Below Deck yacht owners dish money, crew member parties, and overall feelings about their yachts on Bravo show

Below Deck yacht owners make a lot of money from Bravo show.

Below Deck yacht owners are dishing what it’s like to have their yachts featured on the Bravo show, including the money and crew members partying on the boats.

Fans of the hit yachting franchise have always been curious about the money Below Deck, Below Deck Mediterranean, and Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew members make on the show. It’s good money that includes crew salary, tip, and production fee from Bravo.

Mega money and crew parties on yachts

In an interview with Dockwalk , Bobby Genovese, Kim Vibe-Petersen and Jim Glidewell talked about their yachts being on reality TV.

Bobby owns BG, which Below Deck fans know as The Valor featured in Sea 4,5, and 7. , He revealed the money he makes from renting his yacht. Plus, Bobby also spilled that filming occurred during ski season, which sealed the deal for him.

“I don’t use the boat those six weeks. They paid me a million dollars. They fixed the damage that they caused, my crew got the opportunity to have time off, and it made sense for me,” Bobby shared with the website.

Kim owns Parsifal III, which has been featured on both seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. He weighed in on crew member parties on his yacht in real life versus reality TV life.

“It’s not totally like it is in reality. The crew is jumping around in our Jacuzzi and all over the boat. That part of it is maybe a little overdone,” Kim explained.

What do the Below Deck yacht owners think of the Bravo show?

Jim who owns the Rhino, which Below Deck fans know as Ohana featured in Season 2, praised the show and said it was a no-brainer to lend his yacht to reality TV.

“Bravo has this down to a science. It doesn’t go rough at all. It’s very well done,” he said to Dockwalk. “Captain Lee handled it great, but I had a first mate and an engineer on board for backup, who were not shown on television. I think if people don’t take that charter money, they’re wrong.”

Like Kim, Jim feels the charter guests and crew are not like typical charters. Both yacht owners have nothing but respect for the Bravo franchise. Kim and Jim hope to keep lending their yachts for future seasons of Below Deck and Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

While Bobby doesn’t mind having his yacht featured on the franchise, he has never watched an episode and doesn’t ever plan on it. Bobby revealed that he changed the yacht’s name so people wouldn’t associate the boat with the show.

Overall the three yacht owners are pleased with the Below Deck franchise. They make great money and some of them enjoy seeing their yachts on the small screen.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

Below Deck’s Staggering Production Cost is Revealed as Yacht Owners React to Partying On Their Boats And One Owner Reveals Massive Amount He Was Paid for Vessel Rental

Below Deck's Staggering Production Cost Revealed as Yacht Owners React to Partying On Their Boats And One Owner Reveals Massive Amount He Was Paid for Vessel Rental

Credit: Charles Sykes/Bravo

One Below Deck yacht owner reveals how much he was paid for the use of his boat and others react to the partying that takes place on board as the jaw-dropping amount of money it takes to film the show is revealed.

Many networks prefer reality television because the genre is fairly cheap to produce when compared to scripted television. However, the same cannot be said about Below Deck as it typically costs upwards of $10 million per season to produce.

In 2019, Below Deck Mediterranean alum Hannah Ferrier dished on what it costs to film the Bravo series.

“All I’ve got is the gossip, and numbers have been swirled between $10 to $12 million,” she told the Daily Mail . “It’s a very expensive show to film.”

Of course, renting a yacht for a six-week season is extremely expensive since the average cost of a weekly yacht rental is about $200,000. Bobby Genovese — who owns the boat known as Valor featured on seasons four, five, and seven of Below Deck — recently revealed how much he was paid for the use of his boat while explaining why he agreed to the deal.

“I don’t use the boat those six weeks. They paid me a million dollars, they fixed the damage that [they caused], my crew got the opportunity to have time off, and it made sense for me,” Bobby told Docwalk in April.

It should be noted that his boat’s real name is BG. Since he didn’t want his vessel to be associated with the show, the stage name Valor was chosen.

