What is a Superyacht?

A superyacht epitomizes luxury, sophistication, and indulgence on the high seas. These floating palaces are typically privately owned by ultra-high-net-worth individuals and offer unparalleled comfort and luxury. Superyachts are characterized by length, often exceeding 80 feet, and are equipped with top-tier amenities, advanced technology, and personalized services.

Distinguishing Yachts, Superyachts, and Megayachts:

  • Yacht: The term “yacht” is a broad classification encompassing various types of pleasure boats. Generally, any privately owned vessel used for leisure or cruising can be called a yacht. Yachts vary widely in size, style, and amenities, making them accessible to many enthusiasts.
  • Superyacht: As the name suggests, superyachts go above and beyond the typical yacht experience. These vessels are characterized by their immense size, extravagant features, and the ability to cater to the most discerning tastes. Superyachts often boast multiple decks, helipads, swimming pools, and lavish interiors.
  • Megayacht: The term “megayacht” is often used interchangeably with “superyacht,” but it generally refers to vessels exceeding 100 feet in length. Megayachts take luxury to the next level, offering even more space for amenities and customization. These floating wonders are a testament to the ultimate expression of maritime extravagance.

Top 10 largest explorer yachts in the world

Helipads. Dive centres. Ice-breaking hulls. Submersibles. What makes an explorer yacht? True to their name, explorer yachts are well equipped to take on adventurous journeys to the most far-flung places in the world. Equipped with a long-range and vast storage capacity for food, fuel and water to enable weeks at sea, expedition yachts are increasingly popular with owners wanting to leave behind the popular Mediterranean and Caribbean cruising grounds for more challenging adventures. We round up the top 10 largest explorer yachts in the world, starting with a new entry from German shipyard Lürssen...

Solaris | 139.7m

One of the most memorable launches of 2021, the 139.7 metre super explorer yacht Solaris travelled to the top of this coveted list of expedition yachts when she hit the water last year. The highly secretive project is built by Lloyd Werft , which also delivered the 115m explorer Luna in 2010, the fourth largest explorer yacht in the world. Spread across an impressive eight decks, Solaris was designed by Australian designer Marc Newson and hit the water for the first time at the German yard in February 2021. While nothing has been made public about the project, images of the superyacht show a large helipad, sun deck and spacious beach club aft.

  • Builder: Lloyd Werft
  • Country of build: Germany
  • Delivery year: 2021
  • Length Overall: 139.7 m
  • Gross Tonnage 11247 t

More about this yacht

More stories, octopus | 126.18m.

Originally built yacht for the late Paul Allen, one of the founders of Microsoft, Octopus  is one of the most famous explorer yachts in the world. The yacht has the capacity for two helicopters at the same time, with landing pads on the aft deck and foredeck. The helipad on the aft deck also has a hangar to store the helicopter away in big seas.

Octopus also has an internal dock, which is perfect for storing the toys that every explorer yacht should have. When the dock is filled with water a 20 metre submarine and a tender of similar size are able to float in and out of their chocks. Once they are secure the water is pumped out before the yacht gets underway.

Paul Allen and the crew of Octopus used the yacht as part of an eight year search for a sunken ship. In 2015, they discovered the long-lost wreck of Japanese ship Musashi , which sunk during the Second World War.

  • Builder: Lurssen
  • Delivery year: 2003
  • Length Overall: 126.2 m
  • Beam: 21.01 m

Sporting exterior design by Frank Neubelt, Luna is famous for a low aft deck that sacrificed interior volume in favour of more space for sunbathing. The swimming pool takes centre stage and made headlines for being the largest ever seen on a superyacht at the time of delivery. Elsewhere, the yacht features two tender garages, a gym and an expansive beach club wrapping around a spa, with a steam bath, plunge pool and sauna. Two helipads sit on the upper deck while the entire lower deck is dedicated to the crew. Luna is ice-classed and built to the highest possible standards, allowing her to travel to the far reaches of the world's oceans.

The 2023 superyacht summer recap: Jeff Bezos is now king of the high seas

  • For billionaires and their celebrity friends, warm weather means it's yacht season.
  • Jeff Bezos recently debuted his $500 million megayacht Koru, which criss-crossed the Mediterranean.
  • Here's a recap of some superyachts that made headlines this summer — and the famous faces spotted on them.

Insider Today

Jeff Bezos made headlines in 2019 for a rare appearance partying at sea on David Geffen's yacht, the Rising Sun , with ex-Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein and model Karlie Kloss.

