Freedom, we show you the details of roberto cavalli’s radical yacht.

The new 28-meter yacht by Cerri Cantieri navali unleashes every bit of the personality of the Italian designer. Freedom is a true custom yacht, with interiors and exteriors designed and made to measure and a super-performing hull as desired by the owner.

CCN’s ( Cerri Cantieri Navali ) Freedom is the third unit of their Fuoriserie collection: 100% custom made yachts made to measure for the demanding owners.

The design of Freedom is by Tommaso Spadolini , who developed her along with Roberto Cavalli himself like they did for the previous yacht “RC”.

We are used to Cavalli’s eccentric style, on and off the catwalks. RC was a perfect example: 42 meters painted with an iridescent livery whose color changes according to the direction of the sun rays. A yacht also famous for the lascivous parties , enjoyed by celebrities, which took place on board in the most exclusive places.

This time he wanted a “small” yacht: only 28 meters . It is not made for parties, but for the relaxed holidays of a couple . As radical as Roberto Cavalli is, he initially wanted Freedom to have just one cabin . Then he decided to have a second one for the guests (in addition to the crew space). Let’s discover this unique boat then…

Outside the look is total black . Refined yet aggressive, it is inspired partly by classic motorboats and partly by Batman-like crafts. At the stern, two arches connect the fly and the main deck, as well as framing the cockpit, and become a visual element that characterizes the yacht.

The cockpit is extremely low on water. It is how Roberto Cavalli wanted it. It becomes one with the living area, which features three glazed and fully opening sides. But once closed, the room turns into a comfy and protected space with air conditioning.

Roberto Cavalli loves piloting and he loves speed (he often takes the helm himself). Along with the for a close contact with the sea, he also wanted a very performing means.

The sunbathing area with a sofa for two hides the garage for the tender: the three jets left no space fo an aft garage. The tender is 4 meters long.

Freedom’s internal layout is definitely unusual. They clearly state how the boat is a 100% one-off. The focal point of the yacht is the full-beam master cabin on the main deck .

Freedom’s master cabin is like a control room : from here you can directly access both the living-cockpit area and the staircase leading to the flybridge . Through the bow door, on the other hand, a few steps lead to the wheelhouse , which is also connected to the crew quarters.

The galley on the lower deck is huge: there’s an informal corner for the owner’s breakfasts and snacks, but much more. Roberto Cavalli loves to cook and he definitely doesn’t want to feel tight.

Throughout the boat there’s a series of backlit panels with blow-up photos from all over the world. They are shots made by Cavalli, who has traveled the world far and wide.

The decor is all by Roberto Cavalli, who has selected fabrics and finishes , as well as furniture and accessories . His signature is unmistakable: statues, golden details and animalier patterns.

Tommaso Spadolini celebrates 40 years of success in yacht design

As soon as she’s been introduced in Cannes, Freedom has been awarded as the most avant-garde yacht of the year. Definitely an appropriate prize.

Recently new images of the 28-meter yacht  Freedom  have been unveiled. This wonderful vessel belongs to Italian designer Roberto Cavalli and today we’re having a closer look at the interior of the ship.

This yacht was launched last year as fully-custom design ship made by Cavalli himself in a collaboration work with fellow designer Tommaso Spadolini. The main idea behind the design of this vessel was to maximize the contact with the sea while at the same time assuring the necessary privacy of the owner. In the matter of privacy, it’s to note that Cavalli took care of that part, by designing an aft cockpit with floor to ceiling curtains.

The interiors were created by Cavalli and they feature fabric and leather finishes and bulkheads assuring the best comfort and luxury for the Italian designer. The main deck owner’s suite is one of the first amazing sights when it comes to yacht interior design enhanced by the presence of central skylight and four large windows which allow astonishing views of the sea.

On the lower deck, you can find the dining area as well as two guest cabins for four guests and the crew quarters. These guest cabins feature customized furniture exclusive from the Roberto Cavalli Home collection with the same beautiful mix of animal patterns and metalwork that gives the divisions a more chic touch to them.

The main deck has the advantage of having four slope steps created with the purpose of making the beach area and the main lounge seem closer to the water. Who wouldn’t like to explore a yacht like this, right?

"Freedom" : Transformer yacht for fashion designer Roberto Cavalli

Few owners downsize in the course of their yachting life. For Roberto Cavalli, downsizing seems almost absurd. However, as the Florentine fashion czar with a penchant for extravagance wanted to be behind the wheel himself more often and only has a pleasure craft licence, his new yacht had to be less than 24 metres long. The hull of "Freedom" actually measures 28 metres, but the removable bow and stern sections mean that it falls under the CE limit.