Meanwhile, Jim Glidewell — who owns the yacht Ohana featured on season two of the show — said he did not wish to use a stage name for his vessel as he dished on the great experience he had working with Bravo.

“Bravo has this down to a science. It doesn’t go rough at all. It’s very well done,” he explained. “ Captain Lee [ Rosbach ] handled it great, but I had a first mate and an engineer on board for backup [who were not shown on television].”

Jim went on to say that his boat’s typical guests are nothing like the charter guests on the show because they’re not “adult spring breakers.” Kim Vibe-Petersen , who owns Parsifal III  on Below Deck Sailing Yacht , seemingly agrees with Jim about the guests, but he also believes the crew members are a bit over-the-top as well.

“It’s not totally like it is in reality,” Kim revealed. “The crew is jumping around in our Jacuzzi and all over the boat. That part of it is maybe a little overdone .”

As for the Valor’s owner, he refuses to watch the show because he’d rather not know what’s happening on his vessel. Furthermore, if someone attempts to tell Bobby about something that went down on his boat, he shuts the conversation down immediately.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season two airs Monday nights on Bravo at 9/8c, and Below Deck Mediterranean season six is expected to return sometime this summer.

Does Captain Lee Own a Yacht?

The answer to the question of whether Captain Lee owns a yacht is yes, he does. As revealed in an interview with BravoTV.com, Captain Lee has had his own boat since before joining the cast of Below Deck Mediterranean. He has owned a number of yachts over the years and currently captains his own 77-foot Azimut called “Honor.” According to him, it was an easy decision to make as owning a yacht gives him freedom and independence that he wouldn’t have otherwise. Aside from being able to take it anywhere at any time for leisure or business purposes, owning a yacht also allows Captain Lee to customize his vessel according to his preferences and needs. With all these advantages, it’s no surprise that Captain Lee decided on having his very own yacht!

Who Owns the Yacht My Seanna on Below Deck?

The luxurious yacht “My Seanna” featured in the Bravo television series Below Deck is owned by On Demand Yacht Charters, Inc. With two full-time chefs on board who prepare gourmet meals for guests each day, it’s no wonder why many people consider My Seanna one of the most luxurious yachts available for charter today.

How Much Does Captain Sandy Get Paid?

How Much Does It Cost to Rent a Yacht on Below Deck?

The cost of renting a yacht on Below Deck will depend on the size and type of yacht you choose, as well as the time of year. In the fourth spin off of Below Deck, the now infamous decided to spice things up a little. Instead of the usual Mediterranean or Caribbean routine, Below Deck went to the less explored (but extremely breathtaking) Norway.

For this new serie filled with adventure, Below Deck picked the motoryacht Mercury, ex Malibu and Kermit, to explore the Fjords Norway is famous for.

Mercury is a 50m motoryacht built by the dutch shipyard Amels, and designed by Terence Disdale.

She can accomodate up to 12 guests and 12 crew onboard. No doubt, that should be enough for this new exciting season.

Northern Sun: the yacht in Below Deck Down Under Season 2

northern sun below deck down under season 2

Below Deck Down Under season 2 explored the coasts around Cairns, the gateway to access the great barrier reef and the Whitsunday Islands.

And it’s hard to imagine a better yacht than the Northern Sun motoryacht to explore this iconic area. The Northern Sun is a 50.8m (now yacht) that used to be a vessel dedicated for ice exploration. The refit work took two years but was clearly worth it when we look at the result displayed in this second season of the Australian Spin off.

Although the Northern Sun is built by the Japanese Narasaki shipyard, it surely is a boat that fits Australian waters quite well and could delight anyone looking to explore the most rugged locations in style, whether they are polar or tropical.

Northern Sun is available for charter from $161,700 / week . Her latest asking price was $15,000,000 .

