BRIS Inflatable Boat Reviews: Who Makes These Boats?

If you’re looking for a tough inflatable boat for serious use, you’ll surely come across BRIS.

BRIS Inflatable boats are easily one of the most popular for online buyers.

Their high-quality, durable boats have hundreds of happy customers. Plus, they offer a variety of inflatables for every use.

However, these boats don’t come cheap. Getting a BRIS will always be a commitment, which brings up the question…

Is it worth it?

Today, we’re taking a deeper look at the BRIS Inflatable brand. We’ll look at:

  • Who BRIS is made for
  • The BRIS Inflatable boat line-up
  • The BRIS accessory shop
  • Who’s behind BRIS

With these, you can decide for yourself is BRIS is worth it.

Let’s begin!

Who is BRIS For?

Bris inflatable boats, bris mini catamarans, bris inflatable river rafts, bris inflatable kayaks, bris accessory shop, who makes bris boats, alternative brands.

If you’re looking for a simple, affordable inflatable boat… look elsewhere.

BRIS isn’t something for people who are just getting started, these are for serious boaters .

Sure, these aren’t the boats the Navy Seals use , but they very well could be. All BRIS boats are strong, durable, and packed with features.

Unfortunately, this makes them fall on the expensive side.

Their price tags scare away people who aren’t willing to invest. Instead, they attract fishermen and adrenaline junkies who need a high-quality inflatable boat.

BRIS Product Line-Up

One of the reasons BRIS is popular is because they have so. many. boats.

They come in all shapes and sizes for your every need.

Their line-up can be broken up into three categories:

  • Standard Inflatable Boats
  • Mini Catamarans
  • Inflatable River Rafts
  • Inflatable Kayaks

Let’s have a look at each one.

What sets BRIS aside from other brands?

Their durability .

BRIS produces some of the strongest inflatable boats you can get your hands on.

Even their smallest, cheapest boat is made from 1100 denier 0.9mm PVC . This gives it excellent tear, UV, tension, and breaking resistance. Not to mention their pro models go all the way up to 2000 Dtex, 1.2mm PVC !

Yes, PVC will never be as strong as Hypalon . However, compared to other brands, BRIS’s PVC is quite special.

Plus, their heat-welded seams won’t give. Great material is no good if the seams break right away. With BRIS though, both won’t let you down.

BRIS boats also come in a bunch of sizes . You can get their 8.2 ft recreational and fishing boat…

Whatever you’re doing, there’s the perfect size for that (unless you want something smaller than 8.2. BRIS only makes medium to large inflatables) .

All these boats were designed for serious activity , such as fishing, diving in deep water, or rescue missions. They all have solid-floors, whether that be a high-pressure air floor or an aluminum one .

Watch how to set-up a BRIS pro boat here:

They also have a bunch of features all around . They come with aluminum oars, oarlocks, benches, one-way drain valves, steel d-rings, repair kit , carry bag, and a foot pump… what more could you ask for?

As for color, most BRIS boats come in white. But you can also opt for their black or red boats for more style.

  • Manueverable

They’re more stable on the water thanks to their double-hulls. They’re more spacious thanks to their open nose. And they’re more maneuverable thanks to their ingenious design.

You get the point… these are luxury boats.

Going river rafting?

BRIS has you covered.

With their inflatable river rafts, bringing a raft upstream has never been more convenient. You can deflate and fold them up into a compact ball whenever you wish.

BRIS 1.2mm 9.8ft Inflatable White Water River Raft Inflatable Boat FloatingTubes

  • Premium Quality Materials : BRIS rafts are made by 2,000 Dtex 1.2mm PVC fabric with polyester support, having excellent resistance to tearing, tension and breaking . It is a much more heavy-duty PVC...

These rafts were built to be strong and durable – just like all BRIS products. They were built to withstand whatever the river throws at them.

That’s why they’re made from 2,000 Dtex, 1.2mm PVC fabric . They also have heat-welded seams to ensure that no air escapes.

With their super stable high-pressure drop stitch flooring – you’ll never feel wobbly even when the river gets rough. They also have a unique self-bailing system that allows you to choose your speed.

BRIS’s river rafts start at 9.8 ft, all the way up to 15 ft long. So if you’re up for some rafting with your friends, BRIS will definitely be worth a shot.

