The Kingdom of Norway (Norwegian Kongeriket Norge). This country, occupies the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. Its name originates from the Old Norse word Nor?rvegr – “way to north." Norway is a great sailing destination, surrounded by three seas: the Barents Sea to the northeast, the Norwegian – to the West and Northen Sea – to the south-west it has a lot to offer to most experienced sailors. Norway has a long and narrow territory with 30% covered by forests, many rivers and lakes. More than half of the country's territory is occupied by mountains.
Only Norway yacht charter vacation can offer a unique blend of gorgeous scenery, diverse wildlife and spectacular Nothern Lighst watching. Explore drammatic northern nature and spectacular landscapes form the comfort of your yacht or catamaran.
General description: The kingdom of Norway, one of the largest countries in Europe, spreads its borders along the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Arctic Ocean. Norway yacht charter is an ideal way to explore magnificent fjords, which are unique geological formations stretching deep into surrounding mountains, indenting its rugged coastline, present the most spectacular features. Norway is also the home of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Places of interest:
The capital, Oslo, is a vibrant city centered round a harbor and guarded by the 14-th century castle. The center of Oslo is home to the Royal Palace, Viking Ship Museum, a lot of parks and galleries, as well as other public institutions. Rent a boat in Norway and discover the area close to Oslo, that is well built-up, with bustling harbors, guarded by fortresses as early as 1643. But further south the scenery is like post cards depicting dramatic towns and serene villages with quaint clapboard houses and boats galore.
Bareboat charter in Oslofjorden area will bring you to the oldest settlements dated back to Stone and Bronze Ages. Hanko is one of the islands in this area. Its harbor town has the oldest naval museum in the world, established in 1853. Although it sits on a bare rock, facing the fjord, its sheltered eastern side is well forested, providing a much-favored harbor and anchorage. The Norwegian Yachting Association was founded here in 1882. Since then the island has been a venue for national regattas, sailing races and world championship events. Norway yacht charter in July will give you a chance to see most popular Hanko Regatta that collects over 200 boats.
Southern Norway bareboat charter
The southern coast ( Oslo and Bergen ), lined with silver-sand beaches set against a backdrop of high mountain plateau, and white-painted houses in fish-farming villages, is known as the sunny side of Norway and summer paradise for holiday-makers. Renting a boat here you will find numerous harbors with all necessary amenities.
Western Norway yacht charter
The long lacy western coastline borders the North Sea. This part of the country is a true land of fjords, waterfalls, glaciers and secluded beaches. Bergen is the second biggest town in Norway and offers number of yachts for charter. Back in 10170 Bergen was the largest town in the country and the capital of a region that included Iceland, Greenland and parts of Scotland. Even after Oslo became capital of Norway in 1299, Bergen continued to grow as a trading center, especially for the exports of dried fish. Now it is a true center of shipping. Bergen is a World Heritage City and the official residence of the king of Norway.
Northern Norway
Northern Norway ( Tromso and Lofoten ) has been called as "the land of excitement" or "the land of the high flames". These expressions capture the essence of it - the shimmering Northern Lights of winter and the midnight sun that shines day and night in summer. With bareboat charter, you will be able to explore its unspoiled coast that consists of a multitude of islands, fjords, snow-clad peaks and glaciers. The northernmost point in Norway, Nordkapp (the North Cape), is a place of pilgrimage for all-time traveler. Sheer 1,014-ft (309-m) high perpendicular cliffs form this most amazing landmark as Europe's most northerly point.
Rent a boat in Eastern Norway
The route between Tonsberg and Tjome, known as World's End, is only 19 miles (30 km) but plenty of time needed to explore this stunning archipelago. There are impressive coves, narrow sounds, old skipper's houses and boathouses, also a string of inviting holiday resorts. Bridges connecting the larger islands and the sea is never far away for a refreshing swim. Mountains, valleys and lakes dominate this incredible landscape. It has a special appeal for rock climbers and hikers: from the easy alpine pastures in Alvdal to demanding peaks in the national parks.
Festivities. There are four defined seasons in Norway and "every season has its charm". And Norway finds its enjoyment in each of them by creating a number of festivals: snow and ice sculpture tournament, ski- kite event, white-water canoe racing, dog-sledding, boat festivals - fairs and games all the way along the coast.
Although sometimes wind or cold, rain or snow, can bring those pleasures indoors (Jazz, folklore and dance festivals, film premieres and art exhibitions), but nothing can spoil high spirit, because festivals are important part of the nation's cultural life.
While on the yacht charter in Norway do not miss its vibrant cuisine rich in fresh seafood (smoked, pickled or dried fish including whale meat and seal) and wild game (reindeer, elk, pheasant, etc.). Although over the years the local restaurants have become incredibly diverse, including exotic international meals in the menu, Norwegian specialties, such as lamb and cabbage stew or reindeer medallions or marinade of rabbit, cannot be missed. Other traditional favorites include cured smoked sausage and pheasant breast served with mushroom sauce. One should not forget Norwegian most famous cheeses, best served on Ryvita crisps. And for desert try fruits and especially berries (gooseberries or black- and red currants).
