The beautiful city of Dubrovnik, also known as “The pearl of the Mediterranean”, is one of the most popular yacht charter destinations in the world. This charming Croatian city will make you fall in love with its history, culture and walls that speak of centuries-old stories. Moreover, when you start your yacht charter in Dubrovnik, you will benefit from a local crew who will be happy to tell you about interesting experiences in this city.

Dubrovnik is located in southern Croatia, divided from the rest of the country by Bosnia, so you will be able to visit two countries in just one day. Amazing, right? Near Dubrovnik, you can also visit the Elaphiti islands – a small archipelago with untouched nature, sandy beaches and crystal clear sea; the islands are mostly uninhabited and ideal for a yacht charter vacation.

During your yacht charter in Dubrovnik, you can enjoy various stunning beaches where you can swim, snorkel or sunbathe on the most beautiful European beach – Pasjača beach, according to the famous travel website European best destinations.

If you want to charter a yacht and the city of Dubrovnik is on your wishlist, keep reading…

WHY CHARTER IN DUBROVNIK

Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it should be on everyone’s wish list. With its astonishing history and unsurpassed beauty, you will feel like a king in a castle, walking on high walls and through centuries-old streets. From your yacht charter, you can enjoy a stunning view of amazing fortresses; berth in the Old Town port and chit-chat with locals or anchor next to the mysterious island of Lokrum – located just a few minutes from the city.

I already mentioned the island of Lokrum, but during your yacht charter in Dubrovnik , you can easily visit 13 more beautiful islands that surround it. They are mostly uninhabited with immaculate nature, lovely lighthouses, old monasteries, botanical gardens, sandy beaches and much more .

For movie fanatics, a yacht charter in Dubrovnik is a real treat. Taking photos where Games of Thrones , Star Wars , Robin Hood and many more movies were filmed is amazing – you can play the role of a movie star for a day. Moreover, Dubrovnik is only 30 minutes from Montenegro and Bosnia so you will be able to visit these two countries with ease.

WHEN TO CHARTER IN DUBROVNIK

Whenever you want! Dubrovnik is a city with a typical Mediterranean climate, mild winters and warm and dry summers. Winters in Dubrovnik are pleasant, and the average daily temperature is around 10°C (50℉), but for a truly beautiful yacht charter in Dubrovnik, we recommend the months between April and November.

This period we can divide into three parts: The “Heart” of the season – July and August, the middle season – May, June and September and the low season – April and November.

The heart of the season is ideal for those who like to enjoy hot summers and busy cities. What is great is that you can always find a secluded bay with your yacht charter in Dubrovnik and enjoy 100% privacy, even on the busiest day of the year. Furthermore, during this period you will have the opportunity to attend the Dubrovnik Summer Festival – one of the most important cultural festivals in Croatia.

During the mid-season, beaches are not too crowded and the temperature is ideal for both kids and adults. The days are sunny and the sea temperature is perfect. For guests who do not like mingling too much, this is the perfect time for a yacht charter in Dubrovnik.

And the low season is when the temperatures are around 18 to 21°C (65 to 70 degrees °F) which are ideal for charter guests who do not prefer over-the-top weather conditions. Winds in Dubrovnik are mild and the sea is peaceful. This time of the year is amazing if you want to explore the real Dubrovnik and witness every street, cathedral and island in all their glory.

HOW TO GET TO DUBROVNIK

The best way to arrive to your yacht charter in Dubrovnik is by plane or a private jet. The well-connected Dubrovnik airport has a direct line from the USA, as well as from a lot of European cities. Furthermore, your yacht can wait for you in the small city of Cavtat which is just a few minutes away from the airport and a few minutes of cruising from Dubrovnik.

If you decide to come by car, you should ask your local broker – SuperYachts Croatia , to reserve a parking slot for you, since Dubrovnik is swamped by road traffic in the heart of the season. In addition, if you do not want to think about transport, SuperYachts Croatia will arrange everything for you – your plane, car and yacht will be waiting for you whenever you want.

Walk through the Walls of Dubrovnik

The Walls of Dubrovnik used to be a powerful defence system, but today they are a unique cultural and historical heritage of Dubrovnik . They are the biggest tourist attraction and the most popular part of the city. It is an even better experience when you can explore them in peace, with an easy walk alongside two kilometres of groomed trails, while also watching your magical yacht charter next to them.

The Walls are one of the most monumental fortifications in Europe, and the construction of the first fortresses began in the 8th century. More intensive construction lasted from the middle of the 15th to the end of the 16th century, and although they were hit by an earthquake in 1667, the walls were not damaged too much.

Historic walls surround the city in the shape of an irregular polygon, and you will be able to experience 16 towers and bastions, as well as a total of five fortresses: Micčeta, St.John, Bokar, Lovrijenac and Revelin. The unique and stunning Walls of Dubrovnik were recognized by UNESCO , which included them on the World Heritage List .

Visit the first Croatian underwater winery

Just a few years ago, the first underwater winery opened less than an hour north of Dubrovnik. The town of Drače on the Pelješac peninsula holds a long and rich culture of winemaking. There are also amazing cultural sights and a lot of natural beauty. You can visit from land or dive right in and explore the whole winery.

