After legal storm, Christensen yachts setting sail

Longtime vancouver company moving to tennessee after settling three-year legal dispute in late january.

The exterior of Christensen Shipyards is seen here on Friday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2019.

For more than 30 years, the Christensen yacht company made its home inside a 180,000-square-foot warehouse in Vancouver’s Columbia Business Park, tucked between Highway 14 and the Columbia River. Workers in the facility’s 12 assembly bays manufactured some of the most luxurious vessels money can buy, and the company made a name for itself as one of Vancouver’s homegrown success stories.

But later this year, Christensen yachts — officially called Christensen Shipyards, LLC — will move to Tellico Lake, Tenn., and the Vancouver facility will become a new home for Vigor Industrial, which plans to manufacture a new type of landing craft for the U.S. Army called the Maneuver Support Vessel (Light).

The deal was announced Feb. 1 and caps a series of tumultuous years for the Vancouver yacht builder, which at its peak employed nearly 500. The move to Tennessee will leave the company well-positioned to adapt to the latest trends in the yacht industry, according to President Jim Gilbert.

The current structure limits the size of the company’s yachts to 50-meter hulls, he said, but the yacht market has shifted in the past three decades, and 50-meter hulls are now considered to be medium-sized.

The Tennessee facility can accommodate hulls up to almost 70 meters, according to the company’s website, and the Vancouver facility’s bays are an ideal size for Vigor to build the 100-foot MSV(L) landers. Vigor said it plans to start with 130 workers and ramp up to 400 after a few years.

“The property is ideally suited for what Vigor is going to be doing, so it’s a win-win for Vancouver,” Gilbert said.

The Tennessee shipyard is about 90 percent complete, according to Christensen yachts owner Henry Luken, and will require about two months of construction to be made operational.

“It’s got complete bays that are essentially finished,” he said.

Christensen yachts currently employs about 70, Gilbert said, and all of them are being offered the chance to stay with the company at their current salary if they will move to Tennessee. Several have already agreed, according to Luken. But before that can happen, the company still has two yachts to finish at the Vancouver site.

One of the yachts is expected to be completed in a matter of weeks, Gilbert said, while the other will need to be brought to a point where it can be outfitted with motors, launched onto the Columbia River and sailed out to the Pacific Ocean, through the Panama Canal and back up to the Tennessee facility to finish the interior.

“The actual handover (of the shipyard) is at the end of June, beginning of July,” Gilbert said. A Vigor spokesperson described the handover date as “late spring.”

The two companies are still discussing the particulars of the transition, Gilbert said. Christensen yachts has begun packing its hardware to be trucked to Tennessee, though some of it is still needed for construction, and Vigor may also want to purchase and retain some of it.

Another detail that’s still being worked out, according to Vancouver economic development director Chad Eiken: a separate business entity called Christensen Group, Inc. has a long-term lease on a nearby city-owned marina to use as a launch point, and the Christensen yacht company has a sublease.

The parties will need to work out a deal to end the sublease and allow Vigor to take over the main lease, Eiken said, and the city will want to make sure the fire department retains access to the marina, which houses the city’s fireboat. The discussions are moving forward smoothly, Eiken said Wednesday.

Legal battle

Vigor’s Feb. 1 announcement came four days after the resolution of a long-running lawsuit brought by Luken against former Christensen yachts co-owner Dave Christensen and members of his family, in which Luken sought to recoup losses that he claimed to have incurred as a partner in the business.

Dave Christensen founded the Christensen yachts company — then known as Christensen Shipyards, Ltd. — in 1985 and Luken was a co-owner from 2003 onward. In 2015, the company went into receivership and Luken bought the remainder of its assets and restarted it as a new business entity.

Christensen and his family separately owned the physical shipyard property through Christensen Group, Inc. and leased the facility to Christensen yachts. That arrangement continued after Luken restarted the yacht company.

Christensen yachts and its president, Gilbert, were not parties to the lawsuit, and he declined to discuss the legal battle.

Markowitz Herbold, a legal firm representing the Christensen family in the lawsuit, also declined to comment on the settlement, as did Dave Christensen’s stepson, Joe Foggia, who served as president of Christensen yachts until 2015.

“I can tell you that the Christensen family is delighted that Vigor is buying the shipyard,” said Kathy Maynard, Dave Christensen’s daughter. “It’s going to provide jobs for the community, which is what my dad would have wanted.”

