Manila Bay Dinner Cruise – Is it Worth Your Time and Money?

On the ferry a staff took my seat number. I flashed my ticket and she led me to the upper deck. I was pleased to be seated up there rather than at the lower deck which was enclosed. Considering it was a weekday, I didn’t expect a full boat, but, on that day, a company booked a group tour and it was quite busy.

As we waited for the rest of the passengers caught in traffic it began to rain so, plastic curtains were pulled down on each side of the deck.

Manila Bay is well-known for its beautiful sunsets and despite the rain that day the sky was coated in warm palettes of orange, pink and blue.

I gazed at the horizon and saw the bright orange sun slowly sinking behind some thick dark clouds. On the other side, haze loomed above the city creating a dramatic skyline. It was what photographers call “the golden hour.”

I settled back at my table and there before me was dinner composed of a bowl of soup and a plate with a slice of pork with some kind of barbeque sauce, breaded fish with mayonnaise, a cup of rice, and some corn and carrots on the side.

Our ferry slowly navigated back to the wharf where we shortly disembarked, and so that concluded our 90-minute cruise.

Cruising is a rare activity for most Manila natives, but anything rare has something unique to offer, so even if you’ve seen Manila Bay countless times, a leisurely boat ride can still be a rewarding experience.

The main take away for me was the opportunity to enjoy a glorious sunset and savor the brilliant evening lights as our ferry swayed on the gentle waters of Manila Bay.

Hi Nadia, the upper deck is better for sightseeing. The stench I mentioned was quite strong at the port but once you’re out in the open sea the air is okay. You might want to bring a shawl or a light jacket since it gets much cooler after sunset. Enjoy!!

Yes, I recommend seating at the upper deck. You’ll enjoy the views better. You won’t have to endure the foul smell at the wharf once you are out in the open sea. Have fun!!

Thank you for visiting and I’m glad you like the article. I guess it depends on your wife’s preferences. If she likes being outdoors and enjoys sightseeing I think she’ll appreciate the experience. I must warn you, the food isn’t great but what I enjoyed the most was watching the sunset and the view of Manila’s skyline during twilight. After the tour you can walk to MOA and enjoy a hot cup of coffee and some dessert at some cafe near the bay. Hope that helps! Wishing you a happy anniversary. 🙂

Hi Iza, I came across your page as I am looking for reviews about manila bay dinner cruise since my girlfriend and I will be celebrating our anniversary in October. As compared to Prestige Cruises, do you think Sun Cruises is good enough? Food tasting wise? Experience wise? Our chosen sailing time would be 6:15pm with Sun Cruises. Do you think we’d be able to see the sunset while sailing in the open sea? I’d really like to get an opinion cuz I don’t want my gf to be dismayed. Thanks for your response.

Hi Manuel, so sorry for the delayed reply. The cruise was fine, I enjoyed it. Although, at the port the breeze can smell really bad. But, like I mentioned in the article above, once you are out in the open sea, the air smells fine. The sightseeing was fun, take the 5:30 p.m. trip if you’d like to enjoy the sunset. The food was not impressive, so I suggest do the cruise then take your girlfriend to a fancy restaurant in MOA afterwards. There are a lot options at the mall. Hope that helps. After pickup from your hotel, youll be taken to the Cultural center of the philippines (CCP) to board a comfortable yacht for the cruise of your choice: sunset cruise, mid-evening cruise or night cruise. On the sunset cruise, youll be treated to a gorgeous Manila bay sunset. On the mid-evening cruise, view the vibrant lights of Roxas Boulevard, or enjoy a calm atmosphere on the night cruise as you witness the city sparkle. Your friendly staff will provide excellent service as you take in the sights of Manila Bay and pass popular attractions like the Mall of Asia. Then, feast on traditional Filipino cuisine while enjoying an enchanting live performance by a local band. The menu changes nightly, but an example of a meal you can expect to enjoy is a fish fillet with buttered vegetables and rice, accompanied with drinks and topped off with buko pandan (a coconut cream dessert). After singing a few tunes, the band will ask for any song requests, so feel free to request your favorite song or a song for your special someone! The food had no flavor, the boat was to small therefore the boat rocked till my date was sick and very ill and upset and upset with me for booking the cruise

a birthday treat for my girlfriend..did the sunset cruise...was amazing from start to finish...friendly crew, great food and entertainment plus so many great sights along the harbour...very memorable