BRIS 1.2mm PVC 15ft Infltable White Water River Raft Floating Raft Tubes Boats

If river rafts weren’t enough, BRIS also has its own line of inflatable kayaks.

These aren’t your traditional kayaks which feature only 1-2 seats with very little space. Instead, BRIS’s kayaks are more like super-thin inflatable boats.

BRIS 12 ft Inflatable Kayak Fishing Tender Inflatable Poonton Boat 2 Person Kayak

Like the rest of BRIS’s products, these kayaks are also extremely durable.

If you want a single-person kayak, BRIS also makes one “ BRIS Inflatable High Pressure Kayak Canoe Boat One Person “

You’re going to be hard-pressed to find a single-person kayak as high-quality as this one.

BRIS doesn’t only make boats, they also make everything boat-related.

Their shop includes:

  • Inflatable fenders
  • Drain plugs
  • Halkey Roberts Valves (and HR valve adapters)
  • Boat covers

Looking for replacement parts? This is one of the best places to get them.

Plus, they also have bimini tops

Portable Bimini Top Cover Canopy for Length 7.5-11 ft Inflatable Boat (2 Bow)

  • Marine grade polyester 600D canopy coated PU
  • Light weight aluminum & portable design

If you want to stay cool in the shade, these will protect you from the sun when you’re out in the water.

When it comes to quality, no one can doubt BRIS has it.

However, if there was any downside to BRIS Inflatable, it would be their customer service.

There’s something slightly shady about this brand.

What do I mean?

Well, it’s impossible to pin down where these boats come from. BRIS’s website has an American address, but all that leads to is a warehouse.

From my research, I gathered that BRIS boats are made in China .

Where in China? No clue.

BRIS doesn’t have a landline number, only an email address. Plus, some customers run into trouble when it comes to warranties.

BRIS offers a 3-year warranty for all their boats. But when it comes time to use this, you may have a difficult time.

Again, their customer service isn’t great.

If you want good return policies, the best place to buy a BRIS is through a trusted dealer.

For example, Amazon has a 30-day return policy. If there’s a problem, you can return the boat to Amazon without having to deal with BRIS.

All that said, you should remember that BRIS boats are very high quality. Getting a bad egg from them is rare. Most buyers will never have to deal with BRIS anyway.

It’s hard to find a brand that produces boats at BRIS’s quality.

But one noteworthy competitor is ALEKO .

ALEKO is famous for its highly-durable aluminum floor boats. Unlike BRIS, there’s nothing shady about ALEKO. They’re based in Washington and are known for providing great customer service.

They don’t have as many options as BRIS – they are, after all, a company that sells so many other things aside from boats. But in terms of quality, it’s hard to judge who has the upper hand.

Is BRIS worth it?

I won’t say.

But if you’re looking for a tough boat that will survive all the challenges you throw at it…

…If you’re willing to invest in an inflatable boat that won’t let you down…

…If you don’t mind dealing with a company that isn’t too transparent so long as they deliver the best quality…

… then BRIS will be perfect for you !

Opinions on Bris boats?

Saw some YouTube videos of this boat company and I'm interested in maybe buying an inflatable from them. Looks like a Chinese company that mostly sells on ebay. All the YouTube videos and eBay review have been very positive but of course the longevity of the boat is what concerns me.

Asian manufacturers makes lots of inflatables with different names so near impossible to track down which Company actually makes them. At least are heavy duty Korean or German ? 1.2 mm PVC fabic which is a plus over the standard 0.9 mm ones. Check their warranty if opting going for one. Happy Boating

I was leaning towards the Bris or SeaBright based on the 1.2mm fabric and cost. I chose to go with SeaBright even though it was about $150 more because of the reports and reviews about their service and reputation and because it has a fiberglass transom over the marine plywood. Not sure what size you're looking for but the heavier duty fabric is only offered on the 15'+ boats with SeaBright. If I had wanted to go smaller, I probably would've selected Bris but would've been more nervous about the purchase. Do note that SeaBright offers a hypalon upgrade in the smaller sized boats that is more reasonably priced. If you happen to consider SeaBright, Daniel the owner is the main contact and great to work with. He helped out a lot with shipping and customs to make it as easy as possible. I've also corresponded with him many times, especially during my decision making process, and he was always very prompt with a response. Also, if you look at the SeaBright pricing, note that it is in Canadian Dollars and the conversion right now is 1.31 so take the price and divide it by 1.31 for the American Dollar equivalent.

