Our account personnel have extensive experience that allows them to provide an accurate predicted budget, set-up appropriate accounting systems and analyse expenditures. We provide a realistic operating budget based upon our assessment of the Yacht and her planned usage. We train Captains to familiarise them with the procedures. We arrange the delivery of funds to the Yacht and payments to suppliers. We also monitor all expenditures and we supply detailed and clear monthly/quarterly accounts to the Owners.

Floating Life , based in Vacallo, Switzerland, has been in business since 2002, offering a diverse range of services, with a team of over 20 professionals.

Yacht management is the company’s core business. Floating Life fully manages all operational and organisational aspects for yachts, for both private and commercial use, starting at 30 metres (administration, budgeting, supply management and quotes, crew management, planning port and refuelling stops, work lists, emergency support, defining the right flag for the owner, insurance, crew contracts, accounting, expense management, invoice payments, supervision of maintenance works, and more).

The company also works on Fractional Ownership , managing the “Ocean Pearl”, a 42 metre yacht with 5 cabins and a crew of seven. Since its launch in 2010, the ship has been owned by 8 people, working independently, and Floating Life has been working as intermediary between all proprietors, guaranteeing all rules are followed and each one can enjoy the yacht correctly. The company has also created a design for another multi-property vessel.

Floating Life is also active in Charter and Brokerage . Their brokers personally visit the yachts a client is interested in, and, once the vessel has been chosen, they take care of all the paperwork and contract, going on to define the itinerary which is personalised based on the client’s needs. A member of the MYBA, Floating Life adheres to the standards of excellence of the association, supplying over 2000 yachts around the world that satisfy established technical requirements.

Regarding the purchase of a yacht, the company has a full team of professionals, experts in different fields, like finance, technical questions regarding the building processes and contracts, certification, and payments. Over the years, the company have also created their own full custom yachts between 38 and 42 metres, like the M/Y Audace built by Cantiere delle Marche and launched in 2019 for an Italian client.

A division of Floating Life, based in Italy, works in supplying crew uniforms that are made in Italy, following the entire process from the purchase of the fabric and accessories to packaging and sales. The continuity of the range and the quality of the fabric lead to increased durability, making it unnecessary to get new uniforms each year, requiring only the occasional addition every few years.

What Exactly Is Yacht Management, And Why Is It Necessary?

Those well-versed in the superyacht industry will know that owning and operating a crewed yacht over 24m is no easy task. Ever-changing administrative, technical and regulatory requirements can create a minefield of hoops to jump through, not to mention the management of the crew members living and working on your vessel. And for the busy lives of the modern yacht owner, the task is simply too much to take on alone. We teamed up with Switzerland-based yacht management company Floating Life , to learn more about the benefits of outsourcing your yacht management needs to experts in the field.

“It is not simple to achieve this type of certification”, says Manuel Maiano, who is in charge of the charter of FL, “Our company has been submitted to thorough exams that lasted a year and a half. It is only at the end of numerous meetings with all the staff, inspections on our operations, on documents and on the clients satisfaction that the Rina issued its opinion and promoted us with full grades. A true satisfaction that replies to us, considering that already in 2015 we had obtained this coveted certification).” 

In 2012 the ISO (International Organization of Standardization) established that the standard of relative systems of management have to have a common structure, defined as High Level Structure (HLS), applicable to the new standards of ISO and of the future revisions of existing standards. 

According to the regulamentation, the management of the quality is based on seven particular principles:

FABRICS SPECIFICATIONS

Most of our garments are made in Polyamide fabric. Polyamide fibers are obtained through macromolecules. The first available polyamide fibre was nylon, which is still one of the lightest fiber. Nylon is known for its high resistance towards abrasion and tearing. In addition, nylon is elastic and does not crease. Polyamide differentiates from Polyester because it is breathable, hypoallergenic, leaves no reaction on skin, quick dry and extra comfort.
