Motor yacht MEA CULPA has a traditional and homely interior decorated mainly in beiges and blues, with plush sofas and soft carpeting throughout. MEA CULPA has an attractive and intimate main salon, with a nice bar and a formal dining area with a roundtable further forward. There is also an attractive sky lounge on the upper deck with cream chairs and sofas, a bar and TV, and also an office area.

She has plenty of deck space on three levels, offering a variety of environments for outdoor living. There is comfortable seating and a dining area aft on the main deck with BBQ and sun pads. There is further seating aft of the upper deck, besides the sky lounge, with stairs leading up to the sun deck with Spa Pool.

The biggest sportfish superyachts in the world

The next few years are shaping up well for the super-sportfish market with the Global Order Book reporting 26 projects currently on order or in build. Some special mentions include the Viking 90 flagship, a 24 metre sportfish chase boat underway at Vanquish and Royal Huisman 's mega 52 metre sportfish hull Project 406 which was announced in 2021. As we patiently await this new wave of uber-luxe fishing vessels, we take a look at the biggest already afloat...

1. Bad Company

The 43.9 metre sportfish yacht Bad Company (née Marlena ) was delivered in 1998 and was the largest sportfish in the world at the time. She changed ownership in 2013 and sent to Spain where she received a comprehensive refit and lengthened by six metres to her current length of 43.9 metres. ABS classed and MCA compliant, this all-aluminium superyacht accommodates up to 11 guests in a master suite, VIP, two doubles and one twin with a Pullman berth, all with LCD television screens and full en suite bathroom facilities.

2. Mea Culpa

Despite her size, Mea Culpa can reach a top speed of 23.5 knots thanks to a pair of 2735hp MTU 12V4000M90 diesel engines. The McMullen & Wing superyacht, designed by Jack Sarin , measures in at a hefty 42.28 metres. Mea Culpa can accommodate up to eight guests and six crew in her interiors, which have been designed by Marnell Corrao . She boasts a deck jacuzzi on board for post-fishing relaxation.  Mea Culpa was delivered in 2003.

3. Forty Love

Forty Love , formerly Don Elegante , began life in 1988 when she was commissioned by her first owner. According to BOAT Pro, the yacht ended up being reconstructed on an existing hull built by Westport in 1990 and was finally finished in 2002. Today, the 42 metre sportfish motor yacht sails under the name Forty Love and was the recipient of a two million-euro refit in 2020. Highlights include a main dining area with 360-degree views as well as a swimming platform with steps down into the water.

Lanakai , built by Yachting Developments , is the newest addition to the list of mega sportfish yachts. Delivered in 2017, the 39.5 metre superyacht is constructed entirely from carbon fibre to a design by Michael Peters  and can reach a top speed of 30 knots thanks to the power of two 3100.0hp MTU diesel engines. Spread over four decks, Lanaki can accommodate 10 guests and six crew. Her interiors, designed by Naylor Booth , sport an alliance of finely crafted American walnut joinery and muted fabrics. Lanakai boasts two saloons within her spacious interiors as well as a bar and stainless-steel aft deck barbecue for preparing the catch of the day.

5. Red Sapphire

Dutch shipyard Heesen , known today for its sporty steel and aluminium hulls, launched a series of sportfishing superyachts including Red Sapphire which splashed in 1999. The 39 metre is easy to spot with its distinct triangular form and a red stripe that runs the length of the yacht. Built for speed, she was capable of reaching speeds of 35 knots back in the day, powered by twin MTU 16V4000M90 engines.

6. Obsessions

The 38 metre Obsessions is the second Heesen built to make it into this round-up of supersized sportfish yachts. Launched in 1996, she arrived three years earlier than her sportfishing sister Red Sapphire . She was designed by Dutch studio Mulder Design and can sleep up to 10 guests.

The 37.19 metre sportfish Mary P was delivered in 2008 by Trinity Yachts . Built to satisfy the ultimate fisherman, this custom yacht incorporates a Simrad forward-looking sonar in the bow and a transom specifically designed to back down on fish at 10 knots. Twin 2,550hp Caterpillar diesel engines give her a top speed of 25 knots. Mary P was designed by Doug Sharp  together with Geoff Van Aller and is the only sportfish yacht to be built to ABS class. Her interiors have been designed by Judy Bell Davis and she can sleep up to eight guests and three crew below deck. On board amenities include a skylounge, bar and a formal dining area forward.