It's a pitty that SeaBright dealer has not requested his supplier smaller size sibs in PVC 1.2 mm fabric, costs bit more but adds more tube rigidity and more man abrasssion punishment, UV included. Being hypalon is not a synonym of being thick compared to PVC fabrics. Small size ones use very thin Hypalon fabrics, attractive price issues... Happy Boating

There are many Hypalon thickness fabrics, starts at around 0.7 mm and goes up tp 1.2 mm fabrics for recreational boats uses. Usually small inflatables are assembled with 0.7 mm fabrics, larger ones with 0.9 mm fabrics, large ones with 1.1/1.2 mm fabrics. More thick the fabric, more expensive it turns out. Happy Boating

Thanks nuener. Yeah they have a good warranty but my preference is to not have to use it.. all the reviews have been great on their boats but most of the owners have had their boats for less than a year. We'll keep an eye on them but don't think I'll buYing a new boat this coming summer. Would love to but I shouldn't!

It's not the thickness of the material that is important. It's the quality of the fabric and whether it is glued or thermo bonded that is important. Hand glued PVC boats have anywhere from a two to six year average service life depending on UV levels.

  • Jan 13, 2016

Besides PVC fabric quality, employing good quality 2 part glue assures Long Live the Inflatable along proper inflation & care... Happy Boating

Glued Seams vs. Welded Seams

Welded seams are often used for RIBs as they are affordable, typically easy to do, and inflated most of the time. Glued seams are best for boats you intend to fold and unfold constantly.

Welded seams become brittle and will start to leak. Additionally, they are not totally repairable as you can only patch them up, which compromises your boat’s quality and performance.

You want to purchase glued seamed boats, which are more flexible and have higher holding power in complex shapes and sizes.

Frequently Asked Question

Yes, you most definitely can, but there are a number of little details you and your team need to remember when leaving it inflated. Equipping your dinghy catamaran with chaps is best to protect it against UV rays and keep off bird poop. Inflatable bottom paint is also one thing to help your boat contend with any growth in your waters.

The best way to store an inflatable catamaran is by deflating it and rolling it up. Store it in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. You can also use a storage bag to keep it protected while in storage.

Inflatable catamarans can last for a very long time, provided you take good care of them. Your inflatable catamaran can last for many years with proper maintenance and storage.

Inflatable catamarans are just as safe as any other type of boat, provided that you use them properly and follow all safety guidelines. Always wear a life jacket when aboard an inflatable catamaran, and avoid rough waters.

Insider Advice

If there’s one thing you need to remember when purchasing and maneuvering inflatable catamarans, it’s safety. You may want to be the next Laura Dekker or chill out in the water on some days.

No matter what, you need to take California-approved boating safety courses and always have a number of life jackets with you for you and your crew.

Better be on the safe side all the time.

Fill ‘er Up (With Air): The 6 Best Inflatable Catamarans for Fishing, Fun and Portability

Fill ‘er Up (With Air): The 6 Best Inflatable Catamarans for Fishing, Fun and Portability

From the wooden rafts of Polynesia to the 60s surf culture of the Hobie Cat, catamarans (or simply cats) have been a fun way to enjoy the local lake, ocean or bay.

That seemingly effortless way they glide across the water is both relaxing and exhilarating.  What's not relaxing is lugging a heavy vessel across the sand or investing in an expensive traditional catamaran.

Have you considered an inflatable catamaran? Inflatable catamarans are a less expensive and more portable option to traditional cats. You can even use them as inflatable dinghies and yacht tenders.

The main design of a cat is 3000 years old and influenced by the Polynesian wooden rafts that made long journeys across the Pacific. You don't have to journey across the Pacific (or even the Atlantic) to enjoy the fun, convenience and diversity of catamarans.

Keep reading to discover more about inflatable catamarans and how they might be just what you need for fishing, diving or just cruising around the lake.

What is an Inflatable Catamaran?

With a design based on geometry, just like their traditional non-inflatable counterparts, inflatable catamarans offer stability and smooth sailing due to the wide beam and double- hulled tubes on either side.

This isn't your typical full-size dive/snorkel/sightseeing catamaran you've seen in the local marina. They range in size from eight to 15 or so feet and can be propelled by sails, an outboard engine or a pair of oars.

