She was built by the Italian shipyard Mondomarine .

She has a calm composure, while the fresh and modern interior and exterior lines exude a classic and timeless sense of luxury that will never be outdated. 

Her unique design made her a finalist during the 2016 Show Boats Design Awards and the World Superyacht Awards.

The SERENITY yacht was designed by Luca Vallebona who combined form and function in one to create a masterpiece and the Andalusian-style interiors offer a comfortable and elegant ambiance.

She features a cabin with a breathtaking view and maximum possible privacy that is ensured by stairs that bypass the upper deck.

The panoramic suite boasts a massive bathroom with a trendy freestanding bathtub, stunning mosaics, and a marble floor. 

The four contemporary guest bedrooms are located on the lower deck with their own color schemes.

It is complemented by the elegant fabrics and decorative features such as the two vertical gardens hanging behind the bed heads that add a touch of elegance.

The main deck is decorated in Calacatta marble flooring and striking full-height windows that are edged in gloss rosewood frames to create an exceptionally peaceful and relaxing interior design with a Middle Eastern flair.

Various Italian designer names also contributed to its interior such as Artemide , Barovier & Toso , and Patrizia Garganti for luxury lighting, Paola Lenti for the outdoor furnishings, and Donghia for the sofas. 

Motor yacht SERENITY Specifications

The SERENITY yacht is built with an aluminum superstructure and teak decks with a low draft of 2.2m/7’3″.

Her semi-displacement hull allows her to maintain great seakeeping while reaching amazing speeds. 

Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M72) 1,450hp engines, she travels easily at 15 knots and can achieve a top speed of 16 knots, and a range of up to 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots from her 63,000-liter fuel capacity.

She is equipped with at-anchor stabilizers to provide great comfort all throughout the cruise. 

Motor yacht SERENITY boasts an exterior with dramatically slanted fashion plates and dark, ribbon-like windows in response to the owner’s request for spectacular views from his cabin as well as complete privacy from the crew. 

The entire upper deck hosts the master suite that includes a family lounge doubling as a cinema room.

Her sundeck is decorated in shimmering Bisazza blue tiles and features a large sunbathing area, terrace, and a large swim platform that allows everyone to enjoy direct contact with the sea.

Motor yacht SERENITY can accommodate up to 10 guests in five suites and 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

She is equipped with a big flybridge and facilities like a Jacuzzi, large sun loungers, an outdoor dining space, and lounging sections, all of which are designed to promote relaxation and entertainment.

Growing up in Westchester County NY, although yachting wasn’t the typical scene, Vincent has always had a passion for the water. Spending most summers out in Long Island allowed him to build skills and interests that would soon translate into yachting. Graduating in May of 2022 from Providence College with a degree in Business Management and Finance, Vincent decided to pursue his lifelong dream of joining the yachting industry. He’s well skilled in watersports and customer service and looks forward to embarking on new adventures. Vincent joins SERENITY to expand his yachting knowledge while bringing his enthusiastic and friendly demeanour to the team. During his free time Vincent enjoys playing sports, boxing, and learning more about the financial and real estate markets.

Molly Poorman

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Molly grew up spending her weekends out on the water. Some of her favorite memories were made whilst fishing, sailing, and enjoying the beautiful beaches of the East Coast. Knowing that she wanted to be in hospitality from a young age, Molly graduated from Florida International University having completed one of the top hospitality programs in the nation. With fifteen years of experience behind her, she felt a natural inclination to combine her passion for the industry with her love of the Ocean. Here, she found her course in yachting. She has since worked for prestigious programs and has travelled extensively. She has been to Alaska, New England, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Southeast Asia, and the Mediterranean. She truly enjoys experiencing and learning the different cultures that come with every destination. Amanda Ulrich

Amanda grew up in Michigan where she spent a lot of her time on the freshwater lakes, kayaking, wake surfing and paddle boarding. She attended Colorado State University and studied Business Management. Upon graduating, she moved back to Northern Michigan and worked as a General Manager of a kayak and canoe rental shop. Feeling like she wanted to pursue a career where she was able to further immerse herself in the maritime industry, Amanda joined yachts earlier this year. She is excited to learn the ropes from her team of seasoned professionals and aims to deliver a high level of performance in hospitality. In her free time, you’ll find her fishing for her next trophy fish and taking part in a variety of water sports. Built in 2004, Serenity is designed for exquisite indoor/outdoor living and boasts voluminous interior and exterior spaces across several decks: ideal for bronzing, lounging or entertaining.

