ACE yacht interior

The ACE yacht was closely influenced by the requirements of Yuriy Kosiuk to be a family-orientated yacht.

With his guidance, Winch Design took the unconventional designs of the owner to create an interior that aimed at having a good time with family and making life onboard work better.

To achieve this, the traditional layout of a superyacht was reorganized.

Several changes were made, including placing the owner’s suite facing aft and not upfront, allowing the owner privacy and panoramic views of the ocean.

The crew deck was built on the main deck, with sliding doors on the side deck to give them air, create happy working conditions, and attract the best crew.

The interior includes ten guests in 5 rooms and accommodation for 30 crew. The interior reflects a contemporary grand hotel with a light and fresh feel.

There is a Roman villa-inspired spa on the lower deck, a Russian tearoom, and a nightclub on the upper deck.

The main deck has a gym, and cinema and is large compared to the owner’s deck to allow more space for family fun.

image 16

The exterior features unique sweeping arches that appear wave-like on the haunches of the superstructure.

The superstructure is aluminum, and the hull is steel. ACE is a Lürssen construction designed by Winch Design.

The exterior reflects a seamless transition between the interior and exterior. The arches on the ACE yacht are meant to show the “fantastic power of a wave,” reflecting the passion and enthusiasm of the owner. ACE has several toys to aid in the fun of the family and the guests.

With a length of 87m(285.4ft), the ACE yacht displaces 2732GT. The boat has a beam of 4.5m(47.6ft) and a draft of 3.75m(12.3ft).

Her 2 MTU engines give her a top speed of 16.5kn and a cruising speed of 14kn. The yacht has a range of 6500nm.

The boat features Quantum XT Zero stabilizers that afford a comfortable experience aboard ACE. She was built to Lloyd’s 100A1 specifications. The boat was built in 2012 and refitted in 2018.

The 8 Athletes With the Most Expensive Superyachts, From Michael Jordan to Rafael Nadal

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

The exorbitant sums professional athletes are paid mean they can afford to splash out on flashy toys. Some splash out a little more than others, though. These eight sportsmen, for example, spent more money on superyachts than all their competitors, according to Boats For Sale CEO Mike Green.

Green has ranked the most expensive yachts owned by sports stars today, showing exactly how much the eight gents were willing to pay for a private oasis at sea. Former boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. topped the list, forking out $200 million for his knockout superyacht. Basketball legend Michael Jordan and pro golfer Tiger Woods landed in second and third place, paying $80 million and $15 million for their yachts, respectively. UFC champ Conor McGregor ranked last but still shelled out $3.6 million for his Tecnomar speed machine.

“Elite athletes often seek the pinnacle of quality and performance, so, when they buy yachts, they’re looking for vessels that match their success and lifestyle, featuring the latest in design, technology, and comfort,” Green said in a statement. “These high-profile purchases not only reflect their personal achievements but also set trends in the luxury market.”

Below are the eight athletes with the priciest superyachts.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Unnamed, $200 Million

Boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s unnamed behemoth reportedly cost him a punchy $200 million. The 15-time world champion, fittingly nicknamed “Money,” shared a series of snaps of himself on the superyacht via Instagram in 2023, adding the caption “I’m the Yacht Master [sic] and I ain’t talking about a Rolex.” Very little is known about the vessel itself, but it is rumored to have several bedrooms, a cinema room, and a sizeable swimming pool. Mayweather’s pics show the yacht has an enviable swim platform and sun-soaked foredeck, too.

Michael Jordan: ‘Joy,’ $80 Million

Basketball icon Michael Jordan owns, not one, not two, but three luxurious superyachts. His most expensive vessel is a 230-footer named Joy . Delivered by Feadship in 2016, the custom cruiser was designed to meet the owner’s brief to “create something totally different to every other yacht,” according to the Dutch yard. It is the first superyacht to feature an exterior design by Bannenberg & Rowell and the first Feadship with an interior by Studio Indigo. Highlights include a bar, a state-of-the-art gym, a Jacuzzi, and a basketball court, naturally. Joy reportedly set the former Chicago Bulls player back $80 million. As for Jordan’s other two yachts, Mr Terrible reportedly cost $21 million, while Catch 23 was priced at $7 million.

