A Luxurious Explorer: Riviera’s 78 Motor Yacht

The Riviera Yachts 78 Motor Yacht’s sense of “wow” starts with a wave-battling, sharp bow with more than 6 feet of freeboard forward that also has a gentle flare. Then, there are the generously sized hull windows and gentle sheerline that splits to offer high deck railings. The sizable yacht’s main deck includes a fully covered after section, a salon that rivals fine apartments, and a bow lounge typically found on larger yachts. Topping it off is a flybridge deck with an extended aft terrace that offers great vistas or a private hideout.

In association with superyacht designer Luca Vallebona and the Riviera Design Group, the Australian builder set out to create more voluminous spaces, maximize stowage, maintain excellent lines of sight and wrap it all in a functional layout. Goals achieved.

Take the salon: A portside sofa complements the opposing side’s L-shaped sofa (with oh-so-soft pillows) and oversized ottoman while maintaining walking space. One way Riviera creates floor space is by tucking away items that are not always used. Riviera designed a table to hide within the portside sofa, so, after the cushions are moved, the table flips up and out from its base, becoming a dining table for six to eight guests. Additionally, the 55-inch flat-screen TV is not mounted in a credenza, but instead drops from overhead. When fully extended, it’s in line with the lower staircase’s railing, so it doesn’t impede the walking areas. The salon has 6-foot-7-inch headroom and side windows measuring more than 3 feet in height, enhancing the sense of space while offering ocean views and letting in natural light.

The galley is aft with an overhead cabinet along the starboard window, nestled next to the after corner fridge/freezer. There are clear sightlines from the aft deck through the salon, thanks to the absence of bulkheads. Rounding out the cooking amenities are an electric cooktop, options for hot or cold sparkling water at the sink, two ovens, a dishwasher, several fridges and a freezer compartment.

The aft deck—16 by 13 by 7 feet—includes a transom sofa with an aft privacy screen, a perfect setup for cozying up with a good book. There is also a starboard-side, L-shaped settee with a walnut dining table. A portside credenza includes a wet bar, a grill, a lower fridge, an ice maker, Corian countertops and stowage.

Dual staircases lead down to the hydraulic swim platform, which not only lowers into the water for handling water toys and swimming, but also rises to clear the aft wash when running. It serves as an additional alfresco social space as well.

Up top, the enclosed flybridge is home to the yacht’s only helm station. This space is also a mini salon, another great social area. Guests can sink into the ultra-soft sofa across from the 44-inch TV. Add in the fresh breeze by opening the sunroof, aft door and side windows. Headroom here is an equally impressive 6 feet, 7 inches. An open-flybridge version is available.

The helm is laid out with four 24-inch Garmin multifunction displays, so the operator can keep eyes on all the vital data, navigation charts, radar, sonar, cameras and more at a glance. With so much glass around the flybridge, visibility is unobstructed in all directions.

Step through the aft door to the flybridge terrace for more alfresco relaxation space. Eat, drink and be merry at the portside corner wet bar, which has two stools (with latches underneath, preventing tipping when in transit). A U-shaped dining area here can be used as lounge seating as well. A half-awning shields some of the space from the elements. Aft space is sufficient for additional lounge chairs. An on-deck day head reduces the need to go below.

Belowdecks, the 78 Motor Yacht is geared for the cruising enthusiast’s family. There are four staterooms and three heads. Down the forward staircase from the salon, an atrium landing provides access to all the staterooms. The full-beam master is amidships with a lounge seat, as well as a head with a shower stall and a separate toilet space. There’s also a full-size office desk that brings new meaning to the phrase “remote working.” Two double-bunk staterooms are forward, with the VIP in the forepeak.

The 78 Motor Yacht is customizable, and Riviera is open to owner requests. Want to replace the pantry with another fridge? No problem. Change the layout of the salon? Sure.

I found that responsive handling comes standard. The 78 Motor Yacht is a graceful craft that reacts well to the single-lever controls, as well as to wheel input. Going hard over on the wheel doesn’t mean it’s a white-knuckle ride. There’s a gentle lean into the turns and an easy rise when hitting the wakes. In other words, this is an easy yacht for an owner-operator or a light crew.