Boss was delivered by Dutch shipyard Feadship 1988 under the name Gallant Lady - the fifth in a series of yachts owned by the late Jim Moran. When she was launched she measured 35.35 metres in length but has since been extended to 36.27 metres. The yacht was refitted at Palmer Johnson in 1999 and can sleep up to 10 guests across four staterooms.

Cruising British Columbia on M/Y Mea Culpa

Adventurous yacht owner jimmy barrier discusses his favourite destination to visit on m/y mea culpa….

The province of British Columbia offers a 27,000-square-kilometre cruising area – an expansive, but relatively untapped area for superyachts to explore. While the region may not be a traditional superyacht destination, Jimmy Barrier, owner of 40m M/Y Mea Culpa , believes it is one of the best places to cruise in the world, choosing to visit the BC coastline every year for the past 13 years.

“If I could only have one area to cruise, it would be British Columbia,” enthuses Barrier. “People don’t realise it but the Pacific Northwest has probably some of the best cruising in the world. There’s the scenery and remoteness of the islands, but you are close enough to civilisation to have easy access to fuel and supplies. And then there are the big cities of Vancouver and Victoria, so it’s a real mixture.”

As well as sport fishing – Barrier enjoys fishing the plentiful tuna off the coast of Vancouver Island, as well as salmon, halibut and lingcod – the key feature of cruising in the region is the nature and wildlife visitors encounter. “It’s nature at its best,” says Barrier. “You could be anchored right next to a mountain and see all sorts of wildlife. I can remember being anchored up in a bay in BC having cocktails and dinner and, not more than 50 yards from where we were anchored, a black bear comes up one side of the mountain, a brown bear comes up the other side and then a big moose walked along! That kind of thing just doesn’t happen in the Med or the Caribbean.”

While the weather might be a little cooler than most popular yachting destinations, as well as changeable, the islands and deep water of British Columbia offer plenty of protected anchorages for superyachts that are both pristine and remote. These anchorages are also largely uncrowded – often times boats will find themselves alone in an anchorage.

Barrier does caution, however, about the particular challenges of cruising along the British Columbia coastline. “It can be treacherous because there are some uncharted rocks and there are so many logs floating in the water because of all the logging that goes on in the area, so it’s best to travel in the day time,” he adds. “There are also currents and big tides that can swing from 10-20 feet, so it really brings out the expertise of the captain.”

When quizzed about the ‘must-dos’ in the region, Barrier’s answer is simple: “Everything is a must-do, no matter where you go. The fjords and the glaciers are really special and Victoria is definitely a must-see – the Victoria International Marina is a really state-of-the-art marina and caters for large yachts. But there are so many different places you can go, and we have always chosen to cruise and discover it on our own. It really is a trip of a lifetime.”

I am no exception.

I have a confession to make: I voted for Donald Trump in 2020, and I cannot truthfully excuse myself by claiming that I was not warned against doing so.

NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Associated Press, among other “highly credible,” “nonpartisan” “news” sources, individually and/or collectively, warned me that if I voted for Trump, among other inhumanities, a dictator would occupy the Oval Office, the rule of law would be at least compromised and likely destroyed, the economy would tank, crime and racial violence would increase, and World War III would be imminent.

But, I voted for Trump anyway, and, sure enough, since then, the occupant of the Oval Office has dictatorially defied a Supreme Court decision declaring his unilateral redistribution of student loan debt unconstitutional. Furthermore, he has suspended the rule of law in Stalin-esque show trials intended to disqualify his 2024 opponent; a brutal inflationary economy is ruining middle-class households; crime and racial violence have surged; racially divisive rhetoric dominates his messaging; our allies mistrust us, our enemies are laughing at us; and, by authorizing Ukraine’s use of American-built weapons inside Russia and turning a blind eye to Iran’s nuclear weapons development, he has placed America on the brink of World War III.

Imagine my embarrassment! I screwed up! Since his 2020 reelection, President Trump, the guy I foolishly voted for, has been a complete, utter disaster!

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!

I should have seen it coming, though. After all, Trump started doing all of those things in 2017, right?

Wait! What?! Trump didn’t do any of that? He wasn’t reelected, and he peacefully vacated the Oval Office in January 2021.

