10 Must-Visit Crew Bars Around the World
Finally have some time to yourself and plan to spend it bar-hopping ashore? If you’re looking to find yourself amongst fellow yachties in your downtime, head to these bars beloved by superyacht crew in the world’s most popular yachting hotspots, from Antibes and Mallorca to Fort Lauderdale and the Caribbean islands.
Tap 42, Fort Lauderdale
Perfectly situated right next to Fort Lauderdale’s yachting district, it's a short trip from the marinas and crew accommodations to this budget-friendly Floridian gastropub. Tap 42 is known for its special deal days such as free drinks for ladies’ night every Wednesday and bottomless brunch on Sundays. The menu features typical American fare such as beefy burgers, moreish mac and cheese, barbecue ribs, and southern-fried chicken, plus fresh-caught seafood like grilled mahi mahi, jumbo shrimp, and ahi tuna tartare. The drinks list is populated by carefully curated, locally brewed beers and whiskeys.
Chat ‘N’ Chill, Stocking Island
Capt. Jeff Callahan of 31.55-meter Burger yacht Northland recommends this barefoot beach bar in the superyacht hub of the Exumas. He says the Chat ’N’ Chill is always “absolutely loaded with crew.” This buzzing hangout is famous for its Sunday Hog Roast and the menu is garnished with Bahamian beers and local dishes, including conch salad and burgers with a side of rice and peas. There’s plenty more to do than eat a meal there — visiting crew can swim with stingrays, mingle over a game of volleyball, attend barbecue parties, or even upskill with an on-site mixology course.
Willy T’s, Norman Island
Floating in Bight Bay just off the coast of Norman Island, this Caribbean beach bar is a legendary yachting institution in the British Virgin Islands (BVIs). Only accessible by yacht or tender, The William Thornton — affectionately known as Willy T’s — is a rowdy pirate ship party boat, where guests drink shots off waterskis and jump into the water from the top decks. Specialities on the menu include traditional chicken roti as well as locally sourced conch fritters and mahi mahi sandwiches, while drinks are mixed with the bar’s own brand of rum. Willy T's first opened in the 1980s and rose from the ashes in 2019 after being wiped out by Hurricane Irma two years previously.
Hogan’s Bar, Mallorca
When Hogan’s burger bar opened in Palma’s Santa Catalina district in 1996, it was the first authentic Irish pub in Mallorca. It became an instant hit, and with live music events and sports showings, the bar is now a favorite among crew cruising the Balearics during the Mediterranean season. Ideally located, the bar offers direct views of the marina and sees a regular stream of yachties visit for a pint of Guinness and a hearty meal. The menu specialises in burgers, chicken wings, and nachos, with everything on the menu made from scratch.
Sheer Rocks, St. John ’ s
One of two restaurants at Coco Bay Resort in western Antigua, crew come to Sheer Rocks for sundowner drinks or days off. All reservations receive a free drink on arrival and the menu is extensive, featuring tapas dishes like fried croquettes, pata negra platters, and truffled mac and cheese as well as local conch or clams. All seafood is carefully sourced, with only line-caught fish and hand-dived lobster on the menu. Other specialities include the homemade banana baked Alaska drizzled with local honey and a selection of aged rums and cigars will finish off the night. Alongside taking in stunning views out to sea, guests can also enjoy two infinity plunge pools and relax on linen-draped daybeds.
Absinthe Bar, Antibes
Located deep in the underbelly of Antibes’s old town, this speciality bar can be found in an underground cave just a 10-minute walk from the superyacht hub of Port Vauban. Decorated with retro posters, an original 1860s zinc bar, and absinthe memorabilia, Absinthe Bar has a unique atmosphere and offers something slightly different for yachties who have already sampled the other crew hotspots of Antibes. The forgotten drink favored by the bohemian set of the 19th century is revived at this dive bar and served in the traditional way, with a flaming sugar cube on top.
Abracadabra, Nelson ’ s Dockyard
Affectionately referred to as “ Abras ,” this Antigua institution has recently reopened its doors after an extensive two-year renovation. Swaying palm trees, live music, and the sound of waves lapping the shores of Nelson’s Dockyard set the scene for memorable nights at this restaurant and nightclub. The menu features Italian cuisine, with dishes like eggplant parmigiana, deep-fried calamari, and Neapolitan meatballs complemented by an extensive variety of cocktails. The bar itself describes the clientele as a mix of “yachties, local residents, and celebrities.”
Soggy Dollar, Jost Van Dyke
An iconic watering hole for yachties cruising the Caribbean, Soggy Dollar is so named because guests can only access the bar by swimming to the shores of White Bay on Jost Van Dyke island. A collection of superyacht guests, bareboaters, and crew flock to the lively BVIs bar to sample its signature drink, “The Painkiller,” invented here in the 1970s and concocted from a mixture of dark rum, coconut cream, pineapple, orange juices, and freshly grated Grenadian nutmeg. Partner your drink with comfort food and local seafood, such as lobster rolls or fresh mahi mahi.