Speaking with Chris McCafferty, international sales director at Riviera Australia, I learned that this yacht was ideal for its owner’s needs—which mirror a lot of owners’ needs in the global cruising community. “For this owner, we were able to check off all the boxes they had,” he said. Room for a cruising family? Check. A bluewater hull form and robust build? Check. Luxurious and homelike amenities? Check. Long range for extended cruising itineraries? Check. Inside and outside living? Check.

It appears that the Riviera 78 Motor Yacht does indeed check a lot of boxes. It makes me wonder: What will they think of next?

The Riviera 78 Motor Yacht’s engine options include V-12 MAN diesels in 1,500, 1,800 or 2,000 hp. The yacht I got aboard had the 2000s, providing a 21.1-knot cruise while burning 126 gallons per hour at 1,800 rpm, equating to a 450-nautical-mile range. At wide-open throttle, the yacht hit 29 knots at 2,200 rpm at a cost of 203 gph, yielding a range of 385 nm. Pull back the throttles to 10 knots for a 43 gph burn and a 2,500 nm range. 

Form and Function

Creating multifunction spaces is a focal point for Riviera. For example, the garage door opens to a large stowage room for water toys, rods and secured containers. A staircase (not a ladder) ensures safe footing into the well. When open, the garage door houses a rain-shower head and lighting to illuminate the platform and area aft.  

Smart design allows for a foredeck oasis with a forward-facing, U-shaped settee, a wooden table, side lounge seats and access to the foredeck gear.

Sitting in the Stidd helm seat and taking in the dash feels like commanding a spaceship. There are touchscreens for most all functions, and buttons for on/off controls. On the right of the seat is an extended platform that houses the throttles, joystick, autopilot and chart-plotter controllers.

Yacht life: Busting barnacles and more to keep her looking good

Yachts by their very nature are big investments.

Beyond price, is the issue of maintenance. A good crew is needed to keep vessels in ship shape.

But time spent in the water takes its toll on a yacht's exterior. When that happens, it's time to call in the barnacle busters.

Visual journalist Damon Higgins recently caught up with such a crew working on a luxury yacht Aug. 13 at the Town of Palm Beach Marina. The team, from Riviera Beach-based Atlantic Underwater Diving Services, spent about an hour and 15 minutes removing barnacles and other growth from the vessel's hull.

"The growths create drag on the bottom of the boats that prohibit them from performing the way they are supposed to," said diver Robin Reed.

What are barnacles?

Barnacles ( Balanus glandula ) are tiny crustaceans related to crabs, lobsters, and shrimps.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) : "Of the more than 1,400 species of barnacles found in the world’s waterways, the most common ones are called acorn barnacles. As anyone who’s ever maintained a vessel knows, removing barnacles requires some elbow grease (or a pressure washer). That's why some boaters call them by their slang name: 'crusty foulers.'

"How do barnacles stick to the undersides of vessels, to other sea life, to each other, and to pretty much anything they come in contact with? They secrete a fast-curing cement that is among the most powerful natural glues known — the glue is so strong that researchers are trying to figure out how it can be used commercially."

Meghan Markle is not hitting any speed bumps while preparing to launch her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.

After a report suggested that the Duchess of Sussex, 43, is struggling to find a CEO for her brand, Us Weekly understands that those claims are untrue. Markle is the current CEO of ARO.

Us learned that rumors of 18 staff members quitting ARO is also false. In fact, no one Markle has hired left the company.

Sources revealed in Us ’ latest cover story that Markle’s ARO will likely launch around the same time as her Netflix series. (The show, which an insider revealed is “going to be a take on her and the joy of living,” is reportedly being released early next year. While there are rumors of a cameo from her husband, Prince Harry , the source teased that fans can expect some recognizable names.)

“[ARO] will likely be very much in line with who Meghan is as a person,” a separate insider told Us . “She loves hosting events, and she’s very thoughtful about how she treats her guests whenever they come over.”

Markle announced her endeavor with ARO in March with an accompanying website and Instagram account . Us confirmed at the time that Markle filed trademarks for the brand to sell cutlery, cookbooks and jarred foods. The patent request was accepted by The United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The first product ARO debuted was a strawberry jam, which is decorated with the brand’s official label. The flavor on the label is handwritten by Markle herself, who utilized her calligraphy skills .

