A high quality builder has recently launched the first of a new range of power catamarans designed by Bob Oram. At 55' and capable of 30 knots from twin 375 hp John Deere engines, this is an impressively efficient powerboat. http://www.alluramarine.com.au/home Watch the videos.

Nice looking boat, she seemed to "porpoise" a bit even in the very calm conditions in the top video. The transoms seem very low if you are going to use it for game fishing, and you need to back down on a fish in any kind of sea state. The aft cockpit could get very wet! Regards Alan

I can't see any "porpoising". The boat seems to be riding very smoothly, just following the very slight swell. They did have a perfect day for powerboating though. Backing down on a fish would be a lot dryer than a mono, and they do get WET! The cockpit floor is well above the waterline (it's a cat, remember). The hull transoms might get wet, but so what? That performance out of that little power in such a big boat is very impressive. Look at the tiny wake(s) this think produces. Think about the wake a 55 foot semi-planing hull would be churning out.

Good Aussy design, I could name three in Qld. and of course there are many others in Aussy & NZ....

30 knots / (2x375)/20 = 30/37 miles per gallon of diesel. If the boat was designed to be efficient instead of carrying as much junk as possible, it could probably get 5 times this fuel efficiency (iLan voyager). So its still a tank, just a bit less so.

, with some having moulded round shoes.

I chose a Bob Oram designed kit. Duflex , motors, kick up rudders, daggerboard, extreme shoal draught. I mostly chose this design because IMO it was the best value around, and because Bob wasn't averse to some modifications to suit my height. (About 2 metres). My height, along with the cost, pretty much eliminated the Fusion from my thinking. There wasn't enough , and being moulded it would be very difficult to alter.

Also with Bob's the layout is basically a blank . up or down, your choice. 1,2,3,4 heads - up to you. Inboard or motors, you get to decide...

Are you thinking about building a kit cat?
12-03-2018, 03:22
15 mtr Cat handle it with outboards or would you go .
12-03-2018, 21:10
was around $500k.... I was told first hand that the final cost was closer to $1m by the time they made the required upgrades to make it perform well.

The basic kits appear to be pretty basic and if you want decent performance, it will cost a lot more.

on a 15 metre Oram cat with Yamaha 25's. IMO, it's not length that matters in the selection, it's . This is a 15m boat that probably weighs about 7 - 7 1/2 tonnes. There are 12 metre boats that couldn't be powered by outboards.

This guy is a very accomplished boat and , he built the boat in about a year. He did this in , and did use some of the inexpensive labour that's available there.

I wouldn't suggest that time span as being indicative though, I've worked with him, and the speed and efficiency he has are amazing.

It does show what's possible though.
13-03-2018, 00:45
designer and builder, decided on a cat for his third time . I think he built most of his boats in NZ or Aus.

kit from CKD boats in . All you need in a cruiser with good performance, for a LOT less money.

Building in Thailand is fraught with potential horrors. The only builder there who can be trusted for quality and ethics is Gunther Nutt's Seascape yard. They do beautiful , on time and in budget.
17-03-2019, 15:35
. Actually Bob suggested it for a range of reasons, so any tips on Phil's experience would be helpful. Thanking you.
18-03-2019, 00:58
whose name I won't mention.

There were issues to do with build time, build quality, big extra charges during builds, and so on. There were bitter fights, some cases, and some customers who heaps of money and wasted heaps of time.

As I posted before, Seascape are the only yard I would trust in Thailand. Besides the quality work, Gunther has been there a long time. Has a Thai , knows the and language, has the right contacts and community respect to smooth the way.

a kit to Thailand, flights to check on the build etc. would probably negate the lower labour costs......and it's a long sail home from Thailand to wherever.

Until 1962, the flag’s emblems, the sun, and the crescent moon had human faces which signify the unity of the country. The national flower and bird, rhododendron and Danfe respectively, the flag was a plumed crown worn by the kings and crossed Kukhris carried by the Gurkhas for their bravery. As an Indian, I am proud of my country’s rich history and traditions, and I am confident that India will continue to shine on the global stage. My country, India, will always be my pride.

essay on my country Nepal

Essay on My Country Nepal For Students

If there is a country’s flag that stands out among all other countries it is the flag of Nepal . Our flag is very unique and cannot be compared to other countries’ flags due to its shape. It also has a hidden meaning behind it which represents the country’s peace-loving and friendly nature, bravery, and immortal history.