Furthermore, you will come across various surprising things, and certainly the most interesting is the old sunken ship in the Mali Ston bay. Here, you can buy a bottle of unique wine straight from an underwater winery and enjoy it during your yacht charter in Dubrovnik; it can be one of the best presents you can gift your friends back home.

Everyone likes them, especially if you can share them with your loved ones during your yacht charter in Dubrovnik. Sunsets around Dubrovnik are truly magical since you can follow the sun as it starts to slowly touch the Walls of Dubrovnik, kissing the sea and making way for the moon.

It is important to state that the most beautiful sunset views are from your yacht or the Srđ mountain . In addition, your private chef can always serve your dinner right before sunset so you can enjoy the spectacular view while tasting the best food ever.

While in Dubrovnik, you need to try the local dessert – Dubrovačka rožata , which is part of the gastronomic heritage of medieval Dalmatia and survived despite many influences from the Venetian and Ottoman Empires. The first records of the Dubrovačka rožata date back to the time of the Venetians, and in 1300 it was recorded under the name “friar’s pudding”.

The Venetians are long gone, but this dessert is still here, with traces of influences from French cuisine. It is a caramelized shell in which rožata is cooked and the main ingredient is a rose liqueur. But at the end of the day, your private chef can also prepare all the wonderful delicacies and specialities you sampled during your yacht charter in Dubrovnik.

OUR SUGGESTED SEVEN-DAY YACHT CHARTER IN DUBROVNIK

A yacht charter in Dubrovnik is once in a lifetime experience, especially with a local yacht broker who will show you the best spots known only to the local experiences, and create unique yachting experiences for you and your charter guests.

Yacht Charter in Dubrovnik cruising map

Day 1: Dubrovnik – Lokrum island

On the first day of your yacht charter in Dubrovnik, we recommend spending some time near the city of Dubrovnik, where you can explore its surroundings by yacht or on foot. This Pearl of the Adriatic will leave you speechless, thanks to its magical old town.

Moreover, you can anchor your yacht near the island of Lokrum and enjoy a magical view of Dubrovnik`s old town. You will be able to experience a picnic on Lokrum island, which is the perfect getaway place for Dubrovnik`s locals and their guests.

The island of Lokrum is declared a special reserve under the protection of UNESCO, with a botanical garden containing an enviable collection of eucalyptus and cactus, as well as beautiful gardens and parks. Walk slowly through the vegetation and refresh yourself in the shade of black ash or rest under the swaying treetops of Aleppo pine.

Moreover, this island has a salty lake in its centre, in which you can jump from a 10m high rock. This is a perfect Instagramable spot, with rare animal species like protected turtles and peacocks.

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik

Day 2: Lopud island- Šipan island

Lopud is the most developed among the Elaphite Islands , a small archipelago containing several isles located northwest of Dubrovnik. It is also the second-largest in terms of size, while a favourable climate allows for nearly 2600 hours of sunshine each year.

A mild climate has led to the development of lush and rich Mediterranean and subtropical vegetation with lemons, oranges, pines, cypresses and palm trees. Your local yacht captain will want to take you to Šunj – a sandy beach considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the Croatian Adriatic sea. The sandy shoal of this beach stretches a few hundred meters from the shore, which makes the bay ideal for a family yacht charter in Dubrovnik.

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik

Day 3: The Island of Šipan –  Pelješac peninsula

The biggest island of the Elaphite archipelago is Šipan, which is also listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest ratio of olive trees to the population of its total area, is a must-see during your yacht charter in Dubrovnik.

A lot of people from Dubrovnik come to this magical island because of the astonishing restaurant Bowa, where you can berth your yacht and enjoy delicious food. This attractive restaurant is located right by the sea, with tables under the canopies set on charming oak and fir constructions which makes it an inviting place for a meal. Swim, sunbathe and have fun with your water toys while waiting for the food.

After lunch, we recommend a visit to the city of Ston on the Pelješac peninsula . The “City of Salt” will amaze you with its rich history and numerous attractions. As soon as you step into Ston, you will feel as if you have travelled back into the distant past; tradition is woven into every stone and building.

While spending time in Ston, visit the famous saltworks, one of the three saltworks in Croatia, and the oldest in Europe, dating back to the 14th century. It was formed after the Republic of Ragusa bought Ston in the year 1333. Ston was surrounded by defensive walls, which are a popular attraction and by length, second only to the Great Wall of China.

Moreover, if you opt for swimming, sunbathing or playing with water toys, we recommend you anchor in the famous Prapratno bay. This is one of the most beautiful bays in this part of Pelješac, with a long sandy beach in an area overgrown with pine forests.

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik

Day 4 – Pelješac peninsula – Mljet National Park

The island of Mljet is the most forested of all the Croatian Adriatic islands, and unquestionably, one of the most attractive. It is perfect for enjoying the beauty of untouched nature that will enchant everyone who visits this enchanting isle. Mljet is an island of mystery, with rich forests, beautiful beaches and an incredibly blue sea, ideal for enjoying pristine nature.

You can ride an e-bike through the National Park or just enjoy an al-fresco dining experience on the Greenest Croatian island. Here, you can explore the Veliko lake, with an islet of St. Mary and a church and monastery founded in the 12th century by the Benedictines of Monte Gargano in Italy. Alternative targets for exploration also are the Malo lake and the Odysseus Cave .