Four years later, Bezos is no longer Amazon's CEO, and he's spent the last few months earning a new title: king of the high seas. As 2023's yacht season comes to a close, it's clear that Bezos' brand new $500 million superyacht won the summer.

Many of the world's rich and famous have shied away from being spotted vacationing on yachts . Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav made that mistake early in the season, sparking backlash after hosting a lavish soiree overlooking a bevy of yachts on the French Riviera, just weeks after the Hollywood writer's strike kicked off.

But Bezos and his superyacht guests appear undaunted by coverage of their travels.

Bezos named his megaboat Koru, after a Maori symbol of growth (perhaps a reference to being the world's largest sailing yacht at 417 feet long) and new beginnings.

Koru took its maiden voyage to Gibraltar in April, and a flurry of photographed stops followed: In May, a shirtless Bezos and his now-fiancee Lauren Sanchez — who has a striking resemblance to the sculpture on Koru's bow — took the yacht for a spin off the coast of Spain, before sailing it to the Cannes Film Festival.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lauren Sanchez (@laurenwsanchez)

In June, Koru made its way to the Italian Riviera , where the couple posed for photos on the ship's deck. Then it stopped by the Italian island Capri, before posting up at nearby Positano, a cliffside town that's become a favorite of celebrities and travel influencers.

There, the yacht played host to an engagement party for Bezos and Sanchez , which reportedly drew guests including Bill Gates, Whitney Wolfe Herd, Ari Emanuel, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Just a week later, the couple was seen strolling the streets of Dubrovnik, Croatia, with Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, and Usher.

Yacht season's runner-up: billionaire Barry Diller's Eos

Another highlight of this year's yacht season was the 305 foot-long Eos, owned by billionaire Barry Diller and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, which also had a busy summer criss-crossing the Mediterranean.

Related stories

A staple of superyacht season, Eos' 2023 summer schedule included an early stop in Mallorca , where Diller and von Furstenberg hiked with Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King; a trip to Greece where von Furstenberg visited with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and Valentino cofounder Valentino Giancarlo Giammetti; and a stop on the Amalfi Coast where von Furstenberg snagged a picture with Kris Jenner.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Diane von Furstenberg (@therealdvf)

In August, the ship made its way to Croatia, where its owners dined with Hollywood A-listers Candice Bergen, Emma Thompson, and Jason Blum, as well as Diane Sawyer and Creative Artists Agency partner Bryan Lourd.

The Eos docked in Venice to end its summer season, where von Furstenberg hosted the annual DVF Awards — and began furnishing one of her dry-land residences.

Not too far away in Venice's harbor was Maìn, Giorgio Armani's yacht, on which he hosted guests like Sydney Sweeney and Kerry Washington as part of his One Night Only fashion event earlier this month.

Many of the world's other famous superyachts — and the folks who frequent them — appear to have largely avoided the public eye this summer.

"In a world of long-lens constant paparazzi, there is a place for relaxed privacy that many of us take for granted," a longtime superyacht employee, who requested anonymity to speak candidly, recently told Insider.

That's likely the privacy that Geffen is enjoying on the Rising Sun, the yacht where Bezos was photographed a few summers ago — and on which Geffen infamously self-isolated in March 2020.

While the ship has been keeping a low profile this yacht season, it's reportedly been spotted in Capri and Mallorca , though without its typical celebrity entourage on board. Most recently it made a splash in a place not typically known for attracting the world's most expensive crafts: Portland, Maine.

The Need for Speed: Exploring the World’s Fastest Superyachts

In the realm of luxury yachts, where luxury knows no bounds, there exists a class of vessels that stands apart – vessels that blend luxurious living with exhilarating speed. Welcome to our exploration of “The Need for Speed: Exploring the World’s Fastest Superyachts.” In this exhilarating journey across the high seas, we unveil the marvels of modern engineering and design, showcasing a selected group of superyachts that defy convention with their remarkable velocity. From cutting-edge propulsion systems to breathtaking top speeds, join us as we delve into the world of high-performance yachting, where luxury knows how to pick up the pace.

Cutting-Edge Propulsion Technologies in World’s Fastest Superyachts

Conventional diesel engines.

Many superyachts, even the fastest ones, are powered by conventional diesel engines. These engines typically run on marine-grade diesel fuel. They use a system of pistons and crankshafts to convert the energy from diesel combustion into mechanical power, which turns the yacht’s propellers. These engines are reliable and fuel-efficient, providing the necessary power for cruising.