The unique thing about inflatable catamarans is that they, well, inflate, as well as deflate for storage in a car or on a bigger boat. This also makes it easier to carry to and from the water.

Similar in design to a pontoon boat, inflatable catamarans have actually been called pontoon boats (though they're technically not), along with fishing boats or even inflatable kayak s (which they're really not either).

While they don't have cabins or storage in the tubes like full-size (non-inflatable) cats, they can accommodate anywhere from two to eight passengers depending on size.

Benefits of Inflatable Catamarans

  • Lightweight
  • Foldable (like a folding kayak )
  • Fuel Efficient
  • Wide beam for stability
  • Small enough to navigate small coves and sandbars

Features of Inflatable Catamarans

Parallel Tubes:  Two pontoon-like tunnel-hull tubes, located on either side of the platform, provide stability and flotation. They usually have multiple chambers to make inflation easier.

Wide Beams:  Like a traditional cat, this makes it stable for one or multiple passengers whether you're fishing, anchoring out or just cruising around the lake.

Sectional Aluminum Floors:  Sturdy aluminum provides a stable surface. Sections make it easier to put together and take apart.

PVC Hulls:  The bottoms of inflatable catamarans are usually made out of durable PVC, which helps prevent tension and tearing.

Heat-Welded Seams:  Heat welding ensures a sturdy, durable and water-resistant seam that can stand up to saltwater, fresh water and high heat. The high heat factor comes into play if you store it for long periods of time (such as in a garage, shed or attic).

Marine Plywood Transom:  Marine plywood is designed especially for wet, humid and marine environments. It makes a strong material to hold a small outboard engine.

Multiple Propulsion Methods:  Inflatable catamarans can be operated with outboard engines , sails or oars and paddles .

Uses for an Inflatable Catamaran

  • Tender/Dinghy
  • Diving/Snorkeling
  • Support vessel for watersports such as swimming, kayaking and rowing

Six of the Best Inflatable Catamarans

1. bris 15.4 ft. inflatable boat.

Check price on Amazon

Constructed out of 2000 Denier 1.2mm PVC fabric, this inflatable catamaran is durable and resistant to tearing and tension.

It has sturdy heat-welded seams that are guaranteed to last in saltwater , fresh water and high heat.  Reinforced fabric withstands rugged gear like dive tanks and fishing tackle.

A marine plywood transom provides space for an outboard motor (it can handle a 35 HP engine). A deep-V keel with rub-strake protection offers easy planing.

The tube bottoms each have a double layer of fabric that provides protection from sharp rocks, sticks and other debris.

There are five individual chambers, a one-way drain valve with a plug, built-in oarlocks and a strap to secure a gas tank.

It comes with a PVC hull, aluminum floor panels, three aluminum bench seats, two aluminum oars , a carrying bag and a foot pump.

2. BRIS 11 ft. Inflatable Catamaran

If you're looking for a great cat in a smaller size than the 15-foot BRIS, this 11-foot BRIS is a terrific alternative.

The main tubes and floor fabric on this cat are made out of 1100 denier 0.9 mm PVC. The tubes each have two air chambers, and the floor is 80 mm thick.

A marine plywood transom can accommodate an outboard motor. Tube bottoms have two small fins for better direction. Extra wide rub strakes on tube bottoms allow you to pull up on rocks.

It comes with a foot pump, carrying bag, oars and a repair kit.

3. BRIS 9.8 ft. Inflatable Boat

Whether you're diving, snorkeling or fishing, the heavy-duty 1,100 denier 0.9 mm PVC and polyester support provide resistance to tearing, tension and breaking.  The sectional aluminum floor is sturdy and has a corrosion-proof platform.

The transom is covered with triangular splash guards to minimize splashing and protect the transom holders from heat and exposure to UV rays.  Getting up on a plane is easy via the deep-V keel with rub strake protection.

This inflatable cat has heat-welded seams, separate internal air chambers and a marine plywood transom.

4. Sea Eagle Inflatable FoldCat ProAngler Fishing Boat

Check Price on Amazon

For the fishing enthusiast, the Sea Eagle inflatable cat makes a great alternative to bass boats. Designed for two adults, or 650 pounds, this cat is made of 1000 denier and has quadruple overlap seams, raised oarlocks, rod holders and a motor mount.