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik

Day 5 -Mljet National Park – Lastovo Island

A small and inhabited island, Lastovo is the perfect place for those looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, in untouched and beautiful nature. Lastovo island has a mild Mediterranean climate and due to its good position, it has more than 2700 hours of sunshine a year.

Lastovo also has the starriest sky in Europe and if you embark on a yacht charter in Dubrovnik during the summer, you will be able to see one of the most beautiful astronomical phenomena – the Perseid meteor shower . Make a wish and enjoy this beautiful island.

For swimming and snorkelling, we recommend the Porto Rosso beach complemented with a nautical centre and a great restaurant, ideal for yacht charter guests. Lastovo also harbours one of the oldest lighthouses in the Croatian Adriatic.

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik

Day 6: Island of Lastovo – Island of Korčula

You will feel as if you have stepped back in time when you arrive on the i sland of Korčula , which has been inhabited since prehistoric times. This is the sixth-largest island in Croatia and is truly worth visiting and exploring. The city of Korčula is surrounded by 13th-century walls and it is one of the best-preserved fortified medieval towns in Croatia.

Until the beginning of the 18th century, it was forbidden to build outside the city walls, and visitors entered via a wooden drawbridge. Another fun fact about Korčula is that Marco Polo , one of the world’s biggest historical travellers, was born on this island and spent his childhood in one of the houses that are still there.

Korčula is not only a historical place; it has a lot of stunning beaches and bays where you can spend your yacht charter vacation in Croatia peacefully. If you are ready for the perfect Instagram place – swing on a swing on Moro beach. If you prefer sandy beaches, seek out Vela Pržina and Bilin Žal. Finally, for one of the most beautiful islets in the world, according to the New York Times , visit Proizd – only a few minutes from Korčula.

If you are looking for a good restaurant on this amazing island, let your charter crew reserve a table in LD Terrace – a Michelin starred restaurant.

Yacht charter in Split

Day 7: Island of Korčula – City of Dubrovnik

On your last day,  cruise back from Korčula to Dubrovnik . You can always ask your yacht captain to stop on a stunning beach or an isolated bay for a swim or one last ride with some of the water toys. When you arrive back in Dubrovnik, your local broker at SuperYachts Croatia can arrange transportation to the airport for you or if you want to stay in Croatia – we can book another yacht to continue your perfect yacht charter vacation.

Explore the history of Dubrovnik

Did you know that the historic name for Dubrovnik is Ragusa? The story behind it stems from the time when the prehistoric settlements in the area of what was then called Laus were destroyed by Slavs who were invading the area. Under Slavic rule the name first changed from Laus to Raus and later to Ragusa. Don’t get mixed up though, Ragusa and Dubrovnik were not the same place. Ragusa was located off of the mainland and only became part of Dubrovnik later on. Dubrovnik was founded around the same time that Raus became Ragusa. The name Dubrovnik comes from the word ‘dubrava’ meaning wood or ‘dub’ which means oak. Some historians are suspicious of the theory that Dubrovnik was only founded back then and believe that the city flourished from a Greek settlement that has been here before. The City Walls of Dubrovnik are one of the most impressive sights to see in the city.

The old town of Dubrovnik is an impressive remnant of the 13th century and basically hasn’t changed since then - at least what remained since the earthquake in 1667 destroyed part of the old town and what tolls the city took in the Yugoslawian war of 1991/1992. Stradun is one of the streets that has been rebuilt after the earthquake and hasn’t changed much since. Stroll around the city’s streets to travel back in time. Even though Venice ruled over the city for a while the city remained a republic in its own right until Napoleon entered the city.

The Minceta Tower is an impressive fort that was built in the 15th century. You should visit this building for the history as well as the views and if you’re a “Game of Thrones”-fan. Another impressive fortress that remains from the 15th century is Bokar Fortress .

Discover mystical Dubrovnik

Legend has it that the island of Mljet which is located just off the coast of Dubrovnik is the place where Odysseus fell for the nymph Calypso after being shipwrecked on the island in the midst of a terrible storm and she bewitched him. He stayed here for seven long years before finally being able to return home.

Sailing conditions in Dubrovnik

Sailing around Dubrovnik means you are facing the weather conditions of South Croatia. Sailing season is between May and September, although some people opt for heading out at sea in April and October when the winds can be stronger.

Expect around 300 days full of sunshine throughout the year. The summer months June, July and August are most popular among tourists. Hot temperatures, warm water temperatures and less wind make Dubrovnik the perfect destination for a summer boat vacation. If you want to avoid the crowds, but still enjoy nice weather and water temperatures, September is the best time to travel to Dubrovnik.

How much does it cost to rent a boat in Dubrovnik?

Renting a boat in Dubrovnik doesn’t have to be expensive - in fact, Croatia is one of the cheapest sailing destinations in the Mediterranean. The price to rent a boat in Dubrovnik and Croatia highly depends on the season, the type and size of the boat you want to rent, the number of passengers and the age of your boat.