Reached for comment last week, Luken offered a similar assessment.

“The community comes out a winner with Vigor coming in there,” he said.

Maynard and Dave Christensen’s brother Paul Christensen both referred further questions to the family’s lawyer, Casey Marshall, who also declined to comment, citing a non-disclosure agreement.

“All I can tell you is that it’s been settled,” he said.

The settlement details are not publicly available, but the complaints and responses filed by both parties earlier in the case shed some light on the grievances that drove the lawsuit. Most of the disagreements stemmed from differing claims about which party was calling the shots in the years leading up to the receivership.

Luken’s filings contended that the other Christensen yachts leaders defrauded customers — including Luken himself — out of millions of dollars via a “Ponzi-like scheme” in which they used money from new yacht orders to make up for funding shortfalls on previous orders, and that Luken was kept in the dark about the company’s business practices and its increasingly dire financial predicament.

The Christensen family’s filings described Luken as a “corporate raider,” and argued that he was aware of the company’s financial status and operations and used his leadership position and financial influence to force the company into a series of deals that benefited him personally while pushing Christensen yachts into bankruptcy, setting himself up to eventually buy the rest of the company.

Luken disputed that narrative in comments to The Columbian, noting that he lost his original investment in the company when it went into receivership, and had to pay additional money to buy it back.

“Why would I destroy the value of something I owned half of?” he said. “I didn’t make them do anything. How could I? All the boats in the yard belonged to customers.”

Partnership

The parties’ narratives in their legal filings align on a number of details about Christensen yachts’ history, business transactions and the circumstances that led to Luken joining the company.

Because of the time and cost to build a yacht, and the small pool of buyers, the company usually couldn’t get bank loans to finance projects. Most yachts were sold in advance, with ongoing operations financed by the buyer’s down payment and subsequent installment payments during the construction process, which led to inconsistent revenue over the years.

Luken met Dave Christensen in 1997 when he purchased a yacht from Christensen yachts. In 2003, Luken bought 50 percent of the company’s stock, with the remaining shares split between Christensen and his family. Luken joined Dave Christensen and Joe Foggia on the board of directors.

The filings from the two parties disagree about what happened next.

The Christensens’ filings allege that in exchange for the opportunity to buy into the company, Luken agreed to provide ongoing financing for the construction of “spec boats” — yachts built without a buyer lined up in advance. The family viewed the arrangement as a way for the company to achieve long-term financial stability.

Luken’s description of the agreement is similar, both in his own filings and his comments to The Columbian, but he said he expected his deposits to be held in trust while the boats were built. Instead, he said, they were spent on company operations and expenses, including a series of large bonuses awarded to Foggia, and some of the money later appeared to be simply missing.

The Christensens disputed that assertion and argued that though the agreement did result in the construction of several boats in the following few years, Luken treated them as his personal property and demanded large commissions for each sale, diminishing the company’s revenue.

Luken began construction of the Tellico Lake shipyard in his home state of Tennessee in 2006, with the goal of eventually opening an eastern division of Christensen yachts with the capacity to build larger vessels. But progress on the new shipyard was halted in 2008.

“For 10 to 12 years, the plan had been to move the large (hull) production to Tennessee,” Gilbert said. “The sheds were built and all the concrete was poured, the roof was on, and then construction stopped with the Great Recession.”

The economic downturn also hit the company’s Vancouver operation, eventually forcing the company to lay off up to 80 percent of its local workforce, according to a 2011 Columbian story. Court filings from both parties indicate that in 2010, Christensen yachts struck a deal in which Luken’s friend, Forrest Preston, would purchase a new yacht, giving the company enough short-term funding to stay in business.

Again, the parties’ filings disagree about the details. The Christensens allege that the agreed-upon price for the new yacht was several million dollars less than what it would cost to build, and that Luken pressured Foggia into taking the deal; Luken says he simply introduced Preston and that Foggia negotiated the transaction and sale price.

The company continued to lose money, and the Christensen filings state that by 2014, Christensen Group Inc. had begun forgiving all of the Christensen yacht company’s rent payments in order to keep the Vancouver facility open.