Guest Accommodation

Serenity is great for families thanks to her child-friendly setup. She offers guest accommodation for up to 28 guests with a layout comprising a master suite, six VIP cabins, five double cabins and two twin cabins. There are 20 beds in total, including 12 king, 6 singles and 2 pullmans. Additionally, there is a staff cabin on board. She is also capable of carrying up to 30 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

A charter on Serenity is comfortable and convenient thanks to the provided amenities, notably the pool, useful to practice your technique or just cool off. You can visit the well-equipped gym so that you can keep up with your fitness routine at sea and soak up the bubbles in style in the deck jacuzzi.

Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots with a range of up to 1,539 nautical miles at cruising speed. With a shallow draft of 2.1m/6'11" Serenity can anchor closer to coves and sheltered bays overnight. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy endless days of fun on the water with the exceptional collection of water toys and accessories aboard Serenity. Principle among these are Flyboards, experience flying in and out of the water with the latest in high adrenaline watersport. OWNER'S SUITE — SERENITY

The 122-foot (37.2m) Flagship motor yacht SERENITY is a true testament to her name. Built in 1993, but fully refitted in 2017, SERENITY offers guests a tranquil oasis from which to explore the natural wonders of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska . Eight guests are welcomed aboard for the ultimate luxury adventure — which is exactly what her owners wanted. SERENITY is their first yacht; they purchased her in 2016 and have been delighted by her ever since. Avid charterers, the owners of SERENITY were keen to explore the incredible waters from Seattle to South Alaska; for them, owning their own yacht was the next step .

They spend between six and eight weeks a year on board in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Previously named TALOS, the owners dubbed their yacht SERENITY because “that is how we feel when we’re aboard. She is the perfect yacht for this region,” her owners say. There are lots of enclosed spaces, like the flybridge — which can be alfresco — and the skylounge, that allow you to enjoy the sights regardless of conditions. The region in which the yacht cruises is unlike the traditional tropical yachting hot spots. Which is just how her owners like it. They’re often on board in Alaska. First thing in the morning, the owner will enjoy a run on the yacht’s treadmill, then the adventures begin.

SERENITY’s 29-foot Alaskan-style fishing boat, the SERENE MACHINE, is fully outfitted for exploration. It is perfectly suited to be independent of the main yacht for the day and comfortably accommodates eight people. The SERENE MACHINE has a standup day head and is enclosed in order to protect from the weather. The SERENE MACHINE is perfect to take guests ashore for hikes, get up-close-and-personal with glaciers, cast a line and hope to reel in the big one, and cruise alongside pods of orcas and other incredible wildlife. “We’ve had it only one season,” the owners say, “and it opened up the utility of the yacht in ways you never imagined.”

One of the owners’ favorite aspects of the yacht is the on-deck master. “It’s a huge plus as opposed to being down stairs,” they say, but also mention, “The yacht has great spaces for gathering with everyone on board, but it also has places perfect for some quiet time to read a book or watch scenery go by.”

SERENITY’s owners love Alaska and Puget Sound; this region is their favorite cruising destination. “The beauty and the wildlife are incomparable to anywhere we’ve ever been,” they say. “From the islands and changing nature of the landscape to seeing whales, otters, eagles and bears, to going fishing and crabbing, there’s so much to do — we love enjoying the many things that part of the country has to offer.” Another favorite cruising location for SERENITY’s owners is New England along the Penobscot Bay of Maine and farther north into Canada. They also enjoy The Bahamas, specifically the Exumas — they really love the fishing there. But they maintain that no matter where else they have cruised, Alaska is by far the most unique. “It’s constantly changing and always surprising you,” they maintain, adding, “There’s one spot in Red Bluff Bay where you can nose the yacht to a tidal waterfall then cruise a couple hundred yards and spot a bear fishing in a meadow, then in a few more hundred yards, you drop the shrimp pods to catch dinner.”

SERENITY is the perfect yacht in the perfect location for her owners. They enjoy every moment aboard and they offer her for charter, allowing guests to relish the luxury and incredible location that go hand-in-hand with SERENITY. “She was on the charter market when we bought her,” the owners say. “We expected to be aboard between six and eight weeks a year in Alaska and with her already consistent charter following, it made sense for us to make her available to others in those incredible waters.