The 'Below Deck' Boat Is Still Chugging Off-Season

who owns ohana yacht

Every Below Deck addict is in a period of mourning right now, as another season comes to a close. Just like summer, every charter season must come to an end… at least in the world of the show, where after five or so weeks everyone goes off on their own way. But who runs the Ohana when Bravo isn't filming ? The TV crew stays busy by taking other yachting jobs, and so does the boat. For the super rich Below Deck fans among us, of course there's the option of chartering the Ohana , the yacht where our favorite TV crew serves their wealthy charter guests.

Bravo chooses a boat and rents it out for the duration of the season, keeping on only the behind-the-scenes engineers and crew. So if you show up at the Ohana, you won't see Ben throwing pots and pans around the kitchen or spot Kelley and Jennice flirting on deck. Instead, you'll have ten crew members hired by Churchill Yacht Partners, the company that currently owns the Ohana . Oh, and the owners have renamed it the Rhino (like last season's Honor, the owners of these mega yachts really want to distance themselves from the show… can't imagine why). But even with the name change, I'd recognize that slide anywhere. Alas, no charter for me. We all can't fit the profile of a Below Deck charter guest. Meaning, we all can't be both incredibly rich and incredibly demanding and picky.

The Ohana was bought in 2011 by Northrup & Johnson , a leasing and company that acquired the ship and did extensive updates and repairs. And then, when resold to Churchill Yachts, they did a total overhaul and completely updated the entire ship. So even though it was built in 1998, it feels brand new. Yachts bounce around frequently from company to company, subjected to name changes, and change crew as often as they change port — a yacht based in Florida is probably not recruiting deckhands from Newport Beach, and vice versa.

Chartering, as we've seen on the show, is like renting: a series of guests get their reign of the boat for a fixed period of time. I'm assuming buying a yacht is for those so rich, so fabulous, so Leo DiCaprio, that simply having a super yacht for a few weeks won't do: that boat needs to be ready to get fired up at a moment's notice. Right now it doesn't look like the Ohana is currently for sale, so no need to bust out that A-List checkbook and hire a permanent crew.

Interesting side note: have you found yourself admiring the grace and beauty of the Ohana and its spacious bedrooms (for a yacht) and huge bathtubs (for a yacht) all season long? Well, you can thank the designer, Donald Starkey . I only mention this because apparently this guy is a rock star in the yachting design world. Also, please, please, please watch this video tour of the Ohana . This video makes it feel like the Titanic. Basis-for-a-classic-90s-romance-wise, not about-to-sink-wise.

From falling in love too damn hard! Seriously, that video.

Written by Rachael Steele

More and more luxury yachts can say that they’ve starred briefly in films these days, but few can boast an entire series dedicated to that antics on board like charter yacht RHINO – better known under the name ‘OHANA’ – in the second series of ‘ Below Deck ‘. She is currently available for charter in the Bahamas .

Luxury yacht RHINO with a water slide

Luxury yacht RHINO with a water slide

Built in 1998, this classic 47m/154ft Admiral superyacht has been fastidiously maintained by her Owners over the years, keeping her in tip-top shape. Her last comprehensive refit in 2014 got her looking her best before filming the Second Series of Below Deck from August until November that same year. But there’s more than just appearances with motor yacht RHINO; find out about what attracted – and still attracts – the jet set to her.

The Interiors

Donald Starkey is a renowned name in the yachting industry, and when it comes to luxury yacht RHINO he produced both the interiors and the exterior styling. For the interiors, there is a combination of beautiful traditional surroundings within the main deck salon and some of the guest cabins, while the sky lounge and Master suite are contemporary and bright, contrasting jovial artwork with white environs.

Spacious saloon with comfortable seating and lounging areas

Spacious saloon with comfortable seating and lounging areas

The formal dining area is rich in detail, drawing guests into an intimate atmosphere for memorable meals with cherished ones around two circular table. The family can nestle into the plush sofas in the main salon, or head up to the skylounge for the gaming table, after-dinner drinks at the wet bar and a film on the massive widescreen TV.

