Mystic Seaport Museum is America’s leading maritime museum set on 19-acre grounds along the Mystic River. A 19th century seafaring village recreates the activities of shipbuilding with blacksmiths, coopers, printers, and shipwrights, along with a working preservation shipyard to maintain and restore the museum’s collection of historic vessels. The highlight of Mystic Seaport is the Charles W Morgan—the last wooden whaleship in the world and oldest commercial ship still afloat in the USA! The Charles W Morgan set sail 37 times between 1841 to 1921 when the whaling commerce ended. Visitors can step aboard to imagine life aboard this majestic ship during the “Great Age of Sail.”

The Museum’s historic watercraft collection is the largest in the US and includes four National Historic Landmark vessels. Visitors can also learn about the stars and navigation at the Planetarium. The museum’s galleries feature world-class exhibits of history, art, and more. The Seaport has a variety of onsite restaurants and offers Mystic River tours. Visitors arriving by boat are welcome to stay at the Mystic Seaport Marina with well-protected docks on the Mystic River, a short distance from the Long Island Sound. Historic Downtown Mystic is in the Mystic Bridge historic district with superb shopping, dining, and nightlife on both sides of the bridge (Groton-west/Stonington-east). The waterfront district is set among 18th century colonial-era sea captain’s homes, church steeples and historic landmarks like the Mystic River Bascule Drawbridge itself, built in 1922. Foodies will appreciate the award-winning eateries of all types and sweet shops. Shoppers will enjoy the over 80 independently owned specialty shops and galleries. Summertime is the season for free concerts at the Mystic River Park.

Mystic pizza, anyone? Mystic Pizza, located on the west (Groton) side of Mystic River was opened in 1973 by the Zelepos family. Screenwriter Amy Jones, who was summering in the area, wrote a story centered around the pizza restaurant that was made into a movie released in 1988 starring Julia Roberts, making Mystic Pizza an immediate tourist attraction! Demand for the pizza is so strong, a second Mystic Pizza store was opened in North Stonington (east side). Of course, it is excellent pizza based on a secret family recipe!

Olde Mystick Village is a shopping mall laid out as a 1720 Colonial Village with a town green, duck pond, gazebo, birdhouses, and pedestrian-only walkways to provide shoppers with a unique destination experience as they shop world-class specialty shops and restaurants. Olde Mystick Village on Coogan Blvd. is easily accessible from I-95 and Rt 27. Next to the mall on Coogan Blvd, is the Mystic Aquarium with indoor and outdoor exhibits. The aquarium features 1000’s of animals and is the only aquarium in New England with beluga whales. Visitors can also enjoy live presentations of California sea lions. Mystic’s Denison Homestead Museum (aka Pequotsepos Manor) is a 300-year-old family farm preserved through the generations and located on 160-acres of private property, only 5 minutes from Downtown. The Homestead features the 1717 House Museum, Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, and a farmers’ market. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Museum is open June-October, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with tours available year-round by appointment. The Mystic Museum of Art a 100+ year-old establishment that was founded as an arts and cultural center for southeast Connecticut. The museum hosts events and educational programs for youth and adults in addition to art exhibitions. Established in 1888, BF Clyde’s Cider Mill is the oldest steam powered cider mill in America. The September season opens with sweet cider, hard cider, apple cider donuts, apples, apple pies, pumpkin bread and much more.

Outdoor modern attraction, Aerial Adventure Park at Fields of Fire was custom built for family outdoor adventures on 50 acres of Mystic, Connecticut woodlands. Mystic Downtown Marina is a small family-run marina located in historic downtown Mystic. Once a major seaport, Mystic is now a popular vacation destination. Amenities include walking distance to downtown, laundry facilities, restroom/showers, ice, WiFi, cable TV, picnic area with gas grill and fire pits, patio dock, nearby fuel, pump-out available, and plenty of parking. Fort Rachel Marina, located in Mystic’s historical district, is a full-service marina that dates to the War of 1812. It is an ideal location for cruising Long Island and Block Island Sounds. Fort Rachel Marina received the Boaters Choice Award for 2017 and 2018. The Marina offers 110 storm protected slips for vessels up to 60 ft. Each slip comes with shore power hook-up, cable TV, water, and WiFi. Dock hands are available to assist and the onsite Service Dept offers maintenance and repairs, detailing, rigging, a 35-ton Marine Travelift, and more. Only a brief walk to downtown Mystic and all the village has to offer and a short cab ride to both world-famous casinos (Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods).