Climate in Norway
Much of the country is habitable due to the warming effects of the Gulf Stream. It comfortably creates mild winters and cool summers on the west coast. The south and west of the country have the highest average temperature 72F (22C) in Oslo in July. Norway is a vast country with wide variations in its geographical and climate conditions. Both at sea and in the mountains the wind and weather can change rapidly, thus it is advisable to consult local people with knowledge of the sea before setting forth into unknown waters.
Magnificent scenery combined with the wide range of outdoor activities (whale and seal safaris; cave walking; dog-sledging, mountain climbing, etc.) - that what makes Norway so appealing to adventurous travelers. Norway has enormously long coastline interspersed with fjords and islands, making boating a pure haven. And the most rewarding way to explore the remote and enticing parts of this unique country is definitely by sailing. The western coastline provides the most convenient and safe mooring for the boats. Although anchorage is free-of-charge in Norway, there are certain (and sometimes complicated) specifics about mooring and berths. That's why it is better to let experts deal with it. No matter how well-organized your sailing event looks like, it is always wise and safe to consult and present your vacation dream to professionals and let "12 Knots" do what they are good at.

With an island count comfortably in the tens of thousands, and a distinctly vibrant city life, Norway presents a wealth of opportunities when it comes to compiling a uniquely memorable charter itinerary. Indeed, as a firmly established yachting hub with a centuries-old marine tradition, Norway offers visitors the chance to enjoy the most sublime sights of Scandinavia both when underway and at anchor. A favoured destination amongst expedition yachts, Norway also benefits from a number of quiet bays which offer charterers the opportunity to vacation in total peace.
Providing something of a bustling alternative to the rolling rural landscapes surrounding the fjords, the city of Bergen is defined by the cosmopolitan vibe which pervades its historic streets. Located on the west coast of Norway, the city is populated by a number of boutique stores and restaurants as well as a number of quaint buildings preserved as part of a World Heritage Site. Due to being one of the smallest cities in Europe, visitors are able to easily take in Bergen’s various charms in a relatively short period of time.
Getting out of Bergen and back into the iconic fjords is nicely straightforward, and it is here that the sheer tranquility of Norway can be felt. Norway Yacht Charter
Norway Luxury Yacht Charter
A gateway to adventure, incredible natural beauty, and fascinating culture
With immense fjords, majestic mountains, and towering glaciers, Norway is a destination like no other. Postcard-perfect scenery and rustic villages nestled in sweeping green valleys offer some of the finest landscapes anywhere in the world. And with the world’s second largest coastline, exploring this splendid destination by yacht is the perfect choice to see everything this Nordic sanctuary has to offer.
Cruise during the summer months of May through July and you’ll experience the glowing Midnight Sun, where the sun glimmers across the land 24 hours a day and never fully sets. At midnight, watch your yacht glide through the waters, illuminated by the ethereal twilight. A unique experience you won’t soon forget.
Navigate your way through the calm waters of this kingdom of fjords past steep mountains, cascading waterfalls, and massive glaciers. With secluded anchorages all to yourself, glorious isolation will be your only companion. For those seeking a little more adventure, entertainment can be found on shore with cycling, hiking, zip lining, or from above by taking a helicopter tour. And foodies will delight in the selection of incredibly fresh seafood available at restaurants on shore, or as prepared by your yacht’s chef.
Cruising Norway delivers a much more diverse experience than that of the well-traveled seas of the Mediterranean and the Caribbean , so be prepared for something different: a spellbinding adventure in the heart of nature.
STAVANGER TO LYSEFJORD
Arrive in Stavanger to meet your yacht, but before embarking on your voyage, stroll the town’s boutiques and shops and enjoy a celebratory cocktail as you catch your first glimpse of Norway’s spectacular scenery. Stopover at one of the more popular tourist spots in the fjords, the island of Hidle, known for its exotic gardens full of blossoming plants and palm trees. Enjoy a delicious meal ashore or dine on the deck of your yacht.
PULPIT ROCK & HAUGESUND
Adventure-seekers can head ashore and hike up to Norway’s famous Pulpit Rock. This three and a half hour trek is somewhat challenging, but rewards the experienced hiker with incredible outlooks and panoramic views from atop the steep cliff. Return to your yacht and make your way to Haugesund, a young, vibrant city that hosts several festivals every year. History enthusiasts can tour the Viking Farm, and anglers can choose from several excellent spots to drop a line.
