Vitters 33m Inouï

Superyacht Vitters Inoui

The Sailing Superyacht Inouï- In Any Language It Is Exciting.

When the Sailing Superyacht Inouï makes port or passes you in a Superyacht regatta she will get your attention. The French name translates to WOW -Exciting- Amazing and once you see her, you will never forget her. A portion of the impression is because of her unique lines, she has a familiar but distinctly different look to her and of course there is her hull with a custom designed bright green color. Among the few non-traditional color hull yachts is the Gliss, a turquoises colored 32 meter Royal Huisman-built sailing yacht. The Gliss was designed by the Naval Architectural firm of Philippe Briand, and that is who the owner of the Gliss decided would design his new yacht, Inouï. The Dutch builder Vitters Shipyard was selected to build the Inouï. This builder started in 1990 building hulls and in 1993 built its first yacht. One of its first Superyachts was the 48.5 meter (160 ft) Thalia, one of the largest yachts in the world when she was built. The legacy of those first Superyachts continues and the yard has an outstanding reputation. In 2010, Vitters Shipyard bought the U.K. Ship builder Green Marine. Green Marine was founded in 1982 and is the leader in carbon fiber boat construction. The company has built more than 160 composite boats, including some particularly high profile race designs. Green Marine is also the leader in the highly specialized sector of building carbon fiber hulls and structures for Superyachts. Green Marine was tasked with building the hull and structures for the Inouï.

Award-Winning Nautical Design

The 33 meter long, Sloop rigged, cruiser racer draws inspiration from classic styling of old, blended in a modern look of elegant but powerful lines. Yachts of the 60's inspired a moderate beam of 6.90 meters. A plum line bow common in yachts of the last decade retrogrades to a 1980's racing yacht's reverse transom with a long slope. The yachts of the 90's contribute a coach roof with quite simple lines to the overall mix. Being a cruise racer, the rigging was critical, so what better choice but for a rigging inspired by Philippe Briand's own design of the 2007 America's Cup. The hull design itself differs as it used a trapezium shaped bulwark. The hull was molded in two parts with the joint line just under the water level. The bottom section, including keel tower, was built in one mold. The topsides of the hull and deck were built separately as a second piece. The overlap where the two portions join provides extra protection in an area prone to damage. The final result was so impressive that the Inouï won a Judges Special Award for "Advanced Design and High Quality Construction" at the 2014 World Superyacht Awards...

Inoui Crowned Winner at Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta

Inoui Crowned Winner at Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta

June 10, 2023 - Porto Cervo, Italy -   On the fourth and final day of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta , the forecast breeze failed to arrive on the race course. As the expected westerly wind did not materialise in the late morning, the Race Committee postponed the start for both the Superyacht and Southern Wind divisions several times, right up until 1.30 p.m., when the Committee Boat was forced to signal that there would be no further racing.

The classification remained, therefore, unchanged compared to yesterday, with Inoui , a 108-footer owned by Switzerland's Marco Vogele, claiming the Silver Jubilee Cup , reserved for the winner in the Superyacht Cruising Class . In second place, just two points behind was the Baltic 108 Win Win , and in third place - four points behind the victor - was the 33-metre Pattoo . Marco Vogele also took home the YCCS Trophy for the top-scoring member of the Club in the event.

Chris Main , tactician on Inoui : “We had very close racing between us, Pattoo and Win Win, in the Cruising Class all three races were decided by just a few seconds, which made everything much more fun. Today we felt we had the chance to win the Combined Class as well, where we were second, on equal points with V, but racing wasn’t possible.”

The Inoui crew celebrate their victory, Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta 2023

With the WallyCento V and Inoui sitting on equal points in the Combined Performance & Cruising Class , the tie was broken on countback. With two races won, V therefore triumphed over Inoui, with Win Win in third place, two points behind.

Ben Bartlett , owner's representative on V : “We’ve had a fantastic week with excellent weather conditions and surprising results for us. As the first regatta for this new programme we weren’t expecting amazing things, our main focus was on building a new team and looking ahead to the next events this year. The win was an unexpected bonus.

