Geoffrey holds a Master’s degree in 500gt and has over 12 years’ experience in the sector. He spent many years cruising the Mediterranean on charter yachts. He has acquired considerable skills in boat handling, a vast knowledge of itineraries of interest to his clients and a detailed understanding of the luxury yacht industry.

Mia, 37, is an accomplished professional in the yachting industry. Originally from Belgrade, Serbia, she has devoted over 15 years of her life to this exciting career. Her name is Therese, and she is a 22-year-old. This summer season will be her first full season in the yachting industry, and she hopes there will be many more to come. The headquarters of Sanlorenzo are in Ameglia in the Italian province of La Spezia . Sanlorenzo specialises in the design and construction of a broad range of motor yachts and pleasure boats with LOAs ranging from 19 metres up to more than 50 metres. This distinguished Italian company boasts of a long list of satisfied customers. Sanlorenzo handles each of the yacht design and construction projects as a unique endeavour and high value challenge requiring the highest level of commitment and attention. SanLorenzo in Perspective

SanLorenzo started out producing wooden pleasure boats and vessels. It was in 1985, whilst investing on the expansion of its core business, that the company diversified its operations and included in its core business the design and construction of high-performance luxury yachts and superyachts made out of fibreglass material. 

The Ameglia facility is primarily used by the company for the design and construction of Sanlorenzo superyachts and motoryachts made out of fibreglass. The shipyard can handle various configurations and lengths up to 33 metres. On the other hand, the production facility of SanLorenzo in Viareggio handles the construction and testing of wide range of high-performance luxury yachts and superyachts, particularly those with semi-displacement hulls. This facility also handles semi-custom and custom yacht design and construction projects of the company.

Major Milestones and High Profile Projects by SanLorenzo

SanLorenzo expanded the production capacity and upgraded the capability of its Ameglia facility. This major expansion and upgrading program by this distinguished yacht builder increased its production capacity and capabilities that include semi-displacement vessels and pleasure boats. The construction capabilities of the facility are for semi-displacement and planing hulls with lengths of up to 50 metres. 

From the expanded and upgraded production facility, SanLorenzo can now handle more complex projects including the design and construction of motoryachts and superyachts with LOAs ranging from 82 feet up to 108 feet.

Two New Ways to Charter a Sanlorenzo

Two decidedly different builds from the Sanlorenzo shipyard in Italy have entered the charter market, one booking through IYC and the other listed with Westport Yachts charter management.

The newer of the two yachts is the 145-foot La La Land , a 2023 build that’s now part of the IYC charter fleet. It’s a Lissoni Limited Edition Sanlorenzo X-Space whose owner invested about $3.3 million in options to further enhance the cruising experience.

Accommodations aboard La La Land are for 12 guests in five staterooms—including an owner’s deck with a sky lounge, an alfresco lounge with a freestanding fire pit, a private pantry, an office, a walk-in closet and a head built with a heated sole and steam shower. The master stateroom also has direct access to one of two outdoor hydro massage pools that are on board.

Additional features aboard La La Land include two foldout platforms, a gymnasium, a hammam and a massage room.

The lowest weekly base rate to charter La La Land is about $317,500, with inquiries being accepted for the East and West Mediterranean through September 2024. For winter 2024-25, La La Land is expected to charter in the Caribbean.

Also now chartering is the 108-foot Sanlorenzo Daddy , which is new to the Westport Yachts fleet in the Bahamas this winter.

Daddy is a 2008 build. The charter agent says an extensive 2023 refit has left the yacht presenting in like-new condition. Daddy accommodates eight guests in four staterooms, including a belowdecks amidships master with a king-size berth, espresso machine and fridge. The VIP stateroom is forward with a queen-size berth.

Gathering areas for all eight guests include aft-deck dining, foredeck lounging, and flybridge entertaining with dining, a bar and barbecues. The retractable sunroof has a removable enclosure for extra protection from the elements as needed.

Daddy is also kitted-out for fun in the sun in the Bahamas. The yacht charters with two tenders: a 30-foot Jupiter powered by twin 300-horsepower Yamaha engines, and a 14-foot Walker Bay Venture with a 70-horsepower Yamaha. Watertoys include a two-seat PWC, inflatable paddleboards, tow toys and snorkeling gear.

The lowest weekly base rate to charter Daddy is $65,000. The owner is reportedly eager to secure holiday bookings this winter at a weekly base rate of $70,000, with a one-week holiday minimum.

