Hydrodynamic Efficiency, Reduction in Fuel Consumption, and Emissions

Beyond its aesthetic allure, THIS IS IT prioritizes efficiency and environmental consciousness. The hull lines are meticulously optimized for enhanced hydrodynamic efficiency, leading to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and emissions. The yacht is equipped with innovative exhaust gas treatment technology (SCR – Selective Catalytic Reduction) to comply with IMO Tier III requirements, reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.

The owner’s area is a highlight, featuring a skylight with an extraordinary height of 3.3 meters, a panoramic terrace, and a special vertical garden spanning two decks, creating the illusion of a seaside villa.

Step into a realm of opulence with THIS IS IT’s interiors. Six spacious staterooms, including two ensuite VIP cabins on the main deck, two ensuite guest cabins on the lower deck, a master cabin with ensuite on the upper deck, and a playroom/guest cabin with ensuite – all meticulously designed for unparalleled comfort. The interior design draws inspiration from supercar automotive design, with aerodynamic profiles and fluid, organic lines creating invigorating yet relaxing spaces. It’s less catamaran, more floating island, with an optimized hull for hydrodynamic efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. For the owner, Tasos Papanastasiou, a self-made Cypriot, it was love at first sight, says Signe Putna, marketing specialist at The Italian Sea Group .

“The owner was originally interested in building another yacht, but when we showed him our designs for the catamaran, he pointed to it and said, “This is it!”, Putna told Robb Report during a tour of the yacht. “He found his dream boat, and in the process, the yacht’s name as well.”

The main aft deck blends seamlessly with the inside living area to create one complete space that’s open to the elements. When the weather turns bad, large floor-to-ceiling doors close it off. In the main salon, a looping backlit crystal chandelier hangs above a curved cocktail bar. Sociable zones are defined by shapes, rather than walled divides. For example, a starboard seating nook filled with a stretched sofa and oversized TV creates an indoor cinema vibe. On the other side is a formal dining area for 12 guests.

And new it is. The complex curved shape of the aluminum superstructure pushed the Italian builder to its limits. Weight control was a major factor in the engineering, especially considering the large amount of glass used in the project. A slight change in displacement could significantly impact drag, trim, and speed.

It’s the significant use of onboard glass that sets the design apart, including floor-to-ceiling windows and strategically placed skylights. Despite this, the heart of the interior feels dark and warren-like, a feeling that is mitigated with the use of lots of back lighting and LED strip lighting on the stairwells and alcoves.

One of the largest skylights sits 11 feet above the bed in the light-filled master suite. The king-sized bed is positioned in the middle of the room, facing out to sea. A private balcony forward with glass balustrades keeps lines of sight clear. The vertical garden spans two decks, mimicking the ambiance of a coastal villa. Behind the bed, tucked out of sight by the headboard, is a desk, a separate vanity station, and a mirrored walk-in wardrobe.

The spaceship theme continues in the master bathroom design, which has a large chequerboard skylight, and the oversized galley equipped with polarized glass for when the yacht is used to host culinary demonstrations and show cooking.

A further five guest cabins, each with en suites, mean This Is It sleeps a total of 12 guests. There is also accommodations for a crew of 12, along with a day head on every level.

The interior, penned by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of the Italian Sea Group, features leather, Alcantara suede, oak, and gray marble inserts. Silk panels line the walls. The ceilings are painted in metallic finishes, including bronze, platinum, and gold. The yacht is characterized by a mix of “sinuous shapes” and “decisive geometric cuts,” according to the shipyard, and that is perhaps an understatement.

“Naturally, what applies to external lines also applies to interior styling,” says Campanino. “Smooth, cocooning and curvilinear are perfect words to describe the interior of the yacht, plus a touch of pure luxury due to the use of sophisticated and precious materials.”

This is It comes into its own by night. Neon blue lights trace the arch of the superstructure, while white downlights and LED strip lights accentuate every line.

Following the Monaco Yacht Show, This Is It , sold and project managed by IYC, returned to the shipyard for final touchups. After delivery early next year, it will be available to charter via IYC, becoming the world’s largest charter catamaran.

Italian builder Tecnomar has had a string of interesting launches in the last two years, including the very popular Lamborghini 63 by Tecnomar , which showed that the Italian brand can build large and small yachts.

Leather and Alcantara, oak and teak, dialogue with the sinuous shapes, marked by bold geometric cuts and grey marble inserts. The dominant mood is dynamic, in motion, enveloping and sporty, yet the colour palette is also elegant and refined, in which light tones of beige and platinum grey prevail. The Italian Sea Group have announced the launch of their brand-new catamaran THIS IS IT under the Tecnomar brand. This unique and exceptional 43.5 m (142’7″) superyacht will make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show later this month and is characterised by her unique and bold silhouette.

The exterior is sinuous and soft and features 600sqm of glass, challenging the perception of what is possible using conventional construction processes. This amount of glass needed careful weight management and the complex profile pushed the limits the aluminium’s capabilities.  Ultimately the optimised shape enhances the hydrodynamic efficiency, leading to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and, therefore, emissions.

The interior mirrors the futuristic exterior and presents with a unique galley featuring polarised glass enabling a subtle connection with the guest areas. Using sophisticated materials including leather and Alcantara, oak and teak plus grey marble with bronze, titanium and carbon creates a stunning and elegant contrast throughout the spaces.

