  1. Cooper Sailboats - Cruisers & Sailing Forums

They all seem to have good reps in terms of quality of build. Mine is known as a 508 pilothouse and there are interesting rumors about the design being stolen from a Finnish builder along with a reputed lawsuit and very few made.

  2. Cooper pilothouses (353 & 316) | SailNet Community

Build quality is average, far as I can tell, very little anecdotal stories of problems, but they are on the rare side. Non-pilothouse versions were produced under the "Banner" name, and for a short time US yachts had the molds and produced their own versions as the US 35 and US 42.

  3. Thoughts - 1983 Banner 37 built by Cooper - Cruisers ...

Can any of you share your experience and knowledge of this boat with respect to build quality and sailing characteristics? The boat is apparently powered by a Volvo MD17C 3cyl 35HP deisel with 2,700 hours on it as well.

  4. Quality of Cooper Prowler 42 with DD 8.2 engines ...

The quality of the boat, hull, furniture, etc. is outstanding. The hull is massively thick (which I confirmed a few months ago when installing a through-hull) and solid. The boat handles far better than any in this size range I've ever operated.

  5. COOPER 353 - sailboatdata

Designed to determine if a boat has blue water capability. The CSF compares beam with displacement since excess beam contributes to capsize and heavy displacement reduces capsize vulnerability. The boat is better suited for ocean passages (vs coastal cruising) if the result of the calculation is 2.0 or less. The lower the better.

  7. Cooper34 - Cooper Yacht

The COOPER 34 is the largest model in the range and a true ‘multiday cruiser’. The Cooper team has started a new journey with the new model, one that is the logical next step for any water sports enthusiast looking to take longer trips with all the comforts on board.

  8. How are Sabres higher quality? | Sailboat Owners Forums

I always read that Sabres are "higher quality/better built" that e.g. a Catalina 30 (your standard family cruising boat..). But in what way? They certainly cost more, but I'm somewhat trying to convince myself they're worth it.

The best sailboat brands have, for decades if not centuries, mastered the art of woodworking. They've dedicated their skills and immense amount of their time to designing and manufacturing nothing but the best quality of sailboats in the industry.