The responses from clients who cruise in that area are always the same — they are blown away. Unless you’ve spent a lot of time up there, it’s unlike anything you’ve experienced before. We also get a lot of compliments on our incredible crew, but what guests talk about most are their experiences in the hidden bays in which they anchor, and the incredible opportunities SERENE MACHINE has opened up.”

Charter guests get to enjoy everything from fishing to wildlife spotting — “one group of charter guests were out on SERENE MACHINE when a pod of orcas came by,” the owners say. “One of the whales was swimming on its back under the boat, getting a belly scratch from the keel.” Another favorite memory for guests is cruising past glaciers and picking up a piece of floating ice for cocktails that evening.

The captain and crew of SERENITY further enhance the onboard experience. From the captain with a 20-year Navy career and lots of big-boat experience, to the chef who creates incredible Alaskan feasts from the fresh fish caught by the guests that day, the crew up the ante aboard SERENITY, ensuring an enjoyable, five-star experience for all.

After all, yachting is all about having fun! “We love being on the water,” the owners of SERENITY say. And their yacht allows them total flexibility and total peacefulness. “We love to anchor out in a beautiful bay with nothing around us but nature.”

Michael de la Merced reported on Mike Lynch’s career and legal battles over the course of 13 years across two continents.

A cruise on the Mediterranean Sea aboard a superyacht was supposed to be a celebratory event for the British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch , who was acquitted in June of fraud charges tied to the sale of his company, Autonomy, to the tech giant Hewlett-Packard.

Instead, it turned into a disaster after the yacht, a 180-foot boat called the Bayesian, sank off the coast of Sicily in a violent storm. Of the 22 passengers aboard, 15 were rescued, one body was recovered and six were still missing. Search operations at the site of the sunken yacht were continuing on Tuesday.

Here’s what we know about the passengers.

Mike Lynch and his family

Mr. Lynch, 59, is a British software entrepreneur who had once been described as his country’s Bill Gates. He founded the software firm Autonomy, which analyzed clients’ unorganized data, and turned it into one of the most prominent British technology companies of its time. He became a widely known corporate leader, who advised David Cameron, the British prime minister at the time, and joined the board of the BBC.

In 2011, Mr. Lynch sold Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion, which was far above its market value, earning him hundreds of millions. But HP investors almost immediately soured on the transaction, and the American tech giant quickly fired its chief executive — and then Mr. Lynch.

HP later accused Mr. Lynch of misleading it about the state of Autonomy’s business, setting off a decade-long legal ordeal for the British executive, who denied the accusations. U.S. prosecutors charged him and other executives with fraud, and Autonomy’s chief financial officer was convicted in 2018.

Despite appeals to the British government, Mr. Lynch was extradited to the United States last year and was confined to a townhouse in San Francisco ahead of his criminal trial, which began in March. Facing the possibility of decades in prison if convicted, Mr. Lynch and another colleague were instead acquitted of all charges.

Mr. Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, 57, accompanied him on the yacht, and she was rescued on Monday when it sank. She was a consistent presence at his trial in the United States. Records show that she controlled Revtom, the company listed as the owner of the Bayesian.

Hannah Lynch, Mr. Lynch and Ms. Bacares’s 18-year-old daughter, was also on the yacht and was among those who were still missing.

The other guests

Among those unaccounted for is Jonathan Bloomer, 70, chair of Morgan Stanley’s international arm and the chairman of Hiscox, an insurance provider that trades on the London Stock Exchange. His wife, Judy Bloomer, 71, is also listed as missing.

“Our thoughts are with all those affected, in particular the Bloomer family, as we all wait for further news from this terrible situation,” Morgan Stanley said in a statement.

Christopher J. Morvillo, 59, a New York-based partner at the international law firm Clifford Chance, is also among those missing. A former federal prosecutor who comes from a family of prominent lawyers, Mr. Morvillo represented Mr. Lynch during his criminal trial in San Francisco. His wife, Neda, 57, was with him on the yacht and is also among those confirmed as missing.

“We are in shock and deeply saddened by this tragic incident,” a representative of Clifford Chance said in a statement.

Survivors include Charlotte Golunski, a partner at Mr. Lynch’s venture firm, Invoke Capital; Ms. Golunski’s husband, James Emslie; and their 1-year-old daughter Sophie. Also rescued were Ayla Ronald, a lawyer at Clifford Chance, and her partner, Matthew Fletcher.

The yacht had a crew of 10. The body of the chef, Recaldo Thomas, was recovered from the water, the Sicilian Civil Protection Department said.
