Drake and Lil Yachty Rap With Wolves in New Video for “Another Late Night”: Watch

By Nina Corcoran

Drake and Lil Yachty

Drake has shared a music video for his For All the Dogs song “Another Late Night” with Lil Yachty . Directed by Cole Bennett and filmed over the course of two hours, the visual finds both of the musicians rapping with wolves, dancing in a parking lot, and riding in a Christmas lights-wrapped sports car with a young woman in furry ears. Drake also eagerly holds up a box of McNuggets. Watch it below.

“Another Late Night” is the second song from Drake’s new album to get a music video, following the “ 8am in Charlotte ” clip starring Adonis Graham, his son. (Adonis also drew the album artwork for For All the Dogs .) Ahead of the album’s release, Drake dropped the SZA-featuring “ Slime You Out .” Other guests on For All the Dogs include Bad Bunny, J. Cole, Sexyy Red, Chief Keef, 21 Savage, Teezo Touchdown, Yeat, and PartyNextDoor.

For All the Dogs boasts a few notable samples, too, ranging from Frank Ocean’s “Wiseman” on “Virginia Beach” and Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like” on “7969 Santa” to the controversial interpolation of Pet Shop Boys’ “West End Girls” on “All the Parties,” which Pet Shop Boys claimed Drake used with “no credit given or permission requested.”

Drake is still in the midst of his It’s All a Blur Tour in support of his joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss . It was one of two LPs he released in 2022, following Honestly, Nevermind .

Lil Yachty Reveals How He Formed His Tight Bond With Drake

By Tony M. Centeno

February 23, 2023

Drake and Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty's friendship with Drake has benefitted both artists in more ways than one. After contributing beats to Her Loss last year, Yachty is sharing exactly how he got so close with the 6 God. During his debut appearance on the Rap Radar Podcast , which dropped on Thursday, February 23, hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian "B. Dot" Miller kick off the conversation by discussing the reception to Yachty's latest album Let's Start Here . Yachty said he appreciated the praise but feels there's more to be done. He also explained why he felt like he wasn't respected as an artist or a rapper.

“I did things when was trying to prove myself as a rapper, and I’m past that… now I’m trying to prove myself as an artist.” @lilyachty clarifies his comments of being taken “seriously as an artist” in a new @RapRadar interview. #OGM pic.twitter.com/ELdxpv6g4g — Our Generation Music (@OGMusicCo) February 23, 2023

"I do more than rap," Yachty said. "For a long time in my career, I wanted to be taken seriously as a rapper and I said that. So I would go try and do radio interviews or freestyles or whatever because I did Michigan Boy Boat and I did things to prove that I was a rapper, and I'm passed that. Now I'm proving that I'm an artist... I never wrote off being a rapper as not like being taken serious or not being as big as other genres/musicians or any of that. I just specifically myself, not speaking or nobody else or genre, want to be taken seriously as an artist." Later on the conversation, Yachty also mentioned that he tried to get other artists like The Weeknd and Kid Cudi to contribute to the album, but ultimately settled for his friends like Justine Skye and Daniel Caesar . After B. Dot brought up his best friend Drake, Wilson asked Yachty about how he got involved with Drizzy and 21 Savage's Her Loss LP. Yachty produced songs like “Major Distribution,” “Privileged Rappers,” “Circo Loco" and “Jumbrotron S**t Poppin." “I, for a very long time, wanted to do anything involving music with [Drake],” Yachty said. “So I’ve been telling him for the last, like, I don’t know how many years, like, ‘Bro...can I even just be in the room? I just wanna soak it up and see how you do it. I wanna see you rap, I wanna anything, you know?’ For real. I just feel like he’s -- to my opinion -- the greatest rapper ever. And that’s my personal opinion. I ain’t arguing with nobody or their mama.” Watch the newest episode of the Rap Radar Podcast via Interval Presents below.

