International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2023 -shortlisted logo

The anticipation is building as the 2023 International Yacht and Aviation Awards (IYAA), announce their shortlisted entries and prepare to open online voting for the winners in each category. The IYAA recognizes the best designs in categories that encompass all aspects of yacht and aviation designs and concepts. As a company that was shortlisted in 2021 and went on to win the top spot in the category for “ Private Aviation: Private Jet Design – Concept” , Camber Aviation is excited to participate again this year, especially given the high calibre of the other entries.

Now in its 13 th year, the International Yacht & Aviation Awards are established as a key event in the super yacht and private jet design calendar. However, what sets these awards apart is their unwavering focus on design. While other events may share similarities, none are specifically dedicated to recognizing the crucial design aspects of the yacht and aviation industries.

Hosted by Design et al – a leading interior design magazine, and Luxe et al, a prominent magazine in yacht and aviation design, the awards are a crucial platform for designers. This event not only provides them with the opportunity to showcase their work and receive recognition for their commitment to design innovation but also to establish connections with other professionals in the industry. This in turn inspires others to explore new possibilities and technologies that drive the entire industry forward.

As the 2023 edition of the IYAA approaches, excitement within the industry is palpable. The awards showcase ground-breaking concepts and inspire designers to push the boundaries of what is possible in this ever-evolving industry.  As such, Camber Aviation Management and leading designer Alexander Craker have collaborated on their submission this year: the innovative “LongTail” design for consideration in the “Private Jet Design – Concept” category.

The LongTail design concept, aims to create an iconic design for a pre-owned Boeing Business Jet – a Max 7, by combining the best aspects of the Riva Aquarama and the Rolls Royce Boat Tail. Unlike the more conventional types of private jet interiors that seek to disguise the cabin shape and make a passenger forget they are travelling, the LongTail concept embraces the rarefied experience of flying privately, making it an integral part of the design. The layout is about creating a luxurious, spacious, and comfortable environment that is designed to make the journey as enjoyable as the destination.

The LongTail design relies heavily on the use of natural materials including bespoke leathers, hardwoods, and polished metals to create a clean, minimalist design that feels “ship-shape,” evoking the feelings of freedom and beckoning adventure that one experiences while cruising on a luxury motorboat or in a one-of-a-kind cabriolet. The cabin is arranged to maximize natural light and provides a sense of fluidity and movement, much like the open sea. The main attraction of the cabin is a state-of-the-art bar, exquisitely crafted in silver and gold, intended to be the central point of social interaction during the flight. It emerges from the rear of the day bed, forming a distinctive private bar area that includes stylish bar stools. To maximize space, the bar can be stored away discreetly and effortlessly, lifted and lowered by electric drives in a silent, elegant manner. While the bar is stowed, a 4K monitor can be raised in its place.

Passenger comfort is also a top priority in the design, with features such as ergonomic seating, soundproofing, and advanced climate control systems being incorporated throughout the cabin. Additionally, the minimalist layout and clean lines make the design much lighter than a more traditional layout, while the lightweight cabin ensures an increased range and improved performance over conventional cabin designs.

The LongTail represents Alexander Craker’s and Camber’s innovative spirit and involved a multi-stage design process that included research, brainstorming, sketching, and refining. In addition to Camber Aviation Management and Alexander Craker’s Longtail design, there are several other exciting entries at the Awards in categories including Concept Yachts, Yacht Interior Design, Private Aviation, Commercial Aviation, and Product Design.

One of the entries in the Motor Yacht Over 60 Metres category is MY “Project X” by Massari Design in collaboration with Golden Yachts Ltd . The yacht boasts exceptional external lines complemented by an equally impressive interior.

Conrad Shipyard’s superyacht project “C144 Ace”, designed in collaboration with m2atelier, is shortlisted for the Interior Design Award (Over 40 Metres) category. The yacht’s design concept aims to challenge traditional rigidity and codes of typical yachts by applying contemporary living concepts to the boat space.