My country Nepal is situated between two countries, India and China. Although it is sandwiched between international powers, conflicts have not happened between any, and peace remains. Nepal is a country of various castes and cultures. In other words, it is like a beautiful garden of flowers with people of different ethnicities and backgrounds.

My country Nepal is not only unique for its flag but also its geographical terrain, the variety of castes and cultures you can find, and the rich history of it. It is the land of various great places and important figures that people know far and wide. The temperature here spans from cool to hot and is a heaven for residing in.

There are about 126 castes in Nepal each with its own rich history and culture which makes Nepal a rich place for culture. Some dating back to the millenniums. Not only that, our country is very rich in its geographical terrain. From the lowest point of just 70 Meters from sea level to the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest (8848.86 meters) , we have temperature scales that vary from place to place. It is divided into three regions, Terai, Hilly, and Himalayas each according to their altitude and geographical differences.

Himalayan regions have high and mighty Himalayas that are breathtaking to look at. Out of the world’s top 10 highest peaks, 8 of them fall in my country. It is already a great pride to have come from such a country. The diverse flora and fauna, beautiful landscapes, lush and green jungles, historical and religious places in Nepal are enough to gather the attention of foreigners and locals too. People from all over the world pay thousands of dollars just to see our country’s snow-capped mountains, rivers, cliffs, waterfalls, other beautiful landscapes, the rich flora and fauna, and sites of great religious and historical importance. It just doesn’t end there.

📌 Read –   Essay on the Importance of English Language

Our country ranks in the top 5 for the richest in water resources. With just a small country with an area of 1,47,181 sq kilometers, it has the potential to fuel hydropower worth 2% of the entire world. It may look small in number but taking our country’s small area in context, it is a potential incomparable to all. The Terai region holds fertile land and smooth flowing waters that are excellent for farming and cultivating.

Nepal is also known as an agricultural country where 60% of the people here follow agriculture as their work. Our country also has huge historical importance. Gautama Buddha the founder and preacher of Buddhism which is practiced worldwide was also born in Nepal. Buddhism is known to preach peace and non-violence and to love everyone. King Janak is also an important figure who holds great importance to communities in Nepal.

Other personalities include Bhrikuti, Araniko, etc. Our country is also known for its bravery. Our country never has to celebrate Independence day as we were never under the rule of any other. We stood and fought against the Britans and other Mongol countries. Brave Gorkhalis were united after a long struggle and fought their way to preserve their country. The courage and bravery of Nepali people are also know world wide. Many brave Gorkhalis went to fight under countries in world wars and won various colors and medals. This brought our country so much respect that we even enjoy it for granted to date.

Although our country’s history, culture, terrains, and achievements make anyone feel proud, the power struggle for the politicians, previous kings, and presidents have made the country weak and fall in the developing country category. Our rich natural resources have not been utilized and we have fallen way behind. Corruption is widely prevalent in our country and the loans we have taken from other countries are in a large number. The amount of food and other materialistic consumption has made Nepal import more and export less.

Our country is poor but the people here are rich. This is because of the corruption and the illegal working/trading that has been done. The government has not made significant progress and the people aren’t responsible. Although I feel proud to be A Nepali, the condition of my country makes me feel bad. People should feel responsible and carry out their duties and not just complain about the government.

The government too should implement proper policies and rules and enforce them accordingly. Utilization of our natural resources should be done in an effective way and social evils such as discrimination according to castes and genders, other superstitions should be slowly removed. Centralized development should stop and we should control the people moving out to other countries with their skills that are wasted abroad. This way we can slowly develop our country.

Essay on My Nepal, My Pride [For College and School Students]

Essay on  My Nepal, My Pride is often asked at schools and colleges examination in Nepal.  The following essay on “My Nepal, My Pride” is a sample essay for school a college students. We will be uploading different versions of the essay over time.