M/Y RHINO is equipped with top-notch entertainment systems, including a Kaleidescape movie server that offers more than 300 films in unparalleled audio and video quality. iPod docking stations feature throughout the bedrooms and shared guest spaces for personalised entertainment, and an Xbox with Kinect will keep younger individuals engaged while cruising between destinations.

The engineering is also impressive and superyacht RHINO cruises at 13 knots with a top speed of 16.5 knots. She has a transatlantic range of 3,500 nautical miles, meaning that there’s no need to stop to refuel while cruising through the Mediterranean or the remote Caribbean islands.

The Exteriors

There is ample deck space onboard for hosting dockside parties, and the sundeck will come into its own with the sunbed-surrounded raised Jacuzzi and plentiful seating, with one round after another of sensational cocktails produced by the nearby wet bar. A barbeque grill lets guests remain outside to enjoy the elements as they savour freshly caught fare – some treats that might even have been caught by the guests themselves.

Breakfast ready for the guests to arrive

Breakfast ready for the guests to arrive

Below, the shaded upper deck has a more sedate atmosphere yet is no less desirable and acts as a great extension to the skylounge with a widescreen TV to keep up with the latest sports. A grand alfresco dining table will beckon guests outside for meals by candlelight, and along the stern, a circular table and curving sofa create a space for family games and drinks.

The Accommodation

There are five beautiful en-suite cabins to sleep up to 10 guests onboard, consisting of a Master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins that can be converted to doubles as required.

Master suite

Master suite

The Master Suite is the most enviable bedroom on board, finished in pristine white from floor to ceiling with a king-sized bed for a couple to lay their weary heads after celebrations long into the starry nights. Guests having trouble drifting off can watch a film on the widescreen TV, or head into the adjacent lounge for work and study or TV entertainment without disturbing the other occupant. The en-suite bathroom has a dressing table, his-and-hers sinks, a shower and a spa pool tub.

The double cabins have queen-sized beds and a more classic ambience with rich wooden panelling. The twin cabins are similar styles and have the same proportions, with TV entertainment and en-suite bathrooms to ensure guest privacy.

The Water Toys

As one might expect from a prestigious superyacht, M/Y RHINO has a long list of water toys designed for a range of groups, from multi-generational families to adventurous young couples wanting to live life up in the sunshine.

Lucky guests have at their disposal:

  • 4 x Waverunners
  • 2 x Seabobs
  • 2 x kayaks (2 pax)
  • 2 x Stand-Up Paddleboards
  • a waterslide
  • snorkelling equipment
  • fishing gear, and
  • inflatable and towable toys

All of this will be set up and put away by the expert crew, leaving guests more time to socialise and take in the destination. What’s more, motor yacht RHINO is an Approved RYA Water Sports Centre, so guests can earn a jet ski licence during their time on board.

Experience the quality of Admiral-built luxury yacht ‘OHANA’ for yourselves and charter her for your next big holiday or special occasion.

Below Deck Mediterranean: Captain Sandy Is Throwing Shade At People In Leadership (Was This Directed At Hannah?)

Perfect match: everything georgia revealed about her breakup with dom, 90 day fiancé: did jasmine pineda cheat on gino palazzolo with rumored new boyfriend matt.

The yacht that Captain Lee Rosbach is sailing on this season of Below Deck is the notorious My Seanna. While fans of the show haven't seen the yacht since season six in 2018, it was quite the impressive power vessel. It looks like Valor is taking a back seat for this season.

On this season of the popular Bravo series, My Seanna is setting sailing once again with Captain Lee and the crew from the show. Even though it has been a couple of years since the fans have seen the massive yacht, they do not forget all the great times the crew had on it during season 6. Captain Lee took the My Seanna ship all the way to Tahiti on season 6, which made for quite the picturesque season. Now My Seanna is back on the water, sailing through the Caribbean sea with the crew from Below Deck .

