Harmony Yachts

I have chartered a bareboat Harmony yacht in the Med, cant find much info about the brand, anybody got any experience of the boats? I took it in preference to a Bavaria, hope my choice was good!  

I have chartered a Harmony 42 from Largs and was impressed with the performance (wing keel) - very quick boat and easily handled with no vices. The interior is a bit bland and functional but it was a charter boat.

Similar to beneteau's Cyclades range. Basic but sound and reasonably quick. Comfort level of most AWB standards. Fine for Med charter.

Was on one once and all I can remember was that it had a huge kitchen type sink!  

The cheapest and nastiest of the cheap and nasty boats. OK for a charter but don't buy one. I chartered a nearly new one in the med a few years ago and quite a few things were already falling off or broken. The chap, who had bought a job lot of them, had someone from the factory there for many weeks fixing things. Almost impossible to hoist the main on all of them for some reason.

Since 1964 Westport has taken a long-term view of the future, and invested heavily in people, design, naval architecture, infrastructure, engineering and proven technologies to secure its position at the forefront of the superyacht industry.

Harmony measures 50.00 feet in length, with a max draft of 2.40 feet and a beam of 9.30 feet. She has a gross tonnage of 490 tonnes. She has a deck material of teak.

Harmony 42 (2005-2009)

The Harmony 42 is a French production yacht that garnered attention for its innovative features and affordability. Designed by Olivier Poncin, the founder of Harmony Yachts , and built between 2005 and 2009, this sailing boat is a product of meticulous engineering and efficient production methods. The Harmony 42 is a versatile vessel, suitable for both cruising and racing, and offered a range of customisation options for potential buyers.

When it comes to performance, the Harmony 42 doesn’t disappoint. The boat is equipped with a Volvo Penta engine, which can be upgraded from 40hp to 55hp as part of the optional Comfort Pack. The Harmony 42 had a unique design theme that combines a straight-stemmed hull with medium displacement. This makes it heavier than some of its competitors, which is advantageous for a cruiser. The boat offered three types of keels: a fin/bulb in iron, the same in lead, or a shallow-draught tandem keel. The rigging is also noteworthy; it features long spreaders and good mast support, making it simple, strong, and efficient. The hull construction incorporates a foam-core and Kevlar reinforcement, adding to its durability.

Those boats with heavy charter use are at the lower end of the scale; those with very little use and a high specification are able to achieve higher prices due to their better condition and history.

Depreciation Curve

A 2008 model would have cost around €299,000 with all factory fitted options.  This sum, allowing for inflation would now be worth €430,857 or USD $460,847.  

BUC Value gives an average valuation for a 2008 model in fair condition for its age as USD $87,600.

A 2008 model on the market today is listed at €59,500.

Depending on the specification of the vessel (the number of factory fitted options and any subsequent upgrades) these figures would suggest the depreciation on a 2008 model of approximately 81% over the last 15 years (Spend adjusted for inflation cf. BUC Value).

The 36.2m/118'9" motor yacht 'Harmony' was built by Maiora . Her interior is styled by Italian designer design house Maiora and she was delivered to her owner in July 2017. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Maiora.

Guest Accommodation

Harmony has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising two VIP cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Her features include underwater lights, beach club and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she has impressive speed and great efficiency thanks to her planing hull. Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96L) 2,600hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 24 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 30 knots with a range of up to 1,100 nautical miles from her 20,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Her low draft of 1.7m/5'7" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Harmony features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 3,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) C ✠ HULL ● MACH classification society rules.
