Annual White Marlin Open:

The White Marlin Open is the world's largest fishing tournament founded in 1974 and has been a major highlights of the summer season in Ocean City Maryland. This fishing event takes place in August every year and with prize money exceeding $1 million, it attracts more than 300 anglers every year. The event is exciting for the spectators as well as they root for their favourite angler and then attend the weigh-in of the day's catches in the evening. The weigh-in is open to the public and thousands cram into Harbour Island Marina for a chance to see a million dollar fish raised at the scale.

Annual Marlin Club Canyon Kick-Off:

The Ocean City Mdrlin Club Canyon Kick-Off, held each year on or around the Fourth of July weekend, is the first significant event of the season for the Marlin Club each year. This is a 2 of 3 day event. While it is open to all anglers, entry for the tournament is free to OCMC Boat Members. This is an offshore event with prizes for Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Billfish Releases. Cash prizes are awarded for first, second and third place in the heaviest fish division. The weigh-in are the major crowd pullers as thousands cheer while the cash prizes change hands at the tip of a scale.

Annual MSSA Tuna-Ment:

The Maryland Saltwater Sports fishing Association holds the official offshore Annual Tuna-Ment Tournament benefiting the MSSA and their mission to protect the rights of sport fishermen, and enhance the fisheries' resources. As the name suggests, tuna is the targeted game for this event and more than 50 boats participate every year. The Tuna-ment is known for its laid back attitude and convenience with 4 Mid-Atlantic weigh stations – Indian River, Sunset Marina in West, Ocean City and Chincoteague. Dolphins are also allowed in special categories and there are additional skill levels for tuna and dolphin.

Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin:

The Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin tournament is the "Super Bowl" of fishing because of the way winner's feel after capturing the event. Hundreds of anglers participate, representing the best marlin fishermen in the world. Though the prize money of almost a million dollars is tempting, that is not the main reason why anglers from all of the world participate – they participate for the bragging rights that comes with a Big Rock victory. For the last 16 years, the competition has topped $1 million and continues to grow with increased sponsorship and participation.

The Sea Rocket staff were awesome! They made sure every time there was a dolphin sighting, they slowed down and waited and let us take pictures and let us know they were keeping their eyes out as well for them all along the ocean. They were friendly staff and even asked if we wanted group photos! Definitely would recommend this ride to anyone!

This was my wife's first parasailing, and Captain Howard and Chad reassured her of their experience, which calmed her, resulting in a great adventure for the entire family. We had a blast, and it was all thanks to these two guys. It was totally worth the cost and is something we will cherish.

We booked this tour for our family of 5, we had a 5 year old with us first time parasailing. It was a very fun and safe experience for us. Had a wonderful time parasailing with Searocket, Tony was a perfect guide.

My mom, myself and my 4.5 yo took the dolphin tour and weren't disappointed! The ride was fun, good music, fun staff and we saw dolphins. The mate "skinny legs" was nice enough to take a WONDERFUL family photo on board at no additional charge. Definitely recommend the sea rocket and will be back in future visits.

We decided to do the Searocket out into the ocean. It was an awesome ride and experience for the whole family. The entire crew and staff were very friendly and outgoing. It was so much fun and a great time. Absolutely loved it!

We decided to take a vacation to Ocean City. We found the Sea Rocket and went to check it out. While waiting for our turn Audra told us all about Parasailing, we thought about doing this all night. Well we got brave enough to go back and try it! Audra and the guys were very awesome and we are so happy we tried it! We would definitely come and do it again!!! Thank you all for the great time.

We had an excellent ride on a beautiful day. Very fun and friendly staff that made our ride memorable. The mate even took our picture for us. Even those we did not see the dolphins all the other sights were excellent. We would go again soon.

This was our 2nd visit to OCMD and the Sea Rocket boat tour. Both times was a great experience and we got to see dolphins both times. Crew was friendly and funny and they played a good variety of music. My 5 year old daughter loves the boat ride and it will be a return visit for us on future vacations. Boat travels from the bay up to the Carousel Hotel and back.

We decided to go on the last ride of the day and we had a great time! Kevin, Matt and Tony were awesome and made sure everyone was having fun. We will definitely be back!

Was on a family vacation and decided to purchase tickets for the sea rocket after watching it speed up and down the ocean close to our hotel. Had a great time and plan on going back in September for parasailing.

The weather wasn't cooperative and I picked a cooler day to ride, but the Captain and Mate were great. Informative and funny! They took extra care to get my kids life jackets! Thanks guys! Definitely will go back for some Parasailing!

OCEAN CITY, MD - Renting out floating houses is prohibited in Ocean City. Monday night, the town council voted on an ordinance that would prohibit the commercial use of houseboats, specifically targeting a houseboat located in downtown Ocean City.

The houseboat is intended for short-term rentals.

The town argues that the move is essential for health and safety reasons, while the owner believes it is an overreach.

"It's something cool, new, and innovative for Ocean City. Guests love it," said Will Wangel, CEO of Sea Rocket Water Adventures. He goes on to say, "I just find it pretty insane that the town is throwing a fit over one houseboat." 

Wangel asserts that the houseboat is essentially the same as a yacht and claims the town lacks jurisdiction over his vessel.

"That's a registered commercial passenger vessel in state waters in Maryland. The state does not believe the city has any jurisdiction," Wangel added.

Some boaters in the area agree with Wangel, expressing support for the floating home.

"I don't see a lot of negatives to it, other than the fact that it brings a lot of rental availability down here to downtown Ocean City, and I think it would be a great opportunity to bring more tourism to this area," said Nick Odachowski, a local boater.

Others say they would not mind it, but hope it would be cleaned regularly. 

"To me, it's just like staying on your yacht, but the fact that it wouldn't move means if it stays in one location, growing algae, then it would be a problem," noted boater Scott Ronzitti.
