Attended a wedding here and it was over the top amazing! But I'm not sure if the food and service is reflective of the club, or the caterers who organized such an amazing event. So this review is really that of the wedding I suppose. The setting is beautiful on the water with a multitude of boats, yachts and sailboats. The simple two level facility is simple, understated and elegant.
What an impressive venue for an event. This yacht club dates from 1887 and is one of the oldest private clubs in Miami. It backs up right on Biscayne Bay, with a stunning building, and a lawn out back that slopes to the water. Looking around you're thinking "bet the original Vizcaya owner hung out with his buddies here." They were pretty cagey when I asked what the membership fees were: I think the silent non-answer meant "if ya gotta ask ya can't afford it, buddy" LOL It's easy to miss the entrance turn, there are stone pillars and a small roundabout then a gate with a security code. For an event they either give the code or have it open with a valet. There's self parking but on a fairly dark lawn away from the front door. The event was quite a classy affair in a classy venue. A creative black tie and/or costume was encouraged for a fundraiser called the Beaux Arts Ball (benefits the Lowe Museum at University of Miami).
I went to a wedding held at this location. They had the ceremony outside close to sunset. The bride, groom, and water view was beautiful. The weather was perfect, it was windy so it was like outdoor AC. They have a good amount of green space in the back that overlooks the water. Perfect for outdoor events!
