ThirtyC wants the force to be with you out on the water this May 4. The UK design studio has unveiled a pair of Star Wars -themed superyachts to celebrate the beloved franchise’s day of days.

May 4th, a.k.a. Star Wars Day, was established a long time ago in a galaxy not so far away—specifically, here on Earth back in the ‘70s. The unofficial holiday, which gets its name from a line of dialogue in the 1977 classic Star Wars: A New Hope , gives stans an opportunity to honor George Lucas’s famed space saga in all manner of ways, even via specially designed superyachts.

ThirtyC’s creations are fictitious riffs on two existing vessels by noted builders Heesen and Lürssen. Although they will never officially hit the seas, the designs capture the sci-fi glory of Star Wars in abundant detail.

Heesen’s 262-foot Project Cosmos , which is currently in build IRL and will mark the yard’s first superyacht built from aluminum, is depicted soaring through the galaxy with a couple of X-Wings by her side (above).

Lürssen’s epic 476-footer Nord , meanwhile, features the iconic razor crest ship from the spin-off Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian on the landing pad. It’s also emblazoned with “Grogu” on the stern which is the official name of the character known to most fans as “Baby Yoda.”

ThirtyC actually started penning Star Wars -inspired superyachts back in 2015 when the studio first opened. Founder and creative director Rob Armstrong said the exercise started “just for fun” but has since become an annual tradition.

“It’s great to see the response online, although each year is becoming more challenging to outdo the last,” Armstrong told Robb Report via email. “More than anything, it’s great to see our work inspire others to join in by adding their own twist on this iconic movie franchise.”

Last year , the studio superimposed some of the series’ most famous characters, such as Darth Vader, Princess Leia and Chewbacca, onto an array of million-dollar tender superyachts and tenders, including the Pascoe SY9 Beachlander, the Hodgdon 10.5m Venetian Limo Tender, Cockwells Titian Tender, Wally Tender 48 and Vandal 14m Open chase boat.

May the force be with the studio for 2022.

Introduced by SoroSuub in Year 4 CGT, the Horizon-class Star Yacht quickly became a crowning achievement in starship design. Tasked with diversifying the PLY product line, the Sullustan shipwrights of "Project New Horizons" incorporated successful design elements into a completely original configuration that was critically acclaimed as an engineering marvel. Manufactured in very small quantities for market trials, the Horizon-class became a sensation after being prominently featured in the holovid series "Girongo the Hutt", which followed the half-fictional exploits of the outlaw celebrity and his crew. Even today, many people still believe that Girongo designed the Horizon himself. While the future seemed bright for this innovative luxury model, the Horizon-class was discontinued when SoroSuub was folded into Incom. However, following the New Republic's demise in Year 21, a number of Horizon-class datacards began to circulate on the industrial market.

One departure from the standard PLY design was to include a starfighter-style cockpit in place of the more traditional bridge seen on other yachts. With room for only a pilot, a co-pilot, and a navigator, the Horizon is designed to be run by a small crew, giving a more hands-on feel when piloting the ship. The Horizon is more heavily armed than previous yacht models, with twin heavy lasers flanking the cockpit. It is also fitted with a ventral tractor beam to aid in loading and unloading the ship's docking bay. Its inner, strut-mounted pods house the twin ion engines that propel the ship during sublight travel, and its outer, wing-mounted pods house suites of advanced sensors, giving the ship a remarkable detection range. The interior of the ship is lavishly decorated with hardwood floors and stonework features. Typically, the Horizon's fixtures are adorned with precious metals.

With a unique combination of luxury and practicality, the Horizon is usually preferred by those looking to travel swiftly and in style. While not particularly suited to any one purpose, the Horizon's speed, weaponry, and docking capabilities make it highly adaptable. For this reason, the Horizon is able to fulfil a variety of roles, making it the ideal home away from home for wealthy sentients across the galaxy.

Darth Vader: Star Wars-inspired interiors of Otam 70HT revealed

Italian yard Otam has revealed new details and imagery of its recently launched 22.3 metre Otam 70HT model named Darth Vader, which has been debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival. 

Described as “seriously sleek”, the Otam 70 HT has been designed by BG Design Firm while engineering has been penned by Umberto Tagliavini .

New images show a modern, monochromatic interior with marbled and metallic finishes. The owner is clearly a Star Wars fan, as the interior of Darth Vader has also been decorated with a number of Darth Vader artworks and details.

Highly influenced by luxury automotive and aeronautical design, the model is described as "the epitome of dynamic performance and timeless style”, by the builder.

The automotive design inspiration is evident in the scooped air intakes in the hull, each side of the foredeck sunbed, in front of the windscreen and under the radar arch. All work together to channel air into the engine room.

Speaking about the design, BG Design Firm said: “The design is strongly inspired by the aeronautical world and luxury sports cars. It was essential to design the new 22.3 metre by taking into account the proportions and lines that have always distinguished Otam yachts.”