Cavalli had a clear idea of the exterior. "Roberto wanted something sporty and aggressive that reflected his attitude to life at sea and his strong personality. He wanted a boat that Batman would drive!" recalls Tommaso Spadolini of the first iteration in 2016. The two friends had already developed the predecessor yacht "RC". Cavalli used the 41-metre-long Baglietto with a purple metallic hull as a business yacht on which he invited customers and partners to promote his brand. "This time he wanted a yacht purely for private use with his partner, two crew members and up to four guests. Not forgetting his two dogs, Lupo and Lapo!" says Spadolini. The yacht designer, who is also based in Florence, worked on the exterior together with Cavalli and advised him on the interior design. "I'm a creative person, so I wanted to do the interior design myself, which meant choosing all the materials, decors and accessories. Tommaso supported me along the way to ensure that the furniture I chose fitted properly into the available space," says Cavalli, describing the creative and collaborative way of working. Even if the brand that bears his name is now taking a somewhat more moderate course in terms of fashion, the leopard prints are still a must. The 78-year-old last sold his company, which has been in the red since 2013, to an Italian investment company in 2015.

In his private life, Cavalli, who describes his own style as eclectic, still likes it flamboyant. In the owner's area, golden snake handles hang in front of fronts with a crocodile structure, the eagle sculptures on the sideboards in the lounge also shine in gold, and the obligatory feline predator décor crops up again and again, even in a highly desaturated version on the wall panels. A wide variety of African animal skin prints can be found on the upholstery, cushion covers and bedspreads.

The curved "RC" letters of the brand logo are the first to be crossed by those who board via the stern. However, the fashion designer also provided more moderate impulses, such as the prints of his own photographs applied to the bulkheads. They are all travel shots by a passionate photographer.

The owner looks out over the New York skyline from his bed, above which a round skylight made of frosted glass provides natural light. Behind it hangs - completely uncovered - a projector that projects onto a retractable screen. Four steps lead up from the aft main deck to his 22 square metre quarters. The reason for this is a key specification requirement: the owner's cabin should be located on the main deck and offer exclusive access to both the helm station and the flybridge. If the door to the aft deck lounge is closed, the sundeck becomes a private owner's terrace. "This is a first on a yacht of this size - with all-round sea views and natural air circulation," says Spadolini, emphasising the advantages of the split-level layout.

Close to the sea due to low bulwark

At the same time, it was important to Cavalli that the lounge on the aft deck was just above the surface of the water to maximise the proximity to the sea and was surrounded by a low bulwark and three large doors. "This gave rise to the design challenge of reducing the ceiling height of the engine room," says Spadolini, explaining the specifications he gave Cerri Cantieri Navali (CCN) for the construction of the aluminium structure. The shipyard from Carrara in Tuscany only had fourteen months from placing the order to delivery. "Although we approached several shipyards, CCN was the only one willing to accept the tight schedule. Due to its proximity to Florence, Roberto was able to visit the shipyard frequently and accompany the construction," says Spadolini.

In the eight metre long engine compartment, three MAN diesels produce a total of 4191 kilowatts. The twelve cylinders are coupled to two Kamewa jets, which frame a booster. The water jet propulsion is based on another requirement for "Freedom": that she has to run at 40 knots. "During the seatrials, we managed 46 knots with nine tonnes of fuel and no furniture, now it's 42 knots," explains the captain, who has been sailing on jet-powered yachts for almost his entire life.

The ceiling height rises in front of the lowered engine compartment, and a door leads to the galley, which, together with the dinette, extends over the entire width of seven metres. The owner and crew share the 4.30 metres of worktop. Cavalli's requirement was a kitchen like on land. Guests who have to make their way from the main deck via the central staircase through the galley or from the steering position via the companionway also feel at home. They then enter the eighty centimetre wide corridor, from which they turn off to port into a double cabin with bunk beds and to starboard into a twelve square metre suite. The retreats for the crew of two are located in the foredeck and consist of a cabin for the captain and a double cabin, which, however, is only occupied by a stewardess. If you take the stairs up from here, you reach the helm station with captain's chairs for the owner and captain, from which there are exits to the side decks.

The superhero yacht from Cavalli

The gap in the storage space left by the lowered aft deck is closed by a carbon canopy on the foredeck, whose sixteen square metres of teak become a sunbathing area. Is this where the Batman magic is hidden? Not quite, the 3.45 metre long tender is a standard model, as is the crane. There is also storage space for loose furniture under the canopy.