Drake Hints At ‘Graceful’ Retirement In Lil Yachty Interview

Drake has opened up about planning his first steps toward hanging up his mic and making a “graceful” exit from the music industry.

The 6 God recently sat down for a picturesque interview with Lil Yachty on the beach where he teased having retirement on his mind.

“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna like — I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day. I feel like I’m kinda introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” he said in the first clip from their chat shared on Thursday (February 23).

Once upon a time, Drake said he wanted to retire by 35 in the early stages of his career. However, that age came and went with the 6 God turning 37 later this year.

The OVO boss has been reluctant in recent years to embrace the idea of ever walking away from music and retirement talk.

Drake joined an episode of Nicki Minaj’s Queen Radio in August 2022 where he said he wasn’t ready to hang it up just yet.

“I’m not at that point where I even consider that being an option,” Drake explained to Nicki. “One of the best feelings I have in my life is completing a song or project. And by the way, those things are painful as well. A lot of nerves, a lot of confidence wavering.

“But I feel like I’m reaching a new level of fun. I’ve reached a new level of comfortability where I want to try things. Like this last album, I put out something I wanted to do to challenge myself.”

The rest of the interview with Lil Yachty arrives on Friday (February 24) in support of Lil Boat’s new sunglasses company, Future Mood.

Based on his recent output, it doesn’t appear as if Drake’s slowing down any time soon.

He unleashed a pair of projects in 2022 with the house-leaning Honestly, Nevermind and he joined forces with 21 Savage for Her Loss later into the year, both of which debuted atop the Billboard 200.

Drake Defends His Pink Nails After Lil Yachty Told Him to Paint Them: 'The World Is Being Homophobic'

The rapper posted an image of himself with pink-painted nails on Instagram this week

drake and lil yachty

Drake is defending his painted nails.

Over the weekend, the Her Loss rapper, 36, shared a handful of behind-the-scenes images with fans on Instagram , including one of him rocking pink nails.

"I don’t mind that we don’t talk. Rather be in your thoughts. Rather be on top of your list of 'what ifs' and not your list of 'and what nots,' " Drake captioned the post.

In the comments section, Lil Yachty complimented Drake's massive diamond earrings in the photo, but the rapper took the opportunity to joke around with his friend about his nails after he explained that he wasn't getting a lot of positive feedback over the look.

Drake/Instagram

"GET OUT MY COMMENTS YOU TOLD ME TO PAINT MY NAILS SO I STOP BITING THEM AND NOW THE WORLD IS BEING HOMOPHOBIC FOR THE 1st TIME SINCE RICH FLEX…which wasn’t that long ago now that I think about it," Drake wrote. "Wait is the world homophobic? Smh."

In response, Lil Yachty, 25, said, "woo-sah brother, [you're] not supposed to have these episodes in public, it’s fine. They just don’t get u bro #UDIFFERENTAF."

Drake's comments about his nails come several months after he and 21 Savage released their single “Rich Flex,” which spawned an influx of memes at Drake’s expense.

Fans on TikTok teased the rapper at the time for his playful delivery on the song, implying that he was being flirty with his collaborator with the lyric, "21, can you do somethin’ for me?”

Drake is currently taking his pink nails and catalog of hits on the road as he and 21 Savage, 30, launched their joint It's All a Blur Tour in Chicago on Wednesday.

During the tour's first show at the United Center this week, the pair treated concert-goers to a 40-song-setlist and a special appearance from an old friend — a young version of Drake!

As he opened the show with track "Look What You've Done," Drake sat down on a couch next to a reported actor — who looked so much like Degrassi -era Drizzy that some fans online argued was an elaborate hologram.

The first night featured hits "Marvins Room," "Headlines," "The Motto," "Started from the Bottom," "Sicko Mode," "Way 2 Sexy," God's Plan," "Nice for What," "One Dance," "Sticky" and more.

The tour is set to hit stops in North America, including a homecoming for Drake in Toronto, Canada, and runs through Oct. 9 with a final date in Columbus, Ohio.