[# Sample 1]: Essay My Country Nepal (327 words)

My country, Nepal, is situated between two enormous countries: India and China. It is famous all over the world because Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world, is here. Even though Hindus constitute more than 80% of the population, minorities are never overlooked. It is called the land of natural beauty because it has been covered with green forests, hills, mountains, and valleys.   I am proud of my country because it was never subjugated or dominated by any other country, even in the era of colonization. There were 22 or 24 sets of states in Nepal, which were unified by the King of Gorkha, Prithvi Narayan Shah. It was called Nepal, with its capital in Kasthmandu, presently known as Kathmandu. Jungbahadur Rana established the Rana Dynasty, which ended after 104 years. Later, the monarchy came, which was finished in 2063. Now we are practicing it as a pure democratic country. My country has been divided into three geographical zones: Terai, Hills, and Mountains, including Valleys. The culture of one place does not completely resemble that of another. The wear, food, and standards of living also differ. There is a difference in language, too. Religious tolerance exists among people of various ethnic groups: Hindu festivals are celebrated by Muslims and others. Similarly, Hindus also participate in the festivals of minorities. There is no history of communal riots in my country.   I am more proud that the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, Kapilvastu (Lumbini), is here. He established Buddhism, which is followed approximately all over Asia and partly on other continents, too. Janakpur is well-known for giving birth to Sita, the incarnation of the goddess Laxmi.   Thus, I am proud of my country because it is a source of inspiration for the whole world. It has its glory and natural history that can bring it up more and more, and my pride will be spreading day by day. I'll proudly say I am Nepali, and my country is Nepal.

[# Sample 2]: Essay Our Country Nepal (324 words)

Our country, Nepal, is a landlocked country. It is located in South Asia, between two massive countries, China and India. India lies to the south, east, and west of Nepal, whereas the Chinese autonomous region of Tibet lies to the north. It is divided into three distinct geographical zones: the highest Himalayan range, the hills, and the low-land hills. It is an agricultural country full of natural resources. The highest peak, Mt. Everest, is in Nepal.

Life in a mountainous region is extremely difficult. There is a lack of transportation. So people living there rely on air transport. Cultivation is also very difficult, so it is famous for the husbandry [cattlekeeping] occupation. Hilly areas contain some road facilities. They have stair-like fields for cultivation. But the lowland region is an appropriate place for good cultivation. The cultivation and products from it vary according to place and climate. In the Himalayas, it is very cold. In hilly areas, it is temperate, but in the low-land hills (terai), it is sometimes too hot and sometimes too cold.

Our country is called the second-largest country in the field of water resources. There are many rivers in our country. They are the Mechi, the Mahakali, the Seti, the Koshi, the Bagmati, the Kamali, the Narayani, the Gandaki, the Rapti, the Bheri, etc. But we don't get many advantages from it. Similarly, it is full of natural resources, but we are unable to take advantage of them due to a lack of money, good technology, and strong will. There are only a few factories in our country. But we are unable to provide them with electricity to run them smoothly.

We must be willing to utilize natural resources to develop our nation; we should advertise its beauty all over the world so that lots of tourists can come here. We should also try to save its beauty. We should take an oath to maintain unity among its citizens forever.

“Mother and motherland are greater than heaven.”

It is a true statement. We are born in a country that is full of natural beauty. We are highly patriotic. We love our nation more than our soul. The country is like heaven to me. My country’s name is Nepal. It is derived from two magical words, “ne” and “pala.” The word Nepal means the country of peace and love. This is the country where Lord Gautam Buddha, the ‘Light of Asia,’ was born. This is the country of the Bir Gorkhalis. The highest peak in the world, Mount Everest, is located in this country, which places our country at the top.

There are many mountains in my country; therefore, it is called a mountainous country. Many rivers flow from the mountains to the hills and the plains of the Terai. My country, Nepal, is divided into three geographical regions and five development regions. The national flower of the country is rhododendron, the national bird is Danphe, the national color is simrik, and the national weapon is the khukuri. My country, Nepal, which may be very small on the world map, but to me, whether it is small or big, it is my world. Many national personalities were born in this country, such as Prithivi Narayan Shah, Bahadur Shah, Rajendra Laxmi, and so on.