But this is precisely part of the special equipment that undoubtedly belongs to a superhero vehicle, like the visually striking features that distinguish the saviour of mankind as such from a distance. One such feature on "Freedom" is the aft arch of the superstructure, the Spadolini arch. "The round curve protects the rear cockpit from the wind," says the master craftsman, adding: "To emphasise the sporty nature of the yacht, we had the hull painted in metallic black and the superstructure in dark grey metallic."

After the first test runs, Roberto Cavalli was delighted with his 28-metre fun yacht: "I'm over the moon with the end result and want to spend as much time on board as possible. This year, I plan to live on board almost continuously until September!" If that doesn't sound like the ultimate dolce vita plan for a private owner.

L’idea di yacht che Roberto Cavalli aveva in mente era ben chiara: “Disegnami qualcosa che Batman voglia timonare!”. E Tommaso Spadolini lo ha accontentato. Ecco svelato il design unico di 28m M/Y Freedom

Uno yacht dalla personalità graffiante , tipico dello stile animalier dello stilista: Freedom , questo il nome dello yacht di Roberto Cavalli , è un 28 metri da vivere per crociere in coppia, tre membri di equipaggio e al massimo quattro ospiti. Un’imbarcazione fully costum con scafo e sovrastruttura in alluminio che può raggiungere i 40 nodi di velocità massima grazie a 3 idrogetti. Interior design che richiama il Roberto Cavalli style, ed anche il costo dello yacht è assolutamente esclusivo: il prezzo infatti è stimato attorno ai 15 milioni di dollari .

Tommaso Spadolini , noto progettista di yacht , dalla cui prolifica creatività sono nate più di 200 imbarcazioni, racconta così il suo rapporto con lo stilista: “Il mio rapporto con Roberto Cavalli risale a quasi 20 anni fa, quando abbiamo lavorato insieme al suo precedente yacht, il 41m Baglietto RC”.

“La nostra collaborazione si è rinnovata nel 2016, quando mi ha contattato per disegnare un nuovo yacht. Le richieste, questa volta, sono state molto diverse. Roberto Cavalli aveva usato RC come yacht aziendale per promuovere il proprio business ed era sempre pieno di ospiti VIP. Questa volta desiderava uno yacht da vivere per crociere in coppia, tre membri di equi In termini di design degli esterni, Roberto Cavalli voleva qualcosa di sportivo e aggressivo che riflettesse il suo personale approccio alla vita in mare e la sua forte personalità”.

Roberto Cavalli e lo yacht di Batman

Per utilizzare le parole dello stilista, racconta Spadolini, voleva “una barca che Batman desiderasse timonare!”. “Abbiamo sviluppato molti differenti profili prima di giungere al design esterno finale con due ampi archi che inquadrano il pozzetto e che al contempo lo riparano dal vento. Per enfatizzare e trasmettere la natura sportiva di questo yacht, abbiamo deciso di pitturare lo scafo di nero metallizzato e la sovrastruttura in grigio scuro metallizzato”.

Pur avendo contattato diversi cantieri per costruire lo yacht, Cerri Cantieri Navali (CCN) è stato il solo disposto ad accettare gli stretti tempi di costruzione, di soli 14 mesi, e che ha inserito questo yacht nella sua gamma Fuoriserie. “Essendo situato a Carrara, in Toscana, Roberto ha potuto recarsi spesso in cantiere per seguire i lavori, partendo dalla sua casa di Firenze”, aggiunge Spadolini.

Yacht di Roberto Cavalli: “Privacy senza compromessi”

Lo stilista Roberto Cavalli racconta: “La sfida era quella di massimizzare il contatto col mare assicurando al contempo una privacy senza compromessi. L’aspetto fondamentale del progetto era la volontà di creare uno spazio molto confortevole, con pochi gradini, luce e ventilazione naturali e una vista completa sul mare. La mia cabina si trova dietro la timoneria perché io timono anche da solo”.

Un’altra caratteristica importante dello yacht 28m M/Y Freedom è il fly deck privato , così come l’ampia cucina/dinette e i confortevoli alloggi per l’equipaggio sul ponte inferiore. “Io sono una persona creativa, quindi desideravo creare io stesso l’interior design, il che ha significato selezionare tutti i materiali, le finiture e gli accessori. Tommaso mi ha affiancato lungo la strada per essere sicuro che il mobilio scelto fosse corretto per gli spazi a disposizione”, ha aggiunto lo stilista.

“Il mio stile è eclettico e ho scelto molte stampe animalier africane per le tappezzerie, i cuscini e i copriletti: si tratta del tema di diverse mie collezioni di moda” aggiunge Roberto Cavalli. “Sono anche un appassionato fotografo e le paratie sono decorate con foto panoramiche che ho scattato durante i miei viaggi. Sono entusiasta del risultato finale e voglio trascorrere più tempo possibile a bordo. Quest’anno, per esempio, ho pianificato di iniziare la stagione con una crociera pasquale, sperando di vivere a bordo fino a Settembre!”.

