When to charter a yacht in the Mediterranean?

The peak yacht charter season is July and August, with charter and berthing fees generally rising during this high-demand period. The advantages of chartering during the high season are the exciting atmosphere, the fantastic schedule of mid-summer events, a slim chance of rain, and the guarantee that all restaurants and points of interest will be open.

For those wishing to avoid peak charter rates and possible crowds, the shoulder months of June and September are generally exceedingly pleasant, with September normally providing the warmer air and sea temperatures. April and October are much more variable, although many yacht charters are booked during these months- particularly when Easter falls in April. Late season charterers might be advised to enjoy the warmer climes and waters of  Turkey  or Malta.

Packed with tips and first-hand recommendations, our guide will give you the complete low-down to ensure you get the most from your vacation.

Best time to visit: June-September

The hedonistic hotspot of Ibiza has had a shakeup in the last few years. Sure, you can still go for the epic nightlife and parties, but dedicate a few days of your superyacht vacation to exploring the burgeoning health and wellness scene that’s sweeping the White Isle.

Drop anchor at Playa d’en Bossa, then head to Beachouse for a sunrise yoga session on the sand. Lunch calls for a trip to ROTO in the marina, offering stunning views of the motor yachts in the harbour, and out over the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dalt Vila.

Dedicate a few days of your Ibiza superyacht vacation to exploring the burgeoning health and wellness scene

Spend the afternoon cruising around the rocky island outcrop of Es Vedra to experience its magnetic lure, then round off the day at Blue Marlin for a dose of Balearic beats. Be sure to book ahead for Club 55 , the most iconic venue in the Cote d’Azur, and try and reserve a coveted table in the later lunchtime slot if you’re looking to rub shoulders with Hollywood heavyweights and the A-list elite. 

For some post-lunch entertainment, head to Verde Beach . Expect blast-from-the-past beats and dancing on the tables, as the St Tropez in-crowd transform Verde Beach into the most happening party in Pampelonne. Head back to the main port for dinner- L’Opera has got the ‘the dinner and a show’ concept down to an art.

The Amalfi Coast

Synonymous with romance, culture and rustic charm, the Amalfi Coast is one of the darlings of the Mediterranean. This region is worth a visit for those in search of timeless beauty, proper Italian dining and UNESCO-listed heritage.

Evening aperitifs are best enjoyed at Le Sirenuse

Begin on the south side of the coast with a trip inland to Ravello, a medieval village that sits at dizzying heights above the sea- take a walk around the gardens of Villa Rufolo , then enjoy a meal at Palazzo Avino overlooking the mountains and the sea.

The Cyclades, Greece

Best time to visit: june-october.

Scattered across the Mediterranean, the islands of Greece are ideal for exploring by boat. Set course for the Cyclades, where gems like Santorini and Mykonos are as alluring as ever.

If you’ve only got one day to spend in Santorini, we recommend a trip to Akrotiri for a look at an ancient Greek settlement, and Santo Wines , for a taste of the region’s finest vino overlooking the famous caldera.

Mykonos is set to be equally popular this summer, with the beach clubs buzzing and the picturesque bays studded with shiny superyachts. Head to Nammos for beachside dining, luxury shopping and partying among celebrities. If you're looking to spend a day on shore, Cavo Tagoo is the place to be: caves carved into the chalky cliffs create a remarkably pretty setting.

You’d be forgiven for mistaking Sardinia ’s sugar sand and pellucid blue sea for a slice of Caribbean paradise. Set adrift from the Italian mainland, this island has it all; come for the luxury retail, stay for the swimming, snorkelling and beachside bliss.

Sitting on the eastern tip of Croatia's coast, Dubrovnik is ideal for those looking to take some time out to recharge and enjoy the delights of discovering a new city. Bordered by sparkling Adriatic water, Dubrovnik is known for its Gothic architecture, dramatic terrain and buildings capped by baked clay-red rooves. 