According to a Feb. 9, 2015, Columbian story, in December 2014 and January 2015 multiple creditors had begun filing notices under the Uniform Commercial Code, which are used to declare claims of an interest in another party’s property as collateral for debts.

Receivership

On Feb. 9, 2015, workers arrived in the morning to find the shipyard closed and the gates locked.

In later court filings, Luken and the Christensens each blamed each other; Luken said the company had become unable to sustain its operations due to financial mismanagement, and the Christensens said Luken had deliberately cut off payroll funding in order to better position himself to buy the company. In comments to The Columbian, Luken said he had been unaware of the extent of the company’s financial trouble until the closure incident.

By 2010, Dave Christensen had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and was no longer able to participate as a board member, and the board deadlocked when Foggia and Luken disagreed about how to handle the situation. Dave Christensen died last year. Foggia wanted to declare bankruptcy, but Luken wanted to keep the company going.

On March 9, 2015, Luken filed a lawsuit in Clark County Superior Court asking for the company to be placed into receivership, a legal process in which control of the company would be turned over to a court-appointed professional who would develop a plan to repay its debts.

The court appointed Miles Stover to the position of general receiver on March 20, and in an April 29 declaration to the court, Stover stated that he had re-hired more than 70 employees and restored operations at Christensen yachts while he began to examine the situation and develop a plan.

On May 20, Stover filed a declaration stating that the best course of action to repay creditors would be to sell all of the company’s assets to a buyer who would be willing to keep operating it, and he recommended Luken.

Despite objections from the Christensens, the proposal was approved and Luken subsequently bought the Christensen yachts name and assets — including its long-term lease on the shipyard – for $5.5 million. Stover used the money to repay creditors, while in the meantime Luken re-formed Christensen yachts as a new business entity, now officially called Christensen Shipyards, LLC.

The receivership case continued until at least 2017, according to court records, but on Feb. 25, 2016, Stover reached settlement agreements with Luken and the Christensens in which both parties would be released from further claims by the receivership, but any of their own financial claims against the original Christensen yacht company would be subordinate to the claims of outside creditors.

On March 8, 2016, Luken filed a lawsuit in Clark County Superior Court against Joe Foggia, Dave Christensen, Christensen Group, Inc., and two other former Christensen executives alleging fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.

Luken alleged that the Christensens owed him millions of dollars for a variety of investments and transactions, including a $15 million credit for a yacht that he purchased but the company never delivered, and he noted that the settlement terms meant he likely couldn’t recover any money through the receivership process.

In their counterclaim, the Christensens argued that Luken understood the company’s financial practices and didn’t object until after the fact, and that he used his position on the board and his financial influence to push the company into receivership so that he could cheaply purchase its assets.

At the request of Foggia, the case was moved to the U.S. District Court for Western Washington. Dave Christensen’s wife Mary Christensen and daughter, Cindi Curtin, filed a separate lawsuit against Luken in May 2016, which was later folded into Luken’s case.

The case continued for more than two years, and then in August 2018 the parties filed a notice with the court that they had entered a private mediation and were moving toward a settlement agreement, and the court granted a request to remove all deadlines from the case calendar in order to give the parties time to finalize the details.

No new court records were filed until Jan. 28, 2019, when the parties notified the court that the matter had been settled and asked for the case to be dismissed. The court approved the request on Feb. 6, five days after Vigor Industrial announced that it had purchased the shipyard.

According to a Vigor spokesperson, the company is purchasing the shipyard from Christensen Group Inc. The settlement details are not public, so it’s unclear if the resolution of the Christensen yachts lawsuit was a direct prerequisite before the deal with Vigor could move forward, but Gilbert’s comments suggest that it was.

“We had hoped the settlement would make it possible to continue with the building of smaller boats in Vancouver,” he said, but added that the company will now be giving up the remainder of its lease on the property.

No members of the Christensen family would comment on the details of the settlement, but Luken said it included a lien on the shipyard property, and that he would receive approximately $5 million from the sale to Vigor.

Despite that, Luken said that his involvement with Christensen yachts still resulted in an estimated net loss of about $15 million for him, largely due to the yacht that was purchased but never delivered.

“My money did not get spent on building that boat,” he said.

Christensen Shipyards rolls last finished yacht out of Vancouver, Wash., facility

Employees at  Christensen Shipyards  in Vancouver, Washington, marked the end of an era on Wednesday when they rolled the last yacht out of the company’s manufacturing bay in the Columbia Business Park and down the road to the nearby marina for launch.