Otam sales and communication manager Matteo Belardinelli added: “We wanted to take the detailing to a new level on the new 70HT model. Meticulous attention to detail has always been a hallmark of the brand and BG Design Firm interpreted our brief perfectly.”

Customisation of the yacht is key, the builder said; the owner of the first hull has chosen to include a cockpit and saloon with sofa seating along the port side for entertaining large groups.

Elsewhere, the yacht includes a sunbed on top of the transom tender garage and a sun bed at the bow. Other options are available, the builder said, adding that the second in the series will likely have “a more classic” layout.

The first hull also features a three-cabin layout, including a full 5.4 metre beam owner’s suite forward with a separate crew cabin at the bow.

Power comes from a pair of 2000hp MTU engines for an impressive top speed of 50 knots and the yacht is also equipped with gyro stabilisers.

Behold The Latest Massive Lego Star Wars Set: A $500 Jabba's Barge

Lego is back with another big, beefy Star Wars set and this time its Jabba’s Barge. The desert sea sci-fi yacht, envy of all of Tatooine, features almost 4,000 pieces and comes with a hefty price tag of $500. More expensive than a lot of Lego sets but still not as much as a PS5 Pro.

Lego Insiders get early access (it’s not just for games anymore) to pre-orders on October 3, with the sets available to purchase for everyone else starting on October 6. Jabba’s Barge weighs in at exactly 3,942 pieces and is 31 inches long. It also comes with 11 minifigures, including Jabba himself, a bunch of his alien groupies, as well as Princess Leia, C-3PO, and R2-D2 ready to bartend.

Lego produced a replica of Jabba’s Barge back in the 2000s with set 6210, but that one was a lot smaller at half the length and less than a quarter of the pieces. It was definitely more manageable and a lot cheaper, though. Still, even the new Jabba’s Barge is something of a tiny little guy when compared to some of the biggest Lego sets ever produced, including the $760 Razor Crest, $1,050 AT-AT, and $1,050 Millennium Falcon.

That one weighed in at 7,541 pieces and was a pain to fit on a shelf. Fortunately, Jabba’s Barge looks a bit more manageable in comparison, and the big side doors make it much more conducive to poking around inside and imagining you’re back on Tatooine doing crimes with the Hutts.

I build lego sets with everything in tidy trays too, look at the vent shaft detail, jabba’s barge is full of compartments, this guy doesn’t have kids apparently, shaken, not stirred, princess leia is ready to shoot some womp rats, everything in its right place, jabba knows what’s up, open the doors to air things out, your neighbors will be so impressed, glass display case not included.

Oh, and if you snag it between October 3rd and 5th, you’ll even get Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber set as a freebie. Consider it a little bonus from a galaxy far, far away.

Speaking of which… if you’ve ever wanted to wield the power of the Force without leaving your living room, the LEGO Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber set is here to fulfill that dream—kind of. While it won’t slice through blast doors or make that satisfying hum, it does come as a freebie with the Jabba’s Sail Barge set between October 3rd and 5th.

It’s a detailed replica of Luke’s iconic weapon from Return of the Jedi , complete with a stand and nameplate to make sure everyone knows whose lightsaber you’ve built. Just don’t expect it to fend off Stormtroopers; it’s more about the decor than duels.

As a sporting yacht , the ship was mostly used as a pleasure vehicle by affluent beings. Baudos were not beloved by most bulk freighter pilots, who disliked being passed on the spacelanes. The ship itself was described as having a resemblance to some sea creatures. Baudo -class yachts were equipped with a powerful sublight drive for good speed in normal space. The single laser cannon in the standard version of the yacht was not only installed for looks—several precise hits could make pirates change their minds. Mirax Terrik's Pulsar Skate was a highly modified Baudo -class star yacht, and certainly the most famous ship of this type.

The Baudo -class yacht was produced by the shipyards owned by Mendel Baudo , and each ship was custom-built to the specifications of its owner. This meant that each ship was unique in some way from all others, although the underlying drive systems remained common. Because these ships were not exceptionally fast or complicated, the Baudo -class yacht found a following among amateur and experienced pilots. However, purchasing one of these ships required that a customer be referred to Mendel Baudo by another being who had purchased one, since Baudo refused to take orders without a reference. Build time could take as much as a standard year, depending on the amount of customization, because Mendel Baudo personally ensured that each ship was perfect.

Two contrasting versions of the Baudo -class star yacht appear to exist in canon . Probably the better-known version is the design used for the Pulsar Skate in the Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron comics and Star Wars Customizable Card Game , appearing first in Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron: The Phantom Affair in 1996. However, the earlier illustration in the Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game (which was used as a silhouette in Pirates & Privateers ) show a flatter and smoother starship: this seems to have served as the basis for the descriptions of the vessel in the X-Wing novels , and recently in Legacy of the Force: Exile . No canonical explanation has been offered to resolve the discrepancy.

The Moldy Crow was originally going to be a Baudo -class star yacht.