The pace of life is slower in the city, so be sure to take some time to walk the stone streets and soak up the charms of Croatia . Trees grow everywhere, infusing the air with the scent of sweet figs and bitter oranges, for which Dubrovnik is renowned. 

If you're visiting during summer, you'd be remiss not to check out the Dubrovnik Summer Festival . This celebration of classical musical sees the city come to life with music and art, with plenty of concerts and recitals on the schedule.

Turkey's Turquoise Riviera has long been popular among private yachts, but recently we've seen an upswing in the demand for yacht charters in the region as well. Fethiye is one of the most popular spots to charter , as it provides access to tiny islands too small to name, sky-blue lagoons and secret coves where you drop anchor and swim straight up to the shore for lunch.

Below Deck’s Captain Sandy Isn’t Happy When Guest Floats Too Far From Boat: ‘This Is Embarrassing’

Captain Sandy Yawn wasn’t thrilled with some of the Below Deck Mediterranean team when a situation left a guest stranded away from the boat for 45 minutes.

During the Monday, June 17, episode of the hit Bravo series, bosun Iain Maclean was excited about the progress the deck crew was making.

“The season is still early but I have a really good team,” he said in a confessional. “Everyone is improving and things are going smoothly. No one is an idiot.”

It didn’t take long for an issue to come up when the guests wanted to play in the water. In addition to swimming, the exterior team prepared the slide, multiple WaveRunners and paddle boards. Deckhand Nathan Gallager was asked by a guest to join him on a separate paddle board in the ocean while the others stayed closer to the boat.

While both Joe Bradley and Gael Cameron initially had their eyes on the guests, Iain sent Gael for a three-hour break and seemingly didn’t notice that Nathan was nowhere in sight . Nathan and the guest were then seen getting worried about how far they had floated from the Mustique.

“It’s too far. We floated away,” Nathan said before elaborating to the cameras. “We are trying to row back to the yacht but we are actually going backwards because the current is that strong. So yeah, we are stuck at sea. I am s—ting myself.”

Joe was the first one to notice Nathan’s disappearance, saying, “Where the hell are these two? This is really embarrassing.” Before Iain was alerted to the issue, Nathan and the guest were already on their way back after hitching a ride on a catamaran.

Sandy, however, wasn’t pleased to hear that a guest was stranded for 45 minutes.

“This doesn’t make me happy. This is embarrassing,” she told Iain about the mistake. “No one really was watching them. Lesson learned.”

After Joe took responsibility for not noticing where Nathan was, Sandy explained why Iain was more to blame , adding, “I appreciate that Joe was accountable, but that goes back to Iain. You need two people watching the guests at all times. It is Iain’s job to delegate a watch person.”

She continued: “I am not happy. Always have your eyes on the guests if they are on any toys. The person in a tender follows them, make it a priority.”

Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean has gotten off to a rocky start in every department . Initially, the issue was with the provisioning company which left the interior team with none of the items that they needed for their first charter.

“I understand that sometimes you can’t get everything that the client requests. You are in different parts of the world with different stuff stocked. It is abnormal to not receive a shipment of wine and rosé,” she noted earlier this month. “Considering how badly this provision company messed up, we are going to need some changes after this charter.”

While there were problems that the crew had to work to rectify, they got along smoothly during the initial charter out of complete necessity .

The chef said he'd prepare snacks ahead of time, but when Elena was tasked with getting snacks ready for the guests late at night, there wasn't anything she could easily reheat or prepare.

Elena attempted to wake the chef in order to get some help, as she was the only interior team member available to help with the guests. While she felt it was the appropriate thing to do, Chef Jono refused to wake up to help her, turning her down multiple times before Elena went back to the galley to take care of things on her own. When Captain Sandy heard about Elena waking up the chef, there were repercussions for the Stew when she got called out in front of the rest of the crew for allegedly breaking one of the cardinal rules of yachting.

The Exterior Team Is Already Lacking Trust In Bosun Iain Maclean

His micromanagement wasn’t helpful.