Lil Yachty Reveals Drake Rarely Listens to Music Outside of Recording Sessions [Video]

Lil Yachty just revealed in a Complex interview that despite Drake’s busy recording schedule and genre versatility, he rarely listens to music when he’s not recording.

“When I started hanging with him a lot, he rarely listens to music,” Yachty stated. “Except for like, when he’s recording.”

Yachty said that, unlike Drake, he listens to music all the time. “Driving, music. Showering, music. Eating, music,” he explained.

However, he noted that Drake, on the other hand, prefers conversation over music.

“He’s more, like a, talking type of person,” said Lil Yachty. “Music when it’s time to record. Sometimes he plays music in the car, but sometimes he’ll ride in silence.”

He said, “before we got as close, I thought all musicians were like me,” he admitted. “And music was just like, everyday, everything.”

It seems there may be some misconceptions about the 6 God. Everyone’s music process is different.

Lil Yachty May Have Fulfilled Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” Series “Young White Avatar” Prophecy

Lil Yachty may have just brought the “art imitates reality” fallacy to life based on one of the wildest episodes of Donald Glover’s Atlanta series and his recent decision to bring viral rapper Ian to the stage.

A number of memorable moments came out of Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash in Chicago over the weekend. One of the biggest takeaways from the festival, outside of Chief Keef’s return to The Windy City, was Lil Yachty’s apparent co-sign of newcomer Ian.

Brought to the stage to perform his trending single “Figure It Out,” Ian paid homage to the Concrete Boys leading man by recreating the walkout Lil Yachty went viral for at the 2021 iteration of the festival. Apparently, Lil Yachty was feeling it, too, because he even stopped Ian mid-verse and made him run the record back once more. Not to mention, the clip went viral on social media, garnering more than three million views on one of the clips shared on Twitter (X) alone.

And while it all seemed like a definitive passing of the torch moment, a fan theory floating around on the platform has likened the occurrence to the infamous “Young White Avatar (YWA)” episode from Glover’s thrilling dramedy, Atlanta.

“Yachty really got himself a Young White Avatar Donald Glover called this on ‘Atlanta’ a couple years ago lmao,” the Twitter (X) user wrote in the post.

As explained in the season four episode of the series, the “YWA” is essentially a young white artist that successful Black artists are expected to pivot and leverage toward the latter half of their careers.

The main idea driving the literary device of tragic irony at the core of the plot of this episode is that even though the Black artist is authentically a student of the game, the cycle of pop culture will dictate that they will need to embrace a YWA—or young white avatar—to reach broader mainstream audiences as the grow older.

It’s either that or become obsolete, as the sobering yet humorous scene from Atlanta attempts to explain as Paper Boy sits in on a YWA info session led by an older Black male music industry executive.

“Everybody in this room can rap their ass off, but if rapping meant you made money, Cassidy would be a millionaire,” the instructor barks at Paper Boy and the other rappers in the scene.

Yachty really got himself a Young White Avatar 😭 Donald Glover called this on “Atlanta” a couple years ago lmao https://t.co/vPvhcUn22z pic.twitter.com/aZ3mJGMRX6 — Shereef Sakr (@ShereefKeef) June 17, 2024

While it could be too deep, the theory does shed an interesting light on Lil Yachty’s iconic walk-out video and his influence, overall. The original clip of Lil Yachty has collectively amassed millions of views since it began circulating on the internet over three years ago. One primary upload alone has garnered over four million views on YouTube. And the video has also gone viral on TikTok and Instagram, and as of late, has bled into the stratosphere of professional sports with multiple edits and memes adding to its popularity.

The latest trend, being AI-generated remakes of the clip, has featured the likeness of several major public figures such as Deion Sanders and more. However, it is without a doubt that Ian’s remake, no matter how uncoordinated and or unseasoned it may have been, has undoubtedly breathed new life into the lore of the clip.

Check out the clip above.
