Pasito Blanco: The Beach Gran Canaria's Yachty Crowd Don't Want You To See

Tranquil Pasito Blanco is as close to a private beach as you get in Gran Canaria but is open to all. 

With all natural and almost white sand, sheltered Pasito Blanco beach is one of the best in south Gran Canaria. However, because it's a pain to get to, it's often almost empty. Unsurprisingly, the yacht and property owners in the marina, Gran Canaria's poshest, are keen to keep it that way. 

The sand is for everyone

Thanks to Spanish law, even Gran Canaria's elite can't stop you from walking through the marina to the sand; all beaches in Spain are public (except for those in military bases). 

To reach Pasito Blanco beach by bus, get off at the Pasito Blanco stop on the GC 500 between Maspalomas and Arguineguín. To drive, turn off at the Pasito Blanco roundabout and park before you get to the marina security gate.

Walk down the access road and turn left (east) once you pass security. The beach access is at the far end of the marina.

Intrepid coasteers can also walk and wade to Pasito Blanco from Meloneras beach to the east. Start the three-kilometre trek two hours before low tide and never attempt it on rough days. To return, it's best to walk through the marina and get the bus rather than try to walk back with the tide rising. 

Pasito Blanco beach, also called El Hornillo, is a long south facing strip of pale sand with a small cliff behind. It's clear water is sheltered by Pasito Blanco's harbour wall so it's a great swimming spot. 

It has no facilities, although there's a Spar supermarket just by the boat yard inside the marina. 

Alex says : You can drive into Pasito Blanco if you plan eat at the La Punta Restaurant on the harbour wall. It's members only at weekends, fiesta days and during the easter and summer holidays. Security won't let you drive in on private days.

Today we will discover together Pasito Blanco , an idyllic refuge where the sea and tranquility go hand in hand. If you are looking for a coastal destination full of charm and discreet luxury , this is your place. Next, we will share with you everything you need to know this jewel of the south of Gran Canaria and the corners it hides. Are you ready? Let's start!

Pasito Blanco

Pasito Blanco is within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. It is a private residential area that in turn has a small port, a Beach club called La Punta Yacht Club and a beach. Access by car is only allowed for those who have a boat and its corresponding mooring, a residence or are staying in one of their private vacation homes. Therefore, we can say that it is a space that only a privileged few can enjoy. If you want, you can go to Pasito Blanco beach, since there are no private beaches in Gran Canaria, you will just have to walk there.

Pasito Blanco Beach

This beach is not one of the largest in Gran Canaria, it is barely 200 meters long. It is characterized by its dark sand and calm waters , making it ideal to go with the family. However, you must keep in mind that from the closest parking area You have to walk about 600 meters to the beach (in case you are very loaded). Also, keep in mind that The beach does not have any type of service, it decir, no hammocks, no toilets, no showers and it is not accessible for people with reduced mobility .

In some digital media they also call it El Hornillo beach , although the reality is that all locals call it Pasito Blanco beach.

La Punta Yacht Club

La Punta, as we call it in Gran Canaria, is a kind of Beach club where you can catch the sun, have a snack and eat with views of Pasito Blanco beach . It has a chill out space, a terrace-dining area and then the solarium with hammocks to rent . If you want to spend the day in their hammocks, the price It is €15 / day . The good thing about this Gran Canaria beach club It is one of the few where you can bathe in the sea , instead of in swimming pools.

Regarding the restaurant, the truth is that the food is quite good. We recommend you try the brunette chips, calamari, wrinkled potatoes and salmon salad. Know that Access to La Punta (including the restaurant) is only for subscribers during the months of July, August and Easter from 8:00 a.m. to 20:00 p.m., for dinners it is allowed . Please note that from November to February they are only open from 10:30 a.m. to 18:30 p.m. We always recommend booking before you go, because sometimes there are private events .

On the other hand, as we show in the photos, It has a platform where you can take a dip if you are going to consume in its bar or restaurant. That is, it is not necessary to have a rented hammock. The bathing area is delimited with buoys for greater safety, since it is an area where boats pass through.

The Pasito area is a of the best areas for stay in Gran Canaria , given its security and tranquility . As we told you at the beginning, to access the urbanization you must pass a security check. Don't worry, For holiday homes, villas and tourist apartments, an exception is made and passage is allowed. . Pasito Blanco

Pasito Blanco is an exclusive resort on the south coast of Gran Canaria. With local beach, villas and yacht club it is ideal to visit year round.

The residential area surrounding the marina creates a very desirable place to live or holiday in one of the villas. Facilities include La Punta Yacht Club, on-site supermarket, snack bar, dog park and outdoor gym.