Gas Turbine Engines

Some high-performance yachts, especially military and custom-built vessels, use gas turbine engines. These engines are known for their exceptional power-to-weight ratio. They have the ability to provide a high amount of thrust, which results in impressive speeds. Gas turbine engines are often used in combination with other propulsion systems or in hybrid setups for improved efficiency.

Hybrid Propulsion Systems in Fastest Superyachts

In recent years, there has been a trend towards hybrid propulsion systems. They combine traditional diesel engines with electric motors and batteries. These systems offer greater flexibility, allowing yachts to operate in all-electric mode for silent and emission-free cruising at lower speeds, and then switch to diesel power for high-speed operation. Hybrid systems are more environmentally friendly and can improve fuel efficiency.

Waterjet propulsion is a technology commonly used in high-speed yachts. Waterjets draw water into the yacht and expel it at high velocity through a nozzle at the stern. This system provides excellent maneuverability, shallow draft capabilities, and reduced vibration, making it suitable for fast and agile yachts.

Pod propulsion systems, such as those manufactured by companies like Volvo Penta and Caterpillar, involve the use of pods (outdrive units) that are mounted below the yacht’s hull. These pods can rotate, providing thrust in various directions, resulting in increased maneuverability and efficiency. They are often used in combination with diesel engines for both power and control.

Advanced Hull Designs

Beyond propulsion systems, the hull design of a yacht plays a crucial role in achieving high speeds. Yachts with planing hulls are designed to lift out of the water at higher speeds, reducing hydrodynamic drag and allowing for increased velocity.

Crafting the Perfect Propulsion Strategy for Fastest Superyachts

The selection of a propulsion system for a superyacht is a multifaceted decision that hinges on several critical factors, including the vessel’s size, intended purpose, and the preferences of its owner. Each propulsion method comes with its unique set of advantages and trade-offs, making it crucial to tailor the choice to suit the yacht’s specific requirements. Moreover, it’s not uncommon to witness a synergy of multiple propulsion systems within a single yacht, a testament to the industry’s dedication to optimizing both performance and efficiency. The pursuit of the perfect balance between speed, range, maneuverability, and environmental impact underscores the meticulous craftsmanship and innovation inherent in the design and engineering of these high-speed marvels.

Understanding the Differences Between Yachts, Superyachts and Megayachts

Yachting is a luxurious pastime that has captivated the affluent for centuries. However, within this realm of opulence, there are significant distinctions between various types of yachts, particularly when comparing yachts, superyachts, and megayachts. These differences are not merely in size but encompass design, amenities, technological advancements, and even the lifestyle they offer.

Read on as we dive into these nuances and provide a comprehensive understanding of yacht differences to help sailing enthusiasts and prospective buyers make informed decisions.

What is a yacht?

yacht differences

A yacht is a sailing or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. Generally, yachts range from 30 feet (9 metres) to about 79 feet (24 metres) in length. They are typically characterised by their elegant design, comfortable interiors, and the ability to provide a luxurious experience on the water. Yachts can be categorised into several types, such as sailing yachts, motor yachts, sports yachts, and expedition yachts, each serving different purposes and offering unique experiences.

Key features of yachts

  • Size and Design: Yachts usually fall within the 30 to 79 feet range. They are designed for personal use and can accommodate a small number of guests comfortably.
  • Amenities: Standard yachts come with essential amenities like bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen (galley), and living areas. Some may also have additional features such as sun decks, swimming platforms, and basic entertainment systems.
  • Usage: Yachts are ideal for personal leisure activities, short trips, coastal cruising, and participating in yachting events and regattas .

The Beneteau Oceanis 46.1 is a prime example of a sailing yacht, offering a blend of performance and comfort for family cruising. Another notable mention is the Sunseeker Predator 50, a motor yacht that provides speed and luxury with its sleek design and high-performance engines.

What is a superyacht?

Superyacht Captain Shares ‘Unbelievable’ High Sea Stories

"There is a pride in being witness to some truly unbelievable events – and not sharing their details."

Superyacht Captain Shares ‘Unbelievable’ High Sea Stories

Superyacht captain Brendan O’Shannassy shares with DMARGE the wildest experiences of his career. From celebrities to wildlife, it’s been an incredible job.

Superyachts are synonymous with excess. They’re known for models, hot tubs, champagne, expensive Monaco moorings , treadmills, zodiacs, helicopters – the list goes on.