In the Southern Wind division , no classifications were drawn up, in recognition of the non-competitive spirit of the Rendez-vous. At the awards ceremony, the CCO of the shipyard, Andrea Micheli, and Commercial Manager Jeremy Peek presented prizes to the SW94 Aragon for the best manoeuvres, Sørvind for the best start and Egiwave for having most fully embraced the spirit of the Southern Wind Rendez-vous. In addition, the SW100 #01 Starfall was presented with a special award in memory of Willy Persico, founder of the Southern Wind shipyard.

As part of the pathway to making its events increasingly sustainable, the YCCS has obtained the Clean Regattas Gold level certification issued by Sailors for the Sea for the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta. Among the actions implemented to achieve this goal, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda employed MarkSetBot robotic buoys, which hold their position thank to an electric motor working in tandem with a GPS system, eliminating the need for anchors on the seabed.

YCCS Commodore Michael Illbruck : “On the basis of our common values, together with Giorgio Armani we have plans to create a superyacht event that is even better than what we have achieved to date. I would like to thank the owners and crews, and everyone else who made this edition of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta possible.”

The next regatta scheduled will be The Nations Trophy – Swan One Design from 19th to 24th June.

Special Report: Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup

The Greening of Superyachts

inoui yacht owner

By Chris Museler

  • Sept. 1, 2016

The gleaming, fluorescent-green topsides of the superyacht Inouï may scream luxury at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup starting on Sunday. But this 108-foot sloop represents a growing standard in superyacht racing, where the sweet spot is just over 100 feet, with couture interiors disguising precision carbon-fiber construction.

Expenses are rarely spared in this world of superyachts. The parties at the Rolex Cup’s host, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, along the Mediterranean waters of Porto Cervo, Sardinia, rival the most magnificent gatherings in Cannes and Saint-Tropez, two other seaside havens in the region.

There is a recent undercurrent of change in this rarified community, however. Many coming to Porto Cervo for the racing next week are trying to prove that luxury isn’t always excess by creating more efficient designs and managing their events and yachts in a more sustainable way.

“We feel, as a club, that we carry a responsibility to promote the sport to the younger generation,” said Jan Pachner, the secretary general of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. “But it goes hand in hand with the environmental concerns.”

Costa Smeralda’s board, like those of many clubs around the world, will be voting this fall on a series of sustainability proposals that will change the way the Porto Cervo clubhouse and the club’s Virgin Gorda station in the Caribbean are managed and run. Already the club has worked to eliminate single-use water bottles and other disposable items often featured at event parties. Beach cleanups, including one last month before the Rolex Cup, are now regular fixtures on the calendar.

Pachner said last week that the environment was not a consideration when the club was created 50 years ago.

“Now we agree at every board meeting it’s at the top of the list and urgent,” he said.

The club had considered partnering with a large organization specializing in helping to create a sustainability plan, but members decided to “walk the talk” themselves and redirect the club’s goals toward sustainability.

The club does not own the marina it uses in Porto Cervo, but the board has begun addressing day-to-day practices to increase recycling and to reuse food waste from events.

In Virgin Gorda, the club is building its own marina and will be one of the first facilities in the Caribbean to have a “no pump-out policy,” requiring all visiting yachts to use holding tanks for waste. The club will provide pump-out stations, such as those found in many harbors in the United States and Scandinavia. Pachner said the club is hoping harbor managers in the Mediterranean will do the same.

Costa Smeralda was convinced to move forward on changes relating to sustainability by a visiting fleet of racers in the 52 Super Series in June. The series showcases professional teams racing the most technically and physically challenging monohull yachts in the world and it has a partnership with 11th Hour Racing, an organization that promotes sustainability and ocean-health awareness in sailing. As a result, the series requires teams to not only reduce their carbon footprints and waste, but also to work with host club’s around the Mediterranean to do the same in the running of their events.