Are tenders important for yacht charter in the Bahamas? Yes, if you want to make the most of water sports. The area is known for being shallow, which means the mothership can’t get into some areas that a good set of tenders can access for fishing, snorkeling and other activities.

What is the history of Sanlorenzo yachts?

Sanlorenzo was established in 1958 by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia in Limite sull’Arno, near Florence Italy. In 1972, the shipyard was taken over by Giovanni Jannetti, who established the shipyard’s facilities in Viareggio, Italy. At this time, the yacht builder was called Cantierni Navli San Lorenzo. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Explore the Mediterranean with Simpson Yacht Charter This Summer on a Sanlorenzo Yacht

With crystal blue waters, sun-baked coastlines and countries rich in history, ‘The Med’ is a popular charter destination for obvious reasons. Now the Paris Olympics is adding further interest to the area, and the Hong Kong-based charter operation steps in with new elevated itineraries in the region.

Stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east all the way to Asia, and with a coastline of almost 30,000 miles, the Mediterranean contains both beautiful beaches and historic sites to explore.

With Paris at most a two-hour plane ride from many of the iconic destinations dotting the region, it’s easier than ever to enjoy a slow getaway on the rolling Mediterranean waves before – or after – the thrills and excitements of the world’s best-known sporting event.

Simpson Yacht Charter has curated special itineraries to coincide with The Olympic Games, can take care of flights to and from the French Capital and advises on embarkation and debarkation points.

Summer deals are available on five Sanlorenzo yachts, each with an array of water toys, from wakeboards to snorkel sets and seabobs for added summer fun. Included in the offer are trips aboard the Sanlorenzo SD118  Unique S , the SD112  Anything Goes V , the SD90  Akira , the SL86  Queen Martina , and the SX88 Estia yachts.

One new destination includes tours of glitzy Monaco and the French Riviera, which begins at Nice, takes in Îles de Lerins near Cannes, St. Tropez and ends in Monaco’s Monte Carlo Beach.

A roundtrip option sets sail at Split in Croatia, makes island stops to view Roman and Venetian architecture, and islet sea stops for watersports, before heading back to Split – and a flight into Paris.

Another sails from Amalfi, through many of the location’s topspots, to Sicily’s Aeolian Islands. This itinerary sets sail at the Bay of Naples’ Marina di Stabia, and then ventures to Sorrento and star-studded Capri, including a stop at the spectacular sea cave Blue Grotto, before entering protected waters to sail to Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and Panarea.

Each exciting trip includes plenty of sightseeing, and dining onshore at local restaurants, or on-board with private chefs.

With accommodation for 10 guests across five staterooms and six crew, the semi-displacement yacht, Sanlorenzo SD118  Unique S , is a sophisticated choice for a summer sailing with family and friends. Waterskis, skis, Seabob, kayaks and paddle boards offer exciting ways to explore the region’s world-famous coastlines up close.

Meanwhile on the Sanlorenzo SD112  Anything Goes V , two tenders and a 4.58m/15′ Castoldi Inboard are available to transport guests to cove or shore. They return to a well-appointed yacht with room to accommodate 10 guests in five plush staterooms. A guest favourite on this yacht is to recline and take in the sweeping vistas from the sundeck Jacuzzi, perhaps with a negroni in hand when sailing along the Amalfi coast.

Aboard the Sanlorenzo SD90  Akira , a brand-new yacht for charter, a re-designed bow area, main deck and owner’s cabins now provide an extra level of comfort on the water. 

Up to eight guests in four ensuite cabins can enjoy a summer getaway on the  Akira . Toys include a wakeboard, waterski, paddle board, Fliteboard, Seabob and use of a drone that can be used to record the trip from new angles.

Officina Italiana Design have imbued the SL86  Queen Martina  with elegance and luxury. With a spacious flybridge – with 41 sqm extension and 9 sqm for sunbathing – and seamless indoor-outdoor connection, the stately yacht holds a resort-like character. Accommodating up to eight guests in four cabins, it’s an ideal option for family voyages.

The Sanlorenzo SX88  Estia  is a smart choice for those venturing to Italy. Crewed charters begin in Liguria and Tuscany and are available along the Italian Riviera, Corsica, Sardinia, Gulf of Naples, and the Amalfi Coast, as well as the Aeolians, Sicily, and Egadi Islands in southern Italy.

Delivered in 2022, the SX88 offers a professional three-person crew with a captain, deckhand and chef/hostess. A fast jet tender, jet ski, waterskis, two stand-up paddleboards, and more offer guests the opportunity to splash in Italian waves.