But – unless you are part of the 1% – you probably can’t think of too many specific superyacht stories . This is either because the lifestyle isn’t as wild as you think, or because it’s so wild it gets covered up.

Well, fear not: we’re here today to bring you the inside scoop. Here are the wildest superyacht stories we were able to sleuth up. To kick things off, we spoke to Brendan O’Shannassy, a superyacht captain who recently wrote the book Superyacht Captain: Life & Leadership In The World’s Most Incredible Industry .

Brendan told DMARGE exclusively: “It is not the ‘crazy’ antics people might seek. The wildest things relate more to incredible experiences – diving with hundreds of Hammerheads in the Galapagos, swimming with Whale Sharks in The Maldives, and of course… taking Clint Eastwood + Mick Jagger from a function in one of the tenders.”

The Worst Kinds Of Superyacht Guests, According To Crew

The Worst Kinds Of Superyacht Guests, According To Crew

Brendan added: “I think some of the greatest privileges has been having relaxed and normal conversations with some of the most famous/powerful people in the world. To see that tech founder [such and such] is really just a devoted family person who loves the water and has a really silly side. To listen to a singer, after being pressured by their friends, bang out a tune – no backing/no production – and it be just incredible.”

“To see a world leader listen intently as a 22yr old deck crew member explains their safety obligations to use a Jet Ski.” Superyacht Captain Brendan O’Shannassy

Brendan refused to be drawn on the wild stories he had heard of occurring on other superyachts (“we tend to keep our own counsel – we don’t share the stories between yachts”) but did reveal that “there is a pride in being witness to some truly unbelievable events – and not sharing their details.”

“I know this is not want people want to read, but ‘keeping the veil in place’ is something we are all very proud of.”   Superyacht Captain Brendan O’Shannassy

Brendan also told DMARGE that superyacht owners do not see the boundaries that we ’normal-folk’ do. They think differently.

“They probe and challenge all information for its authenticity…regardless of who is saying it,” he told us. “They may not be a subject matter expert, but their questions are disarming as they go from the ground-up…in our normal days we might accept something as fact without fully understanding from a builder, mechanic, even a doctor – the billionaires do not. They will keep going until all facts are clear.”

If that didn’t quench your thirst for gossip, here are another few wild superyacht stories from around the web.

Some billionaires are (accidentally) destroying priceless art with champagne and cereal. That’s right: according to Vox , though it’s not known exactly how, some rich people store priceless art on superyachts as a form of legal tax avoidance. This comes with some problems, however.

As reported by The Cut , a $110.5 million Basquiat (which was on a yacht) once had to be restored after a billionaire’s child destroyed it with cornflakes.

“His kids had thrown their cornflakes at it over breakfast on his yacht because they thought it was scary,” Pandora Mather-Lees , an Oxford-educated art historian and conservator told  The Guardian .

“In another incident, a popped Champagne cork struck the canvas of an (unnamed) multi-million-dollar painting,” The Cut reports.

Don’t you hate it when that happens!

superyachts in high seas

Moving on – there are more wild tales to be told. Enter: Marie Claire’s 2020 article: Inside The Sordid World Of Superyachts .

In this article, the author talks about the “golden handcuffs” of working on a superyacht, describing how many crew members are reluctant to speak until they leave the industry, for fear of becoming known as “difficult” to recruitment companies.

The ones who do talk, the author claims, “describe glamorous destinations and large, tax-free pay packets, mixed with long hours, social isolation, sexual harassment and depression.”

One story from that article is as follows:

“Recently, a ‘Mrs’ (shorthand for a boat owner’s wife) woke up on a superyacht in the Caribbean, far from habitation. She wanted 1000 white roses to adorn the craft. The crew arranged for the flowers to be helicoptered from Miami, then brought to the yacht in time for dinner” ( Marie Claire ).

“The following morning, the Mrs wanted them gone. Unable to throw them into the sea and too far away to drop them at a port, the crew had to jam them into their tiny quarters.”

Chief Stewardess of a Superyacht, Gemma Hulbert, told CNN a similar story of excessive pampering.

Once, she told C NN , a guest only wanted to bathe in half a tub of hot water that was topped off with half a bottle of Fiji water and half a cup of baby oil.

“That was so much fun to clean from the marble after.” Hulbert

She also told CNN : “I’ve…had a charter guest in the past who purchased a vintage Hermes bag in the States so our purser (the officer on board who keeps the accounts) had to organize a private jet to go to the States from Monaco to pick up the bag and bring it back so she could take it to a gala the next day.”