Mystic Point Marina is a Lockwood Marina (one of 5 locations on the CT shoreline), on the northeast tip of Mason’s Island in the Mystic River. The full-service marina offers 100 boat slips for vessels up to 46 ft, upgraded shore power, and fresh water. Mystic Point enjoys a top reputation for its boat maintenance and repair services. Family boating focused, the marina is conveniently located on Mystic Harbor to access the best fishing spots and vacation destinations (Mystic CT, Stonington CT, Groton CT, Clinton CT, and Watch Hill RI). The marina is also convenient to popular boating destinations such as Napatree Point, Point Judith, Newport, Montauk, and Long Island.

Mason’s Point Marina is a full-service marina on the Mystic River and Mystic Harbor with Certified Mechanics on staff. It offers 120 floating dock slips and 20 moorings located in a well-protected cove just a short distance from the main channel of Mystic River. The marina accommodates boats from 10 to 50 ft length, with 5.5 ft water at low tide. WiFi is available from all slips.

Safe Harbor Mystic has wet slips to accommodate vessels 10 ft to 80 ft with 25 ft maximum beam, 12 ft draft, and no height restriction. Slips include WiFi, shore power hook-ups, fresh water, and cable TV hook-ups. Fuel dock with ValvTect Marine Gas and Diesel Fuel. Transient slips to 72 ft can be booked via Dockwa.com. Full marine services and self-service yard are available. Gwenmor Marina Inc. is family-owned and operated since 1969.

The north dock was completely upgraded in 2020 and the south dock is slated for upgrading this year. The marina is positioned at the mouth of Mystic River and is a short stroll to downtown restaurants and shops. Gwenmor is a full-service marina with Ships Store. Can accommodate Beam of Slip from 11.5 ft to 16 ft. Amenities include 50amp service, fresh water, cable TV, WiFi, dock carts, dinghy storage, restrooms, ice (outside of Ships Store), BBQ area, yard games, parking. Transients are welcome but limited to 2 days—must reserve.