The nearest resort is Meloneras , which has plenty of restaurants, shops and things to do so you have all you need for a lovely holiday by the sea.

Pasito Blanco Beach

There is a small path with access to what is known as the secret beach of Pasito Blanco. You can get to it from the other side (some people go through the rocks at the side of the golf course) but it's much easier to park up just before the security barrier at the entrance to Pasito Blanco. This dark sand beach doesn't have any facilities down so take your own umbrella and seats if you prefer not to lay your towel on the sand. In general people enjoy sunbathing, swimming and fishing by the rocks here.

Dog Park and Outdoor Gym

Pasito Blanco is dog friendly and has a lovely little grass dog park which is gated for your pup's safety and has a bench for you to take a rest as your dog plays. There are signs everywhere for people to pick up after their dogs, so in general it is very clean. If you feel like a workout there is an outdoor gym for residents and boat owners which has the perfect view of the beach.

Pasito Blanco Marina and Yacht Club

As you walk through the marina you will notice that it is very well looked after and clean. A variety of different boats are moored up and holiday villas and homes are great to look at on a stroll towards the yacht club. You can even stay on a boat with Pasito Blanco Sailboat Xperience or a luxury property like Villa Pasito Blanco . On the harbour wall there is a decking area for sunbathing and neon pink benches which are perfect for chilling out with a good book.

La Punta Yacht Club

La Punta Yacht Club is at the very end of the marina and has a small play area for children near the entrance. There are plenty of sun loungers and a chill out zone with sofas. There is a bar for drinks and snacks and a small jetty with ladder to get down into the sea to cool off.

Pasito Blanco Accommodation

There is a mix of residential and holiday accommodation in Pasito Blanco. Some owners will rent out their marina view apartments and villas for parts of the year on AirBnB or Booking. These luxury villas provide a different taste of Gran Canaria and you can enjoy this exclusive resort with local beach and yacht club anytime of the year.

Pasito Blanco - Select, secluded and unique in the south of Gran Canaria !

We visited one of the most tranquil beaches in the south of Gran Canaria for you, Pasito Blanco. Needless to say, there’s good reason why it is so secluded - it's because there is no public right of way to this public beach! Pasito Blanco, which was called Playa del Hornillo when the beach was accessible to everyone, is now surrounded by a yacht club to the west, a golf club above the beach and cliffs to the east. Despite all that, we've found out how you can get to this gem of a beach!

Pasito Blanco has a picturesque view of the harbour, full of chic sailing boats and catamarans. Above you you’ll find older people working on their handicap and apart from you, there’s just one young woman plunging into the water in an expensive-looking bikini. Whilst there are no luxury lounges at Pasito Blanco, it still has a touch of exclusivity. This is because the beach is actually intended mainly for the use of members of the yacht club. So our first tip is this - just ask the porter at the gate if he'll let you through!

The second option is to climb down the slope from the golf course, which is not entirely without risk. You can find it by following signs to 'Pasito Blanco'. From the car park you cross the green and begin your descent. You need to be steady on your feet to attempt it though. And if that's not adventurous enough for you, here's our final suggested route: From the neighbouring beach, the very touristy Playa de Meloneras, a hair-raising climb to the west across the rocks between the two bays brings you to Pasito Blanco. The only thing more spectacular would be to jump from a helicopter!

You'll be rewarded for your efforts with plenty of peace and quiet and the fine, grey sand of Gran Canaria, which runs gently down into the crystal-clear Atlantic Ocean here. The width of the beach depends on the tide and you can discover fantastic fish underwater with a snorkel and goggles!

Arrival: The public beach is embedded between two private areas, so that it seems a bit difficult to get there. However, if you ask the doorman of the yacht club, you can easily walk around the private residential area including the yacht club and reach the somewhat hidden beach in just a few minutes. Finding parking: To get to Playa de Pasito, drive towards Pasito Blanco, cross its private residential area on foot and walk past a yacht club. The area is private and therefore not accessible by car, so you have to leave your rental car in front of the road barrier. However, as the beach never gets very crowded, there is plenty of parking space.

If you are looking for a good restaurant near Playa del Inglés and Meloneras, it is definitely worth visiting this restaurant in the port of Pasito Blanco. Excellent cuisine and a beautiful environment are a guarantee of a pleasant stay. We had fish from the daily menu, ribs, mixed salad and the youngest couldn’t resist the chicken burger. Everything tasted delicious. When entering the area, just announce at the ramp that you are going to the restaurant and they will let you in by car without any problem. You can park directly on the pier next to the restaurant.

Opening hours: daily from 09:00 to 22:00 hrs.