Accommodation is across six suites with The spacious owner’s stateroom featuring a skylight with an 3.3m skylight, superb panoramic terrace and a unique vertical garden spanning two deck and giving the feeling of being in a seaside villa.

Tecnomar's radical catamaran This Is It joins the charter fleet

The 43.5-metre This Is It will be available for charter with IYC from April 2024. Starting at €450,000 per week, the announcement makes the Tecnomar yacht the world's largest charterable motor catamaran.

The imagery released by IYC is the first comprehensive look at This Is It since her debut this year at the Monaco Yacht Show . Designed in-house, the catamaran is characterised by radical, asymmetric lines and 600 square metres of glass panelling. Naval architecture is owed to Lateral Naval Architects .

Accommodation is for 12 guests across six cabins and 13 crew, with interiors created by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of The Italian Sea Group. Styled in futuristic shades of champagne and platinum-grey, interior imagery reveals a backlit bar with a statement, ribbon-like light fixture and a textured main saloon that sees suede, lacquer and metallic furnishings combine. 

Floor-to-ceiling doors also distinguish the main saloon, which is connected to an exterior lounge complete with a bar, game area, swimming pool, and formal dining space. The upper deck hosts a spa, fitted with a dedicated treatment area, sauna and sensorial shower. Adjacent to the spa is the yacht's "playroom", a convertible cabin that can be used to entertain children or as an additional guest room. There is also a galley with polarized glass for show cooking.

This Is It also has ample stowage space for tenders and toys, including a 5.7-metre Castoldi tender, Seabobs, a Seascooter and an e-foil.

According to BOATPro , Tecnomar has one other yacht currently under construction – the 37-metre Evo , scheduled for delivery in May 2024.

Questo yacht si articola su 4 deck in cui aree interne ed esterne si alternano fluidamente grazie al design avanguardistico caratterizzato da una silhouette morbida con vetrate a tutta altezza. Il design degli esterni, in particolar modo quello di poppa, ricorda gli esterni di una vera e propria villa, con ampi balconi e zone relax.  La zona di poppa delI’upper deck è interamente dedicata all’appartamento privato dell’armatore mentre nel main deck sono presenti due cabine VIP, due ampie aree lounge esterne (una a poppa e una a prua) e un grande salone interno. Nel lower deck si alternano comodamente zone guest e crew. Nel sun deck, infine, è ubicata un’ampia lounge con area “sunbathing” dedicata.

Futuristic catamaran THIS IS IT enters charter market following Monaco debut

Tecnomar's 43.58m(143ft) iconic catamaran charter THIS IS IT stands as a beacon of modern yacht design. In September, the Monaco Yacht Show buzzed with excitement over this silver-hulled vision, with expansive, full-height glass windows boasting nearly 6,500 square feet and an asymmetrical, sinuous interior taking cues from oceanic fauna and high-end automobiles. THIS IS IT is without a doubt this year's most captivating and conversation-provoking launch.

Whether it enraptures or divides opinion, catamaran THIS IS IT sets itself apart as a singular marvel of the seas. Its silhouette features a dramatic arch cradling a transparent facade with a private owner's balcony on the upper deck. The stern grants access to a spacious, asymmetric aft deck, a highlight of uninterrupted space, complemented by views of the central pool and sunbathing areas that stretch across the yacht's substantial 14.6m (48ft) beam.

More akin to a sovereign isle than a mere catamaran charter, THIS IS IT boasts a hull finely tuned for hydrodynamic efficiency, offering fuel conservation without compromise. According to Signe Putna, marketing expert at The Italian Sea Group, Tasos Papanastasiou, a self-made entrepreneur from Cyprus, was instantly smitten upon seeing the designs and it was a moment of revelation that christened the luxury charter yacht and set the course for Papanastasiou's dream creation.

The aft deck melds with the interior lounge, forming an open environment that can be shielded from the elements with large doors. The main salon sets the stage for social engagement, with a crystal chandelier and a curved cocktail bar as centerpieces. Varied social spaces are delineated by form rather than walls, with a starboard lounge offering a cinematic experience and a formal dining space accommodating 12 guests, making THIS IS IT an ideal choice for both family gatherings and corporate yacht charters .

The interior design, crafted by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino of the Italian Sea Group, truly stands out with its glass features, including floor-to-ceiling windows and thoughtfully positioned skylights. Despite the openness, the interior maintains a cozy, intimate ambiance, thanks to clever backlighting and LED accents in key areas.

The yacht's upper deck reveals a spa complete with a treatment area, sauna, and sensory shower, neighboring a convertible children's playroom. The interior is adorned with leather, Alcantara suede, oak, marble, and silk wall panels, under metallic-painted ceilings. The design language intertwines fluid shapes with bold geometric lines, truly an understated symphony of style.

The master suite is a sanctuary of light, crowned with an 11-foot skylight above a centrally placed king-sized bed, offering sea views and a private balcony. A vertical garden enhances the coastal villa atmosphere, while the master bathroom and galley boast space-age designs, the latter ready for culinary showcases.

Accommodations include five additional guest cabins with en suites, allowing for 12 guests, alongside quarters for a crew of 12 and conveniently located day heads on each level.