Sailors in the Super Series have made pledges to 11th Hour Racing to share resources, using shuttle buses or their own bicycles to get around a venue. Portable water filtration systems are used to fill personal water bottles. And all race documents are digital.

Pachner believes the impact of changing their practices at regattas goes further than just influencing those who race in Porto Cervo. “How many people you reach in a sailing season produces quite an impact,” he said.

There will be 800 sailors on the 65 yachts racing at the Rolex Cup and the Maxi 72 World Championships next week. Other regattas can bring 3,000 sailors to the club for a week-long event.

Although Pachner and 11th Hour are receiving support and praise for their sustainability efforts, quantifying the impact is a common challenge.

“Measuring sustainability is a tough issue,” said Alison Miller, who runs the Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Earth Institute. “And defining sustainability is vague.”

She said that the term can refer to social issues and governance, or just pure environmental sustainability.

“We are in the early stages of development,” said Miller, who brings together climatologists and energy engineers to solve complex sustainability problems. “People are doing the best they can, trying to measure their impact.”

She said many different indicators and quantitative metrics are used to measure sustainability efforts, though there is no standard. What Pachner and 11th Hour are doing, she said, tying initiatives to the strategic goals and the mission of their organizations, makes measuring impact tangible and useful.

“If you’re measuring just to measure and be transparent,” Miller said, “that’s not making progress.”

Philippe Briand, Inouï’s designer and one of the most sought-after superyacht architects, sees the trend toward higher-performance luxury yachts as a move in the right direction for sustainability.

“All of these yacht owners are concerned about waste and resources,” said Briand, who has designed America’s Cup contenders and cutting-edge ocean racers. “When an owner is building a sailing yacht, he has already reduced the carbon impact using wind. The main thing today is to use the sails more than the engine.”

He said construction of superyachts shifted from aluminum to carbon less than a decade ago, as owners became more competitive and events began to spring up around the Atlantic. This shift allows him to utilize the philosophies he developed when designing boats for solo around-the-world races, he said.

In 1989, Briand designed a 60-footer, Fleury Michon X, for Philippe Poupon to compete in the inaugural Vendée Globe, a spectacular challenge to race solo and non-stop around the world. These boats pushed the limits of self-reliance, using wind turbines and solar panels to help a diesel engine generate energy to power autopilots and navigation equipment for more than 100 days at sea. Today, power generation on Vendée Globe boats has virtually eliminated the need for diesel-powered electricity generation.

“If we go this way further with performance,” Briand said, “at some point we may capture the energy of the movement of the boat powered by the wind and become self-sufficient even with the hotel inside.”

In addition to small wind turbines and solar panels, Briand said hydro power generation is being considered in luxury yachts, including in a new project he has started that puts as much priority on renewable-energy sources as on the ornate, wood-paneled salons used for entertainment below decks.

It is hard to believe that owners of superyachts will be happy with the solar-panel-cluttered decks and buzzing wind turbines of the Vendée Globe boats that Briand is hoping to emulate. But he said consuming less energy could be more attractive than one may think.

“More than we believe the owners are open to optimizing their own comfort,” he said, “they are practical. Sometimes they are not keen on having such luxuries. If the design is correct and right, in a simpler way, I think the new owner will invest and play with these new forms.”

Always at the forefront of design, Briand said the fleet of new giants racing in the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup are bringing in a new era. “Plenty of new ideas are waiting, for sure we are not at the end,” he said. “More and more, we go forward. And more and more, we are at the beginning.”

In Game Description [ edit | edit source ]

As a member of karbyshev's cabinet [ edit | edit source ].

What can be said of Dmitry Timofeyevich Yazov, the protégé to the Black League's founder? Born in a backwater town near Omsk to a peasant family, Dmitry joined the Red Army at the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War at just seventeen. When the Germans caused the complete and utter rout of the Red Army, Dmitry was forced to make his way back to West Siberia and drawn to the new strength of Kaganovich's West Siberian People's Republic.