Captain of Sunken Italian Yacht Questioned For 3rd Time as Other Crew Members Are Set to be Investigated: Source (Exclusive)

Authorities in Italy are zeroing in on several individuals as they expand their investigation into the sinking of a yacht off the coast of Sicily on Monday, Aug. 19, that killed seven people.

James Cutfield , 50, the captain of the British-flagged yacht Bayesian , which sank during a storm in the Tyrrhenian Sea near the Sicilian port of Porticello, was interrogated for the third time by prosecutors in the resort town of Zagarella Domina, where survivors of the incident were taken, on Aug. 17, a source close to the criminal investigation confirms to People . Cutfield, a New Zealand native, reportedly exercised his right to remain silent, invoking a principle in Italian law akin the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. "I can tell you that the captain has exercised his right to remain silent for two reasons: he is understandably very distressed, and the defense attorneys were only appointed yesterday and need to get their heads around data and information which they have not had time to do, and as such have not yet been able to draw up a defense strategy," says the source. On Aug. 24, Ambrogio Cartosio, the Chief Prosecutor of Termini Imerese, announced that authorities were launching manslaughter and negligent shipwreck investigations in connection with the sinking, which 15 others aboard survived , including nine crew members.

Cutfield was last questioned on Sunday, Aug. 25 , the Italian news agency Ansa previously reported. He faced questions about the position of the keel , whether the hatch was open and when an alarm was raised amid the worsening weather conditions, per Ansa.

Several other crew members are also expected to be placed under investigation, Italian news outlets Rai , Adnkronos and Sky Italia reported on Aug. 27. The first mate of the yacht, Tijs Koopman , is likely to be interrogated and authorities have asked him to not leave Palermo so that he can be questioned, per Corriere della Sera and TV channel TG La7.

The victims aboard the luxury yacht Bayesian have been identified by Chief Prosecutor Cartosio as British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter, Hannah Lynch; the yacht's chef Recaldo Thomas; and passengers Christopher Morvillo and his wife, Neda , and Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, Judy .

Investigation Into Yacht That Sank Off Sicily Broadens

Prosecutors are looking into the actions of two other crew members in connection with the sinking of the luxury yacht Bayesian, which caused the deaths of seven people.

Prosecutors in Sicily have broadened their investigation into the sinking of the luxury yacht, the Bayesian, and are now looking into the actions of two more crew members, their lawyer said Thursday.

The captain of the yacht, James Cutfield, is also facing a manslaughter inquiry to determine whether his actions negligently caused the shipwreck, one of his lawyers said Tuesday.

Seven people — six passengers and one crew member — died in the Aug. 19 accident amid a pre-dawn storm off the coast of Sicily. Among the victims was the British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, whose family owned the Bayesian, as well as his 18-year-old daughter Hannah.

On Wednesday, prosecutors placed under investigation Tim Parker Eaton, who was in charge of the Bayesian’s engine room, and Matthew Griffiths, the crew member who was on lookout duty that night. They are both represented by Marco Scopesi, a lawyer based in Genoa, who confirmed that the two men were under investigation.

In Italy, placing someone under formal investigation does not necessarily mean criminal charges will follow.

The cruise was to celebrate Mr. Lynch’s acquittal in June on charges that he had led one of the biggest frauds in the technology industry by vastly inflating the value of a company he had founded when he had sold it to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion in 2011. This summer, he had scheduled several cruises to thank the lawyers who had helped him win the case.

Prosecutors in the Sicilian town of Termini Imerese are looking into what caused the 183-foot sailboat — described by the company that owns the ship maker as “unsinkable” — to suddenly capsize and sink to a depth of 165 feet. There had been 22 people on board the Bayesian when it sank, 10 crew members and 12 guests. After the shipwreck, the 15 people who escaped had been transferred to a hotel in the nearby town of Santa Flavia, where journalists were kept at bay.

Last weekend, the six passengers who had survived the shipwreck left the hotel. This week, the nine crew members, including those under investigation, left the hotel and Italy, according to two people familiar with the situation not authorized to speak about it publicly. The crew members had not been prohibited from leaving Italy.

