Endeavourcat 30 MKIIEndeavourcat 30 MKII is a 29 ′ 11 ″ / 9.1 m catamaran sailboat designed by Endeavour and built by Endeavour Catamaran Corp. starting in 1998. Rig and SailsAuxilary power, accomodations, calculations. The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more. Classic hull speed formula: Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL Sail Area / Displacement RatioA measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more. SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3 - SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
- D : Displacement in pounds.
Ballast / Displacement RatioA measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize. Ballast / Displacement * 100 Displacement / Length RatioA measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more. D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³ - D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
- LWL: Waterline length in feet
Comfort RatioThis ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more. Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 ) - D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
- LOA: Length overall in feet
- Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet
Capsize Screening FormulaThis formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more. CSV = Beam ÷ ³√(D / 64) Twin 10 hp diesels available as an option. I've become intrigued by a local version of this vessel - will try to get aboard to confirm that the space and layout works for us shortly. I'd love to know if anyone's had experience aboard one of these vessels in conditions similar to what we see in SoCal and up the Pacific Coast during normal summer coastal cruising season. It's a catamaran, but has a comparatively narrow 18'7" beam - curious how she performs going into our normal long period Pacific swell, and how she'd handle our roll-y anchorages compared to a monohull trawler or a beamier sailing catamaran. Comfort at anchor, less rolling underway, and improved speed and economy would be compelling reasons for an upgrade. On economy, I'm hearing reports of 3nmpg at 8kts slow cruise, and about 1.3nmpg at 15kts, which are quite good if true. Similar threads- wallyman424

The name Endeavourcat appears to be unacceptable in Australia. Three quotes have come back for Endeavours with inboards instead of my Endeavourcat 30 with Yamaha 60 hp outboard despite having attached the Surveyors Report and photos. Does it matter if you tell them your boat has a 4.42m beam and the quote comes back at 3.4m? Am I the only person who reads the Product Disclosure Statements that accompany policies? How many people have motors that are more powerful than that specified by the hull and have policies which are invalid as a result? Does it worry people other than myself that there are addendums to the pds which over the pds, such as if you at Airlie Beach you invalidate your but there is no reference to this addendum in the pds? Posts: 1. Re: endeavour cat. The 30' MKII has a design speed of 40% apparent wind. At 15 knots apparent, you sail at hull speed - of course it depends on the point of sail. I have a '98 MKII and I have seen 8.1 knots through the water under sail. I have sailed her in 50+ knots of wind many times.
20 to 30 indicates a coastal cruiser; 30 to 40 indicates a moderate bluewater cruising boat; 40 to 50 indicates a heavy bluewater boat; over 50 indicates an extremely heavy bluewater boat. Images: 4. Re: Endeavourcat 30 New owner. We installed an on demand propane water heater in the port forward locker it worked perfectly, used very little propane and hot water whenever you wanted it. Ours came with a 25 HP honda we replaced it with a 40 efi Honda as it was a great deal.
Great opportunity to score one of the most spacious and comfortable cruising catamarans ever built under $100 K. The Endeavour 30 is much larger than compact catamarans like the Catalacs, Geminis, Prouts, Iroquois and Heavenly Twins. What's more, she's an excellent, highly responsive vessel.