AKRAFJORDEN TO ROSENDAL
As you cruise to Akrafjorden, relax and absorb the sweeping scenery as you prepare for your next adventure. For an exhilarating on-land experience, a visit to Trolljuv Adrenalin Park offers thrill-seekers the chance to zip line across the Trolljuv Gorge and bungee jump from the bridge. When you return to the calm respite of your yacht, don’t miss the view of Langfoss waterfall, which cascades a total of 2,008 feet in all. An exquisite anchorage awaits you at Rosendal, where you can enjoy a compelling range of leisure activities.
ROSENDAL TO LOFTHUS
Continue your voyage with a scenic passage that begins at Norheimsund, where you’ll find the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall. Then cruise to the Kalrassen waterfall, where your yacht can get close enough that you’ll be able to touch the cascading water from the deck. End up at the port of Lofthus, where you can head ashore for elegant dining at the Hotel Ullensvang.
LOFTHUS TO EIDFJORD
Take advantage of the helipad at the Hotel Ullensvang and charter a helicopter for a truly elevated, bird’s eye view of the Folgefonna Glacier and the Trolltunga viewpoint. For yet another adrenaline-packed experience, head to the Trolltunga Zippen, a 2,000 ft. zip line that descends its riders 650 ft. to the lake below. Return to the comfort of your yacht and unwind with a cocktail on deck before cruising onward to Eidfjord. It’s here you’ll find one of the most visited tourist attractions in Norway, the famous Voringsfossen waterfall, where the pristine water has a free fall drop of about 475 feet.
EIDFJORD TO TYSNESOY
With all the heart-racing activities Eidfjord has to offer, it’s a thrill-seeker’s paradise. Downhill cycling through the Hardangervidda National Park is sure to get your blood pumping. Or for a truly unique experience, White Water Jump is an exhilarating combination of abseiling, zip lining, and aerial acrobatics high above a rushing river. After all that activity, your reposeful home on the water awaits, ready to transport you to a splendid anchorage off Tysnesoy Island.
TYSNESOY TO BERGEN
Tysnesoyis the perfect spot to splash around with your yacht’s water toys, try your hand at fishing, or visit a local salmon farm to enjoy a catch-of-the-day that doesn’t get much fresher. When you’re ready for boutique shopping and entertaining nightlife, cruise to the city of Bergen, an ideal ending to this incredible journey.

Fjords of Norway
When on a yacht charter in Norway, visiting the fjords are an absolute must. Spread across Western Norway, these narrow fjords were created by a succession of ice ages, centuries ago, and they haven’t changed much since.
Today, Norway’s famed Fjords are strewn between tall mountains, cascading waterfalls, and glaciers, and are home to vast wildlife, like seals, eagles, whales, fish and more. Wander into its bordering villages, and you’ll find a local, nature-inspired lifestyle, with each community built around the strengths of its residents.
With individual fjords even named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fjords are some of the most astounding landscapes in the world. Their natural beauty comes from their steep, narrow crystalline rock walls; most of which rise as high as 4,593 feet and go as deep as 1,640 feet below the Norwegian Sea.
Going on a luxury yacht charter in Norway ? If you do, make sure you sail through the fjords. While there are currently 1,190 fjords to see, checkout some of our favorites — like the ones listed below.
As the southernmost of country’s largest fjords, Lysefjord stretches 24 miles in length, and ranges from 42 to 1,400 feet deep. It is surrounded by towering mountains, and is home to famed landmarks like the Pulpit Rock, in Forsand, and Mount Kjerag, on the southern side of Lysefjord, in Rogaland.
Hjørundfjord
Stretching 22 miles in length, Hjørundfjord is a fjord arm of a larger fjord, Storfjorden. It is surrounded by dense forests and the dramatic mountains of the Sunnmørsalpene mountain range, with some peaks as tall as 5,600 feet. Adding to its allure, Hjørundfjord is dotted with several small villages, like Bjørke, Leira, Viddal and Urke.
Hardangerfjord
Regarded as the reigning “queen” of Norway’s fjords, Hardangerfjord is characterized by spellbinding scenery you just can’t find anywhere else; like mountains, waterfalls, glaciers, orchards, blossoming fruit trees and more. The Nærøyfjord is an arm of the Sognefjord and has been dubbed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stretching 111 miles in length, Hardangerfjord is the second longest fjord in Norway.
As Norway’s longest fjord, and the second longest in the world, Sognefjord runs inland for 127 miles and reaches depths of 1,300+ meters. Often referred to as “The King of Fjords,” Sognefjord also includes part of Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in all of continental Europe. This part of the world is regarded as one of the most beautiful travel destinations, namely due to its unique landscapes: like glaciers on mountaintops, green farmlands and deep, cascading fjords.