Tommaso Spadolini, 40 anni di attività nel segno dello stile

Lo studio Tommaso Spadolini ha celebrato 40 anni di attività nel 2018 . Architetto e designer – Tommaso Spadolini è uno dei più qualificati rappresentanti delle eccellenze culturali Italiane e proviene da una famiglia fiorentina di architetti; il padre, Pier Luigi, a partire dagli anni ’60 è stato autore di diversi progetti di imbarcazioni, tra le quali la celebre serie Akhir dei Cantieri di Pisa . Timeless classic: questa la definizione più internazionale dello stile Spadolini. Linee pulite, essenziali, sobrie e senza tempo, volte a creare un design al servizio della funzionalità che nasce dalla continua interazione con l’armatore. 

Interazioni che nella maggior parte dei casi si sono ripetute fino a fidelizzare i clienti nel corso degli anni, diventando rapporti personali e di lungo respiro. Progetti dedicati ad una committenza di alto livello, sensibile ed esigente, come il Fortuna progettato per la Famiglia Reale spagnola, il primo yacht a superare i 70 nodi di crociera, oppure Nina J, 42 metri – vincitore del World Yachts Trophies nel 2006 a Cannes. Risale al 2011 Numptia, il 70 metri costruito da Rossinavi che vince i World Superyacht Awards nel 2012.

Un design al servizio della funzionalità – stilema riconoscibile in ogni progetto Spadolini, elaborato negli anni, dall’esordio con Canados, lunga collaborazione che ha visto nascere oltre 100 barche, sino al Don Giovanni di Aprea selezionato per il Compasso d’oro . Tommaso Spadolini ha realizzato progetti per molti cantieri che fanno parte della storia dell’industria nautica: Cantieri di Pisa, Barberis, Alalunga, Baglietto, Codecasa, Rossinavi . Tra le molte altre collaborazioni con cantieri internazionali di primaria importanza, la progettazione degli interni per i primi due 80′ Wally di Luca Bassani e per Bao Bab, il primo motoryacht dei cantieri inglesi Camper&Nicholson.

La profonda conoscenza del mare e dei segreti della navigazione, raggiunta grazie anche alla sua grande esperienza come velista e regatante, unita a un personalissimo estro creativo, segna con forza la progettazione di Tommaso Spadolini e del suo studio.

In ricordo dello stilista fiorentino tanti dettagli dei suoi yacht più famosi

Fra le passioni dello stilista Roberto Cavalli, scomparso venerdi 12 aprile, al primo posto c’era sicuramente la moda di cui si circondava anche a bordo dei suoi yacht, altra grande passione che amava personalizzare con la sua inconfondibile cifra stilistica dai toni forti e richiami animalier.

I due più famosi yacht che gli sono appartenuti, l’RC e il Freedom, sono la prova di come il suo stile pervadesse tutta la sua vita; per progettarli lo stilista fiorentino aveva voluto l’architetto Tommaso Spadolini.

Per il primo, 41 metri costruito da Baglietto nel 2000, la linea disegnata da Spadolini è contemporanea, sportiva ed elegante. Lo yacht RC, che ha ospitato sfarzosi party a cui hanno partecipato le celebrity dello star system mondiale, ha due ponti, cinque cabine per dieci ospiti con master suite sul ponte principale e prestazioni molto elevate grazie alle tecnologie più all’avanguardia del tempo in temini di strumentazioni ed optional.  Qui il richiamo animalier amato dallo stilista è evidente soprattutto in un tavolo da pranzo in madreperla con sedie decorate con il motivo del pitone, presente in tutti gli interni dello yacht. Altra grande particolarità di RC era, al tempo, il colore cangiante del suo scafo che a seconda della luce del sole poteva apparire in sfumature che  andavano dal bordeaux al viola.

Per l’altro yacht, il Freedom, la collaborazione fra Tommaso Spadolini e Roberto Cavalli si rinnovò nel 2016 ma questa volta, spiega l’architetto in un suo scritto, lo yacht non era voluto per ospitare feste, ma per crociere strettamente private con la sua compagna, tre membri dell’equipaggio, massimo quattro ospiti e i suoi due cani Lupo e Lapo.

Avendo la patente nautica, Cavalli voleva anche un’imbarcazione più piccola per essere più vicino all’acqua e poterla guidare da solo, ideale era quindi una lunghezza al galleggiamento di 24 metri o meno. Lo yacht doveva inoltre essere in grado di raggiungere i 40 nodi: da lì i tre motori Man accoppiati a tre idrogetti KaMeWa e una costruzione leggera in alluminio e fibra di carbonio.

