The children of Voiles de l’Espoir at the Yacht Club de Monaco

TURIN, Italy, June 21, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A stopover at the Yacht Club de Monaco and in the heart of the Principality. A hundred children in remission from cancer and leukaemia aboard 50 boats are sailing along the French Riviera for a week. On Wednesday 19th June, these young sailors aged 8 to 14 called into the YCM Marina for 24 hours. After 730 days of preparation the 12th Voiles de l’Espoir, sponsored this year by Christian Millette from the TV ‘Dance avec les Stars’ show, got underway on Sunday 16th June from Saint-Raphaël. Thursday morning the fleet headed back out to sea to sail from Monaco to Golfe-Juan for another port of call full of memories.

In Monaco the children attended the changing of the guard followed by a visit to the Palace hosted by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, then a lap of the famous F1 circuit in cars provided by Automobile Club de Monaco members. An emotional day ended with workshops at the Yacht Club de Monaco before a Princesses and Princes Pirates party. “We were so lucky to get into the Yacht Club” beamed a delighted Baptiste, age 13. “This adventure has been nothing but happiness as at home we only think about how little we can do, while here we don’t think about our illness and that’s really, really nice”.

Organised every two years, this 100% volunteer meeting is the largest nautical event in the world for children in remission. It is thanks to the 400 adults who are mobilised to accompany and support 100 young patients from all walks of life (France, Morocco, Israel, Luxembourg, Belgium Switzerland) for a week. Already more than 1,000 youngsters have benefited from this wonderful initiative since it started 20 years ago. Most of the children have undergone intensive chemotherapy or a bone marrow transplant and for the majority this is their first outing outside their medical and family situation. This unique experience is organised in such a way that every child regains their self-confidence which is so often dented by illness.

Yacht Club Games Reveals New Shovel Knight Updates Including A Brand New Game

Yacht Club Games hosted its own Direct-style presentation today, primarily to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Shovel Knight. As such, the event featured various Shovel Knight-related announcements, including the reveal of a brand-new game.

This new Shovel Knight game has no title and was not shown, but Yacht Club confirmed it’s in development. It also hinted that various clues about the nature of this title can be found in other Shovel Knight games, such as Shovel Knight Dig, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. 

The studio also states, “We're committed to crafting an experience that not only honors the Shovel Knight legacy but also pioneers groundbreaking, innovative gameplay mechanics. This isn't just another sequel - it's a bold new adventure that will launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming.”

We’ll have to wait to see what this new game is, but the studio did reveal an enhanced version of the original game called Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX. This is essentially the definitive edition of the 2014 indie classic, featuring 20 new playable characters, a rewind function, save states, online multiplayer, cheats, and more. Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX has no release window or announced platforms. As for smaller updates, Yacht Club announced free DLC for Shovel Knight Dig (its final content pack) and Pocket Dungeon.

Yacht Club also provided an update for Mina the Hollower , its upcoming action-adventure game. A new trailer offers a montage of gameplay, and Yacht Club states the project is “nearing completion of the initial pass on all level content.” It plans to spend the next few months polishing and refining gameplay. Yacht Club reveals that the game has grown larger than expected since its reveal in 2022; it now features an “expansive” overworld and RPG elements. The studio says to expect a big gameplay reveal in the near future.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Great Kills Yacht Club was founded in 1906 to promote, foster, and facilitate boating and further social exchanges among its members and the boating community.

According to a GKYC member and a guest’s visit log in 2021, some of the Great Kills history includes stories that during prohibition in the 1920s, “wealthy people from NYC would come to Great Kills on Staten Island to drink illegal alcohol at the yacht club.” This proved to be a very lucrative business for the yacht club. After prohibition ended, the revenue stream of unlawful alcohol dried up, and people went elsewhere to imbibe.

Owned by Chuck Bond. I'd definitely say its one of the best places to live in Moscow. It's just off campus, affordably priced, and 'round the clock maintenance and speedy response to any issues.