Prosecutors interrogated Captain Cutfield on Tuesday, but he asserted his right to remain silent. Giovanni Rizzuti, one of his lawyers, told Italian media that his client was very “distressed.” Mr. Ruzzuti also said that as he had only taken the case on Monday, he needed time to come up with a “thorough, complete and correct” line of defense, and go through the elements of the case, he said. Captain Cutfield left Sicily on Thursday, according to a person familiar with the case.

In Italy, placing someone under investigation means that they can have a lawyer present when non-repeatable examinations, like autopsies, are carried out.

Mr. Scopesi said that like the captain of the Bayesian, his clients were under investigation on charges of manslaughter and causing a shipwreck, “in a very general way, the prosecution hasn’t focused on anything specifically,” he said.

“We’re still at the beginning” of the investigation, he said.

Snorkelling, diving, paddleboarding and fishing enthusiasts are well catered for on the 6800 Sport Yacht with the ample water sports equipment storage of the tender garage. A clever tender cradle and electric winch system using the descending steps of the swim platform will gently launch and retrieve the tender. There is also the convenience of an overhead freshwater hot and cold shower and light when the tender garage door is raised.

Outstanding Aft Deck

This is the entertaining and dining centre of the 6800 Sport Yacht with an extended hardtop providing all-weather protection. A plush guest lounge extends across the width of the transom; always popular while underway or at anchor. Forward to port is an attractive L-shaped lounge dining area with superbly crafted folding teak table. Here is comfortable seating for eight or more, with storage underneath and four folding occasional chairs standing by. A breezeway blind lowers from the hardtop at the press of a button to shield from the afternoon sun, and tinted glass quarter panels add privacy and weather protection. The aft deck on the 6800 boasts a very capable alfresco entertainer’s galley complete with a grill and hotplate, exhaust fan, two drawer fridges, an icemaker, stainless steel sink with a mixer and solid surface benchtop.

An impressive electric sunroof glides open to invite fresh air, the warmth of the sun or the sparkle of the stars. And for those important moments that must be seen live, an LED TV folds down from the hardtop.

The wide side decks guide you to the forward deck, a casual entertaining sundeck so easily accessed from the side door of the saloon. Here are deep insulated ice bins for refreshments, a sound system for your playlist and an expansive outdoor lounge area to relax and entertain with seating for eight.

Two supremely comfortable sunbeds take prime position and there is no finer place to stretch out and enjoy the beauty of your surrounds.

When it’s time to weigh anchor, the teak trimmed pedestal tables and euro awning quickly stow in a forward locker.

Spacious Saloon and Gourmet Galley

Slide open the saloon door. Then lower the electric galley window with the push of a button. Both are of the highest quality tinted glass, framed in polished stainless steel. Now the aft deck flows into the saloon creating one grand living and entertaining space.

The U-shaped galley of the 6800 Sport Yacht is an inspiring space, superbly equipped with premium appliances beautifully integrated into handcrafted timber joinery. A three-element induction cooktop with removable potholders is complemented by a combination oven with integrated grill; ample storage, pantry, rangehood, double sink, microwave and dishwasher complete the galley wish list.

Opposite the galley is a full-height refrigerator with two freezer doors below and a fine example of Riviera’s renowned craftsmanship; an elegant bar/serving station with a double drawer fridge, wine cooler, sink and drinks cabinet for bottles and glassware.

Forward of the galley portside, is a U-shaped lounge with matching ottomans. And while most meals will be enjoyed on the aft deck, Riviera’s design team has created a masterful alternative featuring a handcrafted solid timber table that easily folds out from the lounge for when additional guests are aboard, or you wish to dine inside.

A matching sofa opposite completes this stylish saloon setting. Lower the window blinds to create a cinema room with premium sound system and a large LED TV rising at the press of a button. If more seating is required, the companion helm chair turns 180 degrees to accommodate.

In true motor yacht style, the saloon features a very practical starboard door for quick and easy access to the forward deck; access to the side deck to tend to mooring lines; or simply to invite a cool breeze to flow through the saloon at anchor.

The helm is state-of-the-art, featuring touch-screen navigation and operation technology all designed to make your boating even easier and more pleasurable. Total control is at your fingertips and visibility is outstanding through the curved tempered glass windscreen. Captain and companion chairs are fully adjustable and deeply comfortable with the added luxury of hand-stitched leather. Guests can join the skipper while underway and enjoy commanding views from the portside companion lounge. The electric sunroof and forward side windows operate at the touch of a button to invite a cool breeze whether underway or at anchor.

