The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

The view of the harbor was amazing and the experience of the tall ship was one of a kind. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and always available to help. We also loved the relaxing pace of the sail.

It was just wonderful. My husband got to help raise the two large sails. I really enjoyed that we actually sailed around the harbor. The engine was only used for leaving and returning to the wharf. The crew was awesome.

We danced with strangers, sang, laughed and had a wonderful time! I don't plan on having another bachelorette party, but if I do, I'd do this again! 6/5 stars!

We loved seeing Boston this way. The sunset was beautiful and the crew was friendly. My only regret is that we didn’t do the longer cruise.

You may have noticed a new launch driver last fall. Arial has joined Alex, Alex, and Katrina in sharing  launch driving duties for the 2023 season. In addition to having a coast guard license for launch operations, Arial is an FAA certified flight instructor in addition to being a commercial pilot.

This is our 49th year of business, we look forward to keeping the great sport of sailing alive in Boston for current and future generations with an expanding fleet of diverse yachts, superior sailing instruction, and a commitment to customer service that has made the company successful all these years. The Boston Harbor Sailing Club was founded in 1974 with a few small, borrowed and owed boats at a time when Boston Harbor and the downtown wharves were a dark shadow of what they are today. New and refurbished buildings replaced old structures, new marinas replaced derelict pilings, and best of all, the clean water we all paid for is here to stay.

Today the Club has 70 boats 23-41 feet in length and two locations – Boston and  Westport. Though primarily a membership club and sailing school, all Club services are open to the public. We rent sailboats to visitors and past members and moorings for transient and seasonal use.

The Club looks back with pride to the thousands we have introduced to the sport of sailing, many who have made it a lifetime endeavor, including several members and students who have sailed around the world, or made numerous ocean passages. The company takes pride in knowing we were here at the beginning, the first club in Boston Harbor to making sailing accessible to the public.

Great afternoon trip with Captain Edward! It was exactly what we were looking for and will definitely go on another trip on this boat! Captain Edward was very accommodating with our pickup request. The boat was clean and well maintained. He was very knowledgeable of the local waters and was enjoyable for us and our friends to spend the afternoon with. Jimmy and Wanda were absolutely amazing! My friends and I highly recommend them. We booked them for a few hours for my bachelorette and brought hot dogs and burgers and jimmy cooked them for us so that we could relax and hangout and spend time with each other without having to worry about a thing! They made sure we were all set multiple times through the experience and were extremely accommodating to any and every request. The boat was very clean and well maintained, and Spectacle Island was beautiful! They know all of the good spots and were very knowledgeable in the history of the island(s). We would 100% do this again and book for even longer next time!

Had such a great experience with Edward. It was our girls bachelorette and we have such a memorable time. Even though we were late, he still took his time to show us around Boston and gave us the space to play our favorite songs and have such a good time.

2. Half-day sail around the Islands: A sailor's experience and a tour of the past.

 This tour will take you on the picturesque old sailing route around the islands. You will be able to take the helm and discover how to sail our traditional cutter ketch (2 masts and 4 sails)  You will get to see the unchanged stone fortresses and the spectacular coastline up close.

3. Two-hour private harbor sail: Available Morning, afternoon, and sunset.

Our boat is part of local naval history

• Our boat Francesca was designed in Boston by John G. Alden Co (1909-2008)
• She is a 37-foot cutter Ketch (2 masts and 4 sails) with a clipper bow, a very traditional design. The boat's plans were recently donated to the MIT Museum in Cambridge.
• Francesca, originally designed for ocean crossing, has been reconfigured to take passengers comfortably and fitted with an extra spacious cockpit.

• Our sailing season runs from Marathon Day on April 15 through the Beautiful New England leaf season in the fall. This period offers the most pleasant weather and ideal sailing conditions allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the area fully.