On average it will cost just 30 EUR per person per day to rent a speedboat in Croatia . Charter a motorboat in Croatia for 62 EUR per person per day. You see that it really doesn’t have to be expensive to rent a boat in this part of the Mediterranean and can be even cheaper than booking a hotel room. Renting a gulet in Croatia will cost 75 EUR per person per day on average. At an average price of 460 EUR per person per day catamarans are the most expensive types of boats you can rent in Croatia . However, keep in mind that these are only average prices and you can always find cheaper and more expensive boats here.

What type of boat is best for sailing in Dubrovnik?

What type of boat you should rent in Dubrovnik highly depends on the type of boat holiday you would like to experience in this part of the Adriatic sea. A relaxing beach holiday would require you to rent a different kind of boat than the one you would rent when you want to practice your sailing skills and go on an adventure.

Rent a catamaran in Dubrovnik

Pros of renting a catamaran in Dubrovnik

One of the advantages of renting a catamaran in Dubrovnik is the fact that catamarans have a shallow draft. This makes them the perfect choice to explore the Adriatic coast with all its hidden and secluded bays and beaches. You won’t risk hitting something deep under water.

Another advantage of chartering a catamaran in Dubrovnik is the fact that catamarans are equipped with sails as well as motors. You get the best of both worlds. Sail with the winds when they are blowing and use the motor when they suddenly stop blowing. This ensures that you won’t suddenly get stuck in the middle of the sea with no means to drive to your destination.

If you prefer to have a very relaxed sailing vacation in Dubrovnik, you should rent a catamaran because of its size. They are more spacious than other types of boats and can feel more like a hotel room than a boat cabin.

One of the most popular catamarans to rent in Dubrovnik is Catamaran Lagoon 400 S2 which offers space for up to 11 people and can be chartered with or without a captain. Hiring a captain in addition to your bareboat charter means that you can enjoy your sailing vacation fully without having to worry about navigating and operating your boat. The catamaran also comes with a deck shower, meaning that you can rinse off the sea water right after climbing back on board.

Cons of renting a catamaran in Dubrovnik

One of the downsides of renting a catamaran in Dubrovnik can be their size. While it might be extremely comfortable to have a proper room to sleep in, the size of a catamaran might come with difficulties of mooring at the marinas, especially during the busy summer months. It might also come with a higher price. Try to find a quiet bay instead to anchor for the night. It will save you a lot of hassle and money - and comes with much better views when waking up in the morning.

Rent a sailboat in Dubrovnik

Pros of renting a sailboat in Dubrovnik

One of the advantages of renting a sailboat in Dubrovnik is the fact that they are equipped with a sail, meaning that you can use the wind as fuel rather than paying for actual fuel. It is going to save you quite a bit of money.

One of the most popular sailboats to rent in Dubrovnik is Sailboat Bavaria Cruiser 51 . Up to 11 people can fit on board the boat. One of the amenities on board is the deck shower which means that you can rinse yourself quickly after swimming in the sea.

Cons of renting a sailboat in Dubrovnik

One of the downsides of chartering a sailboat in Dubrovnik is the fact that sailboats completely depend on the wind. Some sailboats might be equipped with a small motor, but it’s not made to last for long distances. During the summer months the winds are not as strong as during the winter months - something to keep in mind when thinking about chartering a sailboat in this part of the Adriatic.

Another downside of sailboats is the fact that they don’t leave a lot of space on deck. The sailing equipment takes up most of the space here, meaning that you don’t get to sunbathe here too comfortably.

Rent a motorboat in Dubrovnik

Pros of renting a motorboat in Dubrovnik

One of the advantages of renting a motorboat in Dubrovnik is the fact that they have a shallow draft. Like catamarans they are the perfect boats to discover all the hidden bays and beaches the Croatian coast and the surrounding islands have to offer. There are so many stunning islands in close proximity to Dubrovnik that you will be happy to rent a motorboat to explore them all.

Another advantage of motorboats is their speed. As they are faster than other types of boats, motorboats are taking you faster from one place to another. This means that you get to see many different places in a short amount of time.

One of the most popular motorboats to rent in Dubrovnik is Motorboat Jeanneau Leader 8 which offers space for up to 8 people on board and comes with a professional captain as well as wifi on board. The snorkelling equipment on board ensures that you are prepared for some additional fun activities.

Cons of renting a motorboat in Dubrovnik

One of the downsides of renting a motorboat is the fact that they solely run on fuel. It is not cheap to pay for the fuel you’re going to use on your sailing adventures around Dubrovnik. It is not a cheap undertaking considering the ever-increasing fuel prices.

The city of Dubrovnik is a monument in itself as a whole. About 30 years ago, UNESCO recognized the value of Dubrovnik. The Dubrovnik Republic lasted until 1808 and was the most glorious period of the Dubrovnik history, which perfected the city and its life through its Statutes and other historical documents. Aci marina Komolac is located near the town of Dubrovnik and has about 300 berths.

What awaits you in Dubrovnik?

The villa of Petar Sorkočević from 1521, with its Renaissance arcades on the ground floor and Gothic monophores and triforas upstairs certainly dominates the lower part of the bay in Komolac where the ACI marina is located. No wonder the Sorkocevic family chose this location back in the 16th century for their summer residence because of all the benefits this place has to offer. The natural protection, the abundance of fresh water at the mouth of the Omble River make Komolac an ideal place for a new group of people - boaters.