Crew sometimes see some wild things too. Bloomberg wrote in 2021: “staff see and hear things of a… risqué nature, such as one yachtie whose repeat client insisted on spending her entire seven-day foray in the nude, often passing out drunk in unbecoming positions.”

“Semiclad sunbathing (most often by ‘paid friend’ types), spouse swaps and drunken fisticuffs are also common.” Bloomberg

One yacht captain told Bloomberg : “We’ve seen guys do splits with one foot on the boat and the other on the tender as they drifted apart.”

“One time… we watched someone get slapped in the face by a flying fish.”

Bloomberg also reports that the days when yachts were drifting cocaine dens are over (in the Caribbean at least), writing that boats can be impounded and captains arrested if illegal substances are found on board.

superyachts in high seas

That said, there are still some wild parties (and revenge shopping sprees for irritated partners). According to the outlet, “Often a yacht will be rented for two weeks: the first for the family, the second for bachelor partyesque antics.”

Superyacht staff also speak of cooking elaborate meals for pets, and babies, before blending them to a pulp so that they could be eaten.

South Florida is also, according to Bloomberg , an even wilder version of the Mediterranean.

Bloomberg reports on “time-crunched celebs willing to drop $15,000 on one epic joyride” in which, according to one source, “you head out in the morning, drop anchor at the sandbar off Key Biscayne, play with the toys before you’re too drunk, then dock at the trendiest club.”

“At one club, I was invited on board an owner’s docked boat, only to find a veritable buffet of weed. While looking for the bathroom, I stumbled into another secret lair: a dedicated cocaine room, complete with an ornate mirrored table.” Bloomberg

Finally, how could we forget the hilarious time that news broke of a superyacht crew all dressing in designer clothes , as the owner of their superyacht refused to wear clothes more than once, and so would always throw away his lavish outfits…

There you have it: some of the wildest tales from the high seas.

MALTESE FALCON 00006096

Summer is on the horizon, so why not sail through the season aboard a superyacht from this selection of the largest, most distinctive, and sometimes offbeat vessels available for charter? Diverse amenities on unique vessels ranging from 144 feet to 377 feet include a sprawling owner’s deck, an extensive water-toy trove, and even a glassed-in garden. Whether it’s a newly built benchmark such as the 377-foot Ahpo , a reimagined classic like Coral Ocean , or a peerless design as seen with Maltese Falcon , each will be the pride of any port of call, from Sardinia to Saint-Tropez.

Lürssen’s ‘Phoenix 2’ (297 feet)

superyachts in high seas

Move over Jay Gatsby, Lürssen’s Phoenix 2 brings all the Art Deco that any fan of the 1920s aesthetic could want for a stylish cruise. With one helipad, one cinema, and two Jacuzzis, the Winch-designed yacht also doubles down on every other charter amenity. The sumptuous interior features a gilt-and-black-lacquer Steinway in the main-deck ballroom, a grand table with a crystal chandelier in the dining room, a gold bas-relief jazz mural, and a wine cellar. Guests can choose between immersion in the 23-foot pool or relaxation at the gold-mosaic hammam. From Moran Yacht & Ship , starting at $1 million per week.

Silveryachts’ ‘Wanderlust’ (279 feet, 8 inches)

WANDERLUST 10000787

Conceived as a “sports-activity vessel,” Wanderlust from Silveryachts is one of the newest entries on the 2023 charter market. Identified by its triangular windows—including a band of privacy glazing that encircles the dedicated owner’s deck—the yacht also features a winter garden with sliding glass that creates an open-air, shaded terrace. Wanderlust also has a glass-fronted Jacuzzi on the sundeck, a 4,300-square-foot watersports hangar on the lower deck that doubles as tender storage, and an outdoor cinema area that converts into a nightclub. From Burgess , starting at $953,000 per week.

Oceanco’s ‘Wheels’ (247 feet, 8 inches)

Wheels, Frasers, 2019

With seven decks, Oceanco’s Wheels arrives fresh from a 2022 refit with all the gadgets, toys, and tenders that guests could ever want. By day, a massage treatment on the large sundeck is a signature offering from the onboard masseuse; by night, passengers can enjoy the outdoor cinema (there’s another one, with a surround-sound system, inside) or main-deck salon that transforms into a party area with disco lights and smoke machines. And half of the lower deck is given over to a giant water-toy box that includes a brand-new Hobie sailing catamaran. From Fraser , starting at about $854,000 per week.