However, like many military men in West Siberia, a black coal of hate formed in Yazov's heart for the Germans for what they had done to his Motherland. His dedication to the defence of Russia drew the eye of Dmitry Karbyshev, the general who would go on to break with Kaganovich and form the Black League. Dmitry, liking Yazov's intelligence and fanaticism to the cause of saving the motherland, took him in as his personal protégé. This caused Yazov to go with his mentor to Omsk when they finally declared independence from Kaganovich, and he became the right hand man to the older man.

However, Yazov holds nothing but contempt for what he sees now. The people all around Karbyshev only pretend to believe in the cause of the Black League, using their mantle to do whatever the hell they please with Karbyshev too powerless to stop it. He swears to himself that he will make the old man proud, that Karbyshev's dream of a final Great Trial with the Germans defeated once and for all. After all, he is Dmitry Yazov, and he will make sure his mentor's work was not in vain.

In Game Biography 1960s [ edit | edit source ]

Dmitry Timofeyevich Yazov is part of a new generation of post-Soviet leaders: those born after the rise of Lenin, with no memories of the Tsar or the Great War. They knew hardship as children, but were told that this hardship was a necessary sacrifice for the Motherland's survival. When the Nazis came swarming from the west, they fought on the front lines under the Red Army, witnessing hell on earth and suffering bitter defeat again and again. When the Great Patriotic War was over, what little happiness they had in their former lives was taken from them by the victorious Germans. The West Russian Revolutionary Front's military failures and subsequent collapse in the 1950s only made men like Yazov more set in their ways: the old Soviet commanders had fervor, but the leadership desperately needed some fresh blood. Younger men, harder men, those who were taught from birth about the value of sacrifice and have witnessed it firsthand. With Comrade Karbyshev having passed before his vision was complete, the burden now falls to his protégé Dmitry Yazov to carry it out. Unlike his former mentor, Yazov has both the will and the stamina to implement it, and is already transforming the entire nation to be ready for a form of total war more destructive than any the world has ever seen. He expects his people to sacrifice everything they have, including their lives, to help achieve revenge against the German menace, and many of them will gladly do so. Nothing, not even the threat of atomic fire, will be enough to deter him from his course, and he frequently boasts that if all Germans and all but one Russian perish in the coming war, it will still be a victory. Omsk is stirring from its slumber, and the world trembles at the thought.

In Game Biography 1970s [ edit | edit source ]

Dmitry Yazov looks upon his handiwork, a strong and hard Russia preparing eagerly for revenge, and smiles pridefully.

Yazov and his comrades had known hardship as children; they were told that the hardship was a necessary sacrifice for the Motherland's survival. But failures of the Great Patriotic War and the West Russian War first broke the minds of Yazov and his ilk, as they realized how futile it had all been. Then it led them to conclude that the leadership of the Russian people needed to be in the hands of young, hard men who had been taught well about sacrifice and knew it firsthand.

Comrade General Karbyshev, founder of the Black League, suffered death and was buried before his vision was complete; it fell, therefore, to his protégé Dmitry Yazov to carry that vision out. After subjugating West Siberia, defeating the liberal and old guard insurgency to secure his rule, and unifying the whole of Russia, Yazov was freed to begin his master work: that of transitioning all Russia into a state of readiness for a form of total war more destructive than any seen before.

Yazov now expects his people to sacrifice everything they have - even their lives - to achieve total revenge against the German menace, and more and more of them are willing to do so. Nothing, not even the threat of thermonuclear hellfire destroying civilization itself, will be enough to deter him from his course. Indeed, Yazov frequently boasts that if no Germans and only one Russian survive the coming Great Trial, it will still be a total victory.

The Great Trial approaches, and Yazov smirks as the opportunity for his revenge upon those that raped his homeland comes ever closer.

And "the lamps are going out all over Eurasia; we shall never see them lit again in our life-time."

Biography [ edit | edit source ]

Early life [ edit | edit source ].