Boatyard, Fort Lauderdale
The aptly named Boatyard has all the right elements to attract yachtie types; a prime waterside location near Fort Lauderdale’s marina district, nautical interior styling with a laid-back atmosphere, and a menu that focuses on fresh seafood from the local waters. Diners can dig into offerings from the raw bar, including oysters, ceviche, and shrimp, or go big with a plate of lobster and tuna tacos or grilled mahi mahi and swordfish from the wood-fired grill — plus the wine list is extensive if you’re just dropping by for a drink and there's vegan options as well. The Boatyard describes itself as an establishment “that embraces the pulse of the city’s yachting culture,” and there’s even a 120-foot (36.5 meter) dockage option for those who want to drop anchor right at the doorstep.
Saba Rock, Virgin Gorda
Self-described as a “haven for yachties, divers, and kiteboarders for more than 50 years,” this small island in the BVI’s North Sound holds a charming, rustic resort with a large mooring field for visiting yachts to drop anchor right out front. Founded in the 1960s by a pro diver, Saba Rock still offers courses from diving to windsurfing that crew can enjoy on their day off — if they haven’t already booked a session at the spa to relax after a long shift. The open-air restaurant and bar is familiar with welcoming crew to its shores and has a menu featuring a fusion of Caribbean and international dishes, including conch salad, mahi mahi ceviche, blackened grouper burgers, or grilled lobster.

10 Amazing Mallorcan Restaurants All Yacht Crew Should Try
Being based in Mallorca is a real treat for crew who love their food. This Spanish Island has a vibrant gourmet scene that never stops evolving —whether you’re looking for a cosy tapas bar in Palma ’s Old Town, Michelin-starred fine dining by the sea, or a long, lazy lunch on a rustic terrace under the vines.
There are about a thousand places to eat in Mallorca, and the standard of food is generally very high. One of the great joys of days off in Mallorca is just jumping in the crew car and heading off exploring, finding little local gems of restaurants as you go. But there are some restaurants that you’ll regret not trying if you don’t make time for them during your stay on the island.
Here are 10 of the best restaurants in Mallorca that will lock in your memory — even long after you’ve left your yachting days behind.
1. For Beach Bar Bliss: Patiki, Soller.
Feast on colourful plates of food by the sea at this gorgeous little chiringuito, a laid-back, chic bohemian beach bar at Soller. British chef Grace Berrow relies heavily on the locals, sourcing her seafood and produce from neighbouring farmers and fishing folk and allowing customers into the kitchen to see the magic happen. So grab a table on the deck just metres from the sea and soak it all in—a fabulous choice for a fun crew day off by the sea.
2. For Paella and Sunsets: Restaurante Sa Foradada, Deia.
Considered one of the incredible sunset spots of Europe, Sa Foradada has an eponymous restaurant which has also cornered the market with one of the best paellas on the island. This place has “you’ll remember it” stamped all over it, as you’ll have to either arrive by tender or boat from Port de Soller or by hiking 1 hour down the hill, as there’s no road to the restaurant. But once you’re there, you won’t want to leave as you tuck into a rustic paella feast cooked on the fire in an open-air kitchen and sit on the balcony hanging out over the rocky cliff.
3. For Slow Food in the Village: Ca Na Toneta, Camiari
This restaurant is one of Mallorca’s iconic little gems, a ‘rustic-chic’ restaurant run by two sisters in a little stone house in the tiny village of Camiari. Named after their grandma, the restaurant features organic, local slow food and offers only a 6-course tasting menu. This approach has been phenomenally successful, with Conde Nast naming Ca Na Toneta one of the 207 best restaurants globally as rated by foodie professionals. Inside, it’s a cosy affair of exposed stone and white-cloth tables, or you can take a table on the outdoor terrace under the grapevines.
4. For seafood in a Cliffside Paradise: Ca’s Patró March- Deia
We’re back to Deia for this one (if you could bear to leave in the first place). Like nearby Restaurante Sa Foradada, this restaurant hangs out over the emerald waters, built into the rocks in a seemingly fragile assembly of timber, thatch and cane. There are no white cloth tables, so expect your menu to come in a plastic sleeve folder. But don’t be deceived, for you’re just as likely to run into George Clooney here as the local fisherman. Ca’s Patro March is a lively, wonderful place that has been cemented into Majorcan life and its film history — it recently starred in an episode of The Night Manager.