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik is a good idea!

It is located ACI Marina Dubrovnik with its 425 berths in the sea and 140 places on land. What will surely delight you is the beautiful setting you will find yourself in. You are surrounded by picturesque hills that close the bay on all sides, you are surrounded by greenery all the time, and the facilities at your disposal make sure you do not hurry to leave the marina. However, you are close to Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful cities in the world , so it would be a pity not to visit this jewel of the Mediterranean. As a boater who does not have his own transport here, there is a bus every 15 minutes that will take you downtown without the hassle of parking. Of course, there is a taxi, the choice is yours.

Of course, you do not have time to see all the wonders that this city has to offer, so this time you decide to take an easy stroll around Stradun, ice cream or coffee somewhere you like along the way. One of the nicer places to choose in these circumstances is the famous Buza, a place at the foot of the southern walls of the city, on the very cliffs. Coffee, beautiful views, a short swim from the rocks, waving cruisers in the aisle - a natural stress eliminator. After that, walk to the old port, Stradun and rest at Onofrio's fountain with the sounds of traditional Konavle rock instruments.

Welcome to a place where your toughest decision will be whether to start your day with a coffee or with a refreshing cocktail. The second hardest thing for us was checking out on Saturday. Thank you Ardura crew :)

Nicholas G.

Last summer we went on a family sailing trip on Ardura, which was the best experience and we have the best memories of each detail of the trip starting from the complete crew. They were all great and gave us all the best service 24 hours a day. They were always happy and willing to give us the best experience. I hope one day soon we shall be able to repeat this trip again.

Victoria I.

Our plan was to charter a motor yacht from Dubrovnik, but it wasn't available for our dates. Pjero helped us find an alternative, and we chartered the Acapella sailing yacht from Dubrovnik to Split. The yacht was brand new, and the trip and the service were outstanding. It was such a wonderful experience.

Thank you for the wonderful experience and smooth communication. Sara made the process painless, and I can not wait to visit Croatia again. Great experience with these guys!

We were two families and rented Nautitech 56 for a day in Dubrovnik. It was one of the greatest holidays. The captain was super friendly and attentive. We visited Elaphiti islands, went cave-diving, and had a great lunch on one of the islands. I give my best recommendations to Dubrovnik Charter and Pjero, the owner.

We recommend to hire a boat Dubrovnik, Croatia in the spring and late summer and avoiding the peak season of July and August. Even though the weather is nice and warm during that time of year, tourism peaks in the middle of summer, so you may want to book a trip for April, May, June, September, or October, so you can experience the beautiful weather and calm waters without the hustle and bustle of crowded cruise ports and a high population of tourists. Dubrovnik has always been known to be a wonderful city to visit in Croatia, but it has grown in popularity in recent years with an influx of cruise ship stops and even more visitors who know the city as the filming location for HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” So keep in mind tourism patterns when deciding when to book.

Because you can fly directly into Dubrovnik, there are no limitations to what you can get up to before you board your yacht. Spend a day or two meandering the historic city streets, feasting on local fare , and embracing the beauty of the coast from just about anywhere.

After exploring the Dalmatian coast, stop to swim in the waters off the island of Lopuc before you make it back to Dubrovnik.

To help you get the most from your luxury yacht charter along Croatia’s turquoise coast, take a look at our 8-day yacht charter itinerary, which is packed with useful tips and information about each destination.

Begin in Dubrovnik Distance: 25 nm*

Begin in Dubrovnik

A city steeped in incredible history and timeless wonder, Dubrovnik marks the start of your yachting adventure.

Yacht-goers visiting Dubrovnik will find it hard not to be enchanted by the city’s charm and allure. The limestone streets are scattered with historical sites and cultural relics, including the famous Rector’s Palace and the fortification walls which skirt around the edge of the city. Head up the hills on the cable cars and stop for lunch with a view at Panorama.

If you are visiting during July, you would be remiss not to check out the famous Dubrovnik Summer Festival. This seven-week celebration of culture, music and the arts light up the city in festivity and joy, creating an unbeatable atmosphere to soak up on your yacht charter .

Head to Mljet Distance: 25 nm*

Head to Mljet

Choose to dine on board your yacht, or step on shore and sample mouthwatering cuisine at Nautika, a superb seafood restaurant.

After an evening in Dubrovnik, wake up feeling refreshed ready to cruise west to the island of Mljet. This secluded sanctuary is part covered in National Park, it serves as tranquil a haven away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Drop anchor and enjoy plenty of opportunities to snorkel, cycle or kayak.

The island is home to a pair of beautiful lakes, each backed by bijou beaches that make for an unrivalled day of relaxing under the Mediterranean sun. In the middle of one of the lakes sits a small rocky outpost, upon which sits the Benedictine Monastery of St Marys Island. Here, you can enjoy a small Game of Thrones museum and a cafe serving cooling drinks and gelato.

Experience Lastovo Island Distance: 40 nm*

Experience Lastovo Island

Perfectly pristine and utterly unspoilt, Lastovo Island is one of the best-kept secrets in Croatia.

Having only recently become open to foreign yachts, Lastovo Island is still a new addition the Croatia yacht charter itinerary. However, it is quickly set to become popular, owing to its incredible scenery and numerous dive sites.