In Private Aviation, Flexjet has partnered with Bentley Motors UK to create a luxurious private jet called Project Bacalar . The Gulfstream G650ER jet has been customized to showcase the exquisite design and style that Bentley is known for, and Flexjet is shortlisted for the Interior Design/VIP Completions Award category.

At the cutting edge of design concepts, Van Geest Design and Rob Doyle Design have unveiled a revolutionary yacht design concept called Domus. The sailing trimaran offers an interior volume equivalent to a 60-meter motor yacht, and the designers have incorporated the concept of a single-story house built around an atrium to create an airy, open atmosphere on board. The design is competing in the Concept Under 40 Metres category.

And in Commercial Aviation, Adient Aerospace’s Altitude project aimed to improve the narrow-body business class seating experience due to the increasing use of smaller planes for long-haul flights, and as a result, it has been nominated for the Cabin Design Award in the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023.

And the listed entries are just a small sample of some of the original approaches pioneered by the nominees shortlisted in their categories. This is particularly exciting for enthusiasts as one of the unique aspects of the IYAA is the opportunity for anyone with an interest in design or aviation or yachting to participate in the voting process.  Once the voting opens on May 10 th , all website visitors will have the opportunity to see detailed descriptions and images of the nominated designs and vote on their favourites in each category, in contrast to many competitions where   the winners are selected by a small group of industry experts. By opening the voting up in this manner, the International Yacht and Aviation Awards reach a much wider audience to ensure that the winning designs stand on their own merit, and possess a global aesthetic appeal that transcends industry and reputation.

In addition, the open voting allows readers and followers of design et al to be among the first to discover ground-breaking designs and innovations that may not otherwise be readily available to the general public. And by engaging enthusiasts in the selection process, the IYAA fosters a sense of community and shared excitement about the future of yacht and aviation design.

By incorporating creative methods of engaging their audience, the IYAA’s influence extends beyond the design community, impacting the broader yacht and aviation industries as well. By recognizing and promoting creative design concepts, the awards have a ripple effect on the development of new technologies and materials that ultimately benefit the entire industry. This progress creates a more diverse and vibrant market for luxury transportation, offering consumers a wider array of choices and spurring further growth in the sector.

Furthermore, the IYAA serves as an educational platform for the design community, allowing industry professionals to learn from the successes and innovations of their peers. Through the sharing of ideas, concepts, and technologies, the awards contribute to a collective advancement in design that benefits the entire industry whilst inspiring young designers to take their first steps in the industry. By fostering an environment of collaboration and learning, the IYAA ensures that designers continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in yacht and aviation design.

This long-standing tradition of fostering growth and development within the industry, makes the International Yacht and Aviation Awards stand out in a crowded industry, inspiring designers to explore new possibilities and challenge the boundaries of design. With each passing year, the IYAA continues to raise the bar for what is possible in yacht and aviation design, setting new benchmarks for excellence and innovation.

With only a couple of weeks until voting opens, the shortlisted nominees will be eagerly waiting to see how their designs are received across a wide audience.  Having the opportunity to submit visionary concepts in an event that celebrates exceptional talent and imagination is the very essence innovation that defines the superyacht and private jet industries.  As such, the awards ceremony in Venice will undoubtedly be a memorable event, bringing together designers, professionals, potential clients and even enthusiasts to recognize the accomplishments of the yacht and aviation design community.

For entrants like Camber Aviation Management and Alexander Craker, submitting their “Longtail” design concept to the awards represents not only an opportunity to showcase their innovative approach to private jet interiors but also to gain valuable feedback and insight from industry professionals and enthusiasts alike, as well as being motivated and inspired by competing designs. In addition, the experience of participating in the IYAA can lead to new opportunities and collaborations, helping to shape the future of yacht and aviation design.

By honouring the best in design, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainability, the awards play a crucial role in shaping the future of yacht and aviation design for years to come. The 2023 edition of the IYAA is sure to be another exciting and inspiring event, showcasing the incredible talent and passion that exists within the design community.

Unique 79: Shortlisted for International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2023!

