• BB Riverboats offers relaxing river cruises on three boats departing from Newport, KY Landing Dock. • The luncheon on the River Queen offers a variety of buffet options and drinks. • The experience is recommended for all ages and provides a peaceful way to spend the afternoon.

BB Riverboats gets its name from the initials of the people who were instrumental in starting the business. Ben Bernstein and Betty Blake which have since passed on. The company is now run by Ben Bernstein’s son Alan and his family.

The boats are named Belle of Cincinnati, River Queen, and River’s Edge.

All the cruises leave from the Newport, KY Landing Dock located at 101 Riverboat Row. Parking is free and if arriving early there is a nice indoor seating area with vending machines, and bathrooms. There are accessibility options for boarding including an elevator.

How was the luncheon?

I was on the River Queen for the captain’s lunch and there were plenty of options for the buffet. The tossed salad, fresh fruit salad, Kentucky hot brown, pasta dishes, cookies, brownies, chicken salad, and much more. All you care to eat which is included in the price of the fare.

b&b riverboats

Any wine or cocktails on the boat?

There are many choices of alcohol on the boat and served with a smile. Chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon Blanc, cocktails, and beer. The top deck has a bar and a bartender to serve guests as you overlook the amazing river.

Will you go back on the BB River cruise?

Yes, everyone should go on this river cruise and it’s for all ages.

I had a phenomenal time and experience on the River Queen. Super relaxing and I saw so much natural beauty on the river itself. Its therapeutic for the spirit and a peaceful way to spend the afternoon.

There are many options for cruises and several events throughout the summer. To find an event for yourself or group, checkout their complete website.

Watch: Elly De La Cruz homers onto the riverboat above the batter's eye at GABP

C incinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz homered onto Great American Ball Park's TriHealth Riverboat Deck, located in center field above the batter's eye during the bottom of the 6th inning of Monday's series-opening win against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The ball traveled an estimated 439 feet, with an exit velocity of 111.5 mph. De La Cruz 's 14th homer of the season gave the Reds an 11-3 lead.

"He went to the steamboat atop the batter's eye!" Bally Sports Ohio play-by-play announcer John Sadak exclaimed. "No mercy! Lark, a fan is holding the ball up on the boat!"

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

"I was waiting for that ball to come down and it just didn't," analyst and former Reds great Barry Larkin said during the broadcast. "My word! Look at this swing right here. I mean this ball is destroyed. Full extension. Yeah, that camera (can't zoom out enough). It's not coming down. My goodness! He is some kind of amazing."

"I don't think any of us have seen one go that far, but not a surprise," Reds manager David Bell told reporters after the game. "Obviously just incredible strength, incredible power. But it's really the at-bats that are leading up to seeing that type of display. The quality of at-bats are getting better and better."

Reds Phenom Elly De La Cruz's Latest Homer Landed Where Most Players Can't Reach

Elly De La Cruz notches a hit during the Reds' series opener against the Pirates.

Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz hit a ball where few players can during the team's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.

In the sixth inning at Great American Ball Park, De La Cruz smoked a 1–0 cutter from Pirates right-hander Daulton Jeffries. It easily cleared the wall in center field and landed atop the TriHealth Riverboat Deck above the batter's eye.

De La Cruz stood in the batter's box for an extra second to properly admire his latest bomb.

Statcast measured De La Cruz's exit velocity at 111.5 mph. It had a launch angle of 33 degrees and traveled 439 feet through the air before landing on top of the boat.

It was De La Cruz's 14th homer of the 2024 season, setting a new career high for the 22-year-old phenom. De La Cruz came into Monday's game batting .243/.338/.447 while leading MLB in stolen bases (37).

Young star shortstops on display in Reds-Pirates series

Elly De La Cruz and Oneil Cruz have two games to figure out a proper encore for their Monday night performances.

Share Video

The electric shortstops will each look to top the other again Tuesday night, when De La Cruz and the Cincinnati Reds host Cruz and the Pittsburgh Pirates in the middle game of a three-game series between the National League Central rivals.

Hunter Greene (5-2, 3.35 ERA) is slated to start for the Reds against fellow right-hander Mitch Keller (8-4, 3.11).

De La Cruz, 22, and Cruz, 25, each starred Monday night, when the Reds beat the Pirates 11-5 to leave the teams with identical 37-41 records.

The shortstops bounced back from a quiet head-to-head series last week -- when they hit a combined .200 (4-of-20) with two RBIs, one extra-base hit and one stolen base as the host Pirates took two of three from the Reds -- by going a combined 5-for-10 with two homers and six RBIs on Monday.

De La Cruz finished a triple shy of the cycle in the series opener. He put the game away in the sixth inning by hitting a 439-foot, two-run homer into the Riverboat atop center field to extend the Reds' lead to 11-3.

De La Cruz went deep hours after he and teammate Jonathan India talked good-natured trash about the other's inability to homer onto the Riverboat during batting practice.

"He was like, 'No way, man. You can't hit it harder than me,'" said India, contributed an RBI double immediately before De La Cruz's homer. "I was like, 'You can't even hit the boat.' Then he did it in the game. I was in awe at second base. I couldn't believe he did it."

Cruz provided the game's final runs with an impressive homer in the seventh -- a two-run shot that traveled 458 feet into the right field bleachers. He also helped the Pirates force Reds reliever Justin Wilson to throw 27 pitches in the ninth inning, when Cruz singled with two outs.

Pittsburgh eventually loaded the bases before Wilson ended the game by striking out Nick Gonzales.

"I was proud of the fact they kept playing," Pirates manager Derek Shelton said of his players. "We ended the game with the bases loaded and we continued to grind out at-bats."

Pirates left fielder Bryan Reynolds finished 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI as he extended his hitting streak to 21 games. It is the longest active hitting streak in the majors and the longest by a Pittsburgh player since Jason Kendall hit in 23 consecutive games from June 24-July 21, 2003.

Greene and Keller opposed one another on Wednesday, when neither pitcher factored into the decision in the Pirates' 1-0 win. Greene gave up two hits and struck out nine over 6 1/3 scoreless innings, while Keller surrendered two hits and whiffed seven over seven shutout innings.

Greene is 0-2 with a 1.55 ERA in five career starts against the Pirates. Keller is 2-4 with a 5.45 ERA in 15 career starts vs. the Reds.