Lo stilista desiderava la sua suite su un livello rialzato dietro la pilothouse – novità assoluta per yacht di queste dimensioni – con vista sul mare a 360° e ventilazione naturale. Spadolini ideò quindi una disposizione su più livelli con il salone principale sul ponte principale a poppa, con la suite armatoriale  situata quattro gradini più in alto, allo stesso livello della pilothouse. Le peculiarità di Freedom sono rappresentate anche dall’accogliente salotto sul sundeck con accesso privato dalla suite armatoriale e, fra quelle più difficili da realizzare, l’abbassamento dell’altezza del ponte: una sfida ingegneristica – sottolinea l’architetto – dato che la sala macchine tre si trova proprio sotto di esso.

In termini di design esterno Roberto Cavalli desiderava qualcosa di sportivo e aggressivo che riflettesse il suo personale approccio alla vita in mare e la sua forte personalità. “Per dirla con le sue parole – ricorda Spadolini, voleva una barca che Batman avrebbe guidato!”. Furono quindi sviluppati diversi profili prima di finalizzare lo stile esterno con due ampi archi che incorniciano il pozzetto di poppa e che aiutano a proteggere lo spazio dal vento e infine, per enfatizzare e trasmettere la natura sportiva dello yacht, venne deciso di dipingere lo scafo di nero metallizzato e la sovrastruttura di grigio scuro metallizzato.

Sebbene fossero stati contattati diversi cantieri per la costruzione dello yacht, Cerri Cantieri Navali (Ccn) fu l’unico disposto ad accettare il rigido programma di costruzione di soli 14 mesi nell’ambito della sua linea Fuoriserie.

“Roberto Cavalli – continua l’architetto Spadolini – da creativo quale era aveva voluto occuparsi personalmente del design degli interni scegliendo anche tutti i materiali, finiture ed accessori e il mio aiuto era importante per assicurarsi che i mobili scelti si adattassero correttamente allo spazio disponibile. Cavalli scelse molte stampe africane in pelle per la tappezzeria, i copricuscini e i copriletti – tema ricorrente nelle sue collezioni di moda – e, da appassionato di fotografia, volle le paratie decorate con le foto panoramiche che aveva scattato durante i suoi viaggi. Il risultato finale lo rese felicissimo.”.

Lo stilista Roberto Cavalli in Cilento con il suo yacht di lusso Freedom

Non solo Capri e la Penisola Sorrentina: anche il Cilento , questa estate, è meta di personaggi noti. Al porto di Acciaroli , ad esempio, ha fatto capolino il noto stilista Roberto Cavalli , che è arrivato nella famosa frazione del Comune di Pollica a bordo del suo yacht di lusso, Freedom . Lo stilista, dunque, si aggiunge alla schiera di personaggi famosi che, durante questa calda estate, si stanno avvicendando sulle coste e sulle isole campane: dal cantante italiano Cesare Cremonini, avvistato a Ravello, in Costiera Amalfitana, a star della musica internazionale come Mariah Carey e Jennifer Lopez, che invece hanno fatto tappa, nei giorni scorsi, a Capri.

Freedom, lo yacht super lusso di Roberto Cavalli

Come detto precedentemente, lo stilista Roberto Cavalli è arrivato nel porto turistico di Acciaroli a bordo di Freedom, il suo yacht super lusso. L'imbarcazione, lunga 28 metri, è stata costruita nei Cantieri Navali Cerri nel 2018, mentre la progettazione e il design sono opera del noto designer Tommaso Spadolini , che ha firmato anche il precedente yacht dello stilista, che ha scelto personalmente materiali, finiture e accessori per gli interni. Lo yacht di Cavalli è stato pensato per pochi intimi, dal momento che può ospitare 6 persone, così come sono 6 i membri dell'equipaggio a bordo.

The yacht's general design work came from Tommaso Spadolini. The professional naval architect firm plans are the work of Tommaso Spadolini. Motor Yacht ROBERTO CAVALLI (RC) received her elegant interior designing from the interior design office of Studio Gagliardi. In 2004 she was actually launched with triumph in La Spezia and post sea trials and detailing was thereafter delivered to the owner. Cnb Yachts (Cantieri Navali Baglietto) completed their new build motor yacht in Italy. The hull was built out of aluminium. The motor yacht superstructure component is fabricated mostly with aluminium. With a beam of 8.6 m or 28.2 ft ROBERTO CAVALLI (RC) has spacious interior.
