Culinary Delights:

Food lovers, rejoice! The Mediterranean is a gastronomic paradise, and a cruise is your ticket to a culinary journey. Savor authentic Greek moussaka, indulge in Italian pasta and pizza, and relish Spanish paella—all while enjoying sea breezes and stunning views. Each port offers a unique gastronomic experience, making your taste buds dance with delight.

Most positions are to work on yachts whilst some companies hire staff to work on land in shipyards. Recruiters look for staff to be dedicated, professional, flexible and open minded. Some companies hire staff without experience and offer full training courses. Most positions are advertised for individuals but some recruiters offer jobs for couples.

European / Mediterranean Superyacht Season

Europe and more specifically, the Mediterranean is the most populated sea in the yachting world and is busiest during the summer months (April – September). The Mediterranean Sea is the body of water that separates Europe, Africa and Asia and is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by a narrow passage called the Straits of Gibraltar. The Med has amazing infrastructure, shipyards, marinas and yachting services and is therefore also a very popular place for yachts and crew to remain during winter months.

Finding a Superyacht Job in Europe / The Med:

The best time of the year to find a job is either side of the season, directly before or immediately after. Boats generally tend to crew up for the Mediterranean season in April and May and they may then hire crew again before crossing to their next seasonal destination, the most popular of which, is the Caribbean and usually occurs in September-November. Many vessels will base themselves in the south of France, Italy and Spain. Antibes and Palma de Mallorca are therefore the most common places for crew to base themselves and find jobs.

Cruising in the Med:

The Med is mostly surrounded by land which is one of the many factors that make it an ideal cruising area for yachts. It is generally well-protected, is non-tidal and boasts crystal clear water and some of the best beaches in the world. Additionally, Europe is rich in culture and a Mediterranean season will involve stopping off at some of the greatest cities in the world. As a crew member, time off will be limited in the summer months, however, you are likely to be fortunate enough to briefly experience a few of the amazing cities and attractions that Europe has to offer. Whether its partying in Ibiza, exploring the French Riviera, enjoying a beach bar in Greece or wandering the streets of Turkey and Croatia, you are sure to have an amazing time with any downtime you may get in Europe.

As a crew member, the job varies slightly in the Med compared to other seasonal destinations. In the summer months Europe experiences long hours of daylight and the sun can set as late as 21h30. Guests therefore (generally) tend to be slower in the morning and to go to bed later. It is also common to spend many nights in port as guests want to experience the vibrant cultures, cities and ports and often eat ashore. The type of guests you have onboard in Europe may also vary, unlike areas such as the Caribbean, South Pacific, etc. where guests are most likely on board to get away from other yachts and enjoy nature and activities like diving, snorkelling and fishing. The Mediterranean lacks marine life and is densely populated with yachts. The guests tend to prefer a higher level of service here and the deck crew can expect countless tender runs to and from shore.

Winter Months:

The med season begins to slow down in September. Many yacht crew members are hired on a seasonal basis and their employment contracts will come to an end. Others will prepare to take the vessel to their next seasonal destination and some may remain on board the yacht for a winter yard (maintenance) period. There is a lot of crew turnover during this stage of the year and is a good time to find employment.

If you are employed on a yacht that remains in Europe for the winter, your work will vary greatly from the summer months. There is a good chance the boat will be hauled out the water onto the dry dock at some stage as well (possibly for the whole period, depending on the scope of work to be done). It is highly unlikely you will have guests on board and everything will be covered and stowed away for the winter months. The yacht will undergo maintenance and alterations during this period. It is a very busy time for engineers who will focus on scheduled maintenance, repairing breakages and faults that may have occurred during the season, and making improvements to onboard machinery and systems. The deck department will focus on maintenance (varnishing, polishing, painting) as well as inventory and season orders. The interior will focus on inventories, stain treatments, ordering, polishing and deep cleaning.

The off-season is also a good time to train and rest crew. It is likely that hours will be 08:00 – 17:00 and that you will have weekends off, provided you are not on watch. The winter months can be an amazing experience for crew members if you enjoy the colder, wetter weather. There tends to be a more relaxed atmosphere on board with ‘normal’ work hours in place and more downtime. Having weekends off allows you to explore the area you are in, or even possibly take a few days off for a skiing trip. It will also provide deck and engine room crew members with invaluable yard experience, which will stand them in good stead for their careers.

Visas and Legal Requirements:

Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and role on board. Schengen visas are necessary for all non-European and non-British crew. It can be obtained from the embassy of your first point of entry into Europe and allows you to move freely between all the European countries that form part of the Schengen area. However, the amount of days you are allowed in the Schengen area varies depending on your nationality, contract, yacht policies etc.