Four Staterooms, Three Bathrooms plus Utility / Crew Cabin

The accommodation deck of the 6800 Sport Yacht is vast and luxurious.

All staterooms and bathrooms enjoy natural light through large, tinted hull windows. Luxe appointments include premium carpet and fabrics, reverse-cycle air-conditioning, cedar-lined hanging lockers and striking timber feature panels. Designer bathrooms feature full-sized showers with frameless glass doors, teak seats and heated towel rails.

There’s also the option of a three-stateroom layout where the starboard guest cabin is replaced by a lower lounge with an LED TV. A perfect media room to entertain children or use as a snug reading space.

The full-beam master suite with penthouse style ensuite is palatial. At the centre is king-sized walk-around island bed; to starboard a handcrafted polished timber drawer bureau includes a make-up station complete with lift-up mirror and an ottoman seat. Portside is a sumptuous two-seater lounge.

A bespoke timber entertainment unit with a flush-mounted LED TV provides additional drawer storage and welcomed shelf space. Ample storage and hanging lockers including a walk-through wardrobe and linen hampers. The master suite includes a breakfast bar and drawer fridge with power for a coffee machine.

The forward VIP stateroom is guaranteed to delight your guests. With private entry, private ensuite bathroom and walk-around queen-sized bed, the mood is pure luxury. Storage is maximised with a lift-up bed base on gas struts, additional bed-base drawers, port and starboard overhead lockers and His & Hers cedar-lined hanging lockers. A flush-mounted LED TV and sound system is ready to entertain.

The portside guest stateroom can be two single beds or one double at the touch of a button. Flexible and practical, the inboard single berth slides smoothly across to form a restful double. Guests enjoy the luxury of a designer ensuite bathroom with the two-way entry allowing convenient day-head access.

The starboard guest stateroom adds two very comfortable adult-sized single berths overlapping at 90 degrees. Guests share the ensuite bathroom of the port stateroom via the day-head entry with privacy locks.

Personalised Laundry, or Crew Cabin

A popular option for those with large families planning longer range voyages is to use this utility space as a dedicated laundry with a sink, separate washing machine, dryer and plenty of practical bench space for sorting and folding. The laundry is conveniently located aft of the master stateroom through a sound-insulated door.

The Crew Cabin layout features an additional door to enclose the walk-through wardrobe and restrict access to the Master Stateroom.

A well-equipped laundry is retained with the washing machine and dryer located below the single berth. Riviera’s design team has created a comfortable crew retreat with all the essentials, including an enclosed wet head with shower wand and toilet, extraction fan, air-conditioning and a tinted hull window with an opening porthole. The lift-up transom door provides private access to the Crew Cabin passing through the immaculate full-height engine room and watertight entry door.

Options for even greater convenience, comfort and style

Owners can select from a range of innovative custom options including Starlink high-speed internet and Praxis solar charging systems. Factory fitted stabilisation is also available; choose either a gyroscopic or fin-based system.

Riviera to premiere spectacular new sport yacht at fort lauderdale international boat show.

Internationally respected luxury motor yacht builder, Riviera Australia, will proudly host the Americas premiere of the exceptional new  6800 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition  as part of a magnificent 11-model showcase at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show opening on Wednesday, October 30. 

Visitors will have the opportunity to inspect an exceptional showcase that represents the very latest of Riviera’s world-class engineering, design, and handcrafted luxury.

Flanking the Riviera fleet in Fort Lauderdale will be the 6800 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition. Following three years and over 45,000-man hours of meticulous development, the Riviera design group, in collaboration with awarded superyacht designer Luca Vallebona, have created the ultimate Sport Yacht, the flagship 6800 Platinum Edition. 

An exclusive VIP event for Riviera owners will be held at the display during the show to celebrate the launching of the 6000th Riviera yacht, the premiere of the new 6800 Sport Yacht and the Riviera Americas family.

The Riviera collection  from 39 to 78 feet shares a 44-year blue-water heritage and now includes the magnificent Motor Yacht, six long-range and luxurious Sports Motor Yachts, four sophisticated Sport Yachts, six adventurous SUVs and four yachts from the elegant Belize collection.