5. For Affordable Michelin-Starred: Adrian Quetglas, Palma
The Palma dining scene is lucky to have Adrian Quetglas, and any self-respecting ‘foodie’ should run to get a table at this restaurant. The Argentinian-born chef firmly believes that haute cuisine should be for everyone. His mission to democratise fine dining means you can enjoy his Michelin-starred 5-course (lunch) and 7-course (dinner) tasting menus for €55 and €85, respectively. (Add €30-35 for wine pairings.) With stunning plating, creative flavours and an elegant dining room of green velvet chairs and cascading vines, Adrian Quetglas is the perfect date location for those looking to impress.
6. For Traditional Llonguets and Beers in an Atmospheric Setting: Bodega Bellver.
Chances are, if you’ve looked for work in Palma, you’ve already had your fair share of affordable but delicious tapas at the iconic Bar Dia. For this recommendation, we’re also going old-school and heading down into the dark cellar of Bodega Bellver, where time has stood still. Take a stool at an old wooden wine barrel, order an icy beer, and tuck into one of the hot llonguet sandwiches that have made this place stand the test of time.
7. For Traditional Basque Food by Top Chefs: El Txoko de Martín, Palma
The recent trend towards traditional food has seen an explosion in casa de comidas , a casual, home-style cafe where locals go for the food their mother used to cook — omelettes, stews, and casseroles. (The Spanish version of the traditional French bistro.) Top chefs happily adopted this trend, including 12 Michelin-starred Martin Berasategui, who has opened his casa comida, elevating traditional Basque cuisine in a trendy brown leather and timber restaurant in Santa Catalina. Expect big hits of tradition and hearty flavours elevated by the creativity and execution of one of the world’s top chefs.
8. For Creative Modern Tapas in a Bustling Cocktail Bar: Vandal
‘Food with attitude’ is this restaurant’s tagline, and there’s no question they’re pushing the boundaries at Vandal. This edgy, fashionable venue is one of the hottest places in town, serving creative Latin American and Asian-inspired tapas in a cool bar with an industrial edge. It regularly features on ‘best restaurants in Mallorca’ lists.
9. For Rustic Mountain Simplicity: The Lamb Restaurant, Alaró
There are certain iconic places that you almost have to visit to ‘earn your stripes’ as a yachtie. The Lamb Restaurant, perched halfway up a mountain on the way to the castle up at Alaró, is iconic. Rustic. Delicious. Not terribly vegetarian-friendly. Don’t expect fancy —this is not what this place is about. The inside is cosy and traditional- all exposed stone, dark timbers, and wooden tools stuck on the walls, while the outside tables with the mountain view have plastic chairs. You won’t care as you tuck into their legendary slow-roasted lamb shoulder or their excellent suckling pig or goat.
10. For That Home-Cooked Meal Experience: Ca n’Ignasi, Palma
Often referred to as ‘the best local food on the island’, this simple, unfussy restaurant has amassed a cult following for its exceptional home-style food using local produce. And it’s extraordinary value for money, with set menus for around 35 euros. The chef is known to come out and chat with the diners, and everyone walks away from Ignasi’s House feeling full and very happy.
You’ll remember these days, sitting around with your crew, eating, drinking, and laughing in a splendid place far from home. So, give the chef a day off. Get out of the crew mess and try these incredible Mallorcan restaurants!

Our guide to 5 Winter Refit Destinations you’ll probably end up in 10 October 2017
The summer season in the med has all but ended, so if you’re not off to the Caribbean this can mean only one thing… You, my friend, are off to the shipyard for a refit.
But what on earth are you going to do all winter (besides sanding and varnishing of course)? Luckily for you many refit shipyards are in or near fantastic destinations, so here’s our guide to some of our favourites:
STP in Palma, Majorca
Food: We’re in Spain so think tapas, piles of tiny restaurants and hidey holes where you will find the best food you’ve ever eaten. If you haven’t been yet then you must try Ombu and Forn de San Joan.
Facilities: Dock Bar has always been a convenient place for a catch up in the yard with friends and contractors. To make your refit as easy as possible, there are various onsite suppliers based in the yard too. STP is also in an excellent location, so once you’ve finished work you’ll be back in the old town in minutes.
Things to do: Mallorca is a paradise for people that like to be outside, even in the Winter months. Think amazing beaches, excellent rock climbing and some of the most amazing routes through the countryside and mountains for cyclists and walkers.
Transport links: Taxis are cheap, central Palma is walkable and the airport is only 15 minutes outside of town, with flights to most major European cities and excellent connections via Barcelona.
Nightlife: Palma is world renowned for its night-time culture, and is home to everything from classy cocktail bars like NeoCultural, to big name clubs like Pacha. If you’re looking for something different, head to Abaco which is a cocktail bar situated inside a reimagined medieval Majorcan Palace. Famous yachtie bars here include Corner Bar, Havana Bar and Bar Cuba.
