How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Breakfast was poor. Not keen on the room decor. Does very much resemble a ship but a very dated ship. I feel for the cost the rooms should be updated and more toiletries. Molton brown is advertised on the website and on the TV in reception however I never saw any anywhere. Also the toilets in reception had an awful sewage smell.
Nice and clean. Great location for the Excel. Staff very friendly. Looks great from the outside. Great views

In the breakfast, a male head of restaurant made a member of a restaurant staff cry next to me. Not appreciated management at all. Felt sorry for the lady.
A location next to the ExCel is plus. The same yacht hotel was also in Finland earlier.

Unfortunately on the days of our stay the lifts were broken and had to use the stairs with luggage. Breakfast serving could have been more attentive and more utensils for the food.
Excellent location, great aesthetics room was very comfortable.

It’s shame the room was cold and the lift not working. The management did their best in the circumstances.
The breakfast had a lot of choice a combination of full English and continental.

There is nothing to do at the hotel. Entertainment in the evening would be great. Not being able to smoke on the balcony attached to your room.
The staff all really attentive and friendly. The view was great as we had a river view room. The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up.

Brilliant unique hotel experience in London. The rooms were very large with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was hot and the sausages amazing, best outside Lincolnshire!
Breakfast is good but get there early or be prepared to que. Everything else was really very good. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Location is great for excel and tube to central London is no issue.

That hallways had room service out side someone room for most my stay so had to walk past it all the time. Did not get told event was on the day I turned up so could not go to certain areas. Then got told only bottle beer as draught not working. So a little let down with that on cost of hotel.

Breakfast let the hotel down slightly, we came to breakfast well within the 7-10 time slot but the food wasn't replenished so minimal choice, coffee machines weren't working and not really any staff checking things were okay. We had to find somewhere for coffee off the ship.
Lovely hotel, staff were friendly and chatty. Room was larger than average.

Quiet, comfortable, everything was good, quality in every aspect
had 2 burger meals from room service not what expected poor portions for 40 pounds also no drinking water in room
The hotel was a lovely place. Staff members were very welcoming and professional. As specially, the manager at the dining room and manager of revenue was excellent Will definitely tell people about this wonderful hotel .We stayed for 2 nights and it was better than other big hotels that we have stayed before. Excellent location and excellent hospitality

I'm not sure why but even though the bathroom was super clean, it was smelly at times. Smelled like stagnant water, I assume something to do with it being a boat. It didn't cause any smell in the rest of the room.
Beautiful big comfortable room. The main staircase to the restaurant is so pretty. All the facilities were very clean. Good amount of tea/coffee supplies in room. I really appreciate that the staff left me extra water when they cleaned my room. Breakfast is all normal buffet fare. Standard but sufficient. I didn't eat in the restaurant, but I had room service. It was very tasty and prompt in arrival.

Staff thought they were better than everybody else and really everyone on the boat was same thought it was meant for people with a bit more money but lots of Jaffs

Nothing I can really comment on. Yes it's expensive but it's a luxury hotel and MCM Comic Con was on.
Room was tidy on arrival and every day I came back to tidy room and the complimentary water restoked. The room was spacious and the added balcony was a bonus. Bathroom was spotless and even though I put towels back onto the rail I would always come back to reorganised towels. The location was the most important part for me and getting to and from excel centre was extremely easy and quick.

Hotel Rooms
Hotel review.
Moored in the trendy Royal Victoria Dock, Sunborn might look like a decommissioned cruise ship, but in fact it was purpose built as a hotel and has never sailed at all. Step inside though, and you’d think you were about to drift off across the oceans to other lands. Wood panelling and the swish spiralling grand staircase with chandelier, evoke feelings of luxury travel and lead you into the Lands End Restaurant where attentive servers bring out slow roasted rump of lamb and lobster tagliatelle. Enjoy twists on classic cocktails, like the Cherry Martini, in the Sundown Bar and take in the nightscapes out on the terrace. Then retire to your spacious cabin complete with balcony overlooking the river.