During the second charter, things started out somewhat less overwhelming for the crew of Mustique. While the charter guests weren't more demanding than the first group, the primary was a friend of Captain Sandy's, making the stakes of the charter higher. Captain Sandy shared that the primary was used to a luxurious lifestyle, so she'd be looking for a high level of service and a high caliber of food and entertainment. Despite the fact that the crew felt they could deliver, Captain Sandy was clear they'd need to be on their best behavior.

While the meals from Chef Jono were an issue of their own, things became potentially dangerous when the exterior team took the guests out into the water on rafts, paddle boards, and other water activities. Though the majority of the women were safe, Deckhand Nathan took one of the guests out a bit too far and it wasn't noticed until it was too late for them to be brought back in without assistance. Both Nathan and Joe tried to get Bosun Iain's attention for help, but another boat picked Nathan and the guest up before the Mustique's crew could get to them.

After the incident, Captain Sandy wasn't happy with Iain , even though it was Nathan's mistake that caused them issues. With Iain not paying attention to his crew, Sandy reprimanded him and explained that he needed to keep a better eye on them. While Iain wasn't happy with the crew, they began to struggle with his higher level of micromanagement. Annoyed that they were being managed so closely after working well together, the exterior team didn’t feel they could trust Iain’s judgment.

The Interior Team Is Poised For a Love Triangle With Elena & Bri

Both women are interested in the deckhand.

While the exterior team is experiencing issues in their work, the interior team is potentially looking at some interpersonal issues between Stews Elena and Bri. The pair have been working together seamlessly throughout the first charters, with Elena fostering a sense of leadership with Bri, who's struggled working as a Stew in the past. Even with their partnership, E lena and Bri do have a bit of animosity between them , but things appear like they'll be getting worse in the coming episodes when the Stews both go for the same Mustique crew member.

During the first crew night out, Elena and Bri both got flirty with Deckhand Joe , and while he didn't seem like he was intentionally flirting with both women to cause drama, the attraction hasn't toned down. Throughout the most recent episode, both Elena and Bri were shown to still be flirty with Joe while they were also building their own relationship. While their bond has grown, it'll be that much more difficult when they're both interested in the same guy on Below Deck Mediterranean in the near future.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Episode 3 Recap: A Guest Gets Lost at Sea

Welcome to the  Below Deck Mediterranean  Season 9, Episode 3! In this week’s episode, called “Drifting Standards,” even though a new provisioner gives Captain Sandy hope for a better charter, Jono’s cooking fails to impress. One of the guests gets “lost at sea” alongside deckhand Nathan, which makes Sandy question the competence of her Bosun. Here are some of the highlights from Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Episode 3.

Romance scuttled

When last we visited Below Deck Mediterranean, Gael, and Nathan were looking for a place to canoodle “without cameras.” He finds a spot in the starboard bow locker and messages her to join him. As she’s trying to tippytoe through the galley, she gets busted by a camera crew and mutters, “Oh, sh*t.”

“Do you need a mic?” one of them asks.

“I’m not gonna speak [to anyone],” she responds. “I’m just getting water real quick.” And maybe “ a few wee strawberries ” while you’re at it?

“Why? What am I thinking? What am I doing?” she asks herself. Then she texts Nathan, “I just got caught by the cameras.”

“Hahaha,” Nathan texts back. “There’s no cameras from the bridge deck, can go straight into the bosun’s locker.” Oh, Nathan, the cameras are EVERYWHERE.

But Gael’s lost her nerve. “Haha, nah, let’s call it a night. Talk soon!” And she heads back down the stairs to her cabin. Sorry, Nathan, no strawberries tonight.

“I’m still in a relationship,” Gael interviews. “I feel like I’m having stronger feelings than I need to have in this moment. I need to go to sleep.”

So that’s that. “F*ck! F*ck me,” Nathan grumbles in frustration.

“I don’t want to pressure her or push her into making any dumb, stupid decision,” he says in a confessional. “I hope I won’t make things awkward, but that’s a risk I will take any time!”

