Some of the highlights of cruising Pittwater is the picturesque Barenjoey that extends from Palm Beach and the Broken Bay waterways that extend from Barenjoey to Woy Woy and the Central Coast of Sydney. For both the experienced sailor and novice Pittwater offers many options.

Perfect for sailing, kayaking, fishing and boating, Pittwater is a beautiful waterway between Australia’s second-oldest national park and the charming Northern Beaches peninsula. On the western headland are ancient Aboriginal ochre hand paintings in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

Where do your boats depart from?

Our boats are berthed at Marina Mirage. Please see the ‘contact us ‘ page on our website  for further details and a map. Marina Mirage is about 10 mins from Surfers and 15 mins from Broadbeach.

Where can I park?

There is plentiful free parking at Marina Mirage/Mariners Cove which you are permitted to use.  Please check signage at time of parking and if parking overnight consider street parking to avoid towing.

What about other transport options?

There are lots of ways to get to the boat! The most popular (and cost effective/convenient) is often via Maxi Taxis.

I am short on time can you please help me out with catering/drinks?

Yes, we also offer catering and drinks service for your convenience. Please request our full catering list as advance bookings are required. We offer a range of catering options from grazing boards, to canapes and private chefs.

(Catering and drinks service options may be affected by Government restrictions due to Covid, please check at the time of your charter what the current restrictions are)

Do you have Eskies on board?

Yes we have Fridges & Eskies and we also provide ice. 

Where can we go on our charter?

We mainly operate in the calm, protected waters of the Gold Coast Broadwater. Where to go very much depends on what you would like to do and how long your boat charter is for so please feel free to discuss this with our team. In a 3 hour charter during the day our guests usually love a swim stop at Wavebreak Island where you can enjoy the range of island activities on board. Your skipper is knowledgeable in the local area and will make recommendations based on the conditions on the day.  If you don’t wish to swim in a 3 hour charter you instead opt to sail further north along the inside of South Stradbroke Island and see the millionaires mansions at Sovereign Islands.

In the evening we will generally sail north to watch the sunset and return to the southern part of the Broadwater to enjoy the city lights after dark which are just beautiful.

Will I get seasick?

We mainly operate in the calm, protected waters of the Gold Coast Broadwater. If we go offshore (into the open ocean) there is a possibility of large waves. 

Are your charters suitable for guests with limited mobility?

We have welcomed several guests on board with limited mobility. However we do realise that each individual is different in terms of ability and what they are comfortable with. Please take a look at the 360 tours on the ‘ Our Boats ‘ page for an ideal of getting around the boats and do bear in mind a big step up (or carry) is required to board the boats at the marina. Our friendly team will be happy to discuss further to ensure you and your guests are comfortable prior to making a booking.

Then it is simply a matter of paying your deposit to secure your preferred date. But don’t dawdle as we quickly book out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Departing at 12pm, our captain takes your crew out Island Hopping for a day of Watersports, BBQ buffet, Cold drinks and fun in the sun. Think Banana boats, cold beers, SUP’s and multiple bars.

This package is perfect for an Aussie Summer day, with up to 100 passengers and a minimum run time of 4 hours this is definitely one the crew will remember.

Package 2 – Evening Cocktails & Canapés

Departing at 5pm, this Sunset Cruise sets the mood for a night of world class luxury and celebration aboard the Gold Coasts premier Superyacht. Touring the northern Islands of the Coast’s broadwater and cruising back to the Sun Setting over Surfers Paradise, this is the ideal venue to create special memories.

The Entrance has been a major tourist attraction since 1885 and to this day, tens of thousands of people still come to enjoy this serene coastal resort.The Boat Shed was built in 1927 to cater for the thousands of people wanting to take advantage of the beautiful Tuggerah Lake and to fish, prawn or just have fun in the sun.

You can extend your booking, pending availability.

Can I hire for ½ an hour?

We hire all vessels in 1 hour blocks.

Do I need a boat licence?

A boat licence is not necessary for our boats. You do however need a valid drivers licence for identification.

How many people can fit on a boat?

We have boats that can carry maximum of 6 or 8 people.

Can I go under the bridge?

No hire boats are permitted to go under the bridge.

Do we have to pay a deposit?

Yes, a cash deposit is required.

We cater for all skill levels (depending upon conditions) from the eager novice that doesn’t know their port from starboard, to the avid sailor in need of an hour or day on the water.

Hobie “Wave” Catamarans are a fantastic and easy way to realise the thrill that every sailor knows. Hobie "Wave" Catamarans are known for being one of the easiest catamarans to tack, even without a jib.  Easy to understand free 5 minutes of instruction is included in your hire, so you’ll be sailing along the magnificent Pumicestone Passage wondering why you hadn’t done this earlier. For those that need a little more guidance, arrange for a 30-60 minute lesson with one of our instructors to help you get that extra confidence to be independent on the water.

Our Hobie “Wave” Catarmarans are easier sail than you think and are a convenient and fun way for the intermediate sailor to hone their skills on the magnificent protected waterway.