Perini Navi’s ‘Maltese Falcon’ (288 feet, 6 inches)

MALTESE FALCON 00006096

Perini Navi’s Maltese Falcon is one of the most innovative sailing yachts ever built, with its three-masted, freestanding DynaRig and sails that automatically set in six minutes. A sweeping double refit in the past two years has improved its standing in the charter market, with features, such as the telescoping footbridge, that demonstrate the yacht’s emphasis on improved usability. Plus, it now has an indoor theater to complement the outdoor cinema that uses the lower sail as a movie screen. From Burgess , starting at $420,000 per week.

Perini Navi’s ‘Falco Moscata’ (162 feet, 5 inches)

superyachts in high seas

This was the first Picchiotti Vitruvius motoryacht built by pedigreed Italian shipyard Perini Navi when it was delivered in 2010. The Philippe Briand design features a lightweight aluminum hull and superstructure, which enhance fuel efficiency by up to 30 percent. The yacht has recently enjoyed an extensive refit. A range of 5,500 nautical miles and extendable stabilizers make it ideal for traveling long distances in comfort. And the many aquatic toys are enhanced by crew who double as watersports instructors. From Fraser , starting at about $216,000 per week.

Y.CO’s ‘Kenshō’ (246 feet, 7 inches)

superyachts in high seas

Kenshō is easy to spot with its striking blue hull and superstructure, but it’s the Admiral yacht’s unconventional interior that commands attention. The layout eschews tradition for asymmetry, with lofty ceilings, extra-wide walkways, and sea views from everywhere. It boasts a 20-foot glass-fronted pool set at sea level, a gym, a sundeck Jacuzzi, and a main salon/observation room with floor-to-ceiling windows. Then there’s the main suite, which is made up of four interconnecting rooms—a lounge/ media room, a bedroom, a walk-in dressing room, and a bathroom with a tub carved entirely from a single block of marble. From Y.CO , starting at about $920,000 per week.

Lürssen’s ‘Ahpo’ (377 feet, 6 inches)

Photo superyacht Oceanco © Guillaume Plisson

Lürssen’s Ahpo was the darling of the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show, where it made its world debut, and this year it’s open for charter. The stunning design accommodates up to 16 guests in eight immense staterooms, including a two-story owner’s apartment. There are also four cabins for personal staff, along with quarters for the yacht’s 33-person crew. Ahpo’s enormous beach club has a mosaic-tiled hammam, a plunge pool, a sauna, a massage room, and a beauty salon. From Moran Yacht & Ship , starting at $2.75 million per week.

Burgess’s ‘Lammouche’ (144 feet, 3 inches)

LAMMOUCHE 00004443

For those who feel the allure of a motoryacht charter but shy away from fossil-fuel travel, Lammouche offers the perfect solution. The 144-foot vessel from Sanlorenzo is the only yacht on the global charter market to be powered by biofuel. The renewable, hydro-treated vegetable oil that powers the craft reduces carbon emissions by up to 90 percent. Cruising the Dalmatian coast this summer, the yacht is equipped with a 37-foot chase boat for exploration, while Lammouche’s sundeck Jacuzzi and a lower-deck beach club are ideal for relaxing. From Burgess , starting at about $197,000 per week.

Lürssen’s ‘Coral Ocean’ (239 feet, 6 inches)

superyachts in high seas

Launched from the Lürssen yard in 1994 and featuring a Jon Bannenberg design, Coral Ocean has long enjoyed a special place in the hearts of superyacht aficionados. It was one of the largest superyachts of its day, with an adventurous interior purposefully designed as an alternative to the ubiquitous bling common to the 1980s. Following a recent $35 million refit, the yacht underwent a transformation that saw the primary suite double in size and the development of a new streamlined, open upper deck with a glass-bottomed spa pool. From Ahoy Club , starting at about $707,600 per week.

Oceanco’s ‘Cloud 9’ (290 feet, 3 inches)

superyachts in high seas

This year marks the first time that Oceanco’s superyacht Cloud 9 has been available for charter since its 2015 delivery. Ticking all the amenity boxes, the Dutch-built superyacht offers a pool, two Jacuzzis, and a wellness center with a beauty salon. An entire deck is given over to the owner’s needs, with an office, a lounge area, a bedroom with double en suites, and a walk-in dressing room. In addition, the private owner’s space has balconies on both sides and can convert into a cinema. A glass elevator provides easy navigation between decks. From Burgess , starting at about $1.08 million per week.