  • April 30, 2023

We are excited to announce that the Unique 79 project has been shortlisted in the International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2023 by design et al! This project, designed by SkyStyle and visualized by KiPcreating, is a set of renderings that embody the very essence of ultra-luxury, sportiness, and livability.

The design of Unique 79 was meant to be simply “unforgettable”, and it achieves just that with its strong identity, outstanding proportions, and a dominant-looking blade-shaped vertical bow that “cuts” the water mass perfectly. Despite its super-sporty appearance, the yacht offers generous spaces and the best possible amenities for its 12 guests and 18/20 crew members, including a comfortable bar and pool area, a 12-seat theater, a gym, a sauna, and a floating beach club.

international yacht & aviation awards 2023

One of the key aspects of this project is the yacht’s unique upper line from the sky lounge to the sharp vertical bow. This blade-cutting bow style and essential front shell protect the private front livable spaces, and the artistic and curvy cut at the rear fully opens up to allow guests to enjoy the best possible social life at the stern. It sets the yacht apart with a strong identity and minimal style resources.

The success of this design is due to the team’s pursuit of perfection, attention to detail, and willingness to push boundaries. Unique 79 seeks a perfect balance between rational and emotional values without compromises, resulting in a yacht that looks visually stunning and functions flawlessly.

At KiPcreating, we are proud to have collaborated with SkyStyle on this project and are thrilled to be shortlisted for the International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2023. The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 9th June 2023, in Venice, and we cannot wait to see how Unique 79 fares. Congratulations to SkyStyle and our team at KiPcreating on this outstanding achievement.

international yacht & aviation awards 2023

Navalt has been shortlisted for The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023. The award, now in its 13th year of successful running is one of the most prestigious and most significant achievements in the yacht and aviation industry. Hosted by the interior design magazine Design et al and the leading yacht and aviation magazine Luxe et al, the award aims to recognize the true creativity behind distinctive and aesthetic designs that stand out in the yacht and aviation industries.

Navalt’s Viridian is a 120-meter all-electric luxury catamaran superyacht and our first entry into the International Yacht and Aviation Awards. An enchanting nod to nature’s unparallel beauty, the Yacht’s design is inspired by the shape of a peacock feather taking its root from India’s national bird. The Viridian superyacht proudly heralds a flawless fusion of elegance, luxury, and style. Still, it is definite to marvel as it originates from the cultural and traditional roots of India as a nation.

The name Viridian means bluish-green and evokes the color of the peacock feather, doing justice to the design inspiration. From the first step on board, the attention to detail is palpable. The luxurious interiors and modern amenities are carefully designed to cater to discerning guests. The yacht is a perfect fusion of different colors, traditions, and cultures, binding them together in an elegant and harmonious manner. From the front view, Viridian is the quintessential superyacht, with its majestic size and grandeur. However, its eco-friendly technology and peacock feather design sets it apart from any other luxury yacht in the world. It is truly the ultimate example of luxury, innovation, and sustainability. One can experience the thrill of cruising through the water silently, with only the sounds of the waves and the gentle breeze to accompany you. The design integrates into the wider environment as the Viridian lets you relax on the luxurious deck and take in the breathtaking views around you.

Vote for Conrad Shipyard’s Flagship ACE in Three Categories at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023

We are thrilled to announce that Conrad’s flagship superyacht ACE has been nominated in three categories at the prestigious International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023. The vessel was shortlisted in the Motor Yacht over 40m, Interior Design Award over 40m and IYA Bathroom categories.

The chance to vote for ACE until June 7.

The very first pure custom superyacht for an experienced Swiss owner, ACE was launched in October 2022 at Conrad shipyard, in Poland becoming the largest motor yacht in the company and Poland’s history. Designed by Reymond Langton Design , with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design and interior decor created by M2 Atelier , she has been recognized as one of the most spectacular launches of the season.

Putting fine design and excellent craftsmanship in the spotlight, the Yacht & Aviation Awards recognize and reward the best creations and most innovative concepts in the aircraft and boating industry. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held in Venice on June 9.

We encourage everyone to cast a vote for ACE in all categories and show support for the exceptional work of Conrad Shipyard. The unique part of the voting process is that votes must be cast in each category, not just for selected projects.