The luxury yacht-building company was founded in 1985 by Dave Christensen and has operated out of the Vancouver facility for the past 34 years, but current owner Henry Luken plans to move operations to a bigger shipyard in Tellico Lake, Tenn.

The Vancouver facility is slated to become a shipbuilding center for Portland-based company Vigor, which will use the site to manufacture a new type of landing vehicle for the U.S. army.

Vigor announced the deal in February, and both companies said the transition would take place in late spring, giving Christensen a few months to finish up work on two yacht hulls under construction at the Vancouver site and get them into the water.

In principle, the process of launching a yacht is much like launching any other boat — the vessel is mounted on a trailer, pulled by a truck and backed down a ramp into the water.

The key difference is that the Christensen yacht launching this week is five stories tall and weighs 740,000 pounds, mounted on a custom trailer frame that weighs another 135,000 pounds. It’s a slow and careful four-day operation.

“At this stage of the game, you don’t take a chance,” said Christensen Shipyards production manager Allen Bell, who was among the staff assisting in the operation.

Preparations began earlier this week while the yacht was still in the warehouse, Bell said. First the vessel — which bears the name Jackpot — was lifted by interior cranes so the trailer frame could slide underneath, then it was lowered into place and balanced with blocks along the edge of the trailer frame.

The move began at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in order to minimize traffic disruption. The 30-foot-wide trailer takes up the entire width of Marine Park Way, and even though the distance to the marina is less than half a mile, the journey takes about five hours.

At every turn or bump in the road, the rig has to stop so various sets of wheels under the trailer can be lifted or adjusted to compensate and keep the Jackpot perfectly level. With a vessel this size, any amount of tipping is bad news, Bell said.

The process is a collaboration between Christensen staff and moving contractor Omega Morgan. The trailer is pulled by an Omega Morgan truck designed specifically for slow and super heavy loads — it’s so low-gear that it’s usually towed to job sites rather than driven, Bell said.

The truck bed is stacked with a full load of giant concrete blocks, which push down on the tires to increase their surface area in contact with the road for better traction. A second truck is added when the trailer starts down the ramp, Bell said, to counteract the boat’s enormous weight on the downhill slope.

Only about six Christensen staffers were on the ground helping Omega Morgan with the move, Bell said, but dozens of others worked on the logistics behind the scenes to make sure it all went smoothly. The yacht represents more than 300,000 work hours, he said, so everyone wants to be involved.

“The whole company launches it,” Bell said. “It’s always been like that. It’s special to everybody up there.”

The crew pulled the Jackpot past the ramp entrance at about 9 a.m. Wednesday and then backed it up to the edge, Bell said. They spent most of the day outfitting the rear of the trailer with a pair of “floats” — giant boxy structures that will enter the water first when the yacht is backed down the ramp, giving the entire assembly more buoyancy.

The floats are essential for summer launches when the Columbia River level is lower, Bell said. Without them, the trailer would run out of ramp before the stern of the boat could get deep enough into the water to float on its own.

The actual launch will take place on Friday or Saturday, Bell said, whenever the water level ends up being highest. Once the Jackpot is far enough out to float on its own, the crews will flood the interior of floats to make them sink. Then they’ll move the Jackpot out of the way and haul the trailer back up the ramp.

The yacht will remain in the marina while Christensen staff bring all of its hardware online, Bell said. Then it’ll be put through a series of tests on the Columbia River, followed by a two-day “endurance run” out in the Pacific Ocean before it’s finally delivered to the customer.

The Jackpot will be the last yacht to be fully assembled at the Vancouver shipyard. It’s also one of the largest the facility has ever produced; 165 feet long, 30 feet wide with a fuel capacity of 15,000 gallons, and equipped with an enormous array of features and systems — even an onboard sewage treatment plant.

“This boat’s a small city in and of itself,” Bell says.

One more unfinished yacht hull remains in the Vancouver assembly bay, but it’s been sold to an undisclosed buyer who will complete the construction process. The hull will be moved to the ramp and launched next week, according to Christensen staff, then either barged or towed by tugboat to its new home.