Well, what was Trump’s record until then? After all, the ubiquitous “they” say Trump was just a mean old meany who stayed up nights posting mean tweets. He must have at least put the negative events of the subsequent three-plus years into irreversible motion before he left, right?

Huh? Really? America enjoyed the world’s respect when Trump left office. Our military was strong? The world was at peace? Russia, China, North Korea and Iran were behaving? The Trump administration negotiated the Abraham Accords and quieted the Middle East. Tax rates had been lowered? Annual inflation averaged only 1.9 percent. Gasoline and other energy prices were affordable? The economy and the dollar were strong.

The evil SOB!

But, at least, the mean tweets stopped.

What’s that?! Trump can tweet again, he’s on TikTok, and he founded Truth Social, his own social media website the market value of which may have increased his personal fortune by $3 billion. OMG! What’s this country coming to?!

Confused, I did some research. I wondered if Donald Trump didn’t do all those lousy things post-2020, then who the heck was responsible? So I Googled, “Who won the 2020 presidential election?”

The first hit was a website called “TIME for Kids” that informed me: “Former Vice President Joe Biden has won the 2020 presidential election.”

Now, I’m really embarrassed! Any child who accessed “TIME for Kids” would have known that Joe Biden was elected in 2020, and, here, all this time, I (just kidding) and virtually every actual Biden voter (not kidding) have been blaming Donald Trump for everything Biden and Democrats have done to weaken and/or destroy political civility, the economy, the constitutional rule of law, social and cultural norms, national security, and public health and safety!

Darn it! I could have done what Biden’s far “smarter,” more “virtuous” 81 million (LOL) voters did. I could have cast my ballot for a racially/class-divided nation, massive deficit spending, merciless inflation, a shambolic foreign policy, global conflicts, an illegal invasion across America’s open borders, fascistic, anti-Semitic thugs taking over woke campuses, soaring crime rates, increased homelessness, trans-activists undermining women’s rights and invading their facilities, and federal services spying on American citizens, coordinating lawfare against administration opponents, and destroying “equal justice under the law.”

What’s that? He’s what? …Trump is doing…WHAT?! He’s running for president again?

The bastard!

And just when things were going so well, too…

“Bling Bishop” Lamor Whitehead — the famously flashy Brooklyn pastor who once bragged that Mayor Eric Adams mentored him — was sentenced to nine years in prison Monday after a jury found him guilty of stealing a parishioner’s mother’s retirement fund and other crimes.

The convicted fraudster — known for wearing designer suits, gaudy jewelry and driving a Rolls Royce –sported muted tan jail garb in Manhattan federal court while giving a rambling speech in which he claimed to have “remorse” for his victims.

But Whitehead didn’t take responsibility for swindling them — and the judge didn’t buy his mea culpa.

“I don’t see any remorse for your conduct,” Judge Lorna Schofield told Whitehead before delivering his fate.

“You don’t seem to have an appreciation for the impact of your crimes, or, in some ways, the facts.”

Whitehead, 45, was convicted in March of scamming Pauline Anderson, a 58-year-old nurse and the mother of one of his flock at Canarsie’s Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries, out of $90,000 she’d given him to invest in a house he’d claimed he would buy for her and fix up.

Instead, the flamboyant pastor — who became known as the “bling bishop” — blew the cash on personal expenses, including purchases at Louis Vuitton and on BMW car payments, prosecutors said.

Addressing the court Monday, Anderson teared up while describing the brutal toll left on her by Whitehead’s theft, which she said drained the entire sum she’d saved up for retirement.

Whitehead “broke my heart, my spirt and my soul,” she said.

Anderson’s son Rasheed, 30, added that the convicted scammer’s theft had a “devastating impact” on his family.

“I was used and taken advantage of, and because of that, every day I have to see my mother suffer,” he said in court.

Whitehead was also convicted of attempted extortion for touting his alleged ties to the mayor to get an auto body shop owner to lend him $500,000 in return for “official favors” from Hizzoner.

And he was found guilty of lying to a bank to get a $250,000 loan and of fibbing to FBI agents when they raided his New Jersey mansion.

Whitehead knew at the time that he could not actually obtain the favors that he promised, prosecutors said. Adams has not been accused of wrongdoing in the case.

“Whitehead did not just steal from fellow alleged criminals; he did not just steal from faceless financial institutions; he did not just steal from trusting parishioners. He stole from all of them,” prosecutors from Manhattan US Attorney Damian Williams’ office wrote in a pre-sentence court filing.