The history of the country Nepal is very powerful. All the pages of history are filled with the hot and red blood of national heroes. My country, Nepal, is like a gem between two big stones; it is situated between the two largest countries, India and China. Nepal is divided into many ethnic groups, making it a multi-caste, multi-culture, multi-tradition, and multi-religious country. Despite different castes, people here live in ‘unity in diversity’ without fighting in the name of culture, religion, caste, and so on.

They live in a peaceful environment. The country is blessed with natural beauty that attracts many tourists, and the number of tourists is increasing day by day. Tourists are drawn to the country, which helps boost the country’s economic status. The foreign currency left by tourists in the country contributes to its development. We, the Nepalese people, do not need big buildings or expensive things. We find happiness in the smell of rhododendrons and the natural beauty that our country offers. We all know the great saying, “Hario ban Nepal ko dhan” which means that the green forests are the wealth of the country.

More than 80% of the total population depends on agriculture, making the country an agricultural country. Many rivers, green forests, mountains, lakes, etc., make the country stand out. My country, Nepal, is like heaven to me. I love my country very much. I am proud to say that I am Nepali, and my country, with its natural beauty, is everything I desire. We, Nepalese people, are ready to sacrifice for our country, and we feel extremely proud to be Nepali. So, we say that our country is our pride.

Essay on My Culture My Pride

Culture is the beating heart of identity, a vibrant tapestry woven with traditions, customs, and values passed down through generations. For me, my cultural heritage is not just a legacy; it is a source of immense pride and a guiding light that shapes my worldview. In this essay, I explore the profound connection I feel to my culture, celebrating the richness it brings to my life and the pride that comes with embracing the traditions that define my identity.

Quick Overview:

  • My cultural identity is deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of traditions and customs passed down through generations.
  • It serves as a constant reminder of the resilience, wisdom, and beauty encapsulated in the heritage of my ancestors.
  • Language is a vital component of my culture, serving as a bridge that connects me to the wisdom of my ancestors.
  • It is not just a means of communication but a repository of stories, poetry, and the collective wisdom of generations past.
  • Engaging in traditional practices and celebrating festivals is a joyful expression of my cultural pride.
  • These rituals not only connect me to my roots but also create a sense of community and shared identity with others who hold the same cultural threads.
  • The flavors and aromas of traditional cuisine carry the essence of my culture.
  • Every dish is a journey through history, reflecting the resourcefulness and creativity of my people, and enjoying these meals is a celebration of my cultural identity.
  • My cultural pride is not exclusive; it extends to a profound respect for diversity and inclusivity.
  • Embracing my own cultural identity does not mean excluding others; instead, it fosters an appreciation for the diverse tapestry of human experiences.

Cultural Roots and Heritage:

My cultural identity is deeply entrenched in the roots and heritage that have been nurtured over centuries. It serves as a testament to the resilience, wisdom, and beauty encapsulated in the traditions of my ancestors. The rituals, stories, and values passed down through generations are not just historical artifacts; they are living expressions of the strength and depth of my cultural heritage. This connection to my roots provides a sense of continuity and belonging, reinforcing the idea that I am a part of something much larger than myself.

Language as a Pillar of Identity:

Language is a cornerstone of my cultural identity, serving as a pillar that connects me to the wisdom of my ancestors. It goes beyond mere communication; it is a living repository of stories, poetry, and the collective wisdom of generations past. Speaking my native language is not just a means of expressing thoughts; it is an act of preserving the cultural nuances, linguistic intricacies, and unique expressions that define my identity. Language becomes a bridge that spans generations, connecting me to the voices that echo through time.

Traditional Practices and Festivals:

Engaging in traditional practices and celebrating festivals is a vibrant expression of my cultural pride. These rituals are not just ceremonies; they are threads that weave a sense of community, connecting me to others who share the same cultural heritage. Whether it’s participating in traditional dances, observing religious ceremonies, or coming together for festive celebrations, these activities create a collective identity that transcends individual experiences. They serve as reminders of shared values, forging a sense of belonging that extends beyond family to encompass a broader cultural community.

