This is the first celebration of the year where you, your family and friends can enjoy music, dances, savory food and entertainment on the island.

KIDS HAND LINE FISHING TOURNAMENT

The Virgin Islands Game Fishing Club hosts an annual tournament in July for kids to be introduced to the wonderful world of fishing at our own American Yacht Harbor. Kids are supplied with hand lines and other items helping them compete for the biggest fish. Different age categories are awarded prizes for the largest catch.

ANNUAL VIRGIN ISLANDS BILLFISH TOURNAMENT FOR HAITI

Hosted at American Yacht Harbor this tournament raises money to benefit the Ensemble Scholaire Pere Basile Moreau Secondary School in Port au Prince.

USVI OPEN/ATLANTIC BLUE MARLIN TOURNAMENT

USVI Open – Atlantic Blue Marlin Tournament (ABMT) is the best catch and release tournament on the island. It is sponsored in part by American Yacht Harbor and has been around for over 40 years. The tournament benefits the Marine Vocational Program which starts off teaching students to swim, sail, scuba dive, and fish among other skills leading them into training programs for future employment in the industry. The tournament includes MarlinFest which boasts many fun activities and Wet N’ Wild Center Console Tournament that allows anglers to compete by IGFA rules for points. Usually held in August or September check out their website for more information.

The Marina itself is well equipped, but includes 2 very viable bar/restaurants and it’s right in Red Hook. Provisioning is quite easy across the street and there are numerous other shops/ restaurants in the area.

From breakfast at the quayside, all the way to dinner on a rooftop terrace, menus range from fresh fish or pizza to traditional Sardinian cuisine that are also available for takeout or delivery onboard. The supermarket, conveniently located on the dock, specialty shop and liquor store offer a wide selection that are available for delivery to your vessel.

There is no ferry to get to American Yacht Harbor at Red hook right. I think I am just reading some posts wrong. Also not to happy to pay 10pp in a taxi to get there are there busses, maybe just get taxis back, is there a taxi stand at American yacht harbor. Looking at interline day sailing (Omar), any comments from those who have done this?

I don't know if American Yacht Harbor is the harbor at Red Hook, but the only way I have ever heard of to get to Red Hook, where the ferry leaves to go to St. John, is by either taxi or bus (which looks just like the jitney taxis). There is the local bus which was only $2 to do a return from Red Hook to the cruise ship area. It dropped us just a couple of blocks from the sky lift. I hear it doesn't have a schedule, but it could be an alternative to the $10 pp price of a taxi to Red Hook - or you could do it like we did and take the taxi THERE and the bus back. We had to go out to the road to catch the bus - just follow the locals!