“To the extent Whitehead received public attention and had followers, it was because of his flashy, expensive, luxury lifestyle — his mansion, his Rolls-Royce, his expensive suits. All of those things, too, were funded by his crimes,” the feds said.

With his feet chained together and court marshals looking on, Whitehead spoke for around 20 minutes Monday at a podium set up in the courtroom, maintaining his innocence and calling himself a “pillar of the community.”

“As far as remorse, I’m very remorseful,” he claimed. “I hate to see anyone hurt.”

The fallen bishop name-dropped city and state officials he claimed to have worked with in recent years on youth mentorship and Thanksgiving turkey giveaway programs, including Adams, NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez and state Attorney General Letitia James.

“I’ve done untold turkey giveaways,” he said.

None of those officials were present in court — though Adams did express support for him when asked about the sentence at an unrelated press conference.

“Bishop Whitehead is in my prayers, and I wish the best for him,” the mayor told reporters.

Whitehead’s attorney, Dawn Florio, asked to judge to show “mercy” and free him from custody, to have him on supervised release instead.

“Your honor, I am an honorable man and my children need me,” Whitehead pleaded during his speech.

“Allow me to be the poster child of another chance,” he added.

Schofield said that the pastor would be subject to three years of post-release supervision after he gets out of the federal lockup.

Whitehead has a history of “crimes of dishonesty” and has a “high risk of recidivism,” she warned.

Before starting his church in 2013, Whitehead had already served five years in prison after being convicted of a separate $2 million identity theft scheme that involved buying luxury cars after taking out lines of credit in other people’s names, officials said.

The fraudster pastor made national news in July 2022 when he and his wife  were robbed at gunpoint  while he was in the middle of delivering a livestreamed sermon. Whitehead is now likely suffering from “post-traumatic stress disorder” from the episode, his lawyer Florio said.

The judge jailed Whitehead in May after ruling that his attempted extortion conviction was a “crime of violence” that required for him to be locked up.

Whitehead also  flashed confidential case documents  in an April 30 livestreamed service and used a Bible psalm to try to intimidate Pauline Anderson, prosecutors alleged.

“Touch not my anointed,” Whitehead allegedly said at the time, quoting Psalms 105, the feds said.

Roumanie-Ukraine: le mea-culpa de Lunin, dévasté après sa boulette

"Je me suis excusé auprès de mon équipe", a expliqué le gardien de but ukrainien Andriy Lunin , auteur d'une erreur de relance qui a entraîné l'ouverture du score de la Roumanie (3-0) lundi à l'Euro 2024, à Munich.

A la 29e minute, sur une relance mal négociée par la défense ukrainienne, Andriy Lunin a renvoyé la balle dans les pieds de l'ailier roumain Dennis Man, qui a pu servir immédiatement son capitaine Nicolae Stanciu. D'une superbe frappe enroulée, il a trouvé la lucarne opposée du gardien ukrainien pour inscrire le premier but de la rencontre.

Une erreur "qui a changé le cours du match"

"Ma première erreur a changé le cours du match. Je me suis déjà excusé auprès de mon équipe", a reconnu Lunin, auteur d'une saison remarquable avec le Real Madrid, remplaçant parfaitement Thibaut Courtois, blessé sur la quasi totalité de la saison.

"Je pourrais à coups sûrs vous en parler de ces erreurs commises, mais nous devons en discuter entre nous", a estimé le sélectionneur de l'Ukraine Serhiy Rebrov en conférence de presse, sans parler spécifiquement de la faute de Lunin.

Les Roumains ont inscrit deux autres buts en seconde période, Lunin n'étant pas exempt de tout reproche sur la frappe de Razvan Marin qui lui est passée sous l'avant-bras droit. "Il y a plusieurs composantes. Nous avions la possession de balle, mais nous n'avons pas réussi à nous créer des occasions. Personne ne s'attendait à un tel résultat. Tous se sont excusés auprès de nos supporters, ils ont remarqué que c'était insuffisant", a ajouté Rebrov.

L'Ukraine affronte la Slovaquie vendredi à Düsseldorf, avec l'obligation de l'emporter si elle veut conserver une chance d'aller plus loin dans le tournoi.

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for Tyler Perry ‘s “ Divorce in the Black ,” starring Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict. The thriller will be available to stream globally on Prime Video starting July 11.