It is common for Schengen visa holders to be stamped onto the vessel and out of the Schengen zone to freeze their allocation of days in Europe. In this instance crew will not be allowed to leave the area in which the yacht is located. It is therefore essential to ensure that you consult with your captain/yacht agent or visa specialists to ensure you have the correct visas, are working legally and know your restrictions.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Below deck mediterranean: captain sandy is throwing shade at people in leadership (was this directed at hannah), below deck mediterranean: will captain sandy fire bosun iain maclean (joe bradley could take his place).

  • Boatmances are already heating up among the crew of the Mustique on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, creating drama and tension.
  • Gael's desire for deckhand Nathan while having a boyfriend raises questions about her commitment, adding complications to the cast dynamics.
  • Ellie's interest in Joe creates a potential love triangle with Bri, causing drama and betraying their friendship aboard the yacht.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 is just beginning, but several romances have already begun among the crew of the Mustique. Considering the crew is together on the yacht full-time while separated from their relationships outside the boat, it is natural they would find romance within the group. Romances aboard the boat, known as “ boatmances ,” add necessary drama to the show, but they also threaten to divide the cast.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 follows the charter yacht Mustique under the lead of Captain Sandy Yawn. The majority of the cast this season is new to the Below Deck franchise, building fresh relationships as they get to know one another. The budding boatmances are set against an idyllic backdrop as the Mustique explores the waters off Greece.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Gael Admits To Having Feelings For Nathan After They Almost Hook Up

Her interest in nathan is complicated by her relationship status.

The first real romantic tension of season 9 was between deckhands Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher. Sparks began to fly when the crew spent their first night on the town together away from the boat, celebrating the success of their first charter. Once back on the boat, Gael and Nathan texted each other from their beds and plotted to meet up out of the camera's view. “ What’s right and what’s wrong ?” Gael asked in a confessional, adding, “m aybe I like him a little tiny bit .”

Gael’s desire to meet up with Nathan was surprising considering she revealed she had a boyfriend in the first episode of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, much to the disappointment of her male castmates. However, Gael later expressed concern about her ability to trust her boyfriend in her absence. Her attempt to hook up with Nathan further casts doubt on Gael’s willingness to stay committed to her boyfriend throughout the charter season.

Gael and Nathan’s attempt at starting a romance was thwarted when production caught Gael in the kitchen. She insisted she was just getting a drink of water, then texted Nathan to call off the rendezvous. Gael admitted in her confessional, “ I’m still in a relationship, and I feel like I’m definitely having stronger feelings than I need to have in this moment .” Gael left it unclear whether she and Nathan would have followed through if she had not been caught, but it is no coincidence that later in the episode she was shown avoiding her boyfriend’s calls.

Bri Has Her Eyes On Flirtatious Deckhand Joe

Bri and joe’s playful banter may lead to something more.

Sabrina “Bri” Muller is still learning the ropes as a steward, but she finds herself distracted by her attraction to deckhand Joe Bradley. Affectionately referring to Joe as “ eyebrows ,” Bri stated, “ everyone has needs, and sometimes my needs need to be met .” She appears very interested in pursuing a boatmance with Joe, despite the fact that she is a relatively new steward and needs to devote her energy to keeping up with the demands of her job.

Joe’s flirtation with Bri continued when he asked her whether she had any tattoos. Bri responded that she had two, which was the answer Joe wanted to hear. He said he finds tattoos “ quite sexy ,” and because he promised his grandfather he would never get a tattoo of his own, he sees them as “ forbidden fruit .” Regarding Bri’s tattoos, Joe noted, “ it does something for me, one hundred percent .”

Back in her room, Bri asked her roommate, Steward Elena “Ellie” Dubaich, to teach her how to flirt. When Ellie asked who she was planning to flirt with, Bri played coy and denied it was Joe. Her denial to Ellie hints that she was hiding her interest in Joe because she knew Ellie would not approve.

Ellie’s Chemistry With Joe Threatens To Create A Love Triangle

Bri’s betrayal may end her friendship with ellie.

While Joe and Bri teased a potential boatmance, Joe was also flirting with Ellie. Ellie and Joe had shared an intimate dance during the crew’s night out, and Joe described Ellie’s method of taking a shot as “ sexy .” Ellie admitted that “ there might be a little something starting between ” her and Joe, and the two “ definitely have chemistry .” However, she was not aware that Joe was hitting on Bri at the same time.

Ellie’s interest in Joe appeared to wane after she witnessed his flirtation with Bri. In episode 4, after watching Bri and Joe’s banter over dinner, Ellie commented that Bri “ knows I’m attracted to him, and she doesn’t seem to care about any of that .” Bri's betrayal was especially hurtful considering Ellie had been putting in effort to help Bri become more efficient with her housekeeping duties aboard the ship. Ellie added that “ as a general rule, working on a boat, you never wanna go for the guy your supervisor is interested in .”

