Do You Need A Licence To Charter A Yacht In Alicante

You do need a license if you are on a bareboat yacht charter, here are some examples of sailing qualifications:

International Certificate of Competence: This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.

RYA Qualifications: If you have the following qualifications you will be able to take a bareboat charter out of Alicante, these include Day Skipper (sail or motor endorsement), Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster.

American Sailing Association (ASA): The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted.

Unlike the rest of the city, a visit to Alicante’s Old Town is a window into the past. In 1691, Alicante was fired at from the sea. In the onslaught, 90% of the city was destroyed. This is evident in the current eclectic mix of modern and old-style buildings. The Old Town retains much of the pre-destruction architecture.

Beside the Town Hall can be found La Ciudad Descubierta (The Discovered City). This permanent exhibition shows the ruins of various houses destroyed by the bombardment and two walls that withstood the attack. One of the walls dates back to the 13th Century and the other to the 16th Century.