The Luxury of Space

Riviera’s 6800 Sport Yacht has so many separate entertaining areas that family groups, friends and couples can all find their own space to enjoy the world around them. Sunshine or moonlight on the forward deck tends to attract more casual occasions. The protected aft deck is popular regardless of the weather and when you want to enjoy the sunshine or stars, simply open the sunroof. The saloon is another very relaxing space with a choice of three lounges and another electric sunroof.

Welcome aboard the 6800 Sport Yacht

As you step aboard the tremendous boarding platform, you’ll notice teak steps port and starboard leading up to the aft deck. In between is the tender garage and access door to the full-height engine room leading through to the crew or utility room. Always finding new ways to make boating easier and more pleasurable, the innovative Riviera design team has created an electro-hydraulic swim platform that articulates into steps to be lowered below the water or raised above to match the level of marina or pontoon. And for raised fixed jetties there are wing doors on the aft deck for easy, direct access.

Snorkelling, diving, paddleboarding and fishing enthusiasts are well catered for on the 6800 Sport Yacht with the ample water sports equipment storage of the tender garage. A clever tender cradle and electric winch system using the descending steps of the swim platform will gently launch and retrieve the tender. There is also the convenience of an overhead freshwater hot and cold shower and light when the tender garage door is raised.

Outstanding Aft Deck

This is the entertaining and dining centre of the 6800 Sport Yacht with an extended hardtop providing all-weather protection. A plush guest lounge extends across the width of the transom; always popular while underway or at anchor. Forward to port is an attractive L-shaped lounge dining area with superbly crafted folding teak table. Here is comfortable seating for eight or more, with storage underneath and four folding occasional chairs standing by. A breezeway blind lowers from the hardtop at the press of a button to shield from the afternoon sun, and tinted glass quarter panels add privacy and weather protection. The aft deck on the 6800 boasts a very capable alfresco entertainer’s galley complete with a grill and hotplate, exhaust fan, two drawer fridges, an icemaker, stainless steel sink with a mixer and solid surface benchtop.

An impressive electric sunroof glides open to invite fresh air, the warmth of the sun or the sparkle of the stars. And for those important moments that must be seen live, an LED TV folds down from the hardtop.

The wide side decks guide you to the forward deck, a casual entertaining sundeck so easily accessed from the side door of the saloon. Here are deep insulated ice bins for refreshments, a sound system for your playlist and an expansive outdoor lounge area to relax and entertain with seating for eight.

Two supremely comfortable sunbeds take prime position and there is no finer place to stretch out and enjoy the beauty of your surrounds.

When it’s time to weigh anchor, the teak trimmed pedestal tables and euro awning quickly stow in a forward locker.

Spacious Saloon and Gourmet Galley

Slide open the saloon door. Then lower the electric galley window with the push of a button. Both are of the highest quality tinted glass, framed in polished stainless steel. Now the aft deck flows into the saloon creating one grand living and entertaining space.

The U-shaped galley of the 6800 Sport Yacht is an inspiring space, superbly equipped with premium appliances beautifully integrated into handcrafted timber joinery. A three-element induction cooktop with removable potholders is complemented by a combination oven with integrated grill; ample storage, pantry, rangehood, double sink, microwave and dishwasher complete the galley wish list.

Opposite the galley is a full-height refrigerator with two freezer doors below and a fine example of Riviera’s renowned craftsmanship; an elegant bar/serving station with a double drawer fridge, wine cooler, sink and drinks cabinet for bottles and glassware.

Forward of the galley portside, is a U-shaped lounge with matching ottomans. And while most meals will be enjoyed on the aft deck, Riviera’s design team has created a masterful alternative featuring a handcrafted solid timber table that easily folds out from the lounge for when additional guests are aboard, or you wish to dine inside.

A matching sofa opposite completes this stylish saloon setting. Lower the window blinds to create a cinema room with premium sound system and a large LED TV rising at the press of a button. If more seating is required, the companion helm chair turns 180 degrees to accommodate.

In true motor yacht style, the saloon features a very practical starboard door for quick and easy access to the forward deck; access to the side deck to tend to mooring lines; or simply to invite a cool breeze to flow through the saloon at anchor.