Surrounded by a myriad of islets and home to miles of untouched beaches, Lastovo makes a great place to drop anchor and soak up the sun from the deck of your yacht. Take the water toys out for a spin, or head on shore for a beach picnic. There is a local market on the island where you can purchase fresh seafood; ask your yacht chef to prepare a feast of spoils from the local fishermen.

Discover the Dalmatian Island of Vis Distance: 10 nm*

Discover the Dalmatian Island of Vis

What Vis lacks in development it more than makes up for in rustic charm and rugged beauty.

Cruising further west, your crewed yacht charter will take to you to Vis. The pint-sized Croatian island of Vis gets a star billing in the Mamma Mia sequel, putting its clear aquamarine waters, brick-red roofs, and pine-clad terrains front and centre. The island is a closely-guarded secret of the yachting community, but a truly unmissable of any East Mediterranean private yacht charter.

Those looking to jump in the sea and cool off will be well catered-to, as Vis plays host to water so clear it resembles polished glass, with fine-pebbled beaches adding to the allure of this yachting destination. Among the most famous beaches of the island is Stiniva Beach, a narrow strip of pebbles framed by steep, 35-high cliffs.

Soak up the beauty of Hvar Distance: 10 nm*

Soak up the beauty of Hvar

Step on shore to experience Hvar, an island that balances Old-World beauty with lively buzz.

You’d be forgiven for mistaking Hvar for a tropical oasis, with crystal-clear water and palm trees lining the central marina. After some R&R over the past two days, you will be glad to disembark your yacht and soak up the scenes and sights of Hvar.

Take a walk through the city’s winding cobbled streets, which are cool and narrow and lined with picturesque flower boxes. Then, be sure to stop at the Renassiance-era cathedral in the heart of Hvar, and enjoy a some ice-cream and a cup of coffee overlooking the central square.

Soak up the beauty of Hvar

The famous beach of Brac Distance: 15 nm*

The famous beach of Brac

One of the most photographed beaches in Croatia is Zlatni Rat, a triangle of golden sand ringed by shades of turquoise.

Just a stone’s throw from Hvar sits the island of Brac, which is home to numerous gorgeous beaches and sites for snorkelling and swimming. One such beach is Zlatni Rat, which translates to ‘golden horn’ in Croatian.

Mediterranean pine groves cover most of the outcrop, creating a pretty setting that is popular among yacht-goers and locals alike. One side of the island generally feels more wind, and attracts surfers. The other is quieter, and perfect for paddling or enjoying a light meal overlooking the azure Adriatic.

The famous beach of Brac

Onwards to Trogir Distance: 10 nm*

Onwards to Trogir

Enjoy an overnight cruise to Trogir, and wake up idling in emerald water surrounded by beautiful views overlooking the Venetian-style city of Trogir.

Be sure to head out onto the deck of your superyacht to admire your arrival into Trogir. The town is veined by canals and waterways, with red-roofed houses huddled along the waterfront and plenty of examples of Baroque architecture sprinkled across the town.

Those looking for a dose of Dalmation culture and history will find it in Trogir, where a day can easily be spent ambling along the water or getting lost in the maze-like marble streets.

Finish in Split

Finish in Split

Your yacht charter adventure ends in Split, Croatia's second-largest city and one of the certified yachting hubs of the Adriatic.

Split offers a vibrant mix of things to see and do, so there’ll be plenty to keep you occupied, even though your yacht charter has come to an end. The city is famed for its crystalline seas and beaches that you can visit with ease, even from the heart of the city.

Visitors to Split should make it a priority to visit the Diocletian’s Palace, an ancient remnant of Roman influence on Croatia. It is hailed as the best preserved pieces of Roman architecture in the world, and features imposing walls and turrets throughout.

7-day Sailing Dubrovnik to Dubrovnik – Itinerary 1

Itinerary dubrovnik 1.

Dubrovnik – Kobas (Peljesac) – Pomena (Mljet) – Zaklopatica (Lastovo) – Vela Luka (Korcula) – Korcula (Korcula) – Prozura (Mljet) - Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik - Kobaš (Pelješac)

Dubrovnik - Kobaš (Pelješac)

Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the ideal starting point for your sailing vacation in Croatia owing to its distinctive combination of culture, history, pristine natural beauty, breathtaking vistas, and sceneries.

A catamaran or a sailboat charter is the best way to experience this well-known Adriatic pearl and south Dalmatian islands. Set sail from Dubrovnik to follow Croatia's best sailing routes. Enjoy the islands Korula, Mljet, and Lastovo from the comfort of a private boat.

The little Croatian settlement of Koba or Uvala Kobaš is situated in the Channel of Ston, about 2.5 miles from the Vratnik Passage. The cove of Koba's sandy beach and secluded marina has been a growing attraction among sailing enthusiasts. There are no contemporary marinas or large, elaborated waterfronts here. Sailing boats are anchored at the rear on the possibly handmade wooden docks of traditional Konoba-style restaurants.

The cove is well secured from most winds except the North Wind (Bura). There are many small piers dot the cove, which can berth up to 18m in depth. It takes 4 hours to sail from Dubrovnik to Kobas, a distance of 17 NM.

