Hanse Fast Cruising

For years now, Hanse has been a trendsetter in simplifying sailing and making it faster. Hanse always stands for innovative design and continuous development of cruising sail boats. The hull shapes are developed with focus on performance and comfort. Hanse yachts hulls are further optimised by taking the latest research results in the field of hydrodynamics into account.

This reflects in the vertically designed bow and stern of all Hanse yachts, a feature that allows them to achieve a very long waterline and consequently a significantly increased hull speed. The sail-plan is also optimised. The mast is positioned further to aft, resulting in a larger surface of the self-tacking jib, which benefits performance in light winds. The surface areas of the main sail and jib are very well balanced and that translates into a balanced sailing performance.

Hanse Easy Sailing

Sailing Hanse yachts is incredibly easy thanks to the self-tacking jib and the fact that all the halyards, extensors and sheets are led to the helmsman position. We are not talking only about sheeting in and slackening of sails, but also setting or reducing sails. All this can be done easily from the wheel. Hanse models can be sailed easily with a small crew or even singlehandedly.

To achieve the best performance, the sail plan must also be optimized. Hanse yachts are designed to accommodate a self-tacking jib so the surface areas of the main sail and jib are very well balanced. This means that Hanse yachts stay very neutral in steering under sails. They can also stand more heeling, allowing the reefing to be postponed for even stronger winds.

The self-tacking jib and allows fast single-handed tacking without cranking and without disturbing anyone sitting on deck or in the cockpit. With all the lines tucked away the deck and cockpit remain completely uncluttered. A deep keel and rudder allow perfect control and manoeuvrability even in strong winds adding a relaxed note to the easy sailing concept.

The easy handling is not reserved only for sailing. With a combination of bow thruster, stern thruster and deep rudder, docking and casting off turns into child’s play, even in the smallest of harbours.

The angle of the companionway is very flat making it extremely easy to go below deck, you are not climbing down a ladder, you are walking on stairs. The roomy cockpit is well organized while the two steering wheels make the passage to the large bathing platform very easy. Among others, the Romans settled there, and the most preserved Amphitheatre in the world still tells of the glory of the ancient nation. It was the Austrian nation’s emperor who made this port into a large naval dockyard for their ambitious dream of constructing navy ships. Friendly people and a close to Italian life style, with excellent food and a clean environment, create a perfect location for joyful experiences. The Adriatic coastline, including the islands, is nearly 6000 km long. These unexploited resorts enable people to enjoy the benefits of “the cleanest sea in the world”. Hundreds of islands, with ten times more gulfs and bays, are a good reason to stop and find the harmony that comes from natural beauty, climate and people.

The 55 Bali was great as we were the first paying customers. Beautiful boat with plenty of room. The Captain and first mate were great. Food was top notch and so good that we opted to not do 1 shore dinner and just ate on the boat. We saw and did everything that we set out to see. I would repeat in a heartbeat.