Note: Catamaran Hire is available mostly on weekends and school holidays, unless arranged by special appointment.  Nonetheless, it is always best to call first to make a booking and receive advice regarding the best time for sailing due to tides and winds.

Where are you located?

Where do i park, what about bad weather, can we bring our own alcohol, are guests required to wear life jackets, is there a restroom on the boat, what is the unlimited drink wristband, how do i pay for drinks on board if i don't have a wristband, can i host a private party on the boat.

It is best to reserve as early as possible, as last minute bookings are hard to get. We suggest a few days ahead of time. Walk-ups are welcome if you want to leave your adventure to chance of available space on one of our day trips.

Killcare Beach is 1.6km of golden sand (plus a shallow rock pool), patrolled by ‘Killy’ Surf Life Saving Club from September through to the end of April. A great spot for swimming, snorkelling or fishing, with public amenities, water refill station and a food kiosk . The beach shares its northern shore with the paradisiacal Putty Beach (with a dog-friendly section), also a starting point for one of the most beautiful hikes in NSW – Bouddi Coastal Walk.

Tallow Beach and Little Beach are two of the most isolated but breathtaking beaches on the Central Coast. Located deep within Bouddi National Park, they are unpatrolled and accessible only by walking tracks, with the opportunity to camp on a small site run by NSW National Parks.

To properly escape into nature, visit the sheltered Lobster Beach , framed by bushland with stunning vistas across Broken Bay. Just a short stroll from the carpark, you can set up a picnic, watch for wildlife (especially dolphins), snorkel or easily go boating.

The Bouddi Coastal Walk is one of the most popular and rewarding bushwalks in New South Wales. Starting at Putty Beach, the 8km hike to Macmasters Beach tours national park, pristine beaches, a shipwreck and scenic lookouts. For a shorter adventure follow the 2.4km trail to Gerrin Point lookout for sweeping ocean views and whale watching.

Box Head Track is an easy bushwalk through red gums emerging at a headland with sweeping views across the Hawkesbury River, Broken Bay, Lion Island and to Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Or take the Flannel Flower walking track that runs between Tallow Beach and Lobster Beach.

Do you need a license to rent a catamaran in the Caribbean?

If you want to rent a catamaran in the Caribbean , you must follow the laws of the country you are visiting. 

If you want to rent a catamaran in St Barts, you will need a license if the boat's engine exceeds 4.5 kilowatts or 6 horsepower. To charter a catamaran in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico or Grenada, you do not need a licence, but you need to prove your sailing experience. To prove your sailing experience, we suggest that you have a nautical curriculum demonstrating your previous experience.

If you don't have a license or experience, you can rent any other boat from our catalogue with a skipper. Skippers are helpful, they can show you places that only locals know.

Purpose built for the original owner s of Central Coast Ferries, SARATOGA is a modern aluminum catamaran. The SARATOGA was built in QLD in 2003 by custom boat builders New Wave Catamarans. Although the SARATOGA is a “high speed” ferry, it is operated as a “slow” ferry on the regular passenger run from Woy Woy – Empire Bay, via Davistown & Saratoga ( hence the name!).

SARATOGA is powered by 2 Cummins 6BT Diesel engines, 220 HP each, which are efficient and clean diesel fuel engines due to their rigid maintenance program by the crew. The vessel is in survey to carry 78 passengers plus 2 crew comfortably. There is a partially covered rear deck plus fully covered boat deck. SARATOGA is a sturdy and stable vessel, which allows easy access for passengers with disabilities (dependent upon wharves).

SARATOGA has modern electronics with radar & chart plotters on board should the skippers need them, plus a depth sounder & 27MG radio. There is also a CD player/radio on board.

The hull of the CODOCK II was built during or immediately after World War II, as a standard 40’ workboat destined for the defence forces. These vessels were almost exclusively powered by the model 671 Grey Marine Diesel engines (the Detroit Diesels of today). Originally CODOCK II would have been fitted with very limited accommodation for two in a short trunk cabin forward, with a shelter for the crew t the steering station, with an open well aft of that for carrying cargo and or personnel.

This particular vessel was acquired by Cockatoo Dockyard in 1947 and converted to the layout seen to-day as a passenger vessel to ferry employees to and from Cockatoo Island and to and from ships around the harbour.

CODOCK II shared these duties with a number of similar vessels, some of whom are still working on the harbour, however CODOCK II was given special attention such as her interior finish in teak to also serve as the VIP launch assigned to other duties such as transporting special guests of the company and carrying management when attending special functions etc.

Much of the construction, modification and repair work on these vessels were done by the apprentices on Cockatoo Dockyards. It is not unusual when removing fittings etc for repair or replacement, to find a name or a date written underneath. The interior varnished teak trim was the waste or off cuts salvaged from the refitting of merchant and passenger vessels that had seen war service and were restored at Cockatoo (and other shipyards) for handing back to their owners for normal civilian service.

Despite her years, CODOCK II is a very sound vessel, her under planking is protected by copper sheathing, but most importantly whilst she has had a busy sixty or so years of continuos hard service, CODOCK II has undergone annual slipping and survey as a passenger carrying vessel.