It is an awesome place to dock for lunch. The tucked-away underdeveloped town is famous for its fresh seafood. You can find modest taverns and waterfront restaurants that serve freshly picked oysters and grilled mussels at prices that seem like a bargain, even in a country like Croatia.

Kobaš - Pomena (Mljet)

Kobaš - Pomena (Mljet)

Pomena is a small port village in the heart of the National Park of Mljet. In this village of 50 permanent residents, farming, tourism, and fishing are the primary sources of income. Being very close to Dubrovnik and connected to it by a regular boat line, Pomena is a unique tourist destination. It is 25 NM from Kobas. This quiet town can get busy during summer.

As part of the preserved natural and historical environment while retaining the advantages of the proximity to a large city center such as Dubrovnik.

Various accommodation and recreation possibilities are offered in Pomena, and the island of Mljet, a national park. This spot must not be overlooked when you sail through the Adriatic.

It is 15 minutes walk to Malo Jezero (Small Lake) of the extraordinarily lush Mljet National Park through the village. Around two-thirds of the island is covered by forest. You can take a boat to the monastery on Sv Marija Island or seek out the biking trails among the lakes in the national park. Explore the hiking trails if you wish to have a change in view.

As a bay, it's particularly safe because it's protected by Pomestak, a tiny island that also serves as a local naturist beach. The perfect place to drop your anchor and spend the night under the stars.

Pomena - Zaklopatica (Lastovo)

Pomena - Zaklopatica (Lastovo)

Zaklopatica is a cove on the north side of Lastovo, only 2 km from the town of Lastovo. It is safe and sheltered. This turquoise bay is Lastove best-kept secret. Almost closed up by the isle in front of it that shares its name, the entrances to the cove are 1–7 m deep. Smaller boats can berth at its modest riva or in the middle of the cove up to 15 meters deep. The distance from Pomena to this cove is approximately 23 NM. Zaklopatica is a perfect starting point for exploring Lastovo's beautiful natural environment via land, sailing, or diving.

The bay has a reasonable number of eateries, konoba, and cafes and is a safe haven for sailors. Some restaurants allow free docking for their customers. A row of private accommodations and villas encircles the bay, providing various cosy lodging options. Taste heavenly food at the Konoba Triton restaurant while absorbing a breathtaking view of the bay. The restaurant is known for its daily catch menus prepared with old family recipes.

Zaklopatica's dark skies and low light pollution make it the perfect place for stargazing. The island is acknowledged as owning the prettiest night sky in Europe. A leisurely mooring at Zaklopatica can indeed be the perfect after-sailing respite.

Zaklopatica - Vela Luka (Korčula)

Zaklopatica - Vela Luka (Korčula)

Vela Luka is a place of great charm with a rich history located on Korcula island. The boat ride between Lastovo (Island) and Vela Luka covers an approximate distance of 23 NM. Vela Luka is a small lovely old town with a beautiful harbour with a wide range of activities.

The area of Vela Luka on the island of Korčula bears archaeological evidence of habitation as early as the Old Stone Age - 20,000 B.C. To the present day, the Illyrians, Romans and Slavic peoples have all left their marks on this soil, with the Vela Luka of today blossoming from the 18th century to the present day. Catch a glimpse of the past by visiting Vela Luka's interesting sight, the Vela Spila or Great Cave. An extraordinary prehistoric cave dwelling in Europe.

A trip around town reveals many historic areas and buildings - combined with a picturesque sea view. The city is located at the end of a 9.2km long bay offering excellent shelter from the elements. Trips are organized daily from here to the many surrounding islands, including the well-known Proizd and Ošjak. Spend your day swimming in its Instagram-worthy quiet beaches located around the island. Get active by renting a standup paddleboard and wade through the crystal-clear rocky shores.

Vela Luka (Korčula) - Korčula (Korčula)

Vela Luka (Korčula) - Korčula (Korčula)

Your sail to the east of the island will be at ease as the famous winds rush through Peljeac and Korčula channels. Korcula Town is approximately 40 NM away, making this cruise from Vela Luka the longest sailing.

The island of Korčula is the jewel of the Adriatic archipelago. The island is indented with isles and inlets, and its lush vegetation bestows a special mark on it. The city of Korčula is a historical and tourist center of its island. It is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the Mediterranean. Moreška, danced within Korčula, is one of three chivalric dances you can only witness on this beautiful island.

Its most captivating feature is the historic Old Town, an oval-shaped walled settlement that faces the Peljesac Channel. The walled town has unique towers, palaces, churches, monuments, cafés, restaurants, hotels, galleries, open-air cinema, etc.

The town of Korčula is also considered the birthplace of the world's greatest traveller, Marco Polo. Experience history by visiting the house where the great traveller was born in the old town. Walk around the narrow city streets to catch a glimpse of the city. Swim on the many beaches that surround the island and dive to explore flora and fauna of its rich underwater world. Restaurants and fine dining options are numerous in this picturesque fairy-tale town.

ACI Marina Korčula ( http://www.aci-club.hr/aci.htm ) is situated in a small inlet east of town. Its northern side is protected with a breakwater.