It was not a 3 hour cruise, it was about 1.5 hours. No wine or alcohol. Buffet, going up and down steps with both hands full of dinnerware with boat moving. Tricky for a 70 year old guy but they have a great crew who helped. Also, it was 58 each but Sun Cruises actually only charges 650 pesos if you go directly to the terminal. That's about 13 US dollars. Really enjoyed the views and the meal was nice.

Dinner Cruise didn't meet expectations. Around the wharf, the Manila Bay stank. They went around in circles in the boat for only 90 minutes of a 3 hour cruise. The live music was only 3 songs. Very poor. The food was ordinary. Overall .... not good value for money!

Pick up was on time. Tour guide was good but there was a lot of waiting time between arriving at the dock and leaving for the cruise. We had a great top level view. The stench though from the River was not nice at all but abated as we left the shore. Meal was fine. Views great. Entertainment was pleasant - a duo. This was a great trip which we enjoyed and would recommend. Very relaxing

Thanks so much for allowing me this option to let you now about this. The bus picked me up on time they were perfect. However, the Cruise It is not worth it. I am very disappointed with the food, the boat, the furniture at the boat tables and chairs old and dirty, the cleaning of the boat, silverware was dirty , the presentation was not nice at all. When the waiter offered me and served me water the water was dirty!! with white things floating and people were drinking it, they didn't notice! That was completely gross. The food was horrible and cold. OMG the chicken had parts of the chicken that you are not supposed to serve! or eat! The smell of the bay is horrible. It smells to bathroom or wet chicken. Unfortunately I was expecting a sunset but there were too many clouds so that was bad luck. That I understand . But I was expecting a better experience in terms of the cruise based on the price and how it is described . That cruise doesn't definitely worth what I paid. You want an advice. Don't take this tour. Better to walk in the sidewalk for the sunset with your own snacks but remember that the smell will disappoint you a lot. Too much contamination in the air and water : I do recommend other areas in Philippines though.

The tour was great,my family and I enjoyed the sunset and took memorable pictures. The boat ride provide an opportunity to see the city from the water. The food was well served and the music was impressive. Overall we had a great evening /night, except that there wasn and #39;t a big crowd.

You should have told the truth about the tour. Your ad said 3 hour tour. We were only on the water for 1 hour and 10 mins. The live music was for only 1/2 hour. The boat only goes in circle for most of the trip. Good thing the drivers that fetch us were very friendly. I would still have booked the cruise, even knowing the truth. Regarding my personal view, I think this yacht needs a retouch. The words "cruise" and "yacht" always meant a bit of luxury so I would suggest to maybe change the type of chairs or tables that reflect this kind of activity. Also, the walls could be painted with live colors and maybe change the type of decors they have. The outside look of M/V Spirit of Manila was very impressive so I think it would be also nice to compliment the look inside. Having said this, if you're looking for a budget kind of cruise, this is perfect. Hope to do a Manila bay dinner cruise with Sun Cruises soon with my family!

You can have an additional hour of cruise (P30,000 per hour) or an hour docked (P20,000 per hour). THIS RATE IS NOT VALID ON SUPER PEAK SEASON: Peak Periods: Holy Week & Easter, December, January 1-5, February 11-15, surcharge applies.
Cancellation	If for any reason the clients cancel the booking, there will not be any refund of any paid amount. The Clients shall be liable to pay the total price contracted for. For cancellations caused by fortuitous bookings such as flood, typhoon or earthquake, we will reschedule the booking. Only rebooking without additional fees are allowed should any Covid complications arise that may affect your cruise.