Commanding Helm

The helm is state-of-the-art, featuring touch-screen navigation and operation technology all designed to make your boating even easier and more pleasurable. Total control is at your fingertips and visibility is outstanding through the curved tempered glass windscreen. Captain and companion chairs are fully adjustable and deeply comfortable with the added luxury of hand-stitched leather. Guests can join the skipper while underway and enjoy commanding views from the portside companion lounge. The electric sunroof and forward side windows operate at the touch of a button to invite a cool breeze whether underway or at anchor.

Four Staterooms, Three Bathrooms plus Utility / Crew Cabin

The accommodation deck of the 6800 Sport Yacht is vast and luxurious.

All staterooms and bathrooms enjoy natural light through large, tinted hull windows. Luxe appointments include premium carpet and fabrics, reverse-cycle air-conditioning, cedar-lined hanging lockers and striking timber feature panels. Designer bathrooms feature full-sized showers with frameless glass doors, teak seats and heated towel rails.

There’s also the option of a three-stateroom layout where the starboard guest cabin is replaced by a lower lounge with an LED TV. A perfect media room to entertain children or use as a snug reading space.

The full-beam master suite with penthouse style ensuite is palatial. At the centre is king-sized walk-around island bed; to starboard a handcrafted polished timber drawer bureau includes a make-up station complete with lift-up mirror and an ottoman seat. Portside is a sumptuous two-seater lounge.

A bespoke timber entertainment unit with a flush-mounted LED TV provides additional drawer storage and welcomed shelf space. Ample storage and hanging lockers including a walk-through wardrobe and linen hampers. The master suite includes a breakfast bar and drawer fridge with power for a coffee machine.

The forward VIP stateroom is guaranteed to delight your guests. With private entry, private ensuite bathroom and walk-around queen-sized bed, the mood is pure luxury. Storage is maximised with a lift-up bed base on gas struts, additional bed-base drawers, port and starboard overhead lockers and His & Hers cedar-lined hanging lockers. A flush-mounted LED TV and sound system is ready to entertain.

The portside guest stateroom can be two single beds or one double at the touch of a button. Flexible and practical, the inboard single berth slides smoothly across to form a restful double. Guests enjoy the luxury of a designer ensuite bathroom with the two-way entry allowing convenient day-head access.

The starboard guest stateroom adds two very comfortable adult-sized single berths overlapping at 90 degrees. Guests share the ensuite bathroom of the port stateroom via the day-head entry with privacy locks.

Personalised Laundry, or Crew Cabin

A popular option for those with large families planning longer range voyages is to use this utility space as a dedicated laundry with a sink, separate washing machine, dryer and plenty of practical bench space for sorting and folding. The laundry is conveniently located aft of the master stateroom through a sound-insulated door.

The Crew Cabin layout features an additional door to enclose the walk-through wardrobe and restrict access to the Master Stateroom.

A well-equipped laundry is retained with the washing machine and dryer located below the single berth. Riviera’s design team has created a comfortable crew retreat with all the essentials, including an enclosed wet head with shower wand and toilet, extraction fan, air-conditioning and a tinted hull window with an opening porthole. The lift-up transom door provides private access to the Crew Cabin passing through the immaculate full-height engine room and watertight entry door.

Options for even greater convenience, comfort and style

Owners can select from a range of innovative custom options including Starlink high-speed internet and Praxis solar charging systems. Factory fitted stabilisation is also available; choose either a gyroscopic or fin-based system. 

The latest smart technology aboard the 6800 SY makes boating easy

Enjoy an even greater ease of boating with Riviera. The Volvo Penta Assisted Docking system is the next generation of marine automation. It simplifies yacht docking and improves your control for manoeuvring in tight spaces to make docking easy in challenging conditions. With the joystick, you control the boat’s path and speed, while the system compensates for elements such as wind and current.  Push the joystick forward and the system lays out a straight path that the boat follows.  At any time, you can release the joystick and your boat will hold on a fixed position.

Power at your fingertips

Access to the superbly engineered, full-height and substantial engine room is via a wide watertight door from the utility cabin aft of the master stateroom, or through a lift-up door on the transom.

Riviera engineers have selected twin Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350s, rated at 1,000hp (735kW) to deliver effortless power-to-weight performance.