Two swivel seats sit up high above the floor, making this cat an excellent choice as a fishing kayak . The casting bar is one of my favorite features for visibility and stability while fishing.

A folding frame provides a stable and rigid floor platform. There are carrying handles at the front and back.

5. Dolphin 8.8 ft. Model SB-270A “ 2021 Inflatable Sports Boat

Sleek and contoured, the Dolphin is my pick for best inflatable catamaran. It has more of a sporty look than some.

Created by nautical engineers to provide rear buoyancy and faster planning, it's made of .9 mm 1100 denier reinforced PVC material, which is UV, oil and puncture resistant. Thick PVC holds 8 PSI and provides a stable air deck floor.

Easily portable, it can be assembled and disassembled in about 10 minutes. It has one front and four rear exterior carrying handles.

It comes with a removable seat bag and cushion, two aluminum oars, a carrying and storage bag and two front towing D-rings.

6. Inflatable 1.2 mm PVC 15 ft. Windsurfing Catamaran

We didn't forget the sailors and Hobie cat enthusiasts in the group. This super cute inflatable catamaran comes with two sails made of 3.8 OZ Dacron.

The PVC tubes are 1.2 mm. Each has an air chamber. It can accommodate four passengers and is easily assembled in about 30 minutes.

It comes with a pump and carrying bag but doesn't include oars or a motor.

Accessories for Inflatable Catamarans

Check Price on Amazon  - Better Boat's mini telescoping paddles collapse down for easy storage and transport. It has a T-grip handle, sturdy locking joints and a high-impact plastic blade that's perfect for kayaks, dinghies and PWC.

As you can see, inflatable catamarans offer a lot of flexibility and convenience in addition to the whole portability factor.

and is available with both closed and open transom and front.... I cant believe they have not taken off faster... maybe cause is a long way away. The are made in but under strict quality guidelines.... very detailed construction too. TheY may be hard to get as Greg Snowden is not focuses on yA.. write him and he will write you back. I see no reason to buy a West , , or any of these unless you want more weight, slow speeds and a rougher wetter ride. I see hard bottoms good for very rugged areas or people who beat the crap out of things.

Takacat
TrueKit
Saturn

The colors and design vary... Take a look at them all... Saturn is the least expensive but dont have the taper design of the others... the is great and dont weigh much.. the are faster and lighter. I know Taka and TrueKit fit into a small bag and look into all websites and decide.

Who needs the hassle of another .... I swear by this concept.

Boat: Bruce Roberts 45
, I'm on my second, I had an 8ft dana first and it will fit your description mostly. the boat is 107lbs, had 18" tubes which make it seem much safer in rough as it towers over the dinghy's with 15'' tubes, granted it probably makes it even worse to row. the quality is very good, and the customer has been equally as good. Mine 8 footer would plane with two people with an 8hp tohatsu . it did 17mph. the boat costs $799 new and they ship same day. they also have a two year warranty.

BRIS BSA380 Review / Great Value & Quality 12.5ft Inflatable Boat

Bris Bsa380 Inflatable Boat Review

BRIS BSA380 12.5 ft Inflatable Boat Opinion

The BRIS BSA380 is a rugged inflatable boat with a unique look. It features class-leading thick PVC fabric, a sturdy aluminum floor and transom, and loads of included accessories. The boat can support 6 people and is very safe out on the water, even the ocean when paired with a max 25 HP engine.

  • Customer reviews on Amazon
  • BRIS BSA380 review

There is no dearth of inflatable boats on the market. But not all are made the same.

As you will read in this review, the BRIS BSA380 is a very high quality inflatable boat built for rafting, fish hunters, scuba diving, or whatever you can throw at it.

It’s built robustly enough to put up with the daily grunt and grind of professional rafting, and caters to recreational rafters equally well.

If you are on the market looking for a high quality inflatable boat, the BRIS BSA380 is worth taking a look at. In fact, it is one of the best inflatable boats on the market in 2024 .

Keep reading to learn more about the boat’s features so that you can ascertain if it’s worth your money.

Features of the BRIS BSA380

This BRIS is a professional-level, rugged SIB. Here is a summary of its features.

