Make:Lagoon
Model:35 CCC
Length:35
Builder:TPI Composite Marine Division for Jeanneau Lagoon (Rhode Island, USA)
Designer:Morrelli & Melvin
Construction:The Lagoon 35 CCC is the first multihull in the world to have a hull constructed utilizing the SCRIMP infusion method of lamination. The resulting balsa-cored composite offers the highest strength-to-weight ratio possible outside of an autoclave process. The one-piece hull incorporates two high-lift keels, rigid enough to support the hull for soft grounding. Integral marine grade ply bulkheads are bonded with wide glass cloth tapes providing torsional stiffness to the whole structure. The molded deck is also balsa-cored except in high stress areas where dense core is used.

Mfg Accommodations:The use of teak flooring, bulkheads and accents in combination with light toned pressure laminates and molded liners make the Lagoon 35 CCC very bright and delightful down below. Four transom steps lead to the deck and a large cockpit offering seating for eight comfortably. Aluminum mast and boom with internal halyards. All sail controls lead to three cockpit-mounted, self-tailing winches for ease of single handling. The Lagoon 35 CCC offers two queen-size berths in aft cabins. The athwartship-mounted berths are situated to provide comfortable sitting height headroom. The main cabin houses a galley and dinette area. The two-piece dining table and L-shaped seat offer flexibility and optional extra sleeping. The galley houses an icebox, a two-burner stove with oven, large sink with integral drain board and ample storage space. The molded one-piece liner incorporates a vanity sink, a manual marine toilet and a large shower area. A second optional head can be installed in the forward port hull. Each cabin-living area has a means of allowing air in and out plus adding light to the interior spaces.

Jeanneau lagoon 35 ccc review.

cherokee 35 catamaran

What does Jeanneau want the world to think with the acronym of “CCC” In the title? It’s the Coastal Cruising Catamaran. That’s it. Jeanneau was so transparent about the capabilities of their new cat, that they put it in the title. Thinking about racing to Bermuda? Look elsewhere. Designed by notorious sailing and design guru’s, Gino Morrelli and Pete Melvin (America’s Cup & Olympics), they chose performance over comfort.

To understand the boat, I really needed a quick history lesson on Jeanneau’s production timeline. In 1984 they started production of their first generation Lagoon boats.…

Sailcraft Ltd.

Founded by Reg White MBE, along with designer Rodney March and first began building high performance sailing dinghies. Some time later a partnership was formed with designer Rod Macalpine-Downie that resulted in a series of fiberglass cruising catamarans. White and March were also responsible for the International TORNADO class which won the 1967 international “B” class trials and was later selected as the 2 man racing catamaran for the Olympics. TORNADO’s were first built of plywood but fiberglass construction was soon adopted.

, etc…).

I've been lurking all over the interwebs, digging up information. I'm in information overload.

Due to constraints, I am definitely trying to stay well below 100k. Most likely 50k would be it and still allow for outfitting and prep.

The crew would be me, the missus, and the 10 year old daughter. We've been lake sailing for years now, and are really yearning for that "something more".

How small is too small. I can definitely say 30' is our personal minimum.
Would we be better off in a ?
Can we realistically expect to safely cross the pacific in anything small enough to easily crew ourselves.
How about for the and ourselves?

I can see I am rambling now. Any thoughtful input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Boat: Catalac 12M (sold)
handed in January, and is preparing to sail back across the Atlantic handed again.

He had some interesting experiences, surfing at 20 knots etc. drogues.

John has a blog going at and is presently between here and Mayaguana. Left this morning, under sail, with the only on the boat a 6 hp . Would you sail a 30 ft. back and forth across the Atlantic alone with a six hp Tohatsu as your total backup? Here's a guy who's doing it.

Good on the blog, too.

And no, I don't have anything to do with it other than being a fan.

Still looking. This is in its infancy though.

Canibul: That John fellow is hands down the best read Ive seen in a while. Talk about a "shoestring budget"!!! I hang my in shame. I'm bookmarking that one.