According to Mega Yacht News , the My Seanna yacht  seen on  Below Deck was built 20 years ago by Delta Marine and previously named Gallant Lady. Back the yacht was 160 feet, but was refitted in 2014 to the 185-foot mega yacht its appears as today. The Yacht Charter Fleet added that the interior and exterior designs of the boat were designed by Glade Johnson Design. The overall look and style of the yacht feels expensive and luxurious thanks to the fabulous designs the vessel was given. Not only is the boat beautifully design, but it is massive enough to fit up to 12 guests. The yacht includes six rooms, including a master suite, one VIP stateroom and 4 double cabins. Not to mention, My Seanna can also hold up to 12 crew members on board to ensure a relaxed and luxurious experience. The price for a boat like this will cost you between $350,000 and $412,500 per week in the summertime and between $294,000 and $392,000 per week during the winter seasons.

Even the beautiful furnishings and lavish seating featured throughout the yacht  were carefully placed to create a rich and comfortable atmosphere. As for amenities, the My Seanna includes impressive leisure and entertainment facilities that make this boat ideal for socializing and entertaining with family and friends. The outdoor movie theatre allows for downtime with some company. Plus, there is a touch-and-go helipad for those who may enjoy a fun helicopter ride. Some other important amenities features that guests might enjoy are the air conditioning, WiFi connection on board, deck jacuzzi, and gym equipment. Not to mention, the boat also includes an array of amazing water toys such as several kayaks, a water trampoline, an inflatable waterslide, and more. As for the performance of the ship, My Seanna includes an ultra-modern stabilization system to help reduce the roll motion effect and for maximum comfort throughout one's charter trip. With a cruising speed of 13 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots, the My Seanna is ideal for those who love performance and luxury.

The My Seanna has been proven to be a reliable yacht for both its crew and its guest for many years. Since  Below Deck has used this ship more than once, proves just how great the My Seanna has been to those who have had the pleasure of chartering it. Maybe the fans will get another season next year with this fabulous yacht.

IONIAN PRINCESS

Ionain Princess season 1 Below Deck Mediterranean

Premiering on 3 May 2016, the very first season of Below Deck: Mediterranean , a spin-off of the increasingly popular franchise, took to viewers' screens. This time the ‘yachties’ took care of their guests onboard the motor yacht IONIAN PRINCESS  in the Mediterranean  destination of Greece .

The starring yacht IONIAN PRINCESS was delivered from Christensen in 2005 and was later refit in 2016 and again in 2021. Truly opulent, she bears interiors that are sleekly finished with a range of warmly toned woods and plenty of comfortable furnishings. She also boasts one of the largest sundecks for a yacht of her size.

Below Deck: Mediterranean Season 1 yacht IONIAN PRINCESS is not currently available for private yacht charter vacations.

Below Deck: Sailing Yacht

This is the first time the Below Deck franchise branched away from gleaming motor yachts, with the various weather issues that sailing yachts have to contend with adding even more drama and excitement.

The design of luxury sailing yachts  also creates far more confined crew areas than we are used to seeing on the original Below Deck . In general, sailing yachts tend to feature smaller galleys, compact stew stations and cramped crew quarters which are in closer proximity to the guests’ living areas, putting crew under increased pressure to deliver their signature silver service.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3

Below Deck’s staggering production cost revealed

Hannah Rankine

Yacht owners have revealed how much they were paid for the use of their boats for the filming of the hit reality TV show Below Deck. Crew members have also given an insight into what it costs to produce the show.

Bravo TV’s Below Deck chronicles the lives of crew members who work on board luxury yachts during the charter season. Each season features a different crew configuration, and the episodes show how the crew members interact alongside their working lives. The seasons are filmed over six weeks, with every episode featuring a new group of charter guests.

In 2019, Below Deck Mediterranean alum Hannah Ferrier revealed what it costs to film the series.

“All I’ve got is the gossip, and numbers have been swirled between $10 to $12 million,” she told the Daily Mail. “It’s a very expensive show to film.”