By Nina Done   23 May 2023

The 18th edition of the World Superyacht Awards kicked off with cocktails in Turkey ’s vibrant capital, Istanbul over the weekend, and saw an impressive selection of charter yachts win a coveted Neptune trophy during the exclusive prize-giving ceremony.

The annual black-tie gala dinner event celebrates the world’s finest superyachts of the year, recognising and rewarding ingenuity and craftsmanship in the design, engineering and construction of the luxury yachts.

Using a secret ballot system by an independent judging panel made up of experienced superyacht owners, the World Superyacht Awards are the only peer-reviewed yachting awards in the world.

international yacht & aviation awards 2023

Hosted at the elegant Mandarin Oriental along the glittering shoreline of the Bosphorus, the elite of the superyacht world, owners and industry leaders gathered to celebrate this year’s event where 15 Neptunes were up for grabs, including the coveted Motor Yacht of the Year and Sailing Yacht of the Year awards.

In an event that saw 49 nominees fight it out across 15 categories, charter yachts were awarded trophies in 7 of the categories. Here are the charter yachts that picked up a trophy at this year’s World Superyacht Awards;

Winner: Motor Yacht of the Year

Charter yacht KENSHO

Scooping the top award of the evening, the striking 75m (247ft) Admiral superyacht KENSHÕ was declared the winner by a comfortable margin, having wowed the judges with her owner-driven attributes, charter-focused amenities, high ceilings and Zen-calm interiors. She has also been lauded for her innovative engineering, harvesting power from five variable-speed generators using a diesel-electric propulsion system.

Winner: Best rebuilt Yacht

Charter yacht MARALA

Following an extensive refit over two and a half years at the Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, UK , the 59m (193ft) classic yacht MARALA – originally built by Camper & Nicholsons in 1931 – has been lovingly restored to her former glory. Judges were impressed by the meticulous work undertaken to preserve her period features while paying homage to her fascinating storied history, such as her time in military service. Her interiors have also been given the full treatment, with a distinct nod to the avant-garde design influences of the era that can be seen throughout her interior spaces and accommodation.

Winner: Best Refitted Yacht

Charter sailing yacht ATHOS

Catching the judges’ eye, they felt the arresting 63-meter schooner yacht ATHOS merited this coveted accolade chiefly for the exceptionally high-quality work undertaken by Royal Huisman ’s refit yard in Amsterdam. Under the supervision of her original architect, Andre Hoek, ATHOS was given new booms, sails and lightweight carbon-fiber rigging, as well as an extended stern to accommodate a larger cockpit adjoining the new owner's cabin, and newly repositioned navigation station.

Winner: Sailing Yachts, 30m to 49.9m

Charter sailing yacht SORVIND

Built in Cape Town by Southern Wind Shipyard in 2022, the 35m (114ft) sailing yacht SØRVIND has already enjoyed a slew of nominations for her interior design, naval architecture and outstanding exteriors, so it might not come as a huge surprise that she scooped the Sailing Yacht gong in her category after impressing judges by her high-performance capabilities, charter-focused amenities, Scandi-cool interiors and highly practical accommodation layout.

international yacht & aviation awards 2023

Winner: Displacement Motor Yachts 499 GT and Below, 30m to 39.9m

Charter yacht UNKNOWN

Benetti 's Oasis 34M yacht UNKNOWN is certainly no unsung wallflower, garnering a raft of accolades since her arrival onto the scene in 2022 that lauded her strong connection with water and nature through her extensive glazing, harmonious indoor/outdoor areas and the Italian yard's award-winning Oasis Deck®. This is precisely what inspired the judges, who admired the yacht’s open aft beach club spanning across two decks, culminating in the infinity pool that straddles two levels, and additional sense of space created by her fold-down bulwarks – deployed for guests to enjoy while at anchor. They were also impressed by the number of alfresco relaxation and entertainment areas peppered across her deck spaces, which they considered truly remarkable for her size category and worthy of a Neptune.