Tiger Woods: ‘Privacy,’ $15 Million

Pro golfer Tiger Woods purchased the 155-foot Privacy at the height of his fame in 2004, shelling out $15 million for the custom superyacht. Built by the now-defunct U.S. yard Christensen, the tri-deck vessel is equipped with everything from a Jacuzzi and gym to a decompression chamber for diving. Woods reportedly went to North Carolina’s Fort Bragg military base in 2009 to spend a week training with the Marines to become a master scuba diver.

Tony Parker: ‘Infinity Nine,’ $15 Million

NBA star Tony Parker reportedly gave himself a $15 million explorer for Thanksgiving in 2022. Built by Turkish yard AvA Yachts, the 114-foot Infinity Nine has a range of 6,500 miles, enabling Parker to cruise from his San Antonio home across the Atlantic and nearly back again. The yacht is also tough enough to withstand arctic weather and conditions, despite not being “ice-classed.” Other highlights include a large beach club, a sky-high Jacuzzi, multiple alfresco dining areas, and a full arsenal of water toys.

Cristiano Ronaldo: ‘CG Mare,’ $6.9 Million

Soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly scored a legendary Azimut Grande for $6.9 million in 2020. The custom 88-footer, known as CG Mare , features five luxurious cabins for up to 10 guests, meaning there is plenty of space for the Portuguese forward, his wife, and five children. In addition, the yacht features a Jacuzzi, an outdoor cinema, a plush foredeck lounge, and a lavish outdoor bar. The footballer and his family have previously been spotted cruising in Sardinia. It seems like 22 years on the field has paid off.

Tom Brady: ‘Viva a Vida,’ $6 Million

Tom Brady can now live a life of luxury aboard the 55-foot Viva la Vida . The retired NFL star reportedly purchased his elegant, blue-hulled Wajer 55S for $6 million in 2021. Viva a Vida is named after the charity of Brady’s ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, but the Spanish phrase also means “long live life” or “live the life.” Brady can live a thrilling life, too: Powered by three 435 hp Volvo Penta engines, the yacht has a top speed above 40 knots. Wajer previously told Robb Report that Brady’s was only the fourth 55S model in the U.S.

Rafael Nadal : ‘Great White,’ $5.4 Million

Tennis star Rafael Nadal shelled out $5.4 million for an ace Sunreef catamaran in 2018. The fully custom Sunreef 80 Power, which the Spaniard christened Great White , combines five-star comfort with exceptional seaworthiness. It is also the only multihull on this list, with two hulls that provide more stability and buoyancy than the traditional monohull. In addition, the cat is equipped with two 1,200 hp engines that enable a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots. The centerpiece is the owner’s stateroom, which features a flip-down TV above the bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a plush sofa, and a private fold-out balcony. Other highlights include a hydraulic swim platform, a large aft garage, and a spa. To top it off, the flybridge is outfitted with a bar, a barbeque, and a pop-up TV.

Conor McGregor: Tecnomar Lamborghini 63, $3.6 Million

UFC champ Conor McGregor snapped up one of Tecnomar’s fierce Lamborghini 63s for $3.6 million in 2020. The 63 references the yacht’s length in feet, Lamborghini’s 1963 foundation, and the fact that just 63 of these supercars of the seas were made. Hull number 12, reportedly delivered to the MMA star, was finished in the same Verde Gea green as the Raging Bull’s Sián FKP 37. Powered by a pair of MAN V-12 diesel engines that produce 2,000 hp each, the carbon-fiber 63-footer can reach a top speed of 63 knots and a cruising speed of up to 45 knots. That makes it one of the fastest vessels in its class and a perfect match for an equally ferocious Irishman.

Producers On ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Break Fourth Wall

Aesha Scott

Below Deck Mediterranean follows the crew of the  Mustique , a luxury yacht. The show doesn’t usually break the fourth wall but in recent episodes of Season 9, the producers made the decision to feature camera crews as part of the story.