CODOCK II was in daily service up until Cockatoo Dockyard was shut down. She was purchased at that time at auction by Doyle’s of Watson’s Bay, and after some modifications it was intended to use her to transport patrons from Circular Quay to Watson’s Bay and return; however she did not see extensive service and was purchased by a Rossmans Ferries for a period and then by Moonlight Charters in 1995. She was used to transport picnickers to various Harbour Islands and similar short trips.

CODOCK II was purchased by her present owners Central Coast Ferries in 2006 for use on a new expanded ferry run linking Woy Woy , Hardys Bay & Ettalong areas. She is undergoing a restoration by Conway Marine over the next few years, which will include having her beech deck re laid. These family owned enterprises are passionate about the waterways and its history.

The “SORRENTO” is a hard chine, twin engine single deck aluminium catamaran passenger ferry. The vessel was designed by Paul Birgan and built by New Wave Catamarans in Brisbane and  launched in December 2003.

From 2003 – 2009, the vessel was used as a passenger ferry from Runaway Bay to Stradbroke Island. In 2009 the vessel was then purchased by Belmont Christian College to service the “school run” on Lake Macquarie . The students were picked up at various wharves around Lake Macquarie & then taken to school at Belmont & returned home in the afternoon.

As the student numbers declined, the school decided to sell the vessel in 2015. The vessel was purchased by CCF to assist in larger group transfers & also to be used for the very popular HISTORY CRUISES, CAST OFF Festival, OYSTER Festival & the very popular NYE Celebrations  at Gosford Waterfront.

After a public  campaign, the vessel was renamed SORRENTO. SORRENTO was the name of a guest house in the now named Empire Bay. The owner of the guest house wanted to open up the local post office & the suburb to be called SORRENTO. However this name was rejected by the Post Master as there is a suburb in Melbourne called SORRENTO. Hence the suburb was named EMPIRE BAY. The name also fits in with SORRENTO’s smaller sister ship SARATOGA.

Both the cats were designed, built & launched in the same year, so its fitting that they ply the waterways here on the Central Coast together.

The Sunshine Coast stretches the coastline from Caloundra to Rainbow beach it is in this area that you find some great Boat and Yacht charter holiday opportunities. The types of yacht charter available in the Sunshine Coast include motor, sailing, bareboat charter, skippered, crewed yachts, catamaran, power boat, sailboat, and even the occasional luxury yacht charter.

Tin Can Inlet is a peaceful area known for its eco-tourism atmosphere. Tin Can Bay is a sea-side town home to close to 2,000 people and is well known for its recreational fishing and boating pleasures. It may just be the perfect getaway for you relax and unwind.

Rainbow Beach is a major entry point to Cooloola National Park where the fishing, boating, surfing, prawning and crabbing are all magnificent. The park is untamed and beautiful; you can even sometimes see brumbies galloping along the vast sandy stretches of Cooloola Beach.

A short drive north from Rainbow is Inskip Point where there’s a ferry to take you and your car and boat across to Fraser Island.

Double Island Point is located just south of Rainbow Beach. The point is home to all kinds of marine life. Dolphins and whales are a common sight here when it’s breeding season and Wolf Rock, a formation of four volcanic pinnacles not far from DI is rated as one of Australia’s top 10 dive spots.

As a popular dive site, there are plenty of swim throughs, vertical gutters and overhanging ledges to explore. Plunging to a depth of 40 metres, it is superb for multilevel scuba diving. Fish life is abundant and you’re likely to see lots of trevally, cod, coral trout, perch, mackerel, batfish, leopard sharks, wobbegong and the famed resident Grey Nurse sharks. It is home to several giant Queensland groper, and manta ray are also regular visitors.

There is also great surf at Double Island Point, the break can have up to 300 to 500 metres on good day. Access is by Four Wheel Drive along the beach heading south from Rainbow Beach or heading north from Noosa North Shore. There is also an overland track (4WD only) from Rainbow Beach which brings you out on the beach quite close to the point.

Noosa is the popular region of Sunshine Coast and offers great boat and yacht charter options. Discover the magnificent surroundings where from lookouts on the nearby beaches you can always see surfers out on the water. Many of the activities that Noosa offers involve the water. Noosa’s Main Beach is a protected beach with gentle surf and a great spot for beginners to learn. But nearby Sunshine Beach offers more advanced surfers some great breaks. Then there’s the Noosa River that is popular for canoeing and kayaking and a few tour operators offer scuba diving lessons/trips too.

Noosaville is located on the Noosa River and is the departure point for cruises along the Noosa River System to Lake Cootharaba and the Everglades. Coolum has excellent surf beaches and is located halfway between Noosa and Maroochydore. The surrounding bays and rocky outcrops of Coolum beach are a favourite for fishermen. A little inland resides Mount Coolum, where if you like you can set aside a couple of hours for a hike to the top. Astounding views of the sunshine coast region can be found from the top of the mountain. While Alexandra Headland has maintained its small town charm, it is only minutes from major Sunshine Coast shopping centres located in Mooloolaba and Maroochydore.