A new ship’s supplier makes everyone happy

The next morning, Captain Sandy is emailing the provisioner. Oh, look! She’s wearing her brand-new wedding ring. So pretty! Congrats again, Sandy! We love a Below Deck Mediterranean love story.

“Last charter was the worst provisioning experience I’ve ever had in my charter career,” she says in a confessional. “So we’re changing provisioning companies.” I would think so! Hopefully, the new provisioners will be far more professional.

Aesha is pleased that Sandy has hired a new company. “Amazing! Fingers crossed this charter’s gonna be much more reliable.”

Iain, Aesha, and Jono join Sandy for a preference sheet meeting. The primary for the new charter is two-time Olympic gold medalist tennis champion Gigi Fernández. Sandy says, “I actually had her as a charter client, and we became friends after that. I had a great charter with them, and that’s why they’re coming back.”

“The chef I had [then] did, like, seven courses at each meal,” the captain adds, looking at Jono, who doesn’t look terribly thrilled. “Her expectations are high.”

One of the guests requests no mayonnaise, no lamb, turkey, duck, or pork. “She also has a gluten allergy,” Jono points out. “She hates seafood, whereas seafood is one of the top requests [by the others].” What on earth are they going to feed this woman?

Even though it will be challenging, Sandy says, “I really want to please her. They’re used to getting whatever they want when they want it.”

Jono is worried about cooking for someone who has so many difficult restrictions. “Pressure makes us better,” Sandy encourages him.

When the provisions arrive, Aesha exclaims, “Oh my God, a U.S. provision company that actually knows how to provision!”

Jono is nearly crying with relief. “What a great company!” Aesha squeals. “They actually had things I wanted, and they come on time!”

Not-so-tasty tacos

For the guests’ first meal on the boat, Jono prepares the seafood tacos they asked for. He says the last boat he worked on, the owners were from Mexico. “I’m gonna bring the spice,” he says. “The tacos are gonna be talking. They’re gonna be saying, ‘Eat me! Eat me!’” I hope they like spicy food, cause he’s definitely not holding back on the spices.

As she takes the food out to the guests, Ellie treads carefully with Jono. “After the whole panini-gate last trip,” she says, “I am definitely biting my tongue … All I can do is just remain professional going forward and not let this affect my job at all.”

At the table, Jono may have gone overboard (see what I did there?) on the spice because Gigi comments, “The spice in the rice, there’s a very distinct taste.”

“Do you like it?”

“No,” she responds. “There’s something overbearing in it.” Could it be the cardamom? That doesn’t sound like something that belongs in tacos.

“Yeah, you’re right,” her friend agrees.

The rest of the group concurs. “Woo, that’s spicy!” says one of the group.

When Ellie asks how everything is, Gigi decides, “It’s not Rachel good [the chef on their last charter], but it’s good.”

Adrift at sea

Iain is happy with his crew. “I have a really good team,” he says. “Everyone’s improving. Things are going smoothly. No one’s an idiot.” Don’t tempt fate, Iain.

Laura wants to paddleboard. After getting permission, Nathan accompanies her.

But when they try to return, Nathan realizes they’re farther away than they should be. Rather than watching the guests in the water, Joe is distracted by the ladies who want him to “take your shirt off!”

Attempting to paddle back, Nathan interviews, “We’re actually going backwards because the current is that strong. So, yeah, we’re stuck at sea, and I’m sh*tting myself.”

“What happened to Laura and Nathan?” someone finally asks.

“They’re way too far out,” Sandy says.

Fortunately, a passing catamaran picks them up and returns them safely to the Mustique. Sandy’s not happy that they almost lost one of the guests. Iain launches the tender to retrieve them, and Sandy radios, “Come see me as soon as the guests are back on board.”

“This is embarrassing,” she tells Joe. When he admits he should have had eyes on them, Sandy calls it a “lesson learned.”

“I appreciate that Joe is accountable,” Sandy interviews. “But [as for] Iain, you need two people watching the guests at all times. It’s Iain’s job as the bosun to delegate the watch person.”