A season of Below Deck Mediterranean would be incomplete without some romantic tension, and the season 9 cast is diving straight into the drama. Gael's pursuit of a boatmance leaves her relationship with her boyfriend up in the air, while Joe is oblivious to the mess he creates with his flirtation. As the Mustique’s crew pursues new relationships, they risk leaving destruction in their wake.

CANNES — “Summer House: Martha’s Vineyard” star Bria Fleming was living her best life in the South of France when she found out that Bravo had put the reality show on pause after just two seasons.

“I was actually here during the [Cannes Film] Festival,” Fleming, 29, tells Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast during a special taping at Spotify Beach amid the 2024 Cannes Lions fest, which convenes creators, media, marketing execs and more in the scenic seaside city.

“I was on a yacht, and everybody’s blowing me up, but I didn’t have service in the middle of the water,” she continues, recalling her Mediterranean escapades last month. “I get off and I’m, like, blackout drunk with my friends — and I get off, and I just see everyone’s like, ‘Did you see the news?’”

On May 28, Deadline broke the news that “SHMV” — a spinoff of “Summer House” that followed an all-black cast vacationing together in Massachusetts’ affluent enclave — was taking an indefinite hiatus.

Bria Fleming

“It kind of was like a slap in the face to hear that the show is on pause because it came out of nowhere,” Fleming tells us, noting that the Season 2 reunion with Andy Cohen — a first for the unscripted series — had signaled to her an upward trajectory.

“I think we were just very shocked and disappointed because we brought it. We brought it [in the] second season. Like, everybody did their part,” she says, asserting that the entire cast delivered “juicy” drama.

“It was all organic,” Fleming elaborates, reminding us that even her pet dachshund, Milo, did his part by going missing in the season finale and her German boyfriend, Simon Marco — who spent a few days filming with the crew — incited conflict by dancing in a flamingo costume.

“I had my drama,” the fashion entrepreneur adds. “I’m always in something.”

The sophomore installment of “SHMV” starred Fleming, Jasmine Ellis Cooper, Jordan Emanuel, Shanice Henderson, Summer Marie Thomas, Noelle Hughley, Nick Arrington, Amir Lancaster, Preston Mitchum and Alex Tyree.

Fleming says her closest pal among the group, Henderson, 32, was the first to alert her that a third season was not in the works this year.

“I didn’t get a heads-up until everybody texted me, and they’re like, ‘Call me when you find out.’ I think it was … my best friend, Shanice, who told me, ‘We’re done. It’s on pause.’ And I’m like, ‘What?!’” she recounts.

“Thank God I didn’t answer it on that yacht because I would have reacted way different.”

The show is not canceled, though plans for its return remain uncertain. If and when “SHMV” comes back, Fleming says she and her beau, Marco, 38 — who joined her for the Cannes Lions chat with “Virtual Reali-Tea” — would love to reprise their roles.

“My heart felt like it was [broken] to pieces because this is, like, my dream job, and I know it’s not the end, but we’re so conditioned to go back every summer. August is like, ‘OK, I gotta prepare, I gotta get my outfits and everything,’” she says. “But, of course, we would love to come back.”

With more free time this summer, Fleming reveals she is looking forward to getting breast implants — a procedure she has long wanted to pursue but could previously never fit in due to her packed schedule.

The cast of Summer House Martha's Vineyard

“I’m gonna get a boob job, just a little augmentation, because I always wanted to do it during the summer, but we would have to go back,” she says, acknowledging that she has been interested in doing so “for years.”

“[I’ve wanted breast implants] since, like, college because they droop a little,” she explains. “So I just wanted to get, like, a natural[-looking] lift. But I always had something going on. So I was like, ‘I don’t know when I’m going to have the time to do this.’”

Whether it’s starring on reality TV or going under the knife, Marco has always been supportive of Fleming’s desires.

Bria Fleming

“I’m always positive about everything,” the businessman says, emphasizing that he and his girlfriend approach life with similar levels of curiosity and optimism.

“I always try to do new things. And when something is not working, I’m always trying to find a new way to make it better. I mean, that’s just my mindset. That’s how we build everything in our lives.”

In the meantime, the couple are enjoying more moments in Cannes — their “favorite” place in the world, as it is where they met and began falling in love two years ago.

Simon Marco and Bria Fleming

“My favorite place to travel to in the whole entire world would be Cannes in the South of France,” Fleming says, while Marco chimes in to say, “Because that’s where we met.”

The former Playboy Club Bunny says she also likes Cannes for its “luxury, shopping, food and parties.”

“There’s so much life here and so much to do and freedom and yachts and just the glamorous side of life,” she gushes. “So, I love you, Cannes.”