Geirangerfjord
Dubbed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Geirangerfjord is one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations. It is lined with cascading water falls and a number of abandoned farms, like Skageflå, Knivsflå and Blomberg, to name a few. The two most notable waterfalls in this part of the world are de Syv Søstre, which translates to “the seven sisters,” and Friaren, which translates to “the suitor.” The two waterfalls sit on opposite sides of the fjord, facing each other; leading to the belief that “the suitor” is trying to seduce “the seven sisters.”
Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nærøyfjord is Sognefjord’s most narrow, but best known arm. Only 12 miles in length, Nærøyfjord is filled with majestic mountains, deep valleys, towering peaks, snowfields, waterfalls and small hamlets.

Yacht Charter From Telemark
Telemark canal and coast.
Vestfold and Telemark County is a large region in southern Norway known for it’s vast forests, beautiful landscapes, historic buildings, small coastal villages and the Telemark Canal. The area has good rail and bus connections from Oslo and Kristiansand, or you can catch a plane from Bergen to the nearby Torp Sandefjord Airport.
Telemark, known as “a miniature Norway” is a county of contrast from historic churches, countless glistening lakes, waterfalls, narrow rivers and valleys to a mountainous district including Mount Gausta that overlooks approximately one sixth of Norway’s mainland, perfect for hikers.
Scattered with islands, beaches, picturesque villages and fantastic scenery, the coast of Telemark offers cruisers an ideal place to explore and unwind. The sheltered coves are perfect for anchoring and taking a swim or enjoying a relaxing evening onboard. The coastline stretches from the fjord in Langangen to the Kragerø archipelago, offering coastal towns surrounded by clusters of islands both large and small. The islands are rich in culture and heritage and offer local cuisine, bars, shops and markets that you can enjoy as you cruise around the coast.
TELEMARK CANAL
Originally two canals, Norsjø-Skien canal and Bandak-Norsjø canal, the Telemark Canal was completed in 1892 to provide a transport route for goods, timber, livestock and people. Stretching 105km from the Grenlands coast to the valley in Telemark, this spectacular canal is now a tourist attraction offering historic locks with stonewalled chambers, original features in cast iron, narrow rivers and large lakes.
The Canal has 8 locks, Skien, Løveid, Ulefoss, Eidsfoss, Vrangfoss, Lunde, Kjeldal and Hogga and a total of 18 chambers that you can pass through with a total lift height of 72 metres. Along the canal there are guest harbours, local piers, museums, historic churches, farm shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.
Charging stations have been planned and strategically placed along the entire Telemark Canal to ensure that you can always top up your batteries.
Telemark offers several activity parks that are for all age groups.
Bø Sommarland is the largest water park in Scandinavia and the family will enjoy some of the biggest and thrilling water slides in Europe. With 20 different slides and swimming pools there is plenty of choice for everyone.
The Høyt & Lavt (High and Low) Climbing Park is located at the gate to Bø Sommarland. Climb through the treetops and overcome 119 obstacles in 6 courses and a total of 18 Ziplines. The park caters for all ages and skill levels.
Norsjø Cable Park is one of the world’s best cable track parks for wakeboarding, water skiing and knee boards. The park is suitable for beginners and professionals so that everyone can have a fun day. There is a boatyard at the park where you can leave the boat on the guest jetty for the day whilst you go to the park or you can take a berth for the evening and dine in restaurant Svilla, which has a large playground for children to enjoy.

Seventh Mulder ThirtySix Q43 delivered and en route to Norway
The seventh unit in Mulder 's ThirtySix yacht series, named Q43 , has been delivered and is now en route to Bergen, Norway, according to BOATPro . The 36-metre superyacht was spotted leaving the shed in May and was technically launched at Zoeterwoude, the Netherlands in April 2023.
After Norway, Q43 will set sail for the United States, where she will make her debut at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
Weighing a total of 60 tons of aluminium, construction on the model began on speculation in April 2022. She was then sold to an American owner, who was introduced to the shipyard by Chris Collins of Ocean Independence .
Like all the models in the series, the yacht is built to a design by Claydon Reeves . Defining features include a continuous strip of glazing running across the hull and ending in a distinctive plumb bow, with clean lines, low bulwarks and a high pilothouse.
Previous models in the series have had a 15-square-metre beach club and a long 75-square-metre sundeck, but the ThirtySix offers good scope for customisation. The yacht will have an eight-metre beam and nearly 300GT of volume. A patented Van Oossanen fast displacement hull form (FDHF) will give the yacht a maximum speed of 16.8 knots while offering increased fuel efficiency.
Q43 's sisterships include Delta One , Calypso I and the recently delivered Solemates .
The latest model is one of the first to be built at Mulder's fourth facility in Enkhuizen, which was acquired in February last year.
Mulder has also begun construction on an eighth hull, which will be delivered in October 2024. The yacht's interiors were unveiled at the Palm Beach International Boat Show 2024 and are owed to "visionary" interior architect Roelfien Vos.
