Your safety is Key West Water Sports‘s number one concern. In general, sea kayaking is safer than most other outdoor pursuits, even bicycling.

Do we get to swim with or touch the dolphins?

As an active member of the Dolphin SMART program, we do not have physical contact with the dolphins on Key West Full-Day Catamaran Eco Tour: Sail, Kayak and Dolphin Watch. We watch them in their natural habitat from the boat.

Will I get seasick on Key West Full-Day Catamaran Eco Tour: Sail, Kayak and Dolphin Watch?

If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.

Do I need kayaking experience or will you teach me?

No experience is necessary! Beginners are welcome on all of our kayak tours. Most of our guests have never been in a sea kayak before. Anyone in average physical condition may join a kayak tour. If you can hike or bike, you can paddle our sea kayaks. You do not need any swimming skills either.

The only prerequisite is a healthy spirit of curiosity and adventure.

Regardless of age or skill level you will find that our expeditions offer enough flexibility to make your experience with us safe and rewarding. We will show you proper sea kayaking technique and water safety before leaving the beach. And your expert guides will be with you throughout the adventure to give you pointers and improve your skills.

Hands down a must if you are looking for fun! We did a tour around Key West with John. He was excellent and made sure everyone was safe and having fun. It was a 2 hour trip and we stopped multiple times along the way to hear some history and fun facts.

Our cruise was spectacular! The water was gorgeous and we saw lots of dolphins. Some came right next to our boat and even swam underneath it! Then we went to another part of the ocean and snorkeled in the coral reef, the largest in the USA. We saw tons of colorful fish, it was like being in an aquarium!

2025 DL Powell picks West Virginia football

The West Virginia football program has filled a need up front with a commitment from Huntingtown (Md.) 2025 defensive lineman Evan Powell .

Powell, 6-foot-4, 245-pounds, picked the Mountaineers over offers from Memphis, Marshall, Toledo, James Madison, Kent State, Buffalo and a number of others.

The Maryland prospect first received a scholarship offer from the Mountaineers when he visited campus for the Gold-Blue game at the end of April and things only continued to build from that point forward.

That led to Powell coming to campus for his official visit over the June 21-23 weekend and committing to the program.

Powell was recruited by defensive line coach AJ Jackson, and he was critical in getting him to campus for his official visit and ultimately closing the deal on his commitment.

West Virginia is targeting Powell as a defensive end, but he has the versatility to play several different positions up front. And the coaches made it clear that he has some attributes that stand out.

“They liked my quickness, my ability to use my hands and my pass rush,” he said.

Powell is the third defensive lineman to commit to West Virginia in the 2025 class behind Nashville (Tn.) Lipscomb Academy 2025 defensive lineman Amir Leonard-Jean Charles and Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise 2025 defensive end Taylor Brown . He is the 20th commitment overall in the 2025 cycle.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — There will be no public memorial for NBA Hall of Famer Jerry West .

“We will honor Jerry’s wishes and mourn his passing privately,” his family said in a statement released Thursday by the Los Angeles Clippers.

West was working as a consultant for the Clippers when he died June 12 at age 86.

He was born in the West Virginia hamlet of Chelyan and starred at West Virginia University from 1957-60 before becoming the second overall pick in the NBA draft by the Minneapolis Lakers. The team relocated to Los Angeles and he became a 14-time All-Star and won the 1972 NBA championship with the Lakers.

“Jerry’s heart never left West Virginia,” the statement said.

The family said West can be honored through donations to four different funds at WVU: the Jerry West Academic Scholarship, the Jerry and Karen West Basketball Scholarship, the Jerry West Scholarship and the university’s children’s hospital building fund.

It was signed by his widow, Karen, and West’s five sons: David, Michael, Mark, Ryan and Jonnie, along with their spouses and children.

Plenty of Los Angeles Lakers fans have lamented the fact that, in recent years, their beloved franchise has resembled a soap opera more than a legitimate championship-caliber operation.

Ever since former owner Dr. Jerry Buss died in 2013, his daughter Jeanie has assumed control of the team. Jeanie Buss’ brother Jim was put in charge of basketball operations, but he was seen as incompetent in that role, and the two didn’t exactly seem to get along.

Then there was Jeanie Buss’ romantic relationship with Phil Jackson, who coached the Lakers from 1999 to 2004, then returned for six more seasons in 2005 after taking a one-year sabbatical. While that relationship may have been sincere, it rubbed some in the organization the wrong way.

The late Jerry West, who was an executive for the team from 1982 to 2000, was one of those who didn’t approve of the relationship between Jeanie Buss and Jackson. According to one report, she responded by essentially dislodging West from the organization.

“After Jerry Buss died, Jeanie Buss inherited the team and wholly excommunicated Jerry West from the franchise, even taking his season tickets,” Strauss notes. “According to sources, the bitterness started back when West was critical of Jeanie Buss’ relationship with then Laker coach Phil Jackson. Phil won that particular battle, and ultimately the power struggle with West.”

West is often credited with helping to transform the Lakers from a bridesmaid franchise to the gold standard of basketball. During his Hall of Fame playing career in the 1960s and early 1970s, they reached the NBA Finals nine times, only to lose there eight times. But once he took over as general manager in 1982, he made the shrewd moves that turned Showtime from a great team that won two world championships in three years to arguably the greatest NBA team ever.

He went on to work for the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors after leaving the Lakers in 2000. Once he left the Warriors in 2017, he wanted to return to the Lakers, but the team turned him down.

Two years ago, West expressed frustration about his fractured relationship with the Lakers in an interview with The Athletic .

“One disappointing thing (about my career) is that my relationship with the Lakers is horrible,” West told The Athletic. “I still don’t know why. And at the end of the day, when I look back, I say, ‘Well, maybe I should have played somewhere else instead of with the Lakers, where someone would have at least appreciated how much you give, how much you cared.’”

It is unthinkable that he was treated the way he was after all he had done to build up the Lakers brand for decades. But unfortunately, that’s the way it turned out.

The 52-foot Mystic catamaran emblazoned with Trump 2024 won the Ocean Cup 2024 race this weekend with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 51 seconds while registering an average speed of 97.4 miles per hour and 156.76 kilometers per hour.

Roger Norman and Nigel Hook piloted the catamaran during the 128-mile race from Palm Beach to West End, Bahamas, and back.

The powerboat caught people's attention while it was outside Ocean Cup race headquarters at The Ben on Friday, June 7, as a crew worked on prepping the high-performance boat outside the West Palm Beach hotel ahead of Saturday's race.

The basketball community lost a great one early this month as Jerry West passed away at the age of 86. The West Virginia native and WVU alum carried his home with him everywhere he went and his love for the university is still being felt today.

Last week, the Los Angeles Clippers released a statement on the behalf of the West family .

The West family extends our gratefulness for all the love, kindness, and wonderful tributes that we have received in the week since we lost our beloved Jerry. He would be touches and humbled by the outpouring of affection, yet if you knew Jerry you understand that he would sjhy away from the attemtion.

We will honor Jerry’s wises and mourn his passing privately.
