History of X-Yachts

X-Yachts is a Danish based company that was founded in 1979 with a vision to create exceptional sailing boats. It started out as a small scale production of eight boats a year but has grown to become an internationally recognized and respected manufacturer of sailing and racing yachts.

What is X-Yachts?

In 1979, one of today’s most successful and quality orientated production yards was established in Denmark.

During the 1980’s, X-Yachts designed and built winning IOR yachts for World Class Racing. Their success with this market attracted the attention of the cruising market, which was then looking for fast, high quality and comfortable sailing yachts. It seemed very clear that X-Yachts should use their boat building experience from the fast racers and combine them with building high performance cruising yachts.

X-Yachts is now the biggest production builder of high-tech yachts, using a vacuum infusion process. Every gram of weight saved in the hull and deck of the Xp55, Xp50, Xp44, or Xp38 allows a greater amount of ballast to be added to the T-bulb keel for improved stability, which is particularly important when sailing short-handed. It also enables the yacht to carry a higher aspectrig for greater power and faster performance. Stiffness ensures that power is translated into controllable speed, with responsive steering, and excellent sea-going capabilities. Meanwhile the renowned strength of X-Yachts gives complete confidence in the event of a collision or grounding.

Designed and developed for long-distance cruising, the Xc 50, Xc 45, Xc 38, and Xc 35 take many of the qualities of the performance X-Yachts such as rod rigging and fully encapsulated keels, but also have many features that make it ideal for offshore passage making:

• A powerful engine in a well-insulated compartment,with a 3-bladed folding propeller
• Large fuel and fresh water tanks, all strategically located low and central in the yacht for optimum weight distribution
• An immensely strong steel hull girder frame, taking the loads from the composite lead/cast iron keel as well asfrom the keel stepped mast
• Deeper hull sections provide a greater interior volume,giving more storage and space for essential cruising equipment, a feature which also provides smoothersailing in all weathers.

The new 'X' models include innovative design features above and below deck, the latest build technologies and the use of exceptionally high -quality materials. Danish X-Yachts is one of the youngest yacht shipyards in Western Europe it was founded in 1979 by brothers Lars and Niels Jeppesen . First they released the boat, 26-foot racing yacht X-79 won >Sjælland Rundt, in those days, the largest regatta in which participated more than 2 thousand carriages.

throughout the 1980s yachts X-Yachts has continued very successfully to compete. In 1987, the top ten finalists Sjælland Rundt seven boats were produced in Haderslev . As is usually the case, on the yacht drew the attention of the cruising market, which gave the shipyards the incentive to development.

In 2009, the first model of the new cruise series XCruising >Xc 45 won the title of boat of the year. Since its founding, X-Yachts has released about 5 thousand boats. Its turnover in 2012 amounted to $42 million, and the number of employees grew to 250 people.

First Columbus Atlantique 43 yacht Night Fury II delivered

Columbus Yachts has delivered the first yacht in its Atlantique 43 series, named Night Fury II . According to BOATPro , Night Fury II is currently en route to Malta and is estimated to reach her destination on Friday.

The 43-metre yacht was launched in April in a ceremony attended by the European owner and his family, having been sold in 2021 with the buyer introduced by Renaud Canivet of Ocean Drive. Two more 43-metre hulls will be launched by the Italian brand, to a design by Milan-based studio Hot Lab . 

According to the studio, Night Fury II 's exterior is "a fairly organic blend of a motor yacht and a classic sailing hull", seen best in the "sailing-type" stern. Naval architecture is by Palumbo Superyachts in collaboration with Hydro Tec .

Night Fury II' s defining feature is her beach club, which has two fold-out side wings and is arranged around a panoramic swimming pool that sits 50 centimetres above the water. A connection with the outdoors is further encouraged with the yacht's fold-out balconies and bow dip pool, surrounded by sunpads, an al fresco lounge and far-reaching ocean views.

Guest accommodation is across four double cabins, two VIP en suite cabins and two twin cabins. Meanwhile, the full-beam master cabin on the main deck is arranged with a kingsize bed, full-length windows, a dressing room and a private terrace aft.

The main saloon offers two relaxation areas, including one designed as a cinema lounge with its large sofa and 82-inch, wall-mounted television screen.

Other amenities on board include an al fresco dining table for 12 guests and an adaptable guest room that can be used as a gym or library.

A 5.5-metre tender garage is located aft, with additional storage space for a second tender or rescue boat alongside two Jet Skis located on the main deck forward. 

Powered by twin Cat C32 Acert engines of 970kW, Night Fury II can reach a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots.