Rybovich in West Palm Beach, USA
Food: You’re in America, so get ready for all of your favourite US treats such as burgers, ribs, and pancakes for breakfast! West Palm Beach has more to offer in culinary terms though, and you can find everything here from French Cuisine to Caribbean and Cuban flavours.
Facilities: Rybovich is incredibly well appointed in terms of crew facilities. There’s a gym, a swimming pool, and of course the world-famous M/Y Café – a bar and restaurant exclusively for use by Rybovich crew and contractors; and for the occasional crew party or two.
Things to do: The weather in Florida is mostly good all year round, so beach days are still on the cards here. There’s also a wildlife sanctuary and waterpark nearby (you are in the theme park state after all). Feeling adventurous? Head to the Everglades National Park and try out the hovercraft experience on the swamp. Just watch out for alligators, please.
Transport links: It’s a 10-minute drive from the yard to central Palm Beach and 15 minutes to Palm Beach International airport. And if you fancy a trip to Miami you’ll be there in an hour and a half.
Nightlife: There are lots of bars local to the yard, but if you want to go dancing head to The Loft or Rumbass, which are top-rated local night-time spots!
Pendennis in Falmouth, UK
Food: If you’re going to eat seafood anywhere in the UK, Cornwall should be at the top of your list! The Quarterdeck is a MUST visit for posh plates, but don’t disregard the satisfaction you can get from eating fish’n’chips at any one of the local ‘chippys’ in town.
Facilities: The team at Pendennis aim to “provide a professional work environment alongside a welcoming social environment for crews whilst based in Falmouth, providing a home-from-home.”. There are beautiful crew offices onsite where refit projects are managed, a crew gym and a canteen/kitchen which doubles as a social space.
Things to do: Cornwall is one of the most beautiful areas in the UK so if you like walking and sailing you will never run out of things to do here (even though the sea is FREEZING in winter). You should definitely check out the Eden Project which is just an hour from Falmouth, and if you want something in walking distance visit the shipyard’s namesake, Pendennis Castle.
Transport links: The train station connects with the rest of UK and Exeter Airport is 2 hours away by car.
Nightlife: It may be home to Club International, but Falmouth is more ‘cosy pubs and wellie boots’ than ‘stilettoes and hair gel’. Make sure you sample one of the many Cornish ales and ciders on offer at some of the craft-ale hotspots in town.
Integrated Marine in Auckland, New Zealand
Facilities: IMG Yacht Support customers get a crew discount card, which gets you great offers at a range of places, including bars, kite surfing shops, beauty spas and a gym. Integrated Marine also regularly organise crew drinks at the Jack Tar, a local pub near the marina.
Things to do: It may be winter in Europe but you are headed to the NZ summer! For a weekend trip go to the Bay of Islands, make sure you check out the vineyards on Waiheke and if you’re staying in town walk up Mount Eden for an amazing view of the city. If you want to get your adrenaline pumping you can jump off the cities highest building, the Sky Tower!
Transport links: The buses are cheap, the train station is around the corner and it is a 25-minute drive to the airport (and they even have Uber here).
Nightlife: This city is awash with great pubs, trendy bars and of course nightclubs. Ponsonby is one of the most popular nighttime areas and has a lot of variety depending on what you like.
Monaco Marine in La Ciotat, France
Food: This is a quintessentially French town by the water so you’ll find fabulous seafood here. If you’re looking for ideas check out Les Copains d’Abord and ask for a table by the sea.
Facilities: Monaco Marine have a sizeable headquarters building onsite, and inside you can find crew offices and lounges that are perfect for some quiet time off the boat. The company also offer a concierge service for crew living in the yard and plan regular fitness classes and other social activities throughout the winter refit period.
Things to do: In the town itself there are lots of water sports activities available (if it isn’t too cold), or you can jump in the car and head to Les Gorges du Verdun, considered to be one of Europe’s most beautiful river canyons. On your way home pop into the town of Cassis for a coffee and take a wander around its beautiful port.
Transport Links: The local train station means you can easily access the nearest towns of Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and Toulon. Marseille is the closest big airport, an hour away by car.
Nightlife: There are a few bars but if you want your dancing shoes to take you beyond ‘On the Docks’, you’ll have to head to one of the bigger towns. Marseille is a 30-minute train journey away but you’ll need to get a taxi back unless you’re out all night.

The Corner Bar is located in La Llonja in the heart of the old town. Last year it was voted into the top10 yachtie bars in the world and has been established for 15 years.
The Corner Bar boasts one of the few terraces in the old town, which is a great place to people watch whilst you sip a cold beer or two! Buckets of 5 Beers for €5 are available all day until 8pm and Pints of draught beer for €2 are also on offer.
There is a Pool room with its own bar where every Thursday night a Killer Pool competition takes place, €5 entry, winner takes all!