Premium and Durable Build

The BRIS BSA380 is made from high-quality 2000 denier 1.2mm PVC fabric. There is polyester support, which also lends to the boat’s solid resistance to tension, tearing, and breaking. Compared to the 1100 DTEX 0.9mm PVC fabric, the material used for this boat is significantly more heavy-duty.

The seams are heat-welded, which ensure perfect seaming and increased durability in saltwater, freshwater, and extremely humid conditions. The majority of the seams have a quadruple overlap, lending the boat maximum durability and strength and making sure the boat doesn’t fall apart.

The floorboard is made of aluminum, meaning it is very stable, but takes longer to set up than a high pressure air floor.

Bris Bsa380 Review 4

The boat has integrated oarlocks for seamless rowing, they worked great with the supplied oars.

BRIS uses Halkey-Roberts valves on this boat. A foot pump comes standard, but if you have a pump of your own, you’ll need a suitable adapter.

On the looks front, the boat comes across modern and aggressive . It gives you a feeling that it has been built to perform and speed through waters. The dual rocket-like front elements or the tubular design make this boat fairly different from the competition, which mostly offers rounded and traditional looking boats.

Bris Bsa380 Review 1

The color of the boat is black, which makes it look very cool, but this color heats up more intensely than any other color. It becomes hot to the touch under direct sun, and the air inside might expand more than you would expect. The heat will dissipate into the water, but do not leave it in direct sunlight when not in use on land.

The boat has been designed to manage outboard engines of up to 25 horsepower .

Naturally, it has a V-keel for easy maneuverability and planing.

Bris Bsa380 Review 3

There is a grab-line as well across the sides of the boat. It, in fact, lines across the boat’s entire perimeter. You also get handles that you may use to grab and move the boat around on land and when you want to put the boat in position.

The seats that come bundled in with the boat ensure you have proper sitting space as soon as you install the boat.

The boat comes with durable marine plywood outboard motor transom.

There are two layers of fabric underneath the tubes. This protects the lower 2.4 mm tube from abrasive sands and sharp rocks. There is also deep V-keel and rub-strake protection.

The grab lines make you feel secure in the boat and also help with seating. They make sure you have no trouble treading even the harshest of waters.

Other pro-safety design aspects include three individual chambers and a single-path drain valve with a plug.

Assembling the BRIS BSA380

The BRIS BSA380 is pretty straightforward to assemble. It should not take more than 20 minutes of your time if you follow the instructions.

Read this article for the details on how to assemble an inflatable dinghy .

Once you do it a few times, it will become faster and faster.

This is a big boat, so it’s better to use an electric pump than the included foot pump. Unless you want a good leg workout of course 🙂

Here are the electric pumps I have experience with and can recommend .

This is a large boat, it weighs 180 lbs altogether. The hull itself weighs 120 lbs, and the aluminum floor is 60 lbs. It actually comes with 2 carry bags. One for the floor and one for the boat.

Accessories

Unlike other similar inflatable boats, the BRIS BSA380 packs in quite a bit of punch. Not to mention, when you order this, you will have a couple of boxes shipped to you, 2 boxes to be exact. One is 49 x 26 x 14 inches and the other is 41 x 28 x 4 inches.

It is just not possible to pack them all inside a single box, as it would then become too heavy. The accessories included are:

  • two aluminum bench seats
  • aluminum floor panels
  • two aluminum oars
  • carrying bag

The bundled-in accessories are a lot more in number compared to what inflatable boats of similar prices and types offer.

You may not put all of those items to use right away, but it’s nonetheless handy to have additional items on hand, in case you need them in the future.

Long story short, the BRIS BSA380 is packed with accessories that let you use the boat to its full potential right off the bat, and also helps you repair it in case you manage to puncture it somehow.

All of BRIS’ inflatable boats come with a 3-year warranty against manufacturer’s defects.

Normal wear and tear is not covered of course.

BRIS BSA380 specifications

Capacity6 people (1675 lbs)
Dimensions12’6″ (ca. 380 cm) x 2’9″ (ca. 84 cm)
Weight180 lb, ca. 81 kg (120 lb boat + 60 lb floor)
Air chambers3
Vinyl2000 denier 1.2mm PVC

Who is the BRIS 380 Best For?

The BRIS BSA380 has been primarily designed to cater to both professional and recreational users.

