Guest Information

Guest policies             pool rules               trailer and vehicle parking policy.

• In the Clubhouse persons should wear appropriate country-club attire, which excludes any clothing that is overly revealing or displays any hateful or obscene message.  Appropriate athletic attire and appropriate jeans are permitted in the Clubhouse, if suitable for the occasion.  Gentlemen are prohibited from wearing sleeveless shirts at the Clubhouse, including outdoor terraces and fire pits. Headwear may not be worn inside the NYCC clubhouse except for medical, safety or religious purposes, or for approved special events.  Medical and safety coverings are always acceptable. All other forms of headwear must be removed prior to entry by all members and guests regardless of gender.

House Rules

• All guests must be accompanied at all times by an active member or senior associate unless prior arrangements have been made.
• The smoking of cigars, cigarettes, or pipes is prohibited inside the main Clubhouse, outdoor dining areas, and at the outdoor pool facility except at an approved special event.
• We do not accept cash.
• We ask that you keep cell phone calls to a minimum and be respectful of those around you.

Reciprocal Club Guests

• Visitors from reciprocal clubs are limited to 14 days annually for racquet sports, fitness, and pool use; use of the clubhouse and yachting facilities are not limited throughout the year. Normal guest fees apply for use of facilities outside of the Main Clubhouse. Guests can pay for services by credit card.

Overall rating

Well maintained private member club off of Hampton Blvd in Norfolk. Indoor and outdoor amenities include multiple pools, tennis courts, corn hole boards, workout facility, boating docks, adult beverage bar, counter service cafe with HDTV and seating, foosball table plus more. There's an entire building that's the perfect private event venue - weddings, reunions, galas and graduation parties. Crowds are common at the beginning of Summer and seasonal events, creating a domino effect on your overall experience - less available parking, less poolside space/seating, longer lines for bar and food service. The Niçoise salad I had yesterday was ok but nowhere near as good as the fresh ahi tuna steak in sesame glaze I had last August.

Friendly staff, nice well maintained pool area with a bar. We've eaten at the pool, the food was nice, very good prices. Service is friendly, good to see nice young kids working their Summer jobs. We have eaten a few times in the main restaurant, the food is always high quality, well priced, and generous portions. Servers are always really friendly. I'm not a member, I've been as a guest each time, always look forward to going.

Some of the best water views in Norfolk. Food menu in The Deck has a great variety. Pool and fitness facilities are clean and up to date.

The Norfolk Yacht Club was the venue for a friends wedding a few days ago and my first visit here. It's in a very pretty location and looks like it's been around a very long time. I felt the place to be musty and very dated. It really in my opinion needs a major renovation and updating. It gives the feel of an old white gentlemen's club, steeped in history, financial deals & networking. Just my opinion. The wedding itself was beautiful and the marina backdrop perfect. The food was top class, but I think maybe that was more to do with the wedding itself. The staff were very attentive, and eager to please. They have several sections here for events and it's the ideal location. Probably the best location as again in my opinion, Norfolk not the prettiest of places I've been.

Hi Joan, Thank you for your review. I hope you enjoyed your visit to NYCC for your friend's wedding. You're right about our club having been around for a long time, since 1896 in fact! Although, our current clubhouse was built many years later, we recognize that it needs some updates. We're in the planning stages of a Facilities Enhancement Plan to modernize our club and renovate certain areas. We think members and guests will be very pleased with the finial result. We hope you'll have a chance to visit us again in the future!

It was awesome I love the place and it deserves all the kudos although the menu is limited the things they do have are very good. The employees are very nice and helpful. Over all very great!

I don't know how this gets to get Yelp! But I grew up here, I was a Sea Dragon with the Swim Team, I sailed Sunfishes during Summer Sail camp, When my mother would order a screw driver without orange juice, When they promised I wouldn't be loud so we got sat on the adult side during the Wednesday buffet, And played ping-pong in the patio in 2001 before the fitness center... I'm just visiting for the Summer, but everyone that works here has been nothing but kind and respectful. Y'all have a great staff. ... Just read some reviews. People that say "dated" don't understand classic. Don't change. Coming home and my mom and I going up to the deck and just casually walking around, feels like a warm hug.

Great place to spend Memorial Day Weekend! Bar, grill and lots of sun combine some family time as well and couldn't think of a better place to spend the holiday! Cheers

Looking over these reviews, I can understand the varied ratings. After the long-time club manager retired, there was a transition period that resulted in food that did not meet the club's usual standards. I have dined twice recently and am happy to report that my last meal was the finest every enjoyed there and among the finest that I have ever eaten. The new menu is different, but there are ample seafood entrees and appetizer offerings; many locally sourced.

The oyster po'boy was delicious but I am not planning to eat here again any time soon. Our waiter looked disheveled and was on his phone texting behind the bar most of the time. When he read the specials to us he had to read them off a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. He gave us plates with butter but no bread. At the end of the meal, my friend asked about it and that was when he offered us muffins. Then when we got our checks, there was already an 18% charge with an explanation that it is not considered a tip and that we should tip if we received "superior" service, which, we did not. I was upset I had to pay that extra 18% for basically nothing. For a fancy-looking place, I was not at all impressed with the service. I'm giving 2 stars only because the oyster po'boy was delicious.

Not much to rate, it's a private club on a river. Oops, except, the manager reprimanding my friends for not smoking outside in the correct area. Last time I checked, I did not know you have to be herded while smoking. I thought that was only at Innsbrook after hours in the beer circle.

Bay Point Marina is an ideal location for seasoned sailors, anglers & boaters who are looking to charter the waters of the Chesapeake Bay!