Cultural Cuisine:

The flavors and aromas of traditional cuisine carry the essence of my culture. Each dish tells a story of resourcefulness, creativity, and adaptability, reflecting the unique history and geography of my people. Sitting down to a traditional meal is not just a culinary experience; it is a celebration of cultural identity. The spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques have been handed down through generations, preserving the authenticity of each dish. In savoring these meals, I am not just nourishing my body but also honoring the culinary legacy that is an integral part of my cultural pride.

Respect for Diversity and Inclusivity:

My cultural pride is not insular or exclusionary; it is a foundation for embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity. By celebrating my own cultural identity, I develop a profound respect for the rich tapestry of human experiences. It becomes a source of strength that enables me to appreciate and learn from the cultures of others. Rather than creating barriers, my cultural pride serves as a bridge, connecting me to a global community where diverse backgrounds and traditions enrich the collective human experience. In embracing my own cultural identity, I find the capacity to celebrate the uniqueness of others with open-mindedness and empathy.

In the kaleidoscope of human identity, my culture is not just a facet but the very prism through which I perceive the world. The traditions, language, practices, and cuisine that define my cultural heritage are not relics of the past; they are living expressions of resilience, wisdom, and beauty. My cultural pride is not a shield that separates me from others; it is a tapestry that weaves a sense of belonging and understanding. As I navigate the complexities of the modern world, my cultural identity remains a source of unwavering pride, grounding me in the rich history and vibrant traditions that shape my identity.

My Mother

10 Lines on My Mother in English

My son is heading off to west point. we will only be able to communicate through letters, and i'm nervous about the adjustment..

  • My son is headed to West Point as a Cadet Candidate, and he will have no phone access for six weeks.
  • I know he won't put much thought into letters home, but I will continue to write to him.
  • I understand that this is a change in our relationship, and it is the best thing for him.

Insider Today

My son is about to embark on a journey that will dramatically change our relationship, and I am trying to be OK with it.

He will leave my house, where he has lived since he was a kid, and become a Cadet Candidate at West Point . The first step in that journey is a six-week Cadet Basic Training before the academic year begins.

During those six weeks, he will not have any access to his cellphone . To better appreciate the gravity of the journey and to understand what he can be at West Point, distractions are not allowed. And phones are the ultimate distraction.

For the first time, I won't be able to hear my son's voice. We will only be able to communicate via letter.

I don't expect much from my son's letters

In our house, the mailbox does not get emptied every day. Usually, it is filled with superfluous paper that gets discarded into the recycling bin. No anticipation or excitement is hiding in that paper pile.

But now, the squeaking mailbox door will cause me to jump faster than my younger self , sprinting to catch the ice cream truck driving down the street. Tucked under another advertisement for window replacement could be a treasured envelope with a West Point return address.

To be honest, I'm not expecting much from his letters. I am not naïve to think that my son will be prolific. Hopefully, there will be at least one envelope hiding under the monthly Costco coupons , giving me a small glimpse at his new life. It will not be framed or tucked into the baby scrapbook. But, it will be a moment to reflect, in solitude, about where we have been and where we are going.

While my son will rarely have a moment to himself, I will relish in the moment by reading his words. Feeling that paper in my hand, wiping away a potential tear, and knowing that he is fulfilling his calling to serve strengthens my resolve that I prepared him well for his journey.

On the contrary, I will carefully plan what I write to him

As I think about the words that I might write to my son as he faces long days of training, learns to rely on strangers, and separates from the lifestyle he has known, my mind spins.

Related stories

A mom is meant to be supportive, kiss away her little boy's booboo, or otherwise make it better. Those days are over. He is in charge, and I'm trying not to helicopter parent and save the day.

My words on the page should hopefully make him smile, not miss home too much, and otherwise provide a moment of respite from the day. Those letters will be my daily intention to hold him close while he is far away.

I understand that he may never get a chance to respond to my carefully thought-out letters, and I am trying to be OK with that.

West Point is my son's path, not mine. My role is to cheer on his accomplishments, beam with pride, and hide my crying for those private moments when no one is watching.