Breaking The Fourth Wall

Below Deck Med. Season 9 Episode 2 which aired on June 10th features Nathan Gallagher and Gael Cameron trying to ditch the cameras. After a night out on the town the two are seen returning to the motor yacht Mustique, Nathan whispers to Gael “We need to lose these cameras.” They are trying to get away.

Once they were back in their cabins Nathan Gallagher texted Gael Cameron “Where should we meet that has no cameras?” he followed up with “The starboard bow locker has no cameras. Let’s go there.” Gael agreed, texting Nathan, “Tell me when you are there and if you get caught.”

Season 9 Episode 3 started with Gael Cameron running into the camera crew on her way to meet Nathan. One of the camera operators asks Gael “Do you need a mic?” to which Gael replies, “I’m not gonna speak. I’m just getting water real quick. I’m not going to speak to anyone.” Gael texts Nathan “just got caught by the cameras. Let’s call it a night.”

Gael Has a Boyfriend

In the confessional Gael Cameron states that “I’m still in a relationship, and I feel like I’m definitely having stronger feelings than I need to have in this moment. I need to go to sleep.” Gael had a conversation with Aesha Scott in Episode 2 about her relationship with her boyfriend not she had been with him for 5 months.

Gael Cameron tells Aesha Scott   “at the moment, our relationship is a little bit of a long shot,” she said. “We’re still trying to figure out the total trust factor. Like, I know he’s a bit of a flirtatious person, and what happens when he’s on a boat full-time with some really attractive girls?”

Aesha Scott responded to Gael Cameron “Scott and I have been together for three and a half years. There’s not been one time I’ve ever been paranoid. So I just think if you’re worried about each other, then surely it’s not right.”

Aesha Scott Defends Gael Cameron

Fans of Below Deck Med have been quick to criticize Gael Cameron for her relationship with Nathan  Gallagher. Aesha Scott was there to defend her friend Gael . Aesha admitted “as someone who was her roommate and witnessed her relationship with her current boyfriend — when she came on [the boat], that relationship was not in a great stable situation.” She continued to say “Some of the messages that he would send her and the way that he would speak to her wasn’t very nice. And I think that whole thing was very insecure to start with, and they’d only been together a few months.”

Conrad C114S exterior

First look inside second Conrad C144S Extra Time

Polish shipyard Conrad has offered a first look inside the 44.3-metre yacht Extra Time , the second Conrad C144S, following her christening ceremony and delivery in April 2024.

The christening ceremony was held in the heart of Gdansk, close to the shipyard's headquarters. The owner and his family were present at the event, with the owner's daughter smashing the customary champagne and the owner giving a short speech.

Extra Time is the family's first venture into yachting, explained the owner. "When I see the result, it is so beyond expectations. I'm so excited for my family to enjoy it. We've been so lucky to have Conrad and the boat is a piece of art for me," he said.

Sold by Alex G Clarke of Denison Yachting and Jim Evans of SuperYachtsMonaco in 2021, the yacht features design by Reymond Langton and naval architecture by Dutch firm Diana Yacht Design .

The yacht's interior design is by M2 Atelier and closely mirrors the style of hull one, Ace , with a clean, minimal style and plenty of soft grey and neutral tones.

The yacht has a five-cabin configuration with a main deck owner's suite that is accessed via a study-cum-lounge space that is also fitted with an electric piano. Other personal touches include a contemporary King Kong sculpture adjoining the main saloon.

As a model, the C144S won Best New Series at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards 2024 ; while Ace also cinched two separate awards, including Best Interior Design.

"Every launch and christening of a yacht at the Conrad Shipyard is a celebration for our entire team, who work with great passion and dedication for our collective success. The name Extra Time represents the great time spent on board with family and friends. We sincerely hope that the owners will enjoy Extra Time on their yacht," said Mikołaj Król, CEO at Conrad Shipyard.

Power comes from a pair of Caterpillar engines for a top speed of 14 knots. When pared back to 10 knots, the yacht boasts a transatlantic range of 5,100 nautical miles. Extra Time is available for private yacht charters with Cecil Wright .

Extra Time is currently anchored in Nice, according to BOATPro .