Deltaville Marina is a full-service marina situated minutes from the Chesapeake Bay. Located on Virginia's beautiful Jackson Creek, our serene resort-like setting offers boaters all the modern-day amenities, including a large pool, grills, and newly renovated bath house.  We are open year-round and provide slip holders and transient visitors a quiet family-oriented environment. Deltaville Marina has up to 10' mean low water and offers uncovered slips, fuel dock, free pump out facility, 100a shore power, and transient dockage for the traveling cruiser. We are approximately one mile to the quaint and historic town of Deltaville as well as many other historic attractions, music, farmers markets, and other activities. You don't want to miss this stop!  Whether visiting for a night, week, or longer, our superb location provides protection from wind and seaway from most directions.

The Docks at Downtown Hampton

The Docks at Downtown Hampton is a transient facility located within walking distance of Downtown Hampton’s historic district, restaurants, and local attractions.  It was also the first marina in the Commonwealth of Virginia to receive Virginia Clean Marina certification.  The Docks have several boater amenities, including shower facilities, onsite laundry, free public wifi on the docks, complimentary bicycles, a garden with pick your own veggies & herbs, marina office with internet access and telephones, discounts on car rentals from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and pool, spa, and fitness room privileges at the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina Hotel. 

Located right off open water on Little Creek in Norfolk, VA, we are immediately accessible to the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic Ocean, ICW and James River.  Morningstar Marinas at Little Creek is a full-service marina with an onsite restaurant, top-notch staff and ongoing facility renovations.  We serve as a haven for all boaters, especially anglers and transients.  Morningstar Marinas’ Little Creek is a one-stop-shop right across from the naval base and 20 minutes to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area.

The Club's marina consists of three floating concrete piers and one fixed pier. Our piers provide slips for 200 boats, including wet slips and lift slips with dry storage for additional boats. Additionally, there is a self-service fuel system and pump out facility. Three launching ramps provide members with access to the Lafayette River. Boat storage is based on the length of an individual boat. A full-time Harbormaster assists in the supervision of the marina and fuel dock.        Our Club is uniquely located on the Lafayette River on Hampton Boulevard between Old Dominion University and the Norfolk Naval Station.

Old Point Comfort Marina - Now 37 North Marina

When you sail or motor south to the sun and fun of Hampton Roads, Old Point Comfort Marina is your home on the Chesapeake Bay. Located in Hampton and part of historic Fort Monroe, our full-service marina offers accommodations for more than 300 boats up to 50 ft. in length. In addition, you’ll find a full menu of marine services like transient dockage, slip rentals, boat ramp, gas and diesel fuel, pump out services, and The Deadrise Seafood Restaurant and Ship’s Store.    Stay tuned for more information concerning 37 North, a soon-to-be premier destination on The Chesapeake Bay and Eastern Seaboard. 37 North plans to bring a 90-room boutique hotel, and a 500-seat restaurant with expansive outdoor seating areas and waterfront views of the Chesapeake Bay connected right to Old Point Comfort Marina.

Onancock Town Harbor

Our harbor office and the facility offer marine conveniences and protected dockage to Chesapeake Bay boaters.  Our floating dock slips are 16 plus ft. wide, plus two bulkhead and one wide beam (stationary) slips. Water is generally 5-7 feet deep at the floating docks. The bulkhead accommodates boats up to 82 feet with water generally 7.5 feet deep. 

Salt Ponds Marine Resort

Salt Ponds Marina Resort is conveniently located in Hampton, Virginia, right off the Chesapeake Bay. Making it a perfect stopping point whether you are traveling south through the Intracoastal Waterway or heading for points north of the Bay. The Marina has all floating docks with wide full-length finger piers & rubber rub rails. We welcome both transient and long-term tenants, accommodating vessels up to 110 feet.

The Tides Inn Chesapeake Bay Marina provides the beauty and tranquility of a secluded harbor. Located on Carters Creek, 11 nautical miles from Windmill Point, the floating dock marina accommodates up to 24 vessels ranging from small weekend cruisers to 150-foot yachts. Waterside Marina is conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Norfolk, on the Elizabeth River – Mile Marker “0” on the ICW. Guests will enjoy many conveniences and amenities such as free grocery shuttle service, showers, ice and free Wi-Fi. In spring of 2020 we installed  brand new floating docks and power. Mega-Yachts up to 300 Feet can be accommodated. And last but not least, we are located next to the Waterside District featuring dining and entertainment!

The Riverwalk Landing Piers provide docking for overnight stays and transient boaters. Tie up and step ashore to grab a bite to eat or do a little shopping. Take advantage of prime parking on the water for our outdoor concerts, Yorktown Market Days, and festivals.  The piers provide 1,200 linear feet of dockage. Electrical, water, and sewer pump-out are available pier side. The concrete floating pier system allows for a constant 28" above-water elevation. The depths at dockside range from 27' to 50' on well over 1,000 feet of dock frontage space.  A second pier is located behind Riverwalk Restaurant and provides additional docking. This smaller pier offers similar amenities as the T-pier. Mooring balls are also available for use if desired. A private shower and restroom facility is also provided for our guests who arrive by water.

York River Yacht Haven’s long-standing invitation to transients has been generated over the years by word-of-mouth advertising. Whether you are from a local boating area or North/South bound, our marina is ideal for accommodating you. Our transients are offered a safe and secure protected facility with a variety of local services and entertainment. Our Dockmaster and staff continually monitor VHF channel 16 and are always available for docking and fueling assistance.