M/Y Valor

Bobby Genovese, owner of 46-metre (154-foot) M/Y Valor, which features on seasons four, five, and seven of Below Deck, recently revealed how much he was paid for the use of his boat while explaining why he agreed to the deal.

“I don’t use the boat those six weeks. They paid me a million dollars, they fixed the damage [that they caused], my crew got the opportunity to have time off, and it made sense for me,” Genovese told Docwalk.

It should be noted that his boat’s real name is BG (formerly Charade). Since he didn’t want his vessel to be associated with the show, the stage name Valor was chosen.

Meanwhile, Jim Glidewell, owner of 46-metre (154-foot) M/Y Ohana, which features on season two of the show, said he did not wish to use a stage name for his vessel as he dished on the great experience he had working with Bravo TV.

“Bravo has this down to a science. It doesn’t go rough at all. It’s very well done,” he explained. “Captain Lee handled it great, but I had a first mate and an engineer on board for backup [who were not shown on television].”

Glidewell went on to say that his boat’s typical guests are nothing like the charter guests on the show because they are not “adult spring breakers”.

S/Y Parsifal III

S/Y Parsifal III

Kim Vibe-Petersen, owner of 54-metre (177-foot) S/Y Parsifal III on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, seemingly agrees with Glidewell about the guests, but he also believes the crew members are a bit over-the-top as well.

“It’s not totally like it is in reality,” Vibe-Petersen revealed. “The crew is jumping around in our Jacuzzi and all over the boat. That part of it is maybe a little overdone.”

The Below Deck Luxury Yacht is Available to Charter (Video)

Posted by Claudine Williams | Sep 22, 2014 | Reality TV | 1 |

On the Below Deck reality TV series, TV viewers can get brief glances at the interior of the Ohana, but if you are really curious about how the Ohana looks, be sure to watch the video tour of the luxury yacht below. Those of you who like what you see might be interested in chartering the Ohana for your own sea adventure. The Ohana is available for charter, but the name of the ship has changed. The Below Deck luxury yacht charter is now called the Rhino.

According to Yacht Charter Fleet , the Rhino, formerly the Ohana, can accommodate up to 10 guests.  Inside, there’s a master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins. The yacht is air conditioned and has Wi Fi. The Jacuzzi on the deck of the ship is a familiar sight on Below Deck. Other amenities include a waterslide, wave runners, a trampoline, snorkeling gear and more. The yacht can be chartered for either the summer or the winter season. Yacht Charter Fleet has the luxury yacht charter price listed as $140,000 per week in addition to any other expenses for both seasons.

In Below Deck, the yacht is in service in the British Virgin Islands.  The Rhino actually services New England, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and St. Barts in addition to the Virgin Islands. The information to charter the yacht is on the Yacht Charter Fleet site.

There had been some rumblings on the net about another crew that had been hired to do the actual work on the Ohana during the show. It is evident, however, from the cast bios on VH1 that most of the crew members do have some boating experience.

That’s in spite of the fact that Below Deck cast member Andrew Sturby left one of the portholes open in his  room, and sea water  was on the floor in one of the first few episodes of the show.  Andrew is actually a former Abercrombie and Fitch model; no other deckhand experience was listed in his VH1 bio. Jennice Ontiveros, however, was a deckhand for at least one summer in 2013 in Michigan, and Deckhand Kelley Johnson is a former Marine who worked on a yacht before entering the corporate world. On the show, the crew earns dollars in tips. The amount varies, based on the generosity of the guests on the ship.

In real life, the Ohana, now the Rhino can accommodate a crew of 10 people. So, even though the Below Deck cast is not on the Rhino at this time, anyone who plans to charter the yacht should figure in the cost for the charter and a lot of extra cash for the tip if great service and pampering is received onboard. The Rhino appears to be a beautiful yacht!

Below Deck airs on Tuesdays on Bravo at 9 p.m. Easter/8 p.m. Central Time.
