Come sail with us and experience Duluth, MN and Superior, WI from the water aboard a 60 foot steel schooner! Depending on the weather we’ll either take to the big lake or sail down the harbor. We currently sail on Fridays and Saturdays out of Loon’s Foot Marine in Superior, WI. It’s a great location to either sail out the Wisconsin entry or sail up the harbor to Duluth. We have a full schedule lined up for 2024!

 We will only be doing multi-day trips to Isle Royale and the Canadian North Shore this summer and I'm afraid we won't be doing any scheduled day sail tours.  All of our trips are full but it's never too early to contact us about next year!

Amicus II gets a major refit over the winter.

 Amicus II’s keel gathers no moss.  This year we sailed close to 2000 miles and most of those were liveaboard miles.  Amicus II hardly skipped a beat because we put a lot of effort into keeping the boat in excellent working condition. This fall and winter we will be doing a major refit on the engine,  going through all of the onboard systems and if all goes well,  building a new aluminum dodger.

Apostle Islands Bareboat Sailing Charters

Skipper your own sailboat on lake superior, the term ‘bareboat’ refers to an arrangement for the chartering of a boat, whereby no crew or provisions are included. instead, the guests who rent the vessel from the charter company are responsible for sailing and managing the yacht during the charter, including providing their own provisions..

Bareboat charters are perfect for experienced sailors who can easily manage the responsibility of sailing and maintaining their vessel while on the water. Sailing is a physical activity that people of all ages can participate in and appreciate, but being physically fit will increase sailing performance and safety. These trips are hands-on activities that require complete, unaided mobility getting on and off docks, boats, and dinghies.

To ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable bareboat charter experience, we want to be sure that you and your crew are knowledgeable in handling the yacht you have chosen. We ask that you complete our  Boating Resume  upon checkout to help us determine your sailing skill level.

To be a qualified skipper, we are looking for you to meet the following criteria:

• Recent charter experience aboard a vessel of similar size/type – If it’s been longer than three years since you’ve last sailed, we may have to schedule you for a training refresher.
• Or ownership of a vessel of similar size and type – This means you know how to confidently handle similar sized vessels.
• And/or completion of a qualified charter certification program – We’ll want to know about your sailing school experience, so give us the low-down.