You can use it for literally anything you would use a dinghy for, including:

  • scuba diving
  • transportation

If you are considering this boat, keep in mind that it’s a 180-pound inflatable, which means you shouldn’t be buying this if you’re not going to primarily use it with multiple people or larger loads. This is a 6 person boat .

If you’d like more people aboard simultaneously, you may take a look at BRIS’ 15.4 foot variant .

If you are a solo rafter, you should probably be looking at a smaller boat. You would still be able to use the BRIS BSA380, but its sheer size and weight would become quite cumbersome.

You would need at least two people to carry the boat around if you don’t have launch wheels like these .

What Amazon users say

I only tried the boat once so it was interesting to read the customer reviews of the BRIS BSA380 .

Most users are very happy with the boat’s build and durability. They have also found the BRIS customer service department to be quite responsive and courteous.

Also, when fully inflated to its 180-pound maximum heft, some users have found it difficult to move the boat to the waters. The majority of these affected users, however, remedied the situation by installing removable wheels to the boat.

The manufacturer – BRIS

BRIS (also known as BRIS Marina) is a company based out of China. All of their boats are manufactured in China, just like most inflatable boats nowadays.

Bris Logo

The company makes high quality inflatable boats and kayaks at a lower price than other US based manufacturers.

Opinion of the Bris BSA380

The boat, like most users claim, should hold up well in the long run. It’s built to withstand harsh conditions. You just have to take good care of the boat and keep up with its maintenance and operational requirements.

15 Best Inflatable Boats for Every Need

bris inflatable catamaran review

I live on the ocean on Cape Cod. The beach in front of my house is sand rocky. I want to use a 15 or 20 HP outboard on the Bris boat. Not sure of size yet but 12 to 14 ft boat. I want to simply drag the boat out of the water, over the sand and rocks and leave it on the beach when not in use. I will of course secure it to a pole cemented in the ground when not in use. When weather is rough or a storm coming, I will remove from the beach. Will the Bris boat stand up with the 2000 denier ,1.2MM pvc material? Biggest concern is, will the bottom of the boat stand up to the abuse of being on the rocks. Also what other brands would you recommend I look at. Thanks in advance for the help

bris inflatable catamaran review

Hi there, As I mentioned in the article, “There are two layers of fabric underneath the tubes. This protects the lower 2.4 mm tube from abrasive sands and sharp rocks. There is also deep V-keel and rub-strake protection.” Unless you have razor-sharp cliffs on your beachfront, you’ll be fine with this boat. Actually, I don’t know of any other in this price range that is so rugged. Make sure you cover your boat to protect the PVC again the Sun’s UV rays.

bris inflatable catamaran review

We purchased that boat and the build quality is terrible, used it 5 times and its coming apart, this review must be done by someone who used it once to make this review and never used again. Stay away

The boat comes with a 3-year warranty, which is a lot in the industry. It shows you the confidence the manufacturer has in the boat. Despite this, manufacturing defects do occur, which is probably what you are experiencing. Contact the company and get a new boat, I’m sure it will be good.

10 Best Inflatable Catamarans To Buy In 2024

Takacat-T380LX

What Are Inflatable Catamaran Sailboats?

Catamarans are easily spotted by being water vessels consisting of 2 parallel hulls (of equal size), connected together by a frame. With a priority on smooth sailing and stability, Inflatable Catamarans are your holiday go to option as they can be driven by engines, sails or a pair of oars.

Oars are used for rowing, and they’re connected to the water vessel via oarlocks or designated pivot points. The difference between a pair of oars and paddles is that paddles are held by the paddlers when propelling the vessel, while oars are connected to watercraft via oarlocks.

With so much to see and do during the holidays and at your leisure, you sure wouldn’t want to miss out on your scheduled adventurous activities. Inflatable catamarans give you the option to go where bigger catamarans/boats would prefer not to, due to sizing and sometimes distance. Take a dive into our top 10 picks for the best kayaking GPSs on the market.

Inflatable catamaran dinghies are geometry stabilized water vessels that derive their stability from their wide beams. They’re unique in size, as their typical size range is between 8 – 14 feet (∌ 244 – 427 cm).  The inflatable catamaran could get slightly larger depending on the specific purpose for which it was created.

They are used for a host of different purposes, of which some include: relaxation & picnicking, sporting, diving/snorkeling, fishing, marine research, and search and rescue. Before we proceed any further, even though inflatable catamarans have excellent maneuverability and are relatively stable, always ensure you’ve got a life vest, or if you’re with the crew, life vests .