“Always have your eyes on the guests,” she tells him. “When guests are in the water on any toy, one person in the tender follows them. Always. Make them a priority.” Neither Nathan nor Laura was wearing a life jacket. They could have drowned.

Iain interviews that he didn’t know he was supposed to keep eyes on guests in the water. Has he never worked on a yacht before?

“Go apologize to Gigi,” Sandy says.

“Poop on a platter”

When Sandy sees that Jono has prepared chicken as the main course, she’s a little disappointed. “The expectation of a Mediterranean charter is five-star food,” she says in a confessional. “Gigi has traveled the world. She has dined in some of the finest restaurants. Chicken is really not something that you serve on a super yacht. Everything has to be perfect.”

Gigi isn’t thrilled with the chicken either. “It’s just too much rosemary.”

“Everyone’s quiet at the table,” Aesha notices. “Coming from someone who proclaims very loudly every time they love food, I just feel like it’s usually not great if people aren’t wowing from their seats.”

“How was the chicken?” she asks the guests. “Is it okay?”

Julie Ann offers, “Mine came out pretty decent.” Not exactly a rave review.

When Aesha returns to the kitchen and sees what’s on offer for dessert, she exclaims, “Sponge cake?! It’s the most boring out of all the cakes.” Even though I could forgive him for the cake since it’s chocolate, Jono’s added a scoop of raspberry sorbet to the plate, which kind of looks like an afterthought. Plus, it’s raspberry, which I hate. Yuck. Aesha calls it “poop on a platter” in a confessional.

“You made me serve chicken, and then I’ve gotta give them spongecake?” she wails. “Like, I’ve gotta be the face of all of this sh*t.” It’s embarrassing.

When Aesha returns to ask the guests if it’s okay, Gigi says, “No, it could be more chocolatey.” Rather than dwelling on the disappointing dinner, Aesha hastily moves them along to the next activity.

Cold eggs for breakfast?

Next morning, Jono prepares Huevos Rancheros. But by the time the guests get to the table, the eggs have been sitting for an hour and a half. That’s disgusting. This is not how to Below Deck Mediterranean, Jono.

“Okay, Aesha, my egg is completely cold,” Gigi says. “If you could just bring an egg that’s hot, everything else is completely fine. There’s just nothing worse than cold eggs.”

Later when Gigi comes to visit Sandy on the bridge, she asks, “How was your breakfast?” Gigi admits the eggs were cold.

“So I sent them back cause you can’t have cold eggs,” she adds. “These people don’t want to complain … Like, last night’s dinner, ‘Chef’s Choice’ and this is what you give us?”

Gigi adds, “When you call something ‘deconstructed,’ it just means that it didn’t work out.” Not if you’re a good chef, it doesn’t.

When Sandy asks about the chocolate cake for dessert, Gigi admits, “It was not good. And then, lunch had some spice, I couldn’t place it. It was completely overbearing. Like, I have a high standard.”

“Oh, I know,” Sandy sympathizes. “On a charter yacht, you want the food to be superb.” These guests are paying a lot of money to be on this boat. They expect five-star dining.

“I know Gigi,” Sandy says in a confessional. “She wouldn’t complain just to complain.”

“I’m sorry,” Sandy tells her friend. “Thanks for letting me know. We’re gonna fix it.”

As soon as Gigi leaves the bridge, Captain radios, “Jono, Jono, can you please come to the bridge?” Uh oh. Somebody’s in trouble.

'Below Deck Mediterranean's Captain Sandy Is Wrong Again

In one of the latest episode of Below Deck Mediterranean , Captain Sandy Yawn got upset and told stewardess Elena Dubaich that she should never wake up the chef if the guests require late-night snacks. Only that's not fair or true. As seen throughout the tenure of all the Below Deck franchises, many crew members on the reality series have awakened the sleeping chef when the guests' food request could not be fulfilled by them. And most of the time, the chef understands. Not Chef Jono Shillingford . Captain Sandy is out there for herself and lacks awareness of her hypocrisy. She may be the central figure in publicity images for the show, but she will be the sole reason she sinks this ship. But hey, she's the perfect Bravo persona!