Korčula - Prožura (Mljet)

Korčula - Prožura (Mljet)

Prožura is a small settlement on the central part of the island of Mljet. Its cove is located on the northern coast and is well protected from all the winds by the two islands adjacent to it: Borovac and Planjak. The boat journey from Korčula to Prožura takes 30 NM. There are several places you can berth up to 4m deep. There are two quays with mooring lines and two buoy fields operated by two restaurants. From time to time, a north-easterly tide is expected.

Prožura bay is an absolute beauty. Anchor at the Marijina Konoba restaurant, order their Gratinated Oysters and Grilled Fish. For a warm family-like atmosphere and an incredible view, indulge at Kanoba BARBA.

Prožura - Dubrovnik

Prožura - Dubrovnik

The 7-day yachting in Croatia from Dubrovnik will disembark at Dubrovnik on the last day. The sailing route from Mljet Island to Dubrovnik will take 23 nautical miles. You'll typically arrive back at base before sunset. Hence, take advantage of your last night at the Medieval town to catch up on some leisurely activities.

The city of Dubrovnik was once the center of the Dubrovnik Republic. It was ruled by the Byzantine empire, sold to Venice, led by Austria, and later by Yugoslavia. Dubrovnik has a rich history, culture, and tradition. Until a period, Dubrovnik competed on equal grounds with Venice in the north, which is today one of the most famous tourist and historical centers on the Adriatic and the Mediterranean.

The city was further made famous by the ever-popular TV series The Game of Thrones. It was the movie's prominent filming location. There are 19 GTO filming locations in Dubrovnik. To feel grounded again, explore Dubrovnik by taking the Game of Thrones tour or the city walls tour. The best way to experience Dubrovnik's vast cultural and historical heritage is to traverse its streets on foot and stroll over the famous Stradun and the 25m high, 2km long City walls. The path will take you past numerous palaces, churches, and places of lesser significance, adding to Dubrovnik's vast glory. Walk the ancient streets to shop for Croatian Lace, Croatian wine, cheese, Lavender oil, authentic Croatian olive oil, Konavle earrings, Rakija liqueurs, etc.

Its name is a synonym for Croatia in the world's far corners. The more you learn about Dubrovnik, the less surprised you will be to know that its population increases tenfold during the peak of the tourist season. The only limit to your cruise in Croatia is your imagination, as it truly is a country of a thousand beautiful islands. The 7-day itinerary is one of the many itineraries available for exploring. Sailing in Croatia is the best way to enjoy the view of the Adriatic Coastline in the summer. Make your holiday memorable, visit medieval cities and swim in the crystal-clear sea, dive at some of the best dive sites in the world and spend some time alone on the dreamy Croatian islands. Most importantly, treat your taste buds with authentic seafood culinary at eateries that are only reachable by boat.

You can opt for a laid-back, tranquil cruise with desolate coves and no other passengers to relax and unwind, or you can party nonstop and go from island to island for wild nights.

The Big Picture

  • Trying to get on Below Deck Mediterranean comes with a hefty price tag.
  • Guests on the show pay a discounted rate, but still shell out over $8,000 each to be on the boat.
  • The $65,000 price tag for the show is a steal compared to the usual cost of chartering a yacht, which can reach up to $200,000.

Trying to be on a Bravo show is a goal for many viewers and, if you have money, it might be an easier goal to obtain. One of the top shows on the network is Below Deck Mediterranean and, if you can afford it, you can worm your way into a spot on the series. But only as a guest, and you have to pay a pretty penny to make it happen.

The premise of the show is to see the crew of Below Deck Mediterranean working on a ship together and taking care of guests when aboard the ship. But, according to Bravo's website, the series seemingly has guests paying less than what they normally would. The casting for the show states that those "guests" are paying a discounted rate to take a journey. The site says that the crew are serving guests paying "a highly discounted rate of what the normal charter fee." And when you hear how much they're paying, it will make you wonder how much a real charter fee is.

Now, your average day Bravo fan might not be able to just drop the amount of money it takes to be on Below Deck Mediterranean . According to a casting email obtained by The Things , each person is paying over $8,000 to be on the boat. That puts the total to charter the boat at $65,000. Again, how much is it normally to charter a boat if this is the discounted rate? With a tip of $15,000 total for the crew, that puts the grand total for each person at $8,125. Sorry, guys, we maybe won't be on Below Deck Mediterranean any time soon.

What Does the 'Below Deck Mediterranean' Price Tag Get You?

That $65,000 price tag is, sadly, not even a fraction of what this kind of get away typically costs, running you upwards of $175,000 to $200,000 to charter a boat. If you aren't the most elite of rich people, you might not find yourself on Below Deck Mediterranean any time soon. Reportedly, what this price tag includes for those wanting to be the next guest on Below Deck Mediterranean is the following: economy roundtrip airfare for everyone, two nights in a hotel, three days on a luxury yacht, a private chef, food and alcohol on the yacht, 24 hour service and all 'water toys.'

So with the $15,000 tip already included and knowing what the overall price tag could be to charter a yacht, it isn't the worst deal on the planet. You just have to have that much money just lying around.

Below Deck Mediterranean

In a luxury charter yacht traveling across the Mediterranean, crew members face both the challenges of managing upscale guest expectations and the complexities of their own interrelationships. Each episode highlights the high-octane world of yachting where exceptional service standards meet personal drama and adventure.