With an ominous black hull and metallic silver superstructure, it will certainly cast a shadow of curiosity at each port; if not a salute! Among other firsts; a raised coaming that starts at the bow and blends into the bridge, creating a uni-body effect. Among other firsts; all of the marble inside Odessa was completed 100% in-house, but it's the interior design that first comes to mind in this review. It's a radical departure from previous launches.

The builder’s recent range, the Custom Series, began with boats such as Barchetta , featured here on YachtForums, followed by "Marathon" and "Lady Joy". Then came Casino Royale , also featured on YachtForums. And soon, “Remember When” and “Liquidity III” will take to the sea. Christensen's all composite, vacuum infused construction is certified both ABSXA1-AMS & MCA classifications, built to cruise anywhere in the world. Dockwise optional.

Aboard her Sundeck, overlooking the raised swimming pool at center, a multitude of seating and entertainment choices await her voyagers: indoor, outdoor, bar or lounge, shade or sun, mirrored or apart; a vast sunbathing area with capacity for the entire crowd. Something from the bar, or perhaps a little seclusion in a quiet corner? In her sparkling overhead reflection, it seems it’s always double or triple party time on Odessa.

christensen yachts owner

Openly placed on her sundeck overlooking the bow, Odessa offers what appears to be simply a comfortable sunning couch, which it certainly is; but hold on, there’s a trick to her delusions of sun-bathing grandeur: Check her out below for a revealing surprise:

christensen yachts owner

Voila! Odessa opens her heart to hungry sun-baskers, offering multiple padded seats plus a centered table for afternoon to midnight snacks, or anytime outdoor party dining. This followed the owner’s desire for outside areas which are functional and well organized.

christensen yachts owner

A slightly different view of the integral, sun-chase combo; she’s always ready when you are. The owner prescribed these various outside areas for sunshine, and also shaded areas, for his guests. See "Details" following the review for more info.

Setting the stage for Odessa’s brilliant interior design theme, this shot of her aft deck is mirrored in the rectilinear pattern of furnishings, with satin finished woods, fine weather-proof cushioning, and straight line design. Color harmony and contrast is evident in aft deck design theme; boxy ultra modern, but comfy in all aspects.

Sheltered under the deck above, a protected overhead, yet in the open air. The trim, Armani Casa wood furniture – satin finished, weather proofed – welcomes diners while they revel in the view of island shores, away from it all. Those shimmering columns aren't just decorative, they add integral support to Odessa's overhead helicopter landing zone.

On the top deck: she presents restrained luxury, the artful elegance of grand style. Her Armani/Casa furnishings accent the atmosphere, previewed here in the Skylounge, reveals an almost strict linear mode, rather than a family at play; seemingly more in keeping with a corporate meeting conclave. Deep, plush couch seating contrasts with black walnut flooring.

Odessa’s step-down, skylounge bar, follows the L-angles found throughout the boat with a white onyx topped bar and chairs squared simply to the fashionable mode with darkened matrix grey set in the identical design.

An alternate view of her Skylounge with its attention-getting, infinite seating area lined with two coffee tables and fashionable club chairs; all handsomely soft lit in a squared-up setting.

Also on the top deck, immediately aft the helm, the Captain’s Quarters presents a double berth; along with a business desk. It also features a closet and ensuite head/shower. At any time, he is a mere one step, one doorway from full, hands-on pilotage.

christensen yachts owner

With easy access to the helm, the captain’s head/shower features booked matched, solid slab, portoro stone, with a large back lit wall mirror and brushed stainless drawer pulls. Notice the invisible drain sink and ultra-contemporary fixtures, all in keeping with a strict modular theme.

Three custom-embroidered helm seats stand ready on the bridge, overseeing Odessa’s completely equipped helm boasting every category of the latest communications gear, including SATcom, KVH Broadband Tracphone, Seatel 400s VSAT, Panasonic Telephone system, Furuno SSB and VHF, Erikson Cellular Quad Band, Raymarine Haler, Great Circle Network Access. Her Nav systems: Radar, Gyrocompass, Magsystems, Depth Sounders, GPS, Chart Plotters, Furuno Navtex with Printer; Night Vision Cameras by Ocean Systems, Zeus model. All systems: state-of-the-art.