Judges’ Commendation: Displacement Motor Yachts 499 GT and Below, 40m to 44.9m

Charter yacht ACE

Deemed by the judges as “an enviable all-rounder”, the 44m (145ft) yacht ACE has certainly proved a standout contender since her launch earlier this year. Built by the up-and-coming Conrad Shipyard in Poland, the judges admired the yacht for her striking good looks, convivial crew areas and technical engineering features. Already a finalist in her category at the International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2023, superyacht ACE also wowed the WSA judges with her generous proportions, reimagined deck spaces and elegant interiors.

Come together.

Charter yacht COME TOGETHER

It was inevitable that the successful pairing of the esteemed Espen Øino and Damen Yachting would end up scooping an award for their geometrically striking yachts that turn heads wherever they cruise, with the Amels 60 Limited Edition yacht COME TOGETHER proving no exception. Renowned for their next-generation design culture, Damen have been instrumental in creating yachts that not only deliver on space and luxurious comfort but also harnessing a raft of sustainable features, which ultimately won over the judges. Notable features include the seamless blend between Winch Design’s masculine interior scheme with Espen Øino’s angular and geometric exterior styling, the yacht’s innovative sundeck layout and hybrid-propulsion technology.

Charter yacht Coral Ocean

Narrowly missing out on the Best Refit Award, the judges had been so impressed by her transformative upgrade that they felt the vast 73m (238ft) superyacht CORAL OCEAN deserved one of their special awards. Suitably impressed by her charter-rich amenities, the Lürssen yacht now features an entirely rebuilt sundeck, with sumptuous loungers and a glass-bottomed spa pool adjoining a central deckhouse housing an informal dining area, bar and TV lounge, with an integrated state-of-the-art sound system creating the perfect day to night party hub. Originally designed by the award-winning London-based studio Bannenberg and Rowell, the superyacht's styling now offers a neutral scheme with subtle color accents and Art Deco-inspired geometric motifs throughout.

The Italian Sea Group, global operator in the luxury yachting industry, announces that the M/Y 75m Admiral Kenshō has won in the “Motor Yachts over 60m”, “Interior design over 40m” e”Iya Bathroom” categories at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023, the prestigious awards presented by Design et Al now in their 13th year, awards which honor architecture, style and design in Yachting, Aviation and Hôtellerie.

The award ceremony was held on Friday, June 9th in the stunning venue of the Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice in front of a jury of experts in the industry coming from all over the world.

"This new recognition is for The Italian Sea Group a 'further confirmation of the Group's increasingly high standards of design and quality - said at the withdrawal of the award Giovanni Costantino, Founder & CEO of The Italian Sea Group - Heart, passion, mind, expertise, arms, commitment and sacrifice, are the elements that characterize our wonderful team and allow the achievement of these important results. I congratulate once again our entire management and team of professionals who have collaborated in a tight and synergical way to create this wonderful yacht extremely rich in details."

Admiral Kenshō 75m in just 5 months has already been awarded at the World Superyacht Awards 2023 and Boat International's Design & Innovation Awards 2023 as:

Motor Yacht of the Year Best Motor Yacht 1’500GT and Above Best Interior Design, Motor Yachts 500GT and Above

Delivered in July 2022, Kenshō is the result of a collaboration between the owner, who personally supervised the project, French design studio Jouin Manku, which designed the interior, and Azure Yacht Design, which, together with archineers.berlin, developed the exteriors.

The technical challenges of the project were addressed with functional yet elegant solutions that have redefined the boundaries of space, distribution, and luxury, projecting the owner's personal vision into a new idea of the sailing experience. the exteriors down to the interiors, the narrative is fluid and contemporary: Teak, Marble, Onyx, Silk, Wool, Bronze, and Glass make up a heterogeneous set of materials blended together for a poetic and sophisticated result.

Consistent with The Italian Sea Group's increasingly sustainability-oriented values, Admiral Kenshō has an innovative diesel-electric propulsion system, with permanent magnet electric motors that provide high efficiency and strong power with limited volumes. The propulsion system has five variable-speed generators, all equipped with particle filter systems to optimize consumption at any speed and reduce emissions into the atmosphere.