Also of important note is, if you’re inexperienced, you shouldn’t try doing this on your own. It’s advisable you have an experienced individual with you before heading out, it’s better safe than sorry.

In addition to inflatable catamarans being very portable and lightweight, they provide a lot of comfort alongside fun. Some important accessories to have handy with your inflatable dinghies or catamarans include anchors, foot pumps, storage covers, oars (or paddles), cart with wheels (for ease of transport from and to the target water location).

Don’t forget to check out our Kayaking Near Me Interactive Map for finding the best kayaking locations near you, and of course our Fishing Near Me Interactive Map as well.

Benefits of Inflatable Catamaran Dinghies

  • They’re Portable, compared to their standard catamaran counterparts
  • They’re silent and lightweight water vessels
  • They’re fuel efficient (For the non-electric engine powered vessels)
  • Smooth sailing and amazing stability (From the wide beams)
  • Some have quick and easy inflation and deflation
  • They’re foldable (this goes a long way in assisting their ease of portability)
  • A good option to navigate smaller areas larger boats wouldn’t go
  • Excellent maneuverability
  • They can be left inflated for long periods of time (Find a way to protect them from UV rays and of course, the birds leaving gifts in the form of droplets on it).

BRIS Boat Components

BRIS Raft Setup

Let’s start off with the fact that the instructions are completely inadequate, fortunately, I have set it up and will give you step-by-step instructions of what I had to go through to put this BRIS raft all together. See the video below.

Unpack boxes and check for damages and read the instructions. Note: the instructions are not thorough and you will have to figure some things out on your own
or watch the video below as Mike has to figure several things out himself.

Air everything up to 40% of its capacity, except for the floor.

Air up the BRIS Inflatable Raft

Install the aluminum floor. This is where it gets more challenging and the instructions don’t guide you along well enough. First, make sure the reinforced seams between the outside tubes and the flooring is separated. If this is new boat, you may find the seams are stuck together. The aluminum floor needs to fit into the reinforced seam.

BRIS Boat Reinforced Seam

Starting with the first floor at the front of the boat. Continue connecting all the flooring together until you reach the back of the boat.

BRIS Raft Floor Installation

The last piece of flooring is more difficult. You need to slide it under the two plastic tabs at the back of the boat.

BRIS Boat Plastic Tabs at the Back

Keep the floor tilted up toward the front of the boat, then take the other floor that you previously installed and lift it up so it basically makes a tepee.

BRIS Boat Flooring Instructions

Let the two pieces lock together and then slowly push the to pieces down to finish the floor.

BRIS Raft Aluminum Floor

Lastly, Snap the side pieces into place at the edge of the floor to secure the floor.

BRIS Boat Floor Installation

Next, finish inflating the boat/raft but remember, when you’re floating a river, there are times you may want slightly less air in your tubes and other times you may want the tube aired up more.

BRIS Finish Inflating the Raft

Install the aluminum benches. You’ll need to slide them in and position them where you would like them.

BRIS Aluminum Benches

Lastly, install the oars, load up your raft and go enjoy the river.

BRIS Install the Oars

Final Thoughts

I have said this several times, but you will have some trouble following the instructions as you set this raft up for the first time as they are not detailed.

BRIS 12.5' Inflatable Boat/Raft

Another thing to leave you with is for the price point of this boat, the BRIS inflatable raft has thicker material than most other rafts and was the primary reason Mike bought this boat.

Check out this detailed YouTube video on how to set up the BRIS Inflatable Raft.

  1. BRIS Inflatable Boat Reviews: Who Makes These Boats?

BRIS produces some of the strongest inflatable boats you can get your hands on. Even their smallest, cheapest boat is made from 1100 denier 0.9mm PVC. This gives it excellent tear, UV, tension, and breaking resistance. Not to mention their pro models go all the way up to 2000 Dtex, 1.2mm PVC!

  2. Opinions on Bris boats?

    72. Dec 21, 2015. #4. I was leaning towards the Bris or SeaBright based on the 1.2mm fabric and cost. I chose to go with SeaBright even though it was about $150 more because of the reports and reviews about their service and reputation and because it has a fiberglass transom over the marine plywood.