Odessa’s architecturally clean, centrally located, carved wood staircase sweeps down in a semi-circular pattern from the Skylounge to the main deck and lower deck. Possibly the only curves to be found throughout the vessel.

christensen yachts owner

Entering the main salon from the aft, you are met with an established crisp, lineal pattern, suggesting a strict formality, still bearing a richness of tone in fabrics and leather upholstery that invites. Squared-off lighting fixtures echo windows and seating.

This alternate view of Odessa’s Salon emphasizes its richness of design in furnishings and choice of shades, accenting its mood towards restfulness and comfort. Deep carpeting adds to the soothing aura.

A spectacular, lighted aquarium displays a myriad collection of tropical fish and ocean life, providing a room separator between the salon and dining areas.

Viewers are divided after a boat owner shares what he considers good “boat etiquette” to guide guests this summer. Do you agree with the TikToker’s philosophy?

TikTok user 3 Finger Guy (@3.finger.guy) is a longtime boat owner who enjoys “boating, golf & family” as well as grilling. He posted a video from his boat that features an expletive-laden explanation of his boating principles. “It is the peak of boating season right now,” he says. “I like to invite friends and family out with us, and this is some etiquette that you need to know if you get invited on a boat this year.”

As far as 3 Finger Guy is concerned, there’s really only one main rule of boating: Don’t do “anything stupid” that is going to potentially mess up his good time. “And a surefire way to start the day off on a bad foot is if you don’t show up on time,” he says. “So, if I tell you that we are leaving at noon, that means the motor is on, and we’re untying the ropes, and we’re out.”

That means, according to 3 Finger Guy, that you’re already on the boat with your personal items stowed away properly, and you’ve gone to the bathroom and are otherwise ready to go. “And your a** is sitting down,” he says. “Because that means I showed up about an hour before you, taken the cover off, wiping down the boat, icing down my cooler. And I don’t want to sit there idle, sitting in the hot sun, waiting on you.”

Another pet peeve of 3 Finger Guy is when people get out on the water and tell him they’ve got to be back at a specific time. “That should have been established at the time of the invitation,” he says. “In fact, don’t even ask me what time we’re getting back because I don’t know. I’m coming back when I feel like coming back.”

If you do get out on the water with 3 Finger Guy and the trip is a quick two hours? “That’s a pretty good indication that you got on my f*cking nerves, and you’re not invited back. And I’m going to sit on my boat until I see your car leave the f*cking parking lot, and I’m going to continue on with my day,” he says.

In a follow-up video, 3 Finger Guy tackles boat owners who ask their guests to chip in money for fuel. “When you’re invited on my boat, I don’t want nor do I need your money,” he says. “I get it. Gas is very expensive on the water. It’s about twice as much as you’re going to pay on land. But I am a boat owner. I budget for that. I budget for my fuel like I budget for the mortgage for my house. I’m going to spend that whether you’re with me or not.”

@3.finger.guy #creatorsearchinsights #pontoon #boatlife #fireball #costa #3fingers #cinnatiktok #boattok ♬ original sound – 3 Finger Guy

In a third video , 3 Finger Guy discusses alcohol etiquette. This mainly involves bringing your own alcoholic beverages, as there are “no convenience stores on the water.” Additionally, he notes that you should bring cans and never bottles, including glass beer bottles, aluminum bottles, and wine bottles.

The three videos have amassed a combined 3.3 million views. In the comments, some viewers found 3 Finger Guy’s take spot on. Others said they would decline the invite. One viewer joked, “I just know this is directed at some extended family member.”

A second viewer said, “People who are making hate comments are the people who show up late and are the problem.”

A third viewer stated, “I’m coming, bringing a crisp $100 for gas and dock fees, a cooler, and no schedule.”

Someone else said, “Unc bought a small boat and went on a power trip.”

3 Finger Guy isn’t the only one who has put boating etiquette into words. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has its own list of unspoken rules for being out on the water. The list includes respecting the ramp, owning your wake, keeping music at a “decent” level,” and refraining from throwing trash overboard.

The Daily Dot reached out to 3 Finger Guy via TikTok comment and direct message for comment.

Four Seasons 1, the all suite yacht due to launch in 2026.

Travelers accustomed to Four Seasons style in design and service will have a chance to experience both at sea when Four Seasons Yachts sets sail in 2026. Earlier this year, the company announced its first 10 itineraries; earlier this week, it announced 13 more. All offer the land option of pre or post trips at the company’s resorts.