The third unit in the series is currently under advanced construction and will be delivered to a Middle Eastern client, while the fourth hull is available for sale .

Former Ace Hotel in downtown L.A. reopens as ‘Airbnb on steroids’

The United Theater on Broadway in the former Ace Hotel

The former Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, which helped lead an economic revival on a historic stretch of Broadway a decade ago, has reopened as a minimal-service operation akin to Airbnb, following a strategy that has become increasingly common for struggling hotels in recent years.

Now called Stile Downtown Los Angeles by Kasa, the 1920s-vintage hotel tower has resumed limited operations after shutting down nearly six months ago. Downtown hotels were particularly hard-hit by the pandemic, and some have changed owners or operators.

Ace Hotel Group had operated the 182-room hotel near Broadway and Olympic Boulevard since it opened in 2014, even as its ownership changed twice over the years. The chic brand made the Ace a destination for travelers as well as local residents who patronized its buzzy rooftop bar and restaurants.

South Korea-based AJU Continuum, which bought the hotel in 2019, announced last week that it had brought in Kasa Living Inc. to operate the property.

Kasa, which is based in San Francisco and has a national presence, “offers the consistency of a major hotel chain with the convenience and character of a modern short-term rental,” AJU Continuum said in a statement.

Ace Hotel said upon its departure that the Broadway hotel would be operated in the future as “a limited-service, rooms-only operation, managed via a tech platform.”

The limited-service model under which guests typically receive codes to get into their rooms via their phones is “basically an Airbnb on steroids,” said Donald Wise, a hotel investment banker at Turnbull Capital Group. “You’re not going to someone’s house or a condo, but to a box that has no more or less service than an Airbnb would have.”

The independent United Theater on Broadway, which is connected to the hotel, will continue to operate as an open venue hosting concerts, performances and special events, AJU Continuum said. The hotel will have a rooftop wine bar but no restaurants.

The site has had multiple identities since it was built in 1927. Constructed with backing from film luminaries Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin and D.W. Griffith, it originally was meant in part to provide a theater for the United Artists movie production company they founded.

The Spanish Gothic theater was designed by C. Howard Crane and the tower by Walker & Eisen, the team behind other local landmarks including the Fine Arts Building downtown and the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills. It held offices for rent and a theater where United Artists pictures premiered, starting with Pickford’s film “My Best Girl.”

Other prominent occupants of the property through the years include California Petroleum Corp., Texaco and flamboyant preacher Gene Scott, whose broadcasts were heard nationally. He died in 2005.

The opening of the Ace in 2014 was a pivotal point in the residential renaissance of downtown that helped spur growth nearby, said Nick Griffin, executive vice president of DTLA Alliance, formerly the Downtown Center Business Improvement District.

“It was evocative of that particular moment in downtown, arriving as a kind of a hipster paradise,” he said. “That area of Ninth and Broadway was a particularly hip area with fashion and hotels at the intersection of the Historic Core, the fashion district and the downtown center.”

Two other boutique hotels created in historic buildings followed the Ace to the neighborhood: the Hoxton Downtown LA and Downtown L.A. Proper. Both are also on Broadway.

Short-term rentals in former traditional hotels and apartment buildings have been popping up downtown as business owners work to find financial equilibrium, Griffin said.

“The new model of short-term rentals is sort of indicative of this moment in downtown as we continue to evolve and innovate coming out of the pandemic.”

Griffin’s improvement district reported that average downtown hotel occupancy, which plunged during the pandemic, has reached nearly 69%, up a percentage point from a year ago. That’s close to what is usually considered a healthy rate but down from late 2019 when occupancy was closer to 80% and average room rates were higher.

“The downtown Los Angeles market is still lagging, hasn’t recovered fully to the numbers that were pre-COVID,” said consultant Alan Reay of Atlas Hospitality Group. “We are definitely starting to see more distress among owners.”

Challenges for hotel owners include a reduction in business travelers to downtown offices as more people work from home. They also face high interest rates on their loans and rising labor costs.

Limited service hotels such as Stile may produce more profit for their owners while also lowering rates for guests who don’t mind having fewer services, Reay said.