Per Amazon’s official logline, the film follows “Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.”

Perry was recently the subject of Gelila Bekele and Armani Ortiz’s documentary “Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story,” which also premiered exclusively on Prime Video in November 2023. 'Inside Out 2' saved the summer box office — and proved Pixar was right to lean on sequels

• Pixar's "Inside Out 2" opened to the biggest three-day weekend of 2024, grossing $155 million domestically.
• It's the second-biggest domestic opening ever for an animated movie, behind "Incredibles 2."
• A large screen count and playing it safe in the film's themes and content helped it succeed.

Disney proved it still has some box-office firepower this weekend with Pixar's "Inside Out 2." The film had the biggest three-day opening weekend of the year, grossing $155 million domestically and $295 million worldwide .

That's also the second-biggest domestic opening ever for an animated movie, behind another Pixar title, 2018's "Incredibles 2" ( $182.6 million ). For reference, the "Inside Out 2" gross is so good that it's only just behind last summer's domestic opening of "Barbie" ( $162 million ).

The 2024 summer movie season is gradually becoming the season of comebacks. Last weekend, audiences showed they were ready to forgive Will Smith for the Oscars slap and showed up to theaters in droves for "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," which topped the box office with an impressive $100 million-plus global opening.

This weekend's impressive box-office numbers for "Inside Out 2" prove that audiences want to see Pixar titles on the big screen despite years of self-inflicted mishaps, like releasing "Luca" and "Turning Red" straight to Disney+ in the pandemic and the botched marketing campaign for "Elemental."

Here are the three reasons "Inside Out 2" was a box-office success.

"Inside Out 2" is a sequel to a beloved Oscar-winning original

2015's "Inside Out" was a story about the warring emotions inside a girl named Riley. We watched Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger navigate her mind, leading to a hugely entertaining and emotional story ( RIP, Bing Bong ) that went on to win a Best Animated Feature Oscar.

Releasing a sequel to such an acclaimed original — even though it's been nine years since the first film — is a pretty safe bet for success. Hollywood loves to replicate a winning formula ad nauseam, and that's exactly what Pixar leaned on heavily here. In the sequel, Riley, now a teen, has additional emotions like Anxiety, Boredom, Envy, and Embarrassment. The core emotions from the first movie clash with the new ones, leading to more clever laughs that work for both kids and adults.

It's far from the first time that a sequel to an established Pixar title led to paydirt: "Incredibles 2" holds the record for the biggest domestic opening for an animated title ever with $182.6 million, and went on to earn over $1 billion worldwide for its theatrical run.

It's still too soon to say if "Inside Out 2" will reach the $1 billion mark, but its weekend success proves that familiarity is key in getting people to theaters.

After diverse stories in other Disney films sparked backlash, "Inside Out 2" plays it safe

From a same-sex kiss in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" to casting a Black lead in the live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid," Disney has spent the past few years showcasing LGBTQ+ characters and telling diverse stories.

That strategy shift wasn't received without controversy, as some accused the studio of pushing a political agenda. Pixar wasn't immune to the criticism: A same-sex kiss in 2022's "Lightyear" led a movie theater in Oklahoma to post a letter to its patrons saying it would attempt to "fast-forward" through the scene .

Whether it was a conscious decision or not, "Inside Out 2" doesn't feature anything overtly "woke." In fact, Disney CEO Bob Iger said in an April shareholder meeting that the company is focused on entertaining, not advancing "any kind of agenda."

Audiences are starving for good children's titles in theaters

Titles geared toward kids continue to be immune to any kind of box-office slump. Films like "The Croods: A New Age" and Disney's "Raya and the Last Dragon" were big earners during the pandemic; John Krasinski's imaginary friend movie "IF" has steadily been earning bank since opening in early May, recently crossing the $100 million mark domestically .

Since so few of these kid-friendly titles hit theaters each year, parents flock to them when they open. Combine that with Pixar's fan loyalty, and you have a hit.

"Inside Out 2" also opened at the perfect time — in many parts of the country, kids are out of school for summer break.

If you dig deep into the numbers this weekend, you'll find Disney's Mea culpa to Pixar: The studio released "Inside Out 2" on a whopping 4,440 screens, the most for any movie released this year to date and the most since last summer's "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," which was released on 4,600 screens.

Clearly, now that Pixar movies are back in theaters, they're going to be playing everywhere — and that strategy is working.