As Timothy Littley, VP of Itinerary and Planning at Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings LTD and co-owner/operator of Four Seasons Yachts explains, his intention was to design experiences that resonate deeply and truly express the spirit of adventure and discovery. "In our debut year, we're set to explore over 130 distinct destinations across more than 33 countries and territories,” he says. “My professional journey, alongside years of personal exploration, has been dedicated to understanding the nuances of these locales—their culture, their people, and the unique experiences they offer—to ensure we curate something truly extraordinary for our guests.”

The living room of the Loft Suite.

The first sailings are set for January,2026 heading to Croatia, Gibraltar, Montenegro, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Türkiye. The Mediterranean itinerary will also highlight Greek islands with stops in Athens, Ios, Santorini and Milos but not always in the usual way: arriving in the tourist favorite island of Santorini, for example, at 5 PM when the other cruise ships are leaving, allowing passengers to enjoy a less crowded island in the evening. Under the radar but islands also worth visiting such as Hydra and Naxos are also included. Caribbean sailings are also among the first itineraries traveling to Saint Barthélemy (St Barths), Nevis, the Grenadines, St Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Curaçao and Aruba. While there, passengers disembark to experience the nightlife of St Barths, Martinique’s volcanic coral reefs and lush rainforest landscapes and a sail in St Lucia’s Tobago Cays among other experiences.

The upper terrace of the Loft Suite

‘Perfect Match’ Season 2 Finale: Who Won And Which Couples Are Still Together?

The best movie of 2022 just hit netflix, single biggest trump campaign donation revealed: timothy mellon donates $50 million to maga pac.

Among the itineraries announced this week are five-, seven- and nine-night voyages that include legendary ports of call such as Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Capri, Positano, Taormina, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia plus lesser-known gems including Italy’s Portovenere, France’s Fréjus and Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Spain’s Ciutadella de Menorca and Malta’s Gozo. Offshore activities to truly experience the destination are being selected ranging from exploring the esteemed rosé vineyards in Bandol, France to truffle hunting in Viareggio, Italy.

The four level Funnel Suite.

The yacht, Four Seasons 1, is being constructed by renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri in Ancona, Italy and will contain 95 suites with modular walls that will allow 100 different connection options including reserving one side of a deck for a large family or group of friends traveling together. The largest accommodations are seven signature suites ranging from 2,981 to 9,975 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space offering two to three bedrooms, separate living rooms, indoor and outdoor dining space, splash pools, outdoor showers, and the option to connect to additional suites. The largest, the 9,975 square foot Funnel Suite, includes four levels of living space and floor to ceiling wraparound windows. All feature a design described by Fredrik Johannson, partner and executive director of Tillberg Design of Sweden as welcoming in the same way that the group’s resorts are but unique to the yacht. “It had to have this incredibly elegant aura to it without being over-the-top opulent,” he says. “To this end, we strove for a beautiful simplicity with the interiors.”

Elsewhere on the yacht are 11 dining options, spa and wellness offerings and a 65 foot long stern pool. Taking care of all are staff members on a 1:1 guest to staff ratio, along the lines of what Four Seasons regulars experience on land. And there will be at least 41 opportunities to experience it; that number of sailings at this point is planned for the first year; more may be added.

As with every Palm Beach fleet member, the PB85 is constructed using the yard’s proprietary V-Warp technology. The strong and efficient hull is a sandwich of foam, e-glass, and epoxy resin, while the streamlined superstructure is made from lightweight carbon fiber. The sleek exterior enhances overall performance, increasing range and improving fuel efficiency. In fact, the yard says its cruisers consume 70 percent less fuel than other yachts in their class.

Palm Beach 85 Sedan

The PB85 is pretty fast, too. Powered by Volvo Penta engines, the yacht has a cruising speed of 23 knots, a top speed of 26 knots, and a range of 200 nautical miles at 21 knots. Twin MAN V-8s result in a top speed of 27.5 knots, a cruising speed of 25 knots, and a range of 650 nautical miles.

“At Palm Beach, we’re constantly improving, innovating, pushing ourselves, and exceeding industry expectations—the PB85 is the result of countless hours of hard work by our entire team,” adds Richards. “I am extremely proud of what we’ve been able to achieve.”

No details regarding delivery, but fingers crossed the PB85 hits the seas soon.