The design has been developed with a focus on the environment in compliance with the Classification Authority's voluntary "ECO" notation; the hull has also been made by minimizing resistance through the use of azimuth propulsion and retractable stabilization wings.

Gulf Craft Yacht Manufacturers in the UAE

Gulf Craft’s Majesty 120 is Honoured at the Design et al International Yacht & Aviation Awards

Dubai, UAE; 13 June 2023 : Gulf Craft’s Majesty 120 Superyacht, has been named the winner in the ‘Motor Yacht 25-40 Metres’ category at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023.

Majesty 120_Award

The 13th edition of the International Yacht & Aviation Awards, hosted by leading interior design magazine Design et al and leading yacht and aviation design magazine Luxe et al, reward the best in design from across the globe. The International Yacht & Aviation Awards are known for their prestigious position as the only design-focused award programme within the industry, recognising the essential design elements of the yacht and aviation sectors. The programme aims to create opportunities for designers, shipyards, and private jet manufacturers to showcase their work, and to enable the global design community to see and celebrate some of the best design schemes and product innovations from around the world.

Majesty 120 - Profile (2)

Mohammed Hussein Alshaali, Chairman, Gulf Craft , said, “We are incredibly proud to have collected the Majesty 120’s third award of this year – it is a true testament to the passion, hard work and innovative thinking of our talented team at the shipyard. The International Yacht & Aviation Awards is a particularly special accolade to receive as the winners are chosen by the public who truly appreciate design and innovation in the superyacht and private jet industries. The award cements why the Majesty 120 is one of our most popular superyachts for a number of reasons – from her stunning aesthetic, light-weight performance capabilities and innovative energy saving technology.”

About the Majesty 120

Now with three award titles to her name, - Boat International Design and Innovation ‘Eco Award’, Best Naval Architecture in the Semi Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts’ and ‘semi-displacement or planing motor yachts 35m - 41.99m’ - the Majesty 120 is Gulf Craft’s best-selling superyacht.

Main Saloon

The Majesty 120 is built and manufactured at Gulf Craft’s fully integrated in-house production facility in Umm Al Quwain in the United Arab Emirates. At 123 feet (37.5 metres) long and with a beam of 27.4 ft (8.4 metres), the superyacht is made of lightweight yet sturdy composite materials – allowing the Majesty 120 to effortlessly cruise low-draft areas, drawing just 2.1 metres of water. The unique engineering methods Gulf Craft apply, combined with the robust lightweight composite hull, making her the ideal vessel for shallow draft destinations such as the Caribbean and the Greek Islands.

Majesty 120 - Profile (11)

In line with its path to sustainability pillar, Gulf Craft has been developing new ways to improve the energy efficiency of its on-board systems and minimize electrical consumption, leading to smaller generators and lower fuel consumption. The new HVAC system on the Majesty 120, together with a holistic approach to the integration of other on-board systems has been developed in collaboration with Netherlands-based MAR-IX advanced HVAC systems. The systems significantly reduce the electric load on-board, saving more than 80,000 KW per year for basic systems (like hot water heating and fresh air re-heater). The remarkably lower e-load ensures lower fuel consumption in the generators and lower shore power usage which ultimately reduces the vessel’s carbon footprint, resulting in a more sustainable operation as well as lower operational costs.

Beach Club (1)

The Majesty 120 also boasts energy efficient naval architecture along with maximised indoor-outdoor living capabilities - a feature the Majesty line is known for. Her spacious sundeck, for example, is 30 percent larger than other yachts in her class and her capacity to accommodate up to 12 guests in its six cleverly designed large staterooms – further underlines her significant volume.

In addition to the Majesty 120’s contemporary layout, the superyacht’s outstanding interior features carefully selected solid wood, leather and marble finishes and paneling. The attention-to-detail on the Majesty 120 is unrivalled; with every single fixture and fitting on board the superyacht carefully handcrafted.

The winning entry represents the culmination of an ongoing collaboration between the three companies as they aim to significantly enhance the passenger experience and revolutionise luxury travel design.