As I write to my son this summer , I write these words to myself. It is my duty to let my son start this journey untethered. It is my honor to have watched him flourish, and I know that there is a country of men and women supporting him in this life of service.

The Mystery of JD Vance Is Unraveling

Senator JD Vance holds his hand over his heart as he greets supporters in the crowd at the Republican National Convention.

By Thomas B. Edsall

Mr. Edsall contributes a weekly column from Washington, D.C., on politics, demographics and inequality.

JD Vance embodies the pros and cons of political competition in a divided America. He helps, and he hurts.

GZero Media broke this out neatly in a piece it posted on his “pluses and minuses” during the Republican National Convention:

Vance strengthens Donald Trump’s “champion of the working man” message — a Republican rebranding away from its strongly pro-business past. We also saw that emphasis in the striking first-night convention speech from Sean O’Brien, president of the Teamsters, a labor union with 1.3 million members, who accused business and corporate lobbyists of “waging a war against American workers.” That’s not a speech you would have heard at any Republican National Convention of the past century. Vance’s reputation as defender of the globalization-battered working class can help Trump in the electorally crucial Midwest industrial belt states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. But Vance is also an absolutist on restricting abortion, the Republican’s biggest current weakness, according to polls. He has adopted Trump’s line that abortion rules should be left to the states, but his voting record is striking. He favors banning abortions, even if the mother is a victim of rape or incest , as well as laws that allow police to track women who have crossed state lines for an abortion. He has opposed legislation that would protect in vitro fertilization. A poll earlier this month showed that 61 percent of U.S. adults want their state to allow abortion for any reason, and 62 percent support protections for access to IVF.

During the 2022 Ohio Republican Senate primary race, the Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio warned Vance that many Republican voters hold “the perception that he is anti-Trump” because, up until that time, he had been willing to describe the 2020 contest only as “unfair.”

“I think the election was stolen from Trump,” Vance declared in a Republican Senate debate two months later.

In an interview with The Youngstown Vindicator, an Ohio newspaper, Vance contended that there was extensive fraud in 2020, including a “big tech” conspiracy directed by Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive of Facebook.

Vance told The Vindicator that Zuckerberg spent $420 million “buying up local boards of elections in battleground states of mostly Democratic areas” to “tilt” the vote in Biden’s favor.

Vance didn’t stop there. “We have a fake country right now,” he said. “If a billionaire can go and buy up votes in our biggest geographies and tilt an election, transform who can be president, it’s really, really dangerous stuff.”

Russian travelers sailing around Earth lose their trimaran in Pacific Ocean

BUENOS AIRES, March 21. /TASS/. The trimaran a Russian team on a circumnavigation of the world had used sank in the Pacific Ocean during their evacuation last week, the head of the expedition, Yevgeny Kovalevsky, said on Monday.

Previous reports said the trimaran had been towed off by a bulk carrier that rescued the Russian travelers.

"In a heavy storm, the captain of the vessel Sounion managed to locate the drifting trimaran and pulled the crew on board, warning that they would have to abandon the inflatable boat. Nevertheless, an attempt was made to rescue the boat, as it was towed with a tow rope. As the rescue operation was conducted late at night, the trimaran was torn off from the bulk carrier amid a strong wind and huge waves," the expedition said in a statement seen by TASS.

Kovalevsky and his crewmate Stanislav Berezkin requested help on March 16 due to a steering failure when they were crossing from mainland Chile to Easter Island. With the assistance of the South American republic’s Navy, the Russian travelers were evacuated by a vessel that was heading for the mainland.

The travelers lost all their equipment and belongings with the trimaran. However, they are planning to continue their circumnavigation in April on board a sailing inflatable catamaran they will borrow from another Russian traveler, Dmitry Trubitsyn.

Berezkin and Kovalevsky set sail from St.Petersburg on July 1, 2021. Their expedition under the aegis of the Russian Geographical Society follows the routes once taken by famous Russian explorers Adam Krusenstern, Fyodor Litke and Fabian von Bellingshausen. The total length of the route is some 35,000 nautical miles.

In early November, the travelers left Buenos Aires for Cape Horn. They have been crossing the Pacific Ocean since February 28.