She is currently on the hard having the bottom sanded and painted for the 2019 Season. We are planning to revisit and for detailed photos and video May 2019. All bright work redone with Bristol Finish Stock #148944 The largest Linwood built, the only one built on the 64' hull and the only one fitted with V-12 engines at the factory! The 1961 Huckins 60' is a true endeavor with the passion for a romantic elegance restored to timeless beauty. Innovators who changed the way things were done, showed the impossible to be possible and whose legacies are integral within the foundations of what is today taken for granted, whether it be the first practical and affordable private jet, a revolutionary hull design that gave a smooth, fast and dry ride like none before, or designing the earliest planning hulls including the legendary PT boat and later among the first pioneers to sheath wooden hulls in fiberglass. For over nine decades and several generations of pleasure boat evolution and refinement Huckins has been there all along, still in the family, still innovating, still preserving, still striking the right balance between that which offers new possibilities and that which assures known qualities. Possibilities such as lighter weight, tighter construction tolerances or greater performance and efficiency, qualities such as reputation, durability and classic good looks. As is always the case among those who remain in business, let alone in the top tier for generations, it requires walking the high wire between the radical and the rational, a balancing act perhaps only made possible by generations of family ownership, a series of steady hands on the tiller sharing a common gene pool. Which brings us to the subject vessel at hand, the 1961 Huckins Linwood sixty footer, if not the finest example of the brand certainly one of them. Purchased first as an object of love by the current owner, she then became a mission and eventually an obsession, and just as it takes a special breed of innovator to give birth to a classic, it is often the case that love and obsession, not to mention sufficient means, are necessary attributes among those who wish to preserve them. Thus the mission became the total restoration of the vessel to her finest, few expenses spared, no lack of sand in the hourglass. The entire exterior hull was stripped of glass to the bare wood, completely refastened and then re-covered with West System Epoxy and 18oz bi-axial cloth. The keel and chine were reinforced with four layers of cloth, and all the topsides and decking with 10oz cloth. The structural necessities having been addressed, the more remarkable aspect of the project was restoring the power configuration to original. You see, among her past interesting owners was a drug running operation that doubtless appreciated her fine seaworthy qualities and speed, so much so that they reconfigured her to straight inboard with a dummy fuel tank sealed with contraband abaft, then loaded her topsides with bales of marijuana and abandoned her off the coast of Florida... whereupon the Coast Guard seized her and impounded her conveniently on land where the clever villains were able to sneak in under the cover of darkness, cut open the fake tank and recover the real contraband... yet another example of innovation by those obviously at the top of their game. So, out went that renegade power package and in came a pair of 12-V71 TI Diesel The mission is to reconstruct, restore and refit her as classic vessel to cruise 20 knots operating around 29 gallons/hour. To achieve this performance over Fifteen thousand hours highly skilled professionals completed the following: Exterior Hull Stripped to bare wood outside Entire hull re-fastened and covered with West System Epoxy (18 oz. bi-axel cloth) Keel and Chine reinforced with additional four layers of 18 oz. bi-axel cloth. Top sides and deck two layers 10 oz cloth and West-System Epoxy Two Detroit 12-V71 TI Diesel engines, 650 hp, 1980. Frame out rebuild 2005 (approx. 800 hours) Two Walter Heavy Duty V-drives Two four-blade 34 x 36 medium cup propellers (2011) All new half shafts, couplings, etc. Northern lights generator in soundbox (2010) Cruisair 24,000 BTU AC/heat (2005) Wiring (Anchor) replaced (2009) Plumbing (Pex) replaced (2009) Water Heater 40 gallon (2009) Engine room fire extinguishing system (2010) Reason for selling is building a residence in florida.

While the 330 Coastal has an open cockpit aft for angling, more emphasis was placed on the accommodations than is usual for an express-style fishing boat. The cabin is relatively large, with a full galley, an enclosed head, a dinette, and a full berth forward. There is a large berth forward in the main cabin, and there is also a convertible dinette. The cabin is clean and dry showing only minimal signs of age. The helm deck is also substantial, with dual bench seating at the helm and passenger's side. Fishing consoles are present both port and starboard, with a live well and a rigging station. The boat is also equipped with a full bridge enclosure with canvas and isinglass and rear drop curtains. Other fishing equipment includes gunwale-mounted rod holders, under-gunwale rod racks, outriggers and twin fish boxes built into the deck. The spacious cockpit has plenty of room for anglers or deck chairs and also has coaming bolsters. The boat is equipped with a wide swim platform and a transom door makes accessing the platform easy. Additional equipment includes Hurley Davits to handle dinghy w/ outboard and Valve installed on sea strainers to ease in winterization and fresh water flushing. This great boat is currently available in Mystic and is ready to hit the Fall fishing season or to take you cruising wherever your heart desires. A good-size cockpit with a layout convenient for crew or short / single-handed sailing. Room to move about and self tailing winches are well placed and instruments allow you to stay behind the wheel on the raised helm seat. All lines are led aft and through marked clutches to allow sail handling from the cockpit. Roller furling headsail and lazy jacks allow raising and lowering sails from the cockpit as well. Good-sized side decks and double lifelines allow easy movement forward when needed. Comfortable and conventional cabin layout, the easy companionway leads to the salon with the galley to starboard, nav station to port, and a dinette forward. The good-sized galley and loads of storage make the boat a good one for liveaboard or extended stays. Refrigerator and icebox allow on or off-grid use (has some solar panels as well). Moving forward there is an enclosed head with a composting toilet, sink and mirror. Opposite is a wet locker and forward is a convention cabin with a V-berth. The boat offers good ventilation with overhead hatches and opening ports. There is also a small cabin under the cockpit with a berth and additional storage. Engine access is good with removable panels for easy inspections and service. This is a good option for someone looking to move up or get into sailing on a reasonable budget.