Back for its ninth season, Below Deck Med follows the trials and tribulations of some of the world's most majestic superyachts. For Season 9, fan-favorite Below Deck Med and Below Deck Down Under star Aesha Scott has returned to where it all began, serving as the Chief Stew under Captain Sandy this time around. This season, the high-class clientele will board motoryacht Mustique in the beautiful locale of Greece. Captain Sandy is back for her eighth season. And like her previous charter seasons, it's her rules. Which are, and have never been, consistent.

To Wake or Not To Wake, That Is the Question on 'Below Deck Mediterranean'

So your charter guests are a bunch of young 20-something British friends on holiday on a superyacht. Their charter had already been effected when the provisioners did not send the endless bottles of wine and Rosé that were ordered. The charter guests are not thrilled, but they're going with the flow thanks to the leadership of your chief stew. It's late night and the kids want to party and have unshockingly gotten the munchies . They're demanding nachos and grilled cheese, among other things. Messy, greasy snacks to soak up the booze. But you're the only stewardess up at this hour. They're already demanding endless beverages and now, they want you to make them food. They're already complaining about the slow service behind your back. Plus, you're not a professional chef who can whip up something special for this five-star demanding group. So, what do you do? You call in the reinforcements and ask the chef to assist.

'Below Deck Mediterranean's First Charter Had an Obvious MVP

The charter guests started to whine when they didn’t get their wine!

And now the chef throws a hissy fit and refuses to oblige, even though the preference sheet from the eager Brits requested late night snacks for their experience. Who's at fault? Is it the stew or the chef? According to Captain Sandy, you never wake up the chef. Which contradicts her previous rules from a few seasons back.

During Below Deck Med Season 5, following the unjust firing of Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier and Chef Kiko Lorran , the yacht was saved by Bosun Malia White 's boyfriend at the time, Chef Tom Checketts . Chef Tom didn't come on board in the best frame of mind and was easily irritated. During one of the charters, Chef Tom was awoken from a nap to slice cucumbers. Yes, slice cucumbers. But who was the person to wake him up? None other than Captain Sandy. Even with Chef Tom throwing a temper tantrum about losing precious nap time, Captain Sandy was adamant that the chef was hired to cook. So what happened between those four seasons? Did the rules change or does Captain Sandy simply have a fascination with asserting her authority? As a female in a male-dominated industry, Captain Sandy often overextends herself to ensure everyone knows who runs the ship. It's an obsession with dominance that has gone overboard.

Captain Sandy Is an Endless Contradiction

As asserted many times throughout her time on Below Deck Med , guest experience is the number one goal on Captain Sandy's ships. Her micromanaging techniques have found her undermining her crew in situations that other captains throughout Below Deck never do. She was seen criticizing Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier's lack of table decor prowess following her seeing prolific tablescapes at a boat show. She has gotten on the case of every Bosun with her obsession to get every single water toy in the ocean. Especially that gigantic water slide. But fans are quite aware that her obsession with water toys came after seeing a bigger boat with their toys out. Captain Sandy is all about making sure she's the center of attention. She wants to be liked. She even makes sure the offspring of famous singers post photos with her on social media so she can claim them as her friend every time they return for a charter. So her desire to ensure the guest experience is first rate makes sense. So this incident with Ellie and Chef Jono was perplexing.