Yazov was evacuated by Bukharin's USSR into Omsk prior to their capitulation during the Second World War. Experiencing deep sorrow and hate after witnessing Russia's destruction, he would grow up with his ambition to take revenge against the invading Germans.

Dmitry Karbyshev, which had escaped from Mauthausen concentration camp, oversaw the collapse of the West Russian Revolutionary Front, moved back to Omsk, where he established the Black League, taking Yazov under his wing. The Black League's thesis is a third confrontation with Germany, what they call the Great Trial. To be sure that his successors will always be prepared for it, Karbyshev created Plan Hydra, a precise line of succession, in case he dies.

However, Yazov grew to follow the vision of the Great Trial in mind, and so did his fellow officers. Fueled by hatred of the Germans, he believed making the Great Trial merely a defensive war would be an injustice to all the lives lost by their hands. As Karbyshev's health declines, and with him as the chosen successor, it is only a matter of time before the Great Trial becomes the day when Germany will feel Russia's total revenge.

Post West Siberian Unification [ edit | edit source ]

After the unification of West Siberia in game, Pavel Batov, will launch his resistance against Yazov, seeing him as a psychopath who wants to destroy the world.

Trivia [ edit | edit source ]

  • After unifying Russia, the player has a 5% chance of getting a sunglasses version of Yazov's post unification portrait.
  • In OTL, Yazov was the Soviet Minister of Defense from 1987 to 1991. Yazov served in command of the Soviet Nukes in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He didn't want to destroy the world and Germany in OTL, but he was a brutal general, as he put down an Azerbaijani Revolt against the USSR, and a Baltic one before the dissolution of the USSR.

The owner of 35m sailing yacht Sojana Sir Peter Harrison explains how he’s still sailing and racing hard

My Life In Boats: On board 35m sailing yacht Sojana with owner Sir Peter Harrison

Sir Peter Harrison, owner of 35 metre sailing yacht Sojana, on how he’s still sailing and racing hard.

My first experience of sailing was in the UK when I was 15. Our Scout leader had the idea of going out on the Norfolk Broads, a series of canals and lakes. We had 10 minutes of instruction on these two-man, 5.4 metre Whippets and then left to get on with it. Fortunately, we figured it out and that sparked a lifelong passion for sailing.

I started the design for my 35 metre sailing ketch Sojana in 1999 with New Zealand designer, Bruce Farr. The boat had about five iterations, mainly around the layout. He charged me a fixed price for the design and ultimately said, “You’ve run out of money!” I was willing to pay until I got what I was happy with and the pleasing thing about the design is that we have been winning competitions all over the world. Sojana is named after my three grandchildren: Sophie, James and Natalie.

My favorite regatta is Antigua Sailing Week. We won the race in 2011, 2018 and 2019 and will be competing again this year, before crossing the Atlantic for the Porto Cervo regatta. I am on the boat for all these regattas – I want to be on board, even if I can’t move around the boat as well as I used to.

We have won a lot of trophies, but I think the one that sticks out was competing across the Atlantic for the first time. There were 32 other boats in the race and we won, crossing in 16 days and 10 hours in my 16.1 metre Hallberg-Rassy, Russe Noir . I have since won three other transatlantic races, the last one in 2013 on Sojana, completing the race in nine days and 10 hours, but your first is always the most memorable.

I took a calculated risk and invested in the telex business in 1978, and we ultimately helped to found the internet in the UK. The profit from the sale of the company fronted my other ambitions, which were sailing and charity.

The Brits had not been in the America’s Cup for 16 years and I thought I had enough money to have a go in 2000. Once was enough, but it was a fantastic experience. I also created the Peter Harrison Foundation which focuses on education, disabled sailing and Paralympic sports. Our Peter Harrison Heritage Foundation rebuilt the 1786 Clarence House in Antigua and in 2013 I was knighted by the governor-general of Antigua  and Barbuda.

I am 82 years old now and have been fortunate to have an exciting and sophisticated life. In business and life, I refer to my five Ds: desire, drive, determination, dedication and discipline. This doctrine has served me well.
