we know about all three models in terms of construction, mechanical, and standard features:

All Valhalla Boatworks models will be constructed with blister resistant modified vinylester resin in the entire hull for a strong, durable boat.

Viking Yachts has announced a new line of luxury center-consoles at their VIP Event today at the Viking Service Facility in Riviera Beach, FL. Called Valhalla Boatworks , the new company will be dedicated to designing and building high-end center-console's with the same DNA, materials, and construction techniques as their industry-acclaimed sportfishing and motor yachts.

Valhalla Boatworks V41 :

The Valhalla Boatworks V-41 will have one of the most advanced and proven stepped-hull designs in the world. This design provides for a fast and efficient performance but also exceptional maneuverability. Equipped for both coastal cruising and offshore fishing trips, the V-41 will be equipped and customized for both hardcore anglers and motor yacht owners seeking a luxury tender. All models will be powered with four-stroke outboard engines with horsepower ratings from 300 to 425HP in multiple configurations.

Valhalla Boatworks V-37 :

Designed with fishing and cruising in mind, the Valhalla Boatworks V-37 will undoubtedly become a form in the center-console market. An innovative deck design allows for optimal comfort and "fish-ability" with plenty of storage for rods, gear, tackle, and bait. The helm seating is slightly raised for excellent visibility through the wrap-around and frameless Costa Clear windshield. Many of the same comfort features and design that went into Viking's sportfishing yachts are apparent on the new Valhalla center-consoles.

With the efficiency of the stepped-hull design and the direct-fuel-injected engines, the fuel economy and range of the Valhalla Boatworks models will be best-in-class once debuted.

All of Viking's strategically integrated companies are providing resources for the new Valhalla Boatworks line including AME and Palm Beach Towers. Hardtops, Marlin and Gap towers, as well as custom electronics packages, will all be handled within Viking's network ensuring excellent quality control and after-market service.

Viking Makes Valhalla Boats

From the legendary Viking Yachts comes a new breed of center console that sets revolutionary standards

Viking makes Valhalla boats and proudly introduced Valhalla Boatworks in 2019. Through this revolutionary company, Viking designs and builds high-performance center consoles. These center consoles maintain the same Viking quality, craftsmanship and expertise. Such expertise has led the marine industry for 55 years. Valhalla Boatworks mirror’s Viking’s industry-leading customer service and dealer network. The V Series consists of outboard-powered deep-V monohulls. The models range from 33 feet to the recent announcement of a 55 footer, the V-55 . Versatility makes these boats excel as luxurious sport cruisers. They also double as yacht tenders or hard-core fishing boats.

Valhalla Boatwork’s Viking DNA

The V-33 , V-37 , V-41 , V-46 , and now V-55 are a cooperative effort. The Viking Design & Engineering team and Michael Peters Yacht Design (MPYD) collaborate on these amazing vessels. The V Series utilizes MPYD’s patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel running surface. The running surface reduces drag while increasing speed, stability and efficiency.

Each V Series model follows in the footsteps of its convertible stablemate. They are each set up to become the leading center console in their class. The engineering, experience and boatbuilding skill instilled in every model makes this possible. The design traits of Viking convertibles are evident throughout these center consoles. Proud bows, sloping S-shaped sheers, double forward chines, teak helm pods and toe rails, and mezzanine seating are some of the hallmarks. Viking engineering and mechanical prowess shine through as well. Customized Seakeeper installations maintain storage or deck space and mechanical space. Plumbing and electrical systems maintain unmatched levels of perfection.

Let Freedom Ring

The features on the V Series are impressive, giving owners the freedom to personalize the boat for their geographic region and type of use. Owners can Dress each boat to desire with faux teak helm pods and toe rails and teak forward backrests. Other customizables include hardtop underside colors to match the hull, and deck box LED and underwater lights. Premium upholstery can also include Bentley stitching.

No matter the model, the captain has gin-clear visibility. All models pose a wraparound Costa Clear or solid glass windshield. A black acrylic panel spans the width of the console for flush-mounted electronics. The fly-by-wire engine controls have available joystick and power-assist steering. These give the captain effortless vessel command. Quick downward glances allow for regular performance checks via the high-definition engine-monitor. Cupholders for convenience nest in shapely recessed areas, and there’s a port-side glovebox with a 12V and a USB outlet. Bocatech switches – grouped according to function – line the bottom of the panel.

Have a Seat

The seating arrangements give owners the flexibility to adapt to changing fishing and cruising needs. All models come standard with a forward console lounge with dry storage. The Costa Marine upholstered bench seating at the helm features storage and Gemlux rod holders. Cupholders are also found on the backrest.

The aft end of this tooled seating module hides a slide-out cooler topped with a seat cushion. Helm seating options include Llebroc Billfish or Release Marine chairs. Another option is Costa Marine bench seating. Each vessel features flip-up bolsters and armrests. Integrated GG Schmitt transom seats and forward bench seating with backrests can also make a great addition to your V Series vessel. Both options position themselves to maintain maximum deck space.

The console, helm seating module and forward seats all maintain toekick space. This space allows for increased safety and balance. One convenience feature includes a standard port-side dive door. There are also several options such as an anchor chute with plow anchor and windlass as well as a bow thruster.

Pulled From the Top Shelf

The resources of Viking’s integrated company are at the disposal of Valhalla Boatworks. Viking installs standard and custom components of each Valhalla build in-house. This guarantees turnkey delivery. Hardtop package options include top-shelf components in flawless installations. Spreader lights, molded overhead electronics pods, and electric teaser reels are also available.

The consoles of these boats feature a molded-in vanity with freshwater sink. Included is a retractable shower wand, storage under the seating, and an electric head. Also included is access to electronics and the electrical distribution panel. Models come with mechanical and electrical components and systems. This includes racing-style trim tabs and a D/C pressurized freshwater system. There is also color-coded, labeled and numbered wiring with corresponding drawings. Such is an electrical system signature of Viking. Seakeeper installations are engineered in all Valhalla models.

Simply the Best – Created by the Best

These beasts are created by Viking to change the Center Console scene and change the world of these high performance models. Yamaha or Mercury outboards with horsepower ratings from 300 to 425 provide the Valhalla power. The efficiency of the stepped hulls and these engines deliver the best range possible. Power-assist hydraulic steering is the standard. Joystick helm control systems with GPS station-keeping remain optional on all models. The V series debuted at the Viking/Valhalla Dealer Meeting and Sea Trial Event in September 2019. They have continued to revolutionize the boating industry since.