'Mummy' is making waves as one of the best Chief Stews on Bravo's hit reality show

The situation was alarming because, at its core, guest experience is number one, yet Captain Sandy was willing to forgo that just to have a scene where she got mad and asserted her authority. Captain Sandy is a menace and a hypocrite. Her bias toward the exterior is unmatched and has proven she's willing to throw the interior under the bus. Captain Sandy had her mind made up and rather than trying to learn the truth, she took Chef Jono at his word and admonished and embarrassed Ellie in front of the entire crew at the tip meeting. Even Aesha was not so sure that Captain Sandy was entirely right, but having worked with her in the past, she knows trying to push back would only cause trouble for her later. Thanks to Aesha's leadership, she came up with a plan that Chef Jono should prepare paninis in case of an emergency in the future. But she also told him to read the preference sheet because the late night snacks were in fact his responsibility. Perhaps Captain Sandy's desire to side with Chef Jono also stems from him having more stripes than Ellie and wanting to assert her authority on someone significantly below her. Whatever the reason is, Captain Sandy has continued to double down on her move and excuses. It's getting tiring.

It's Time for Captain Sandy To Abandon Ship

All good things must come to an end. And it might be time for Captain Sandy to move onto greener pastures. As will be seen later this season, Captain Sandy is set to propose to her partner Leah Shafer. She has since gotten married , so maybe the happy couple deserves an extended honeymoon together. Captain Sandy's long tenure on the program has come with a mixed reception. Some fans enjoy her desire to be seen on camera more than any other captain ever does. Others have had it with her and believe she's the source of a lot of unnecessary drama. With the late-night snack debacle being the latest in a long run of controversial decisions, there has been one major Below Deck alum who has questioned Captain Sandy's decisions.

Of course, with this discourse, the Daddy of the Sea disagreed with Captain Sandy's statement of never waking up the chef. It's become common that Captain Sandy and Captain Lee Rosbach will never agree on management choices. Nor will she ever reach his status as the best captain in the Below Deck Cinematic Universe. So when Captain Lee came out with his statement, many fans rejoiced that the authority of the sea has spoken on the right way to handle things. He shared on social media, "If the guests want it and the stews can't handle it, of course you wake up the chef." Of course, someone's sensitivity had caused Captain Lee to have to clarify his statement that was not intended to slam Captain Sandy. He was just stating the truth without context, which makes the chef-waking up rule even stronger against Captain Sandy. Fans of Below Deck Season 10 remember when Captain Sandy rescued the charter season by temporarily replacing Captain Lee on the St. David when he was physically unable to. Like Captain Sandy does, she was trigger-happy about firing Captain Lee's crew without consultation. Yet another power move.

With two major Below Deck captains on both sides of the argument, maybe it's time for Captain Kerry Titheradge , Captain Glenn Shephard , and Captain Jason Chambers to weigh in on things! At the end of the day, it is Captain Sandy's ship to run it as she wants. But when the cameras are rolling and superfans can recall when she's defied her own rules, she deserves to be called out. Her actions have caused damage and will now bring a lingering aftermath and tension between two of her crew members. If Captain Sandy wanted to right her wrong, she would step in and admit defeat. But her pride will always get the best of her.

Captain Sandy is Currently the Longest-tenured Captain In the 'Below Deck' Cinematic Universe

And yet she might be the most device. Her presence as a LGBTQ+ woman in the highest position in the industry is inspiring. Her visibility to encourage others like her is important. But her management skill and interpersonal relationship tactics seem to shift on a dime, season after season. Her disdain for certain individuals she deems below her becomes evident in how she treats them. When she sees another female deckhand aspiring to be a ship captain, she takes them under her wing. And then thinks they immediately become buddies. How can she assert her authority as the top boss on the yacht if she’s not treating every individual with the utmost respect?

Yes, in any industry, every person in a management position can have a different management style. And yes, you can change your ways as you learn and grow. But that’s not Captain Sandy, as Us Weekly reports on her time on the show.. She will flip-fop her beliefs, views, and opinions to suit a situation . Try binge-watching all the seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean . Season after season, she comes in spewing contradictory facts and beliefs without ever admitting she might have been wrong. Nothing will ever come close to how she treated Hannah Ferrier and her panic attacks. She helped her in one season. Belittled and fired her the next. And then came back onto the screen when others were dealing with anxiety making people believe she is the biggest advocate for mental health. Hey Captain Sandy, I think Hannah deserves a public apology, not a continual double down on your stance!
